Democrats Already Have Chris Christie In Their Cross-hairs

Just in case Chris Christie decides this week to join the Republican circus and get the usual instant promotion to ring-master, Democrats have already begun getting their hunting gear prepared. All that’s needed now is confirmation that Christie is running…lol, and the hope that Rick Perry provides his inappropriately named  hunting grounds in Texas.

On the Sunday talk shows, Maryland governor Martin O’Malley and Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick were taking some pot shots at Chris Christie just to start the ball rolling.

Maryland Gov. and DGA Chairman Martin O’Malley on “Face the Nation;”

I think at the end of the day what this race is going to come down to is effectiveness. When it comes to being effective at creating jobs, improving schools, and expanding opportunity, his record in New Jersey has not been a record of governing for effectiveness. His bond rating has been downgraded by two of the bond rating agencies, his unemployment in New Jersey is one of the higher unemployment rates in the country at 9.4%. Last year, New Jersey created no new jobs and his schools, because of the choices he’s made to cut education funding, have actually been declining in their national ranking.

So that’s not a record of leadership and governance and effectiveness. So whatever the entertainment value is, it’s not effective governing.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick on “Meet The Press;”

Look, you know, he’s been governor for, what is it, a year and a half, two years? … I think unemployment in New Jersey is higher even than, than the national average. It’s some unfinished work in New Jersey in order to have proof points for the case he wants to make. I think the point is that the president is not leaving the outcome of this election up to pundits, pollsters, or some view of what the current or future field will be in the Republican Party. It’s about getting out and appealing to people where they live, where they are, where they feel, and making sure that they understand he’s trying to do what he can to help them out.

Disgusting Trap And Arrest Tactic By New York Police – Video

It’s a process called “Kettling” – leading the unsuspecting victim to an area where there’s no way out, and attacking. In this case, the NYPD demonstrated kettling on the protestors yesterday as over 700 people were arrested after police directed them to the Brooklyn Bridge, then started their arresting spree.

The video below shows this unbelievable “rounding-up” of the demonstrators at Occupy Wall Street.

Rick Perry And His Friends Hunted At “Niggerhead”

Here are some unflattering things you should know about Rick Perry, the Republican front-runner to challenge President Obama in the 2012 election.

  1. His family owned a lease for a 1,070 acre property – no, thats not bad at all… please stand by…
  2. Rick Perry, in the early days of his political career took fellow politicians and friends to this property for hunting trips. – no, number 2 is not that bad either. He’s from Texas, and hunting is most likely  the  favorite pastime…. but, please stand by…
  3. The name of this property frequented by Rick Perry and his friends is “Niggerhead.”
Now, since this story broke in the Washington Times, Rick Perry and his campaign released a statement stating that the Perry family did not own this property. But they did not deny the claim that Rick Perry’s father leased the property in the 1980’s, or the claim that a rock at the entrance to the property has the name, “Niggerhead” painted on it. The campaign also claims that the rock was eventually painted over.
From the Washington report;
When asked last week, Perry said the word on the rock is an “offensive name that has no place in the modern world.”
Asked to explain why the name is still seen on the rock through the coat of paint, Perry answered;

“My mother and father went to the lease and painted the rock in either 1983 or 1984,” Perry wrote. “This occurred after I paid a visit to the property with a friend and saw the rock with the offensive word. After my visit I called my folks and mentioned it to them, and they painted it over during their next visit.”

“Ever since, any time I ever saw the rock it was painted over,” Perry said.

But it seems that Perry’s recollection about this rock may not be correct at all. The Washington Post report continues;

Perry’s version of events differs in many respects from the recollections of seven people, interviewed by The Washington Post, who spoke in detail of their memories of seeing the rock with the name at various points during the years that Perry was associated with the property through his father, partners or his signature on a lease.

… Of those interviewed, the seven who said they saw the rock said the block-lettered name was clearly visible at different points in the 1980s and 1990s. One, a former worker on the ranch, believes he saw it as recently as 2008.

Herman Cain, one of the Republican challengers to Rick Perry and the only black Republican trying to get the Republican nomination said the name on the rock is “just plain insensitive.” Making his Sunday rounds on the cable networks, Cain told Chris Wallace of Fox News;

“My reaction is, that’s just very insensitive. [There is not] a more vile negative word than the N-word and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted it over is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country.”

