Why Soda Is Bad for You

Is soda really bad for you? Yes. Very bad. All of it: Pepsi, Coke, Sprite, Seven Up, Mountain Dew, Root Beer. It’s all bad for you. How do you know? Pick up a can or bottle and read the ingredients. 2-methylimidazole. Do you know what that is? You’re not supposed to know. You’re not supposed to read the ingredients.

Let’s start with how much sugar there is in soda. Except they don’t say sugar. Aspartame, cyclamate, saccharine, acesulfame-k, sucralose, by any other name it’s sugar and it’s all nutritionally empty and it all contributes to obesity and diabetes. And it’s addicting. Those soda execs are no dummies.
Consider also that all colas contain phosphates or phosphoric acid. Too much of these can lead to heart or kidney problems and trigger accelerated aging.

The artificial sweeteners don’t break down in our bodies. They end up in waste treatment facilities and then in our waterways. The bromated vegetable oil in Mountain Dew (called BVO) is an industrial chemical known to cause memory loss and nerve disorder.
Aspartame raises blood glucose levels and when your liver has too much glucose, the excess becomes body fat. Non diet sodas can cause fat build up around your liver and your skeletal muscles.

Aluminum cans are lined with a resin called bisphenol. It’s known to interfere with hormones and linked to obesity, diabetes and some kinds of reproductive cancer.
The caramel coloring in brown colas contains 2-methylimidozole and 4-methylimidazole. They have been found to cause cancer in animals.

There are so many other things you can drink besides soda. Is the health risk worth it? Read the ingredients on your next can of soda. Do you know what they are? Do you know what effect they have on your body? Do you trust the big soda companies to have your best interests in mind?

Bottled Water – Dasani Is Just Purified Tap Water

(NaturalNews) As more and more people wake up to the dangers of fluoride, chlorine, pharmaceuticals, and the many other toxic compounds found in municipal water supplies, the market for bottled water has exploded. But in the process, some major food and beverage corporations have unwittingly begun peddling that very same tap water in bottles as “pure,” a deceptive labeling term that is the subject of a new trade controversy in Europe.

According to a recent report by Occupy Monsanto, the Dasani water brand, which is owned by beverage giant Coca-Cola, is one such bottled water counterfeit, if you will, that contains purified tap water dressed in fancy-looking bottles. Like many other bottled water brands, Dasani is sold at a premium price, and many people perceive it to be superior to tap water, even though it actually is just tap water.

Even though the majority of the impurities have admittedly been removed from Dasani water, and minerals added back in, many people do not realize that the water contained in Dasani bottles is not actually from a natural spring. If you read closely the labels found on water bottles, it usually spells out the source where the water inside was derived. But this information is often overlooked by consumers who believe they are buying something superior.

“Figures from independent beverage research company Canadean show that at least two out of every five bottles of water sold around the world are, like Dasani, ‘purified’ waters, rather than ‘source’ waters which originate from a spring,” explains Trevor Datson in an Occupy Monsanto piece. “Most of the supermarket own-label bottled waters consist of treated mains water. In short, they are subjected to many of the same treatments that source waters undergo to satisfy public health requirements after being pumped up from the ground.”

The significance of this is that water specifically derived from a natural spring actually is superior to the water supplied by the local tap, at least in most cases. Many people who buy bottled water assume their water comes from a spring, because this is how the bottled water industry got its start. But today, brands like Dasani, Aquafina, and Sparkletts have captured significant market share by engaging in what some would called deceptive advertising.

Only In America – Rob A Bank To Get Health Care

Every warm-blooded American – Democrats, Republicans and Independents – should hang our heads in shame when we have fellow Americans, fellow human beings, who are pushed to such limits that they feel that their last resort for getting healthcare is to go to jail.

That is the story of James Richard Verone, a 59-year-old man who worked for the  Coca-Cola Company for 17 years. Verone prided himself for his work and his dedication to the company, but after he lost his job 3 years ago, he  had to take other work to make ends meet. His last job as a convenience store clerk was a strain and magnified the different ailments Verone suffered from. His back hurt and problems with his left foot caused him to limp. He suffered from arthritis in his fingers and carpal tunnel syndrome. He soon lost that job because he was physically unable to perform his duties and then the reality of his situation set in… Verone was unemployed, no savings and no healthcare.

With his options reduced, Verone turned to the government, but all he qualified for was food stamps. The triggering point was when he noticed a growth on his chest. He had a plan, and began implementing it.

As his bank account depleted and the day of execution got closer, Verone sold and donated his furniture. He paid his last month’s rent and gave his notice.

He moved into the Hampton Inn for the last couple of days. Then on June 9 he followed his typical morning routine of getting ready for the day.

He took a cab down New Hope Road and picked a bank at random — RBC Bank.

Verone didn’t want to scare anyone. He executed the robbery the most passive way he knew how. He handed the teller a note demanding one dollar, and medical attention.

“I didn’t have any fears,” said Verone. “I told the teller that I would sit over here and wait for police.”

The teller, however, did have some fears even though Verone never showed a weapon. Her blood pressure shot up and once Verone was handcuffed by police, the teller was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Verone said he was sorry for causing the woman any pain.

He has a lot to say on the subject of socialized medical care. He suspects he wouldn’t be talking to a reporter through a metal screen wearing an orange jumpsuit if such an option were available in the U.S.

“If you don’t have your health you don’t have anything,” said Verone.

The man has high hopes with his recent incarceration.

He has seen several nurses and has an appointment with a doctor Friday.

It’s something we say all the time when we want to show America’s exceptionalism – only in America. “Only in America is my story possible,” we would say… or “only in America will you find all these opportunities.” But the ‘only in America’ phrase is also true for Verone’s story, for no other advanced nation on earth would have citizens who have to commit a crime to get health care. Only in America.

Meanwhile, Republicans are promising to repeal health care reform…
