John Boehner is Gone, Mitch McConnell Now In Their Crosshairs

Now that John Boehner is stepping down from being the Republican Speaker of the House, many conservative “hardliners” – or should I say, the Teapartiers – have set their sights on the Republican Leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell.

Boehner’s move seemed only to embolden the hardliners. Several on Capitol Hill and off suggested that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., would be their next target, and the group Tea Party Patriots began circulating a petition calling for his removal.

McConnell had pledged that the GOP Congress would show voters that Republicans can govern in the runup to the 2016 elections. But conservatives complain that the GOP takeover of the Senate this year has not yielded results, and now a House run by less-proven leaders may test McConnell’s promise once more.

“Mitch McConnell is infinitely worse as a leader than Boehner. He surrenders at the sight of battle every time,” said Rep. Matt Salmon, R-Ariz., one of the rebels. “We made a lot of promises to the American people that if we took the Senate that we would do certain things and those things have not been accomplished.”

Liz Cheney To Drop Out of Wyoming Senate Race

WASHINGTON — Liz Cheney intends to withdraw from the Wyoming Republican Senate primary, according to two sources familiar with her plans, bringing an abrupt end to her unsteady challenge to the incumbent, Michael B. Enzi.

Ms. Cheney, 47, the former vice president’s elder daughter, is expected to drop out of the race this week, citing family reasons. She did not respond to emails and phone calls late Sunday.

Since declaring her candidacy in July against Mr. Enzi, a well-liked, three-term Senate veteran, Ms. Cheney not only never found traction but also wound up causing deep rifts among longtime friends and even within her own family.

Her task was always going to be difficult. Unlike some of the other sitting Republican senators who have been challenged in primaries in recent years, Mr. Enzi has a solidly conservative voting record and did not present the sort of vulnerabilities Ms. Cheney could exploit. But Ms. Cheney never was able to focus much on her opponent, spending much of her five-month candidacy fending off distractions to her campaign.

Alec Baldwin Either Quit MSNBC, Or Alec Baldwin Was Fired by MSNBC

No one really knows for sure, but Baldwin’s Up Late almost 2 months rondavous with the cable news network is up.

The show, “Up Late,” launched in October and featured Baldwin talking softly with various guests — ranging from politicians to actors.

But behind the scenes, there were clashes between staffers on the show and the anger-prone actor.

“Both sides seemed to not be able to work with each other,” an insider said.

“He told them he didn’t want to work on the show and they said well, we don’t want you working on it,” a source close to the situation said.

Baldwin has been fuming over how MSNBC suspended his program on the heels of his latest public outburst, while tensions between the actor and staffers on the show have been growing steadily since its October debut.

One meltdown at MSNBC allegedly included demands for a personal humidifier and his own makeup room because a woman he would have been sharing it with has cancer and a sensitivity to hairspray.

An insider blasted the allegation as “completely false and coming from someone who is now upset that their job is in jeopardy because the show is not continuing.”

Network officials put Baldwin on ice almost two weeks ago after he lashed out at photographer in Manhattan, allegedly calling him a “c–ksucking f-g.”

When the video of the incident went viral on TMZ, the actor then insisted he actually called the photographer a “c–ksucking fathead.”

Publicly, both sides are claiming the severing of ties was mutual.

“We are jointly confirming that ‘Up Late’ will not continue on MSNBC,” a rep for the actor told The News.

“This is a mutual parting, and we wish Alec all the best,” said a rep for the network.

Jon Huntsman Ends Campaign Calling For Unity, While Engaging In Divisive Lies

Today, Jon Huntsman – the man most people believed was the sanest, most sensible candidate in the Republican party running for his party’s nomination for president – officially quit the race.

Huntsman ended his campaign asking for “unity and trust.” In his speech, he mentioned the divisive politics that has separated and divided this country, then engaged in the same divisive politics he spent his speech denouncing, by claiming that President Obama is engaging in “class warfare.”

Let’s invest out time and resources in building trust with the American people, and uniting them around a common purpose. Three years ago, the President promised to unite the American people, yet his desire to engage in class warfare for political gain has left us more divided than ever.

Huntsman then continued his call for unity and trust.

Maybe Huntsman wasn’t the best, most sane and sensible candidate after-all. Something is definitely wrong with a person who calls for and preaches trust and unity, then in the same sentence, spews lies with the sole intent of causing mistrust and divisiveness.

Good riddance Huntsman, you had a lot of people fooled.

Is Rick Perry Delusional Or Is He Just a Fool

Rick Perry got a massive 5% of the votes in Iowa, then lastnight in New Hampshire, 1% of voters still chose Perry, although he didn’t compete in the state. But instead of doing what other famous quitters like Sarah Palin and now Michele Bachmann have done and gracefully bow out, Perry still think there is hope for the corpse that is his campaign.