However, not everyone thinks the name is offensive. A Texas county judge is quoted in the Washington Post as saying;
“It’s just a name,” said Haskell County Judge David Davis, sitting in his courtroom and looking at a window. “Like those are vertical blinds. It’s just what it was called. There was no significance other than as a hunting deal.”
Rick Perry is trying to become the President of these UNITED States in 2012… in 2012!  Amazing that stuff like this is still news in our times.

Occupy Wall Street Took The Brooklyn Bridge – 400 People Arrested

Occupy Wall Street has gone nationwide, with protests today in Los Angeles and Maine. But the group of  young people who started the march in New York didn’t take the day off today, they took their protests to the next level and were joined by various unions as well. A faction of the group in New York eventually ended up on the Brooklyn Bridge, less than a mile away from Wall Street.

Below is an unedited video showing some of the protesters, as they shut down the bridge. Reports suggests that some 400 people were arrested.

Occupy Wall Street started about 3 weeks ago by a group of individuals tired with the way Wall Street have manipulated the system and the negative way their actions have affected the economy.

Michele Bachmann – Missing In Action For The Month Of September

John McCain couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time and apparently, neither could Michele Bachmann. Consumed with her presidential desire, Bachmann has been missing in action for the entire month of September, deciding not to do her primary job of representing the people of Minnesota.

After Standard and Poor’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating in August, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) called for Congress to return immediately from its recess to restore the nation’s AAA rating.

But when lawmakers eventually returned to Washington in September, Bachmann did not.

The House held 60 votes during the month of September, and the Minnesota Republican missed them all.

Bachmann spent the month on the presidential campaign trail, where she sought to build on her August victory in the influential Iowa straw poll. She tried to attend President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 8, but weather delays caused her to miss the speech.

The people of Minnesota should definitely have something to say about this. This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase taxation without representation.

Newt Gingrich Says Fellow Republicans Not Smart Enough For White House

Newt is trying to get his 15 minutes in the spotlight, and his recent comments about being the smartest among the rest of his fellow Republicans running for President is nothing more than his attempt to be, as Sarah Palin would put it, the flavor of the week.

At a Best Western breakfast yesterday, Gingrich told the audience why they should vote for him over his Republican rivals.

“I’m not running against any of my friends, they’re all good people. But if you watch them and watch me, the difference in the depth of knowledge and the difference in the ability to debate Obama, the difference in actually having done it at the national level, I can’t only think if you’re worried about the future of the country and you’re worried about how we get the country fixed, I’m a pretty good mechanic who knows how to fix the car and the other folks are good at selling it.

“They’re nice people, but they don’t have the knowledge to do something like this on this scale. This is enormously complicated.”

For some reason, I can definitely see what Gingrich is talking about. Except in the case of George Bush whose stupidity kept many comedians employed, the White House occupant has most always been a person who was smart enough to handle all the rigorous demands of the office. No one, not Rick Perry, not Mitt Romney, not Michele Bachmann or Herman Cain… and not even old Newt himself. None of these jokers have demonstrated to the American people that they have what it takes.

And speaking of jokers –  if you are looking for a good laugh, look no further than the next Republican debate.

Herman Cain Refers To Perry, Romney And Bachmann As “Ice Milk”

Sarah Palin, on her recent appearance on Fox News, told Greta Van Susteren that Herman Cain is just the “flavor of the week.” Palin’s comment was a direct hit to Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Donald Trump, who all led the Republican presidential field at some point or another.

Herman Cain went on the Jay Leno Show last night, and defended his recent surge in the polls. Asked about Palin’s flavor of the week comment, Herman Cain defended his new position – presently third behind Rick Perry and Mitt Romney – and in the process of making that defense, Cain referred to Perry, Bachmann and Trump – the previous poll leaders – as “ice milk.” About the “flavor of the week” label, Cain said;

But the fact that she called me flavor of the week… if you look at what has happened, that might be true with some people. But I happen to believe that there’s ice milk and there’s Häagen-Dazs Black Walnut. Substance. That’s the difference. I got some substance. I’m Häagen-Dazs Black Walnut!

Barack Obama Politics weekly address

President Obama: End The Politics, Pass This Jobs Bill!

