Warren Buffett – Republicans Are Trying to “Blow America’s Brains Out!”

He is one of the richest man in America… in the world for that matter, and if the Republicans get their way, Warren Buffett would be the perfect example of the rich in America who will directly benefit from their no-tax policies. But Mr. Buffett is operating in the realm of reality, and he knows that what the Republicans are trying to do – balance the budget on the backs of the poor – is simply not possible. Warren Buffett is speaking out, saying that the Republicans are “playing Russian roulette” with America.

Today Mr Buffett, 80, hit out by claiming the GOP strategy was like a deadly game of chance involving passing around a six-chamber revolver loaded with a single bullet.

‘Five times out of six to raise the debt limit might not be dangerous, but the sixth time could have catastrophic consequences,’ he said at a Wall Street mogul conference in Sun Valley, Idaho.

He added that Republicans were ‘trying to use the incentive now that we’re going to blow your brains out, America, in terms of your debt worthiness over time.’

‘You’re playing with fire when you don’t need to play with fire,’ he also said, adding: ‘We raised the debt ceiling seven times during the Bush Administration,’

The U.S. ran into its $14.29 trillion debt ceiling on May 16, but has since used spending and accounting adjustments, as well as higher-than-expected tax receipts, to continue operating without impact on government obligations.
The Treasury has set August 2nd as the deadline for raising the debt ceiling past the $14.2 trillion mark. Republicans, many in congress who saw no problem raising the debt ceiling for previous Republican administrations, are now the stumbling block, and seem willing to see America default on paying its debts, a move many economists predict will be catastrophic worldwide.

Russell Simmons To The Rich – Stop Bitching, Pay Your Damn Taxes

Republicans have shown time and time again during these negotiations on raising the debt ceiling, that they are willing to allow the good faith and credit of America to be ruined, just to protect the tax loopholes their rich friends enjoy. Loopholes like providing $600 billion a year to oil companies and giving tax breaks to companies who close down businesses in America and open those same businesses in other countries. Well, Russell Simmons, a millionaire whose net worth is listed as over $340 million, has some choice words for his fellow millionaire friends: “Stop bitching and pay your damn taxes!”

Mr. Simmons wrote a piece in Huffington Post in which he rightly criticizes Republicans for attempting to balance the budget on the backs of the middle class and poor, while the rich gets richer.

To all my Republican friends, billionaires and multi-millionaires, stop bitching and pay your damn taxes. How dare you make record profits and not want to contribute more to fixing our problems while some in our country are suffering the worst economic times since the Great Depression? I DON’T NEED A TAX BREAK. I AM RICH. AND SO ARE YOU!

He then questions the wisdom of American citizens who would support Republican candidates who only have intentions of protecting millionaires.

Who amongst us is stupid enough to support politicians that want to protect guys with corporate jets and five homes around the world? What rock are we living under? I know this may not sound like the voice of a yogi, but even Krishna would have told Arjuna stop crying and pay your damn taxes. So, stop this nonsense and start giving.

Simmons then questioned the claim by many rich folks who claimed they “worked hard,” to  attain their wealth and asked them, “what box you lifted today?” He continued;

Most of you, not all of you, but most of you got some lucky break or your daddy left you all that you needed. I know, for one, I am one of the very lucky ones. Talent was a small second to the luck I’ve had while building my businesses. The “hard work” is the fun part; the only happiness we get is derived from that service.

He then praised the efforts of President Obama for wanting to put politics aside to get America back on the right economic track, while the rich and their Republican friends exert no effort to do the same.

The President has shown he is willing to make compromises and make difficult decisions to put this country back on the right track while it seems that all you want to do is play Russian roulette with the most vulnerable people of our nation. The President is showing leadership and you Republicans are showing how silver your pockets are lined by the corporate interests. That is not acceptable and you should be targeted for support. You ought to know full well that we cannot decrease our deficit by only cutting our spending. We MUST raise revenue. And those who have made the most should give the most.

And we couldn’t agree with him more. Because of the policies and hard work of middle class Americans, the rich in this country have prospered beyond their wildest dreams. It is only right that now when the country needs their support, they should pick up the slack and do their share. The middle class and the poor are already carrying the majority of the burden.

Jon Stewart And Jerry Seinfeld – Is Marcus Bachmann Gay?

Okay, I’ll admit it. Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, you can watch someone’s behavior, their mannerism, the way they talk, walk and dress, and from these appearances, you can most of the time accurately determine the sexual orientation of that person. Most of the time…

Have you ever seen Marcus Bachmann’s movements or listen to his speech patterns? My opinion is not conclusive, but in my view, it all points to one thing…

Marcus opened a clinic with his wife and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, and their claim to fame is the ability to cure gay people.

