Anthony Weiner Considers A Run For Mayor

anthony-weiner-return8

As far as I’m concerned, seeing Anthony Weiner in any political office would be a blessing. Like Senator Bernie Sanders, Weiner was a fighter for the American middle class. He was know for his ability to hit the Republicans where it hurts, and was the one who coined the phrase, Republican Party is “a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry.

Mr. Weiner made a mistake. There are some who did worse things than he did, and they are still in government. It’s time we forgive, forget and move on.

Saying that he would like, at some point, to “ask people to give me a second chance,” Anthony D. Weiner, the former congressman who resigned in 2011 amid a scandal over his lewd online behavior, is mulling a run for mayor this year because “it’s now or maybe never for me.”

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, which was posted online Wednesday morning and is to be published in print on Sunday, Mr. Weiner cautioned that he did not know when he would decide about entering the race, and conceded that “the fact that I don’t know tells me I shouldn’t run. Or I should not run now.” He also acknowledged that he would be “the underdog in any race I ran,” citing a poll he commissioned earlier this year to gauge whether voters were prepared to forgive him and take him seriously as a candidate.

Mr. Weiner and his publicity-averse wife, Huma Abedin, sought in the interview to demonstrate that he was a changed and humbled man: a stay-at-home father living in what the magazine writer describes as a “sprawling apartment” on Park Avenue South, far from the Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods Mr. Weiner represented in the House of Representatives for more than a decade.

“Some people just don’t buy it,” Mr. Weiner said. “Like they just don’t have room for a second narrative about me.”

Since leaving Congress, Mr. Weiner has generally refrained from commenting on either the scandal that prompted his resignation or his political future. But his visibility has increased in recent months, first with a photo shoot in People magazine that featured Mr. Weiner and Ms. Abedin with their infant son, Jordan, and then, over the weekend, with tabloid photos of the family, paparrazzi-style.

Anthony Weiner Steps Back Into The Limelight

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner is taking another step back onto the political stage after the sexting scandal that upended his career.

Weiner has co-authored an opinion piece about the suffering in the Rockaways following Hurricane Sandy. The column, written with Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-Queens), appears in Wednesday’s Daily News.

Weiner said he was simply trying to shine a spotlight on the battered and frequently forgotten neighborhood, which he represented in Congress for more than a decade.

“I care very deeply about the people in Rockaway as well as Manhattan Beach and Sheepshead Bay,” he said in a brief interview with the News.

“I owe them my political career and they have been very good to my family. I want to make sure their plight is known.”

Weiner said the op-ed is not part of a plan to repair his public image – but it’s sure to stoke new talk of a potential political comeback.

Weiner stayed out of the spotlight after resigning his congressional seat last year. He said he wanted to heal his relationship with his wife, Huma Abedin, after “the damage I have caused.”

White House Decision was Final Nail in Antony Weiner’s Congressional Coffin

President Obama was willing to put up with a lot of Anthony Weiner’s antics — the bad boy congressman’s sexting with women he never met, tweeting pics of his own penis, and acid tongue.

But the White House finally got fed up when reports emerged that the pol was in contact with an underage girl.

According to a new book, the cold shoulder from the White House was the beginning of the end of Weiner’s career in Congress.

“We were willing to stand by him before, but I don’t see how we can do it any longer,” White House political director Patrick Gaspard is quoted as telling Weiner’s advisers.

With that, Weiner — who thought he could weather the scandal that started when he accidentally tweeted a crotch shot — lost his trademark bravado.

“I just can’t figure out what I should do,” Weiner told advisers.

Democrats Gift Wrapped New York District To Republicans

The seat had not gone to a Republican since the 1920’s, but on Tuesday, the heavily Democratic congressional seat left vacant by Anthony Weiner went back to Republican control, with the win of Bob Turner. Republicans also won a special election in northern Nevada, where Republican Mark Amodei led Democrat Kate Marshall, 56 percent to 39 percent almost from the start.

The New York seat was originally held by Anthony Weiner, but after his Twitter mishap where he lied about sending naked pictures of himself to various women, both Democrats and Republicans demanded his resignation. The Nevada election was to replace Republican John Ensign, after his affair with a married campaign worker and a later revelation of bribery.

Both Republicans in the races tied their winning over their Democratic challengers to President Obama and his handling of the economy, and with that, Republican conservative radio and television shows went rampant with this new talking point.

Reports indicated that the Nevada election was basically ignored by Democrats, as they believed they had no chance of winning the heavily Republican constituents in that district. But in New York, Democrats went into a frantic, final, last-minute push to save the seat dumping $500,000 into the race in the final days, after it became clear that the seat could go to a Republican.