In his weekly address, President Obama again called on Republicans to work for regular middle class American people, instead of protecting the super rich. He focused on the jobs bill that Congress received over three weeks ago, and urged Congress to work and pass the bill that he says, “is fully paid for.”

This jobs bill contains the kinds of proposals that Democrats and Republicans have supported in the past.  And now I want it back.  It is time for Congress to get its act together and pass this jobs bill so I can sign it into law.

Mr. Obama also called out the Republicans in congress, saying that they’ve stated being in favor of some aspects of the jobs bill. And he ask them to state what “exactly they’re against.”

 Are they against putting teachers and police officers and firefighters back on the job?  Are they against hiring construction workers to rebuild our roads and bridges and schools?  Are they against giving tax cuts to virtually every worker and small business in America?

He then went on to mention some of the letters he has received from different constituents, asking for passage of the bill. He ended the address by promising to work endlessly on getting the jobs bill to become law. The President also urged the nation to work with him, and call their members of Congress. “If anyone watching feels the same way, don’t be shy about letting your Congressman know,” he said.” It is time for the politics to end.  Let’s pass this jobs bill.”

Former Mexican President Thanks Rick Perry For Educating Mexican “Mirgants”

Thanks to Mitt Romney for pointing this out. Apparently, Mexico’s former president Vicente Fox, issued praise and thanks to Rick Perry for allowing Mexico’s “migrants” the opportunity to be educated in Texas.

Of course, Mitt Romney says now that he disapproves of Perry’s immigration policy, but with the way Mitt flip-flops, we’ll have to wait and see when/if he changes his mind.

The Obama Administration – Amazing In Capturing Terrorists – The List

A great read by Jake Tapper. A list of some of the terrorists killed or captured under the leadership of the Obama Administration. This is something the Republicans would not want the American people to know about. Although September 11th happened under the Bush Administration, Republicans will still try to claim some special authority when it comes to protecting the American people.

This list complements Jake Tapper;

There’s Osama bin Laden,  of course, killed in May.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) leader Anwar al-Awlaki as of today.

Earlier this month officials confirmed that al Qaeda’s chief of Pakistan operations, Abu Hafs al-Shahri, was killed in Waziristan, Pakistan.

In August, ‘Atiyah ‘Abd al-Rahman,  the deputy leader of al Qaeda was killed.

In June, one of the group’s most dangerous commanders, Ilyas Kashmiri,  was killed in Pakistan. In Yemen that same month, AQAP senior operativesAmmar al-Wa’ili, Abu Ali al-Harithi, and Ali Saleh Farhan were killed. In Somalia, Al-Qa’ida in East Africa (AQEA) senior leader Harun Fazul was killed.

Administration officials also herald the recent U.S./Pakistani joint arrest ofYounis al-Mauritani  in Quetta.

Going back to August 2009, Tehrik e-Taliban Pakistan leader Baitullah Mahsud was killed in Pakistan.

In September of that month, Jemayah Islamiya operational plannerNoordin Muhammad Top was killed in Indonesia, and AQEA plannerSaleh Ali Saleh Nabhan was killed in Somalia.

Another High Profile Al Qaeda Leader Killed In Yemen

Another of Al Qaeda’s highest ranking leaders was killed on Friday by the CIA. Anwar al-Awlaki, an American, born in New Mexico to Yemeni parents in 1971 became a radical preacher and used his teachings to recruit followers in the US and Britain. Investigations showed that al-Awlaki was influential in the Fort Hood shooting, where 13 people died at the hands of gunman Nidal Hasan.

CBS News reports;

Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born radical Islamic preacher who rose to the highest level of al Qaeda’s franchise in Yemen, was killed in a CIA-directed strike upon his convoy, carried out with the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command’s firepower, according to a counterterrorist official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence.

Al-Awlaki had been under observation for three weeks while they waited for the right opportunity to strike, one U.S. official said.

Already, Fox News is trying to credit George Bush and his policy of waterboarding for this capture/killing. On the so-called news  network Fox, Gretchen Carlson said that under President Obama’s administration “it seems that we don’t prosecute or ask the same questions that we might have under the Bush Administration, so would we get anything out of him anyway if we captured them?”

Fox was also instrumental in framing the lie that Osama Bin Laden’s capture was solely because of Bush. Somehow, this is not surprising.