“South Carolina is the next stop,” Perry said in his statement. “I have a head start here, and it’s friendly territory for a Texas governor and veteran with solid outsider credentials, the nation’s best record of job creation, and solid fiscal, social and Tea Party conservatism.”

The latest polls from South Carolina show Perry in fifth place with 5 percent support. Romney places first in those polls.

Well, we never accused him of being a math wizard, but someone should advise Mr. Perry that 5% support does not equal a “head start,” nor does it signal “friendly terrority.”

The Crazy Bachmann Antics Are Now Suspended… Until Further Notice

If last night was any indication, we already knew Michele Bachmann was gonna quit. In her concession speech – after pulling in only 5% of the primary votes in Iowa – Bachmann, the senator from Minnesota who was actively pursuing the presidency, told her handful of supporters that she “was not a politician.”

“I am a very real person,” Bachmann said, “I am not a politician, nor do I ever hoped or aspire to be a politician.”

Okaaaaaaay.

Bachmann then went on to tell her audience that her campaign will continue, and that her hopes were to win the New Hampshire primaries next Tuesday.

But something happened after the microphones were turned off; after the camera crew packed up and left, wondering how they got stuck with the assignment of covering a loosing politician; after her supporters went home disappointed at squandering their precious votes. That ‘something’ was that  Bachmann checked her campaign purse and realized that all her campaign donations were spent. And the reality of the situation was a hard smack  to the face.

So, the camera crews gathered one last time, the microphone turned back on and today, sometime after 11am, Michele Bachmann stepped up to the podium;

“Last night the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice and so I have decided to stand aside…I will continue fighting to defeat the president’s agenda of socialism.”

We are saddened by Michele Bachmann’s departure from the Republican presidential race. She was crazy and her antics will be sorely missed.

For instance, like the time she reported that the swine flu epidemic in the 1970’s was caused by a Democratic president, Jimmy Carter, being in the White House, when in fact, a Republican named Gerald Ford was President.

And although there are still plenty of loonies running for the Republican nomination, Bachmann was truly one of the best.

Bye-bye Michele!

Teaparty To Bachmann – It’s Time For You To Go!

Michele Bachmann has worn out her welcome among her most loyal supporters – the Teaparty movement. She never had the support of the regular, normal thinking American, and now that President of the Teaparty group The American Majority Ned Ryun wrote, “It’s time for Michele Bachmann to go,” her already dead campaign just died again.

American Majority explains their reasons for burying Bachmann’s campaign, saying that although the congresswoman is the most vocal for the Teaparty movement and although she is the self-appointed leader of the Teaparty caucus in the House of Representatives, “she is a back-bencher!”

“I think it’s pretty obvious that Michele Bachmann is about Michele Bachmann… ”

“Let’s face it: she’s a back-bencher and has been a back bencher congressperson for years… This is not a serious presidential campaign.”

The group also accused Bachmann of trying to solidify her base now to get support for her new book. The group calls this obvious move by Bachmann, “a rightward shift,” saying, “(it) will come as the campaign works to hold on to its more conservative base of support in advance of the release of Bachmann’s new book next month.”

Surprise, Surprise!

Of course, Bachmann wouldn’t be Bachmann if she couldn’t find a conspiracy in this Teaparty message. She accused fellow Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry of being the originator of the message. Bachmann told CNN, “If Gov. Perry has something to say to me, he can come out to the debates and say it. But this is egg on the face unfortunately for the Perry campaign.”

Poor Rick Perry – His Son Lost His Job Because Of President Obama

Excuse me while I pass the tissues around. We’re all collectively crying for Rick Perry and his unfortunate family, as they suffer the consequences of the Obama Administration.

According to Anita Perry, Rick’s wife, her poor banker son lost his job because of President Obama’s regulations. So yes, the Perrys are just like us. They have first-hand experience of what if feels like to suffer from the effects of this wretched economy.

At a campaign stop for her husband in South Carolina, Mrs. Perry spoke with a voter, sharing his story about losing his job. Mrs. Perry, who couldn’t wait to tell the world about how terrible the Obama Administration is, and how all the regulations on corporations are causing so many others to lose their jobs as well, jumped in with her story;

“My son lost his job because of this administration,” she said.

Except for one thing…

Seems the young Perry – his name is Griffin btw – contrary to what Anita implies, didn’t actually lose his job at Deutsche Bank. He quit, but because he wanted to help his poor poor dad on the campaign trail. You see, Griffin’s dad is running for President.

Anita goes on explaining her son’s plight,

“He resigned his job two weeks ago because he can’t go out and campaign with his father because of SEC regulations,” she said. “He has a wife… he’s trying to start a business. So I can empathize.”

Yes, she empathizes…!

I remember when my dad was running for president I too had to quit my job…. oh wait… wrong lifetime.