It is with this in mind I direct your attention to the video below, where Jon Stewart tries to figure out Michele Bachmann’s husband’s preference. And while having some, um, issues trying to come to an initial conclusion, Mr. Stewart invites Jerry Seinfeld to contribute his opinion.

In the end, the conclusion is made that Bachmann’s husband Marcus, cures gays, so he can “hoard all the gayness for himself.”

Moody’s Place America’s Triple A Ratings On Notice For Downgrade

And so it begins. The triple A(Aaa) ratings that America has enjoyed since 1917 was put on notice for a downgrade today by Moody’s Investors Service.

Bloomberg reports that Moody’s took this initial move to lower America’s credit ratings over “concern(s) the debt threshold will not be raised in time to prevent a missed payment of interest or principal on outstanding bonds and notes even though the risk remains low”.  Additionally, the report stated that Moody’s  “…rating would likely be reduced to the Aa range…”  and  that ” …that there is no assurance that Moody’s would return its top rating even if a default is quickly cured.”

Meanwhile, Republicans continue protecting the tax loopholes for the rich.

Mitch McConnell – “I Refuse To Help Barack Obama Get Re-Elected!”

For the 3 people in the entire world, who think Mitch McConnell is sincerely trying to work with the President to set America on solid economic ground, this one’s for you. Today, the Republican Senate minority leader clearly stated his reasoning for coming up with a “solution” to the debt ceiling, saying, ” I refuse to help Barack Obama get reelected by marching Republicans into a position where we have co-ownership of a bad economy.”

“We knew shutting down the government in 1995 was not going to work for us. It helped Bill Clinton get reelected. I refuse to help Barack Obama get reelected by marching Republicans into a position where we have co-ownership of a bad economy. It didn’t work in 1995. What will happen is the administration will send out to 80 million Social Security recipients and to military families and they will all start attacking members of Congress. That is not a useful place to take us. And the president will have the bully pulpit to blame Republicans for all this disruption.

“If we go into default he will say Republicans are making the economy worse. And all of a sudden we have co-ownership of a bad economy. That is a very bad position going into an election. My first choice was to do something important for the country. But my second obligation is to my party and my conference to prevent them from being sucked into a horrible position politically that would allow the president, probably, to get reelected because we didn’t handle this difficult situation correctly.”

Meanwhile, America’s economy moves closer to the brink of a second Great Depression. But no surprise here. This is the same Republican leader who said his number one priority was making sure the  President is a one-term president.

Obama Raises Twice As Much As All G.O.P. Candidates Combined

President Obama just set another record, shattering the White House record for presidential election fund-raising in the first 3 months of his re-election campaign. The Obama 2012 Campaign Manager, Jim Messina, made the announcement earlier today stating that in the first quarter of fund-raising, $86 million dollars was collected. Obama’s record also beat the efforts of all the Republican candidates combined.

In his 2004 re-election, former President Bush raised $50 million.

 Politico reports;

The total amount Obama raised in the first three months of 2011 also amounted to more than twice the $35 million raised collectively by the announced field of Republican presidential candidates.

“It’s a monumental achievement,” Messina said.

In order to compete against the special interests groups and secret corporate funds expected to drive the Republican nominee’s campaign, the president would have to raise an estimated  $1 billion dollars for his re-election.

Only $914 million dollars to go!

Republicans Vote To Defund Space Exploration

The Republicans in the House of Representatives have been on a rampage, trying to take as much from the middle class as they’re allowed to, and in many ways, they have succeeded. Now, House Republicans are turning their cross-hairs on NASA and one project they are aiming to shutd0wn is the James Webb Space Telescope, a device that will replace the Hubble Space Telescope, and promises to take space exploration to a whole new level.

Work on the James Webb Space Telescope began in 2004, and had an original cost of $1.6 billion. It is scheduled to launch in 2016 and compared with its more advanced technologies to the Hubble, the James Webb Telescope will be able to go further into space where no man or machine has ever gone – an estimated distance of 1 million miles outside the earth’s atmosphere, capturing images from the formations of galaxies and stars, images never seen by man.

Although the project began 7 years ago, the original costs were grossly understated. The $1.6 billion has ballooned to more than $6.5 billion, and for this reason, House Republicans have voted to strip the James Webb Telescope of $1.9 billion, effectively killing the entire project. The only hope for the project to continue would be the Democratic controlled Senate, who must also vote on the measure.

Tod Lauer, of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory in Tucson, had this to say about the Republican’s decision to defund the project:

“[Cancellation] would be an unmitigated disaster for cosmology. After two decades of pushing the Hubble to its limits, which has revolutionised astronomy, the next step would be to pack up and give up. The Hubble is just good enough to see what we’re missing at the start of time.” The James Webb would be able to fill in those gaps.”