Although the New York district could eventually be zoned out through re-districting, Democrats should have tried harder to avoid this victory to the Republicans. Giving them even more ammunition to spew their lies is simply not worth it. The talking points about this Republican win in New York and associating it to President Obama and the economy, will be around for a long, long time.

Anthony Weiner’s Seat Could Go Republican On Tuesday

With just a few hours remaining before the elections in New York, a new poll is showing that a congressional seat once held by former Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner, may now go to a Republican.

The Republican candidate has taken a surprising six-point lead over the Democrat in the closely watched special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by Anthony Weiner, who was forced to quit amid a sexting scandal, according to a Siena (College) Research Institute poll released on Friday.

Republican Robert Turner is ahead of Democrat David Weprin, 50% to 44%, in the latest survey of likely voters in the congressional district that covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens. In an Aug. 10 poll, Siena found that Weprin led Turner 48% to 42%.

Mr. Weiner was forced out of office by both Democrats and Republicans after secret “inappropriate” behavior came to light on Twitter.

The poll was conducted among 886 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.

Republican Councilman Texted Underwear Picture Too

A Republican councilman from Kenner New Orléans named Joe Stagni sent an underwear picture of himself using his smartphone. The photo was sent 18 months ago to Annamaria Pizzolato, who was Kenner’s internal auditor at the time.

Following the Anthony Weiner underwear episode earlier this month, Joe Stegni issued the following apology;

“I asked for God’s mercy and forgiveness. I apologized to my wife and family and asked for their forgiveness as well. My actions and bad judgment had nothing to do with my duties and responsibilities as a public official. They were private acts, but I take full responsibility for my irresponsible behavior. This matter has been a painful experience for my family and I pray that everyone will allow our family to continue to heal. I am sorry.”

The photo was found in Kenner computer records, and dated back to Dec. 23, 2009. The text message associated with the photo came from City Councilman Joe Stagni’s phone, and was sent  to internal auditor Annamaria Pizzolato.

According to reports, the text message associated with the picture said, “I’m n trouble – serious conversation wwife.”

Funny way to deal with being in trouble – send an underwear picture of yourself to the other woman, telling her you’re in trouble because your wife may have found out about the affair!

Classic Republican way to handle these issues.

Republicans Against Republicans In New York

There’s some wild political in-fighting going on in New York, and no, we’re not talking about the Anthony Weiner saga. This time it’s Republicans against Republicans and the fight’s about legalizing gay marriage, which Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic governor of the state, is doing all he can to push to legalize.

“This state has a proud tradition and a proud legacy as the progressive capital of the nation,” he said Friday. “We led the way, and it’s time for New York to lead the way once again.”

However, not all the legislatures see things Cuomo’s way. The state’s Republican politicians have been the main stumbling block and they’ve been on a mission to see that the Democratic efforts to legalize gay marriage fails. But there are cracks showing up in the united Republican’s stonewall against it, and one Senator has jumped ship and is calling his party out. His name is Roy McDonald, a 64-year-old Senator and this is what he said;

“You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn’t black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don’t care what you think. I’m trying to do the right thing. “I’m tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I’m trying to do the right thing, and that’s where I’m going with this.”

Of course, Republicans will now go out of their way to make sure Roy looses his seat next election, but like Roy said, he’s “trying to do the right thing.” Good to know there’s still some Republicans who will put party politics aside, and do what’s right.

Go Roy!

David Vitter Has A Job, But Anthony Weiner Decides To Retire

We called it here first. Moments after Anthony Weiner went infront of the podium and proclaimed that he was responsible for the tweet that started the so-called Weinergate – where his apparent sin was texting, then lying to the almighty press, claiming he didn’t have any idea who sent the personal text messages to different women –  we predicted that the next time Weiner gives a press conference, it will be to state his resignation.

Meanwhile, Republican David Vitter, the man who paid for sex from prostitutes while still a member of congress, still has a job as a member of congress.

Although we hoped to be wrong on that prediction, reports out today suggests we were right. Anthony Weiner is getting ready to announce his retirement from the House of Representatives. Chalk this one up as a win for the Republicans.

There was only so much Mr. Weiner could take. Pressure to retire was coming from both sides of the political divide, and his Democratic “friends” and leaders in congress all but turned their backs on their out-spoken Democratic congress member. From Leader Pelosi, who announced her intention to investigate Weinergate, to a Republican freshmen who called Weiner a “distraction,” to political talking heads like Ed Shultz, who seemed to be on a personal mission to get Mr. Weiner to resign.

But when President Obama earlier this week joined the chorus and suggested that “if it were me, I would resign,” Mr. Weiner saw the writing on the wall and realized that his fate was sealed.

We said it before and we’ll say it again. Losing Anthony Weiner is a major blow to the Democratic voice in Congress. He was an out-spoken member, and stood his grounds for the people of his district and for America’s middle class in general. Yes, chalk this one up for the Republicans, their job to eliminate the middle class without objection just got a little easier with Weiner out of the picture.