With a show of hands –  how many of the millions of unemployed in the audience quit their high-paying corporate job to help their dad run for President? Hmmm…I’m not seeing any hands.

Yes, the Perrys are suffering just like us, and it’s all Obama’s fault!

Gingrich Campaign Falling Apart

This is a big LOL! moment. The Huffington Post is reporting that Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has a major problem – his campaign staffers are heading for the door in droves.

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich’s campaign manager, senior strategists and key aides in early delegate-selection states all resigned on Thursday, a mass exodus that leaves his hopes of winning the Republican nomination in tatters.

Rick Tyler, Gingrich’s spokesman, said he, campaign manager Rob Johnson and senior strategists had resigned, along with aides in the early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Other officials said Gingrich was informed that his entire high command was quitting in a meeting earlier in the day. They cited differences over the direction of the campaign but were not more specific.

Maybe they all saw something shiny on the outside and decided to go investigate. How easily they get distracted.

Gingrich said he is determined to continue his campaign. At this rate, he may be doing it all by himself.

Anthony Weiner MSNBC Politics Slut

Ed Shultz – The Pot Calling The Weiner Black

Fresh off his very own one week suspension for calling Laura Ingraham a “Slut,” Ed Shultz – host of the nightly 10PM time slot on MSNBC called The Ed Show – tore into Anthony Weiner, demanding that the congressman retire his seat in House of Representatives, telling his audience on Monday night’s show, Anthony Weiner lied, and his constituents may no longer trust the congressman.

Now, as an American worker put yourself in the Congressman’s position. He’s tweeting pictures to a girl half his age on company time and lying about it to the boss. By the way, you’re the taxpayer. You’re the boss. Do you think you would survive that in your workplace?

Maybe you would. Maybe that’s just the way America and society is now. I have no interest in Congressman Weiner’s private life. He and his wife, I think, have got quite a bit to deal with and work out at this point. He made this a public issue. He did it. When he lied repeatedly during a media tour that lasted a week.

This is about trust. Do you trust what he says now? This is about character. And this is about the people and what the people of this country deserve in elected officials. All of the people that have gotten in trouble before I’ve advocated them resigning because the taxpayers deserve total focus. Congressman Weiner, if you believe in yourself, you will resign and you will come back and run again in 2012 because that’s what the taxpayers deserve.

Ed spent the majority of his show talking about Rep. Anthony Weiner and asking his many guests whether they believe the congressman should retire. None of the guest including Rev. Al Sharpton supported Shultz’s call for Weiner to step down.

Even a telephone poll conducted on the show showed strong disagreement with Ed’s position, with over 67% wanting Weiner to continue as Representative of New York, and just 33% siding with Mr. Shultz.

This is one time Ed should listen to his viewers.

Anthony Weiner has always been one of the loudest voices in Congress when it comes to fighting for the middle class American worker. He has represented New York well. He has never claimed to be an angel, and neither is Ed Shultz. Ed calls Ingraham a “slut”, apologized, and maintains his job. Weiner sent half nude photos of himself, apologized, but Ed wants him to quit.

Come on Ed, you cannot be more wrong on this matter.

Is Comcast Behind Keith Olbermann’s Departure From Countdown?

Keith Olbermann

One of the most trusted and respected voices on MSNBC sent shockwaves throughout the cable news industry tonight with eight words: “This will be the last episode of Countdown!”

Keith Olbermann’s announcement on tonight’s edition of his show brought a shocking, but not a totally unexpected end to the eight year run of the network show. And after Mr. Olbermann said his goodbyes to the audience, social networks like Twitter and Facebook buzzed with the news.

Olbermann was always one of the balancing voices against the insanity of today’s Republican party, Fox News and the right winged propaganda machine, so speculations about his abrupt removal from the MSNBC line-up are sure to be the topic for quite awhile.

MSNBC’s statement concerning the news:

MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of  “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

In announcing his departure, Olbermann told the viewers;

“I was supposed to fill in for the late Jerry Nachman for exactly three days. 49 days later there was a four-year contract for me to return to this nightly 8 PM time slot which I had fled from four years earlier.”

The program grew thanks entirely to your support with great rewards for me and I hope for you. There were many occasions particularly in the last two and a half years where all that surrounded the show — but never the show itself — was just too much for me. But your support and loyalty and if I may use the word insistence ultimately required that I keep going.”

It should be noted that Comcast recently got the approval to acquire MSNBC, so this decision to end Countdown With Keith Olbermann seems a little more than just a coincidence. Comcast CEO, Brian Roberts was a co-chairman of the host committee at the 2000 Republican Convention, and Steve Burke, who served as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and President of Comcast Cable for more than five years, raised at least $200,000.00 for Geroge W. Bush’s re-election campaign.