The good thing is, Neil Armstrong already landed on the moon. This batch of Republicans would have tried taking that away too.

Republican Suggests Impeaching President Obama For Maybe Invoking The 14th Amendment

Section 4 of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution says:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.

Because of this amendment, many suggests that Congressional authorization to raise the debt ceiling is not necessary, as not doing so would mean that America defaults on its obligation to pay its debt, thus, going against the 14th amendment of the constitution.

Republicans – who have stood their ground in insisting that raising the debt ceiling is not going to happen – are now scrambling to find a way to defeat section 4 of the 14th amendment. Some have suggested an amendment to the 14th amendment and others like Rep. Tim Scott of South Carolina, went even further. He wants to impeach President Obama if the President even thinks about trying to raise the debt ceiling without congress. The South Carolina representative recently told a teaparty audience;

“This president is looking to usurp congressional oversight to find a way to get it done without us. My position is that is an impeachable act from my perspective.”

There are a lot of things people say, ‘Are you going to impeach the president over that?’ — No. But this? This is catastrophic. This jeopardizes the credibility of our nation if one man can usurp the entire system set up by our founding fathers over something this significant.”

It should be noted that President Obama has never mentioned an intent to “usurp the entire system.” As a matter of fact, this president has gone the extra mile trying to bring both Republicans and Democrats to the table, in an effort to get the Congressional authorization necessary for allowing America to pay her bills.

But then again, Republicans like Tim Scott would like to impeach President Obama just for being president.

Only In America – Rob A Bank To Get Health Care

Every warm-blooded American – Democrats, Republicans and Independents – should hang our heads in shame when we have fellow Americans, fellow human beings, who are pushed to such limits that they feel that their last resort for getting healthcare is to go to jail.

That is the story of James Richard Verone, a 59-year-old man who worked for the  Coca-Cola Company for 17 years. Verone prided himself for his work and his dedication to the company, but after he lost his job 3 years ago, he  had to take other work to make ends meet. His last job as a convenience store clerk was a strain and magnified the different ailments Verone suffered from. His back hurt and problems with his left foot caused him to limp. He suffered from arthritis in his fingers and carpal tunnel syndrome. He soon lost that job because he was physically unable to perform his duties and then the reality of his situation set in… Verone was unemployed, no savings and no healthcare.

With his options reduced, Verone turned to the government, but all he qualified for was food stamps. The triggering point was when he noticed a growth on his chest. He had a plan, and began implementing it.

As his bank account depleted and the day of execution got closer, Verone sold and donated his furniture. He paid his last month’s rent and gave his notice.

He moved into the Hampton Inn for the last couple of days. Then on June 9 he followed his typical morning routine of getting ready for the day.

He took a cab down New Hope Road and picked a bank at random — RBC Bank.

Verone didn’t want to scare anyone. He executed the robbery the most passive way he knew how. He handed the teller a note demanding one dollar, and medical attention.

“I didn’t have any fears,” said Verone. “I told the teller that I would sit over here and wait for police.”

The teller, however, did have some fears even though Verone never showed a weapon. Her blood pressure shot up and once Verone was handcuffed by police, the teller was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Verone said he was sorry for causing the woman any pain.

He has a lot to say on the subject of socialized medical care. He suspects he wouldn’t be talking to a reporter through a metal screen wearing an orange jumpsuit if such an option were available in the U.S.

“If you don’t have your health you don’t have anything,” said Verone.

The man has high hopes with his recent incarceration.

He has seen several nurses and has an appointment with a doctor Friday.

It’s something we say all the time when we want to show America’s exceptionalism – only in America. “Only in America is my story possible,” we would say… or “only in America will you find all these opportunities.” But the ‘only in America’ phrase is also true for Verone’s story, for no other advanced nation on earth would have citizens who have to commit a crime to get health care. Only in America.

Meanwhile, Republicans are promising to repeal health care reform…

Obama Kicked Off Stage For Dissing Republicans – Video

LOL! – Okay, okay… It wasn’t really President Obama, but he was a very good impersonator. His name is Reggie Brown, and he appeared at a Republican organized event, where bashing the President was on the menu. Republicans in the audience laughed at the sight of the president look-alike criticizing Barack Obama, but when Reggie turned the tables on the 2012 Republican presidential contenders, organizers quickly kicked Brown off stage.

Ron Paul – I Would Have Voted Against The Civil Rights Act of 1964

The Republican candidate for President, Ron Paul, just confirmed what we already knew – that he is against the 1964 Civil Rights law that outlawed different forms of discrimination against blacks and women.

The Republican/Libertarian appeared on the show Hardball with Chris Mathews and made his feelings against The Act known. His son Rand Paul, stated the same sentiments against the Civil Rights Act when he successfully ran for Senate in 2010.
