Political Junkies Unite! It’s Time to Vote

I predict that the global rise in temperature will show a significant decline on Monday as all the hot air bloviators, pollsters, consultants and media talking heads hold their steamy breath as they await the results of the Iowa caucuses. And why shouldn’t they? The numbers all say that Donald Trump will win the caucuses over Ted Cruz, with the rest of the GOP field barely in their rear-view mirror.

And then of course there’s Iowa’s importance as a…as a…mid-western, um, evangelical-heavy, um…white, um…state. That really doesn’t represent much about America except that the Republicans there seem to have fallen for Trump’s snake oil and Cruz’s smarmy insincerity.

Which is why I think the results will likely be different from the media narrative that’s been written since the fall. I could be wrong, and if I am I will say so because I live in New Jersey and from the governor on down to us little folk, we New Jerseyans always tell the truth and admit our failures and flip-flops.

For what it’s worth, I have been saying all along that neither Trump nor Cruz will be the GOP nominee because both their personalities and their policy prescriptions will not appeal to a majority of either party voters or the electorate at large. Trump has been inconsistent in his message on the stump and hasn’t really come up with specific fixes for the economy, foreign policy or constitutional issues mainly because he doesn’t have many. Calling people stupid or losers or saying that he can fix things because he’s a businessman doesn’t inspire confidence. Cruz, likewise, is running to head a government that he doesn’t even respect. He says he knows what the constitution means and the original intent of the framers, but my suspicion is that they would laugh him out of the room for being a presidential pretender at best.

Trump and Cruz are likely to be first and second in Iowa, but I don’t believe that either one will crack 30% of the vote and the big surprise will come from Marco Rubio, and one of Bush or Kasich, who will do far (far) better than what they are polling right now. I think they could approach 20% of the vote, which would instantly put them in line to be seen as the moderate/establishment savior for the party, and the de facto person to beat in New Hampshire.

For the Democrats, Hillary Clinton’s e-mails have reared their ugly heads again and they will have a slight impact on the race, but I think she will still win the caucuses by about 5 percentage points over Bernie Sanders. He’ll likely poll in the high 30s or lower 40s on Monday, and will go into New Hampshire as the favorite to win there, but I don’t think he’ll do that either. Clinton has too much money and more support among minorities for Sanders to mount a national challenge.

After a very long pre-season, it’s time for political junkies everywhere to get their electoral needles ready for the voting binge to come. The fun starts now.

Republican say She will “shoot” Refugees “in the head” to “end their miserable life”

Michele Fiore, Republican Assemblyman of the Fourth District, was talking to a radio station in Las Veges when the host asked why she didn’t sign the statement by other Republicans, refusing to allow Syrian refugees into their states. Michele Fiore seemed flabbergasted by the question and stated that she did not sign the statement because it didn’t go far enough.

And she came up with something she thought was the appropriate measure to stop the refugees – “shoot ’em in the head…”

“What–are you kidding me? I’m about to fly to Paris and shoot ‘em in the head myself! I am not OK with Syrian refugees. I’m not OK with terrorists. I’m OK with putting them down, blacking them out, just put a piece of brass in their ocular cavity and end their miserable life. I’m good with that.”

Don’t you just love the Republicans? These are the same folks claiming to be the protectors of the Constitution, yet the very thing the Constitution stands for, Republicans willfully ignore. Trump, who insists that he is a Christian, wants to enact a religious test for anyone coming to the United States and if they’re Muslims, they can forget coming here all together, and Michele Fiore wants to fly to Paris and do her own version of another terrorist attack on Syrian refugees!

I have never seen this brand of Christianity before.

Yes, They Yelled “White Power” at Trump’s Gathering – Video

Donald Trump plus white people yelling “white power” goes hand in hand. You kinda expect people to burst out in unison yelling “white power” at all of his functions. Maybe that will be the new thing for the Republican as he campaigns for the presidency.

It was yelled out multiple times by people in the crowd, repeatedly, you can check for yourself by re-watching the rally, or by glancing through comment threads from websites where people were watching the rally and searching for the term “white power”…

One of these new fans is Andres Anglin, who blogs on neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer. Praising the man who he affectionately refers to as “The Don,” Anglin wrote, “I do not believe he would solve all or even most of the problems we are facing, but he is absolutely the only candidate who is even talking about anything at all that matters.” Anglin also spoke with admiration of Trump, because the Republican candidate was “willing to call them out as criminal rapists, murderers and drug dealers.”

Republicans Getting Hammered for Dumb “Open Letter” to Iran – Video

As if they didn’t know this was a bad idea. Well, we are talking about Republicans here – a group that has been on the wrong side of all popular issues since Obama took office – so maybe they absolutely thought this was the right thing to do. In any case, and rightly so, the rest of the nation is coming down on these 47 Senate Republicans who signed this letter and thus, decided that they should have more say in international policies than the President.