Anthony Weiner Leans Left. His Naked Weener Pic Revealed

It was bound to happen. Andrew Breitbart, the same guy who just a few days ago claimed that he wanted to protect Anthony Weiner by not releasing this photo of the congressman’s erect penis, went on Opie and Anthony’s radio show today and passed the picture on his cellphone around for all to see.

According to the description  given to explain how the photo was captured, a video camera in the studio caught the image, and voilà – it is spreading on the internet for all to see, and yes, it seems that the congressman – an avid left leaning Democrat – leans left in more ways than one.

The official explanation of how the photo was captured is shown in the video below:

And below is the picture, as captured by the camera in the studio.

Republican Morality King Donald Trump Calls Weiner A Psycho

Just when you thought we had heard the last of The Donald, he pops up again like a bad dream. This time, his excuse for showing off that critter on the top of his head, is the Anthony Weiner debacle that is playing out now in the media, you know… weinergate!

Of course Donald Trump is no reference point on the morality scale, but then again, which Republican politician is? Donald Trump was married to his first wife Ivana in 1977, but he couldn’t keep his “weener” in his pants and cheated on her with Marla Maples. Marla became his second wife in 1993. The two lovebirds stayed married… oh… sorry, the two divorced after a short 6 years, then The Donald married his third wife Melania Knauss. Between these three wives, The Morality King fathered 5 children.

And his moral standing more than qualifies Donald Trump to share his 2 cents on Anthony Weiner, the Democratic Representative from New York who sent pictures of himself to various women over a 3 year period, then lied to the media about it. Trump, being the one without sin in this case, cast his stones;

“Anthony Weiner is a bad guy, he’s a psycho and when this came out I was not surprised at all.  I’d watch him in interviews,  I’d watch him on television, I’ d hear what he’d say  and you could see he was like a boiler ready to explode,” said Trump.

“Little did anybody realize, especially me, that he’d get into this kind of trouble,” said Trump.  “I thought that his career was so important to him. The fact is what he was doing was more important or probably he just had a death wish.”

Now that the Donald has maneuvered his way back into the spotlight and is again commanding the short attention span of the so-called media, we should expect another book deal or something. This is how the Donald thinks – capture the limelight, then quickly make some money off the experience. Let’s see how much of a bump his Apprentice show gets now.

Ed Shultz – The Pot Calling The Weiner Black

Fresh off his very own one week suspension for calling Laura Ingraham a “Slut,” Ed Shultz – host of the nightly 10PM time slot on MSNBC called The Ed Show – tore into Anthony Weiner, demanding that the congressman retire his seat in House of Representatives, telling his audience on Monday night’s show, Anthony Weiner lied, and his constituents may no longer trust the congressman.

Now, as an American worker put yourself in the Congressman’s position. He’s tweeting pictures to a girl half his age on company time and lying about it to the boss. By the way, you’re the taxpayer. You’re the boss. Do you think you would survive that in your workplace?

Maybe you would. Maybe that’s just the way America and society is now. I have no interest in Congressman Weiner’s private life. He and his wife, I think, have got quite a bit to deal with and work out at this point. He made this a public issue. He did it. When he lied repeatedly during a media tour that lasted a week.

This is about trust. Do you trust what he says now? This is about character. And this is about the people and what the people of this country deserve in elected officials. All of the people that have gotten in trouble before I’ve advocated them resigning because the taxpayers deserve total focus. Congressman Weiner, if you believe in yourself, you will resign and you will come back and run again in 2012 because that’s what the taxpayers deserve.

Ed spent the majority of his show talking about Rep. Anthony Weiner and asking his many guests whether they believe the congressman should retire. None of the guest including Rev. Al Sharpton supported Shultz’s call for Weiner to step down.

Even a telephone poll conducted on the show showed strong disagreement with Ed’s position, with over 67% wanting Weiner to continue as Representative of New York, and just 33% siding with Mr. Shultz.

This is one time Ed should listen to his viewers.

Anthony Weiner has always been one of the loudest voices in Congress when it comes to fighting for the middle class American worker. He has represented New York well. He has never claimed to be an angel, and neither is Ed Shultz. Ed calls Ingraham a “slut”, apologized, and maintains his job. Weiner sent half nude photos of himself, apologized, but Ed wants him to quit.

Come on Ed, you cannot be more wrong on this matter.

Weiner Will Forever Be Remembered As Sending His Covered Weener On Twitter

The unfortunate part of this whole Weiner episode is that now, he will forever be remembered as the man who sent a picture of his covered weener on Twitter, instead of being remembered as the great Democratic voice in Congress.

Will Anthony Weiner survive this? No. We expect another press conference where Weiner will announce his resignation.
