Is Ed Schultz Losing His MSNBC Job To Ezra Klein

Since the departure of Keith Olbermann from MSNBC some years back, Ed Schultz has unofficially picked up Keith’s banner and ran with it. He is now considered by some one of the most liberal host on the cable network. And with that label, Ed’s primetime television slot at 8PM weeknight receives a decent size audience. But according to reporting by The New York Times, Ed’s show may soon be history.

Brian Stelter, a Times Media reporter wrote a piece about the future of MSNBC and compared the liberal leaning network to Fox News – the more conservative network. And coming to the end of the piece, Brian wrote:

Several MSNBC employees, who spoke about programming plans on the condition of anonymity, said the most likely candidate for a new show was the Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein, a frequent substitute for Ms. Maddow. Mr. Klein may start with a weekend time slot, but these people said the 8 p.m. weekday time slot held by Mr. Schultz was also a possibility.

Mr. Griffin, meanwhile, declined to comment on whether the performance of his prime-time lineup would provide a boost to the channel’s subscriber fees.

Of course the denials would come. When asked about this claim by Mediaite,  a spokesperson for MSNBC released the following statement:

“We’re very happy with the performance of our primetime lineup, which topped Fox News Channel three nights this week. There are no changes planned.”

The announcement was made by Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC.

PoliticsNation will debut on August 29. In his new role, Sharpton will lead a lively and informed discussion of the top headlines, bringing viewers his take on events in his signature style. “I’ve known Rev. Sharpton for over a decade and have tremendous respect for him. He has always been one of our most thoughtful and entertaining guests,” said Griffin. “I’m thrilled that he’s now reached a point in his career where he’s able to devote himself to hosting a nightly show. ‘PoliticsNation’ is going to be an incredibly strong kick-off to our evening schedule.”

Ed Shultz – The Pot Calling The Weiner Black

Fresh off his very own one week suspension for calling Laura Ingraham a “Slut,” Ed Shultz – host of the nightly 10PM time slot on MSNBC called The Ed Show – tore into Anthony Weiner, demanding that the congressman retire his seat in House of Representatives, telling his audience on Monday night’s show, Anthony Weiner lied, and his constituents may no longer trust the congressman.

Now, as an American worker put yourself in the Congressman’s position. He’s tweeting pictures to a girl half his age on company time and lying about it to the boss. By the way, you’re the taxpayer. You’re the boss. Do you think you would survive that in your workplace?

Maybe you would. Maybe that’s just the way America and society is now. I have no interest in Congressman Weiner’s private life. He and his wife, I think, have got quite a bit to deal with and work out at this point. He made this a public issue. He did it. When he lied repeatedly during a media tour that lasted a week.

This is about trust. Do you trust what he says now? This is about character. And this is about the people and what the people of this country deserve in elected officials. All of the people that have gotten in trouble before I’ve advocated them resigning because the taxpayers deserve total focus. Congressman Weiner, if you believe in yourself, you will resign and you will come back and run again in 2012 because that’s what the taxpayers deserve.

Ed spent the majority of his show talking about Rep. Anthony Weiner and asking his many guests whether they believe the congressman should retire. None of the guest including Rev. Al Sharpton supported Shultz’s call for Weiner to step down.

Even a telephone poll conducted on the show showed strong disagreement with Ed’s position, with over 67% wanting Weiner to continue as Representative of New York, and just 33% siding with Mr. Shultz.

This is one time Ed should listen to his viewers.

Anthony Weiner has always been one of the loudest voices in Congress when it comes to fighting for the middle class American worker. He has represented New York well. He has never claimed to be an angel, and neither is Ed Shultz. Ed calls Ingraham a “slut”, apologized, and maintains his job. Weiner sent half nude photos of himself, apologized, but Ed wants him to quit.

Come on Ed, you cannot be more wrong on this matter.

Rand Paul To Donald Trump: Are You A Registered Republican?

“I’ve come to New Hampshire today because I’m very concerned,” Rand Paul, the freshman Teaparty winner in Kentucky said. “I want to see the original long-form certificate of Donald Trump’s Republican registration.”

There was light laughter in the room, when Mr. Paul made the request during a breakfast speech on Thursday at the Merrimack County Republican Committee. Hearing the laughter, Mr. Paul added, “Seriously, don’t you think we need to see that?”

One day after Mr. Obama released his long-form birth certificate from the state of Hawaii – a move that was followed by Mr. Trump’s claim, during a visit to New Hampshire, that he believes he deserves credit for the president’s decision – Mr. Paul sought to turn-the-table on Trump. He gently urged Republicans to take notice that Mr. Trump has contributed money to Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, and many other Democrats.

“I’m going to believe it when I see his embossed seal to his Republican registration,” said Mr. Paul, a rising figure in the Republican Party who is visiting New Hampshire this week during the Congressional recess. He spoke with a smile, but his words marked one of the first times that a leading Republican has challenged Mr. Trump’s ties to the party.

Your move chump, oops, I mean Trump!