Rachel Maddow highlighted some of the national pushback, including editorials from districts where some of these senators serve. And now, Maddow!

GOP Senator – “I don’t have a problem” if Employees Don’t Wash Their Hands in Bathroom

I mean, just when you thought you’ve heard it all from these backward Republicans, they hit you in the kneecap with another outlandish statement.

During a Q&A at the Bipartisan Policy Center on Monday, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) related a story from his time in the state legislature in 2010, complaining that the U.S. is “one of the most regulated nations in the history of the planet.”

“I was having a discussion with someone, and we were at a Starbucks in my district, and we were talking about certain regulations where I felt like ‘maybe you should allow businesses to opt out,'” the senator said.

Tillis said his interlocutor was in disbelief, and asked whether he thought businesses should be allowed to “opt out” of requiring employees to wash their hands after using the restroom.

The senator said he’d be fine with it, so long as businesses made this clear in “advertising” and “employment literature.”

“I said: ‘I don’t have any problem with Starbucks if they choose to opt out of this policy as long as they post a sign that says “We don’t require our employees to wash their hands after leaving the restroom,” Tillis said.

“The market will take care of that,” he added, to laughter from the audience.

Wrapping up the Q&A, the moderator joked to Tillis, “I’m not sure I’m gonna shake your hand.”

Republican Congressman to Resign – Could End Up in Jail

CNN is reporting that macho-macho man Michael Grimm, you remember him right? He is the Republican Congressman who was recorded on camera threatening to throw a reporter off a balcony.

Grimm, according to CNN is about to announce that he will resign from being a congressman as earlier as Tuesday. Grimm recently pleaded guilty to tax evasion and could spend up to a year in prison.

But don’t worry Republicans, when he gets out of prison you can still vote for him and put him back in Congress.  After all, he is a RepubliCON… emphasis on… “CON.”

Mike Huckabee Threatens to Leave The Republican Party – Audio

Photo: REUTERS/Brian Snyder

Since the United States Supreme Court decided not to take up same sex marriage, over 30 more states have adopted the lower courts’ decision and allowed gay couples to marry their partners. This is not going over well with some Republicans and some, like former Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, is demanding that the party stand up and defend its values.

Huckabee warns that if the Republicans fail to lead, he and more like him, will leave the party and become members of the independent.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of American Family Association’s Today’s Issues program, Huckabee lambasted the Republican party and it’s leaders for allowing gays to marry and giving up on their so-called “moral” obligation in being the obvious superior party.

*Eyeroll*

“I am utterly exasperated with Republicans and the so-called leadership of the Republicans who have abdicated on this issue,” warning that by doing so the GOP will “guarantee they’re going to lose every election in the future.”

“Guarantee it,” he said before proclaiming that the Republicans are going to “lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing, Bible-believing people” if the party does not stand and fight on the issues of gay marriage and abortion.

“I’m gone,” Huckabee warned. “I’ll become an independent. I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand. I’m tired of this”:

Former Republican Director Wants to Kill All Ebola Victims

The former Executive Director of the South Carolina Republican party explained his plan for ebola victims here in these United States – kill them all!

The Republican took to twitter over the weekend and tweeted a bunch of hateful messages for all to see, explaining that your punishment for contracting the disease should be capital punishment.

“People with Ebola in the US need to be humanely put down immediately,” Todd Kincannon said.

The Republican’s venom continued to be unleashed: “The protocol for a positive Ebola test should be immediate execution and sanitation of the whole area. That will save lives,” he said in another tweet. Then he blamed the spread of Ebola on the people of Africa for: “Eating each other.”

When someone pointed out that not all ebola victims die, and asked if he would also kill the NBC cameraman being treated for the disease, the pro-life Republican answered, “with zero hesitation. ”

Go Home

I came across this article by Fred Barnes in The Weekly Standard because I happened to be trolling around right wing sites and thought he had a provocative, interesting idea. I also found a site that castigated Progressives for Palin Derangement Syndrome. You know, that knee-jerk negative reaction the left has whenever Palins’s name comes up. The author seemed to suggest that those on the left were offended by Palin’s obvious feminism and suggested that the left loved women’s rights and opinions, but not Palin’s. Especially when she was shown shooting a gun. What the author missed is that Sarah Palin just sounds uninformed whenever she speaks. I have plenty of respect for her as a woman, as a mother, as someone who wanted to serve the people of Alaska. I just happen to disagree with every single word she utters. Nothing more, nothing less.

But I digress.

Fred Barnes wants the GOP to Go Big or Go Home, hence the title of my response. He says that if only the Republicans would advocate abolishing the IRS and a stronger, more muscular foreign policy, then they would win the hearts and minds of the American people. He does say that these positions might not win the GOP the Senate this fall, but would provide a template for action that the party could run on in 2016.

The problem is that most Americans do not want to get rid of the IRS, even though they hate its very guts. Deep down, they understand that if the United States is going to make good on its mission to protect the homeland and the common good, then it will need funds and a means by which to collect them. That’s what the IRS does. What Mr. Barnes should really be advocating is that all the companies that evade U.S. corporate taxes should actually pay up. That might lessen the burden on the overburdened middle class and it might provide more funds for, you know, schools, roads, bridges, job programs and Medicare.

Barnes is not at all specific when he talks about why the country needs a more muscular foreign policy, or even what that looks like. I have a suspicion that it looks like a foreign policy that throws bombs and bullets on people who are either innocent or who already hate us to the point that more bombs and bullets will help their recruiting efforts. But he doesn’t say, so this is all conjecture.

The article is instructive because these positions are precisely why the GOP has only won one big election since 2008, when they took over the House in 2010. Every other election has gone to the Democrats despite the baying from the right that Obama is abusing his power and is wrong on every issue. Clearly, America does not agree with that.

And that’s why the Republicans will not win a majority in the Senate this fall, nor will they win the presidency in 2016.

Anti-Semite Neo-Zazi Running For Congress in Kentucky – PIC

Robert Ransdell is running for Senate in Kentucky. He wants to unseat the Republican Senator Mitch McConnell and is competing against Alison Lundergan Grimes. Robert Ransdell is a Neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic and a White Supremist, and I already know he will be welcomed in the Republican party if he wins. Of course, he has no chance of winning, but… just in case he does, Republicans will welcome him with open arms!

“I believe that there is no such thing as racial equality,” he said. “You see that in our cities every day.”

He’s counting on his online supporters to spread his message.

“Online we have had a lot of positive feedback,” Ransdell said. “We’re going to find out what kind of feedback we get once we go out and take it to the people here in the state of Kentucky.”

According to WLWT, the signs were actually illegal because they didn’t include the name and address of the people who paid for them. The signs at US 25 and Mt. Zion Road were taken down last week, as the property owner did not give Ransdell permission to put the signs up.

Ransdell isn’t only anti-Semitic, he’s a white supremacist. Ransdell laid out his campaign promises on the website Stormfront.org.

“The purpose of this campaign is for it to serve as a medium for pro-White/White Nationalist ideas and principles. The campaign will attempt to expose as many White people as possible to the facts regarding the Jewish role in America’s decline as well as highlight the destructive effects that multiculturalism, diversity, and political correctness have had on this country,” he wrote. “This campaign will not simply rest on informing people of the truth but will aim to inspire the people who are reached to work toward solutions to the problems Whites in America face today, solutions that the campaign will provide with much resolve and candor.”

Republican Drops Out of Race for Tweeting about “Fags” and “Niggers”

This Republican say the things other Republicans say. The only difference is, he got caught.

Jacob Dorsey, a 19-year-old candidate challenging Democratic state Rep. Deb Kolste, apologized last week for referring to gay people as “fags” in a tweet.

In December 2013, Dorsey tweeted “fags need 2 leave my favorite state alone” after a judge decided not to stay the ruling that struck down Utah’s gay marriage ban, according to the NOManiancs blog.

Now, Dorsey admitted that he made other offensive comments on Twitter and YouTube, which were discovered by the NOManiacs blog.

In comments on YouTube videos, he used the words “fags” and “niggers.” In one comment he said “Niggers trash cars. I’m not selling my town car to one…” according to NOManiac’s screenshots.

He also said “fuck Abraham Lincoln” and “I hate Obama and the the [sic] national urban bastards” in other comments.

Dorsey withdrew from the race and will return to school at Brigham Young University-Idaho, from which he took a semester off to campaign for state assembly.

This Republican Candidate Questions If the Sandy Hook Massacre Really Happened

He’s questioning the legitimacy of the event because, like all gun loving Republicans, everything is an attempt to take away their precious guns.

Meet Republican Tom Ready, who is running against Democratuc Pueblo County Commissioner, Sal Pace. Ready’s views on Sandy hook is well known. He even posted his views on his Facebook page. In a live televised debate last Wednesday,  Ready was asked if he stood by his belief that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax.

“There’s still a question about whether it really happened, Sal,” Ready blurted out. He continued.

“Some of the people, if you recall, there was a picture of a man walking in whose daughter had died, he was smiling and joking. When he walked into the room, he turned and all of a sudden had tears in his eyes. Why? I question that.

“There’s nothing wrong with an open discussion.”

And you wonder why the Republican party is the laughing stock of the nation.
