Will President Obama Win The Republican Nomination Battle?

On Fox News yesterday, this graphic of all the Republicans running for President in 2012 was shown on the Magyan Kelly Show. What exactly is wrong with this picture? If you’re a Fox viewer, then let me point it out. Look at who is in second place. If you still can’t figure it out, then we can’t help you. Sorry.

The graphic was prominently displayed on confused viewers’ television screens for about 20 seconds. Later on in the show, Kelly jokingly apologized for the error saying, “As it turns out they are not the same man. Not philosophically, not ideologically, not in any other way… our apologies for that error.”

But what was even more shocking than the graphic, was Fox admitting they had made a mistake. If apologizing was a common routine for this network,  it would be a 24 hour job, consisting of at least three different shifts.

Math And Fox News Are Not Friends

From Gawker – This is too good not to repost.

The junior high school students who run the Fox News Charts Shop during detention have produced this latest visual explosion showcasing the unemployment rate’s fluctuations under our current president, Obama. Some interesting findings here, specifically that the number 8.6 is the same thing as the number 9.0. If Obama can just get the unemployment rate down from 8.6% to 8.8% or 8.9%, then he’ll be in the clear.

I bet their viewers still can’t see what’s wrong here.

Donald Trump Gets Angry – Yells At Chuck Todd In Interview

That’s what you get when you ask a  nincompoop on your show for an interview. You get a nincompoop response to your question and everyone else watching collectively say, “you asked for that, you should have known better!”

That’s what MSNBC’s Chuck Todd got today when he tried interviewing Donald Trump. Straight off the bat, Donald went into a tirade, accusing Todd of lying and making sure the world know that MSNBC called him, The Donald, and not the other way around.

Chuck Todd asked Donald to respond to a poll of Republicans, where the majority of respondents said they are not likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump. This made Trump livid. We’re sure he popped his wig at the poll’s suggestion that he is not as popular with Republicans as he would like to think.

Donald Trump is a regular on Fox News program. You can bet Fox will show this clip on a loop when the nincompoop makes his next appearance.

Steve Jobs Called Fox News A “Destructive Force In Our Society”

The man behind the success of Apple,  called Rubert Murdoch’s Fox News a “destructive force in our society.” Mr. Jobs then scolded Rupert, telling him that destruction will be his legacy if he doesn’t change the direction of the network.

The information was written in Walter Isaacson’s new book, and mentions Jobs remarks to Murdoch after a News Corp. retreat;

“You’re blowing it with Fox News,” Jobs told him over dinner. “The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you’ve cast your lot with the destructive people. Fox has become an incredibly destructive force in our society. You can be better, and this is going to be your legacy if you’re not careful.” Jobs said he thought Murdoch did not really like how far Fox had gone. “Rupert’s a builder, not a tearer-downer,” he said. “I’ve had some meetings with James, and I think he agrees with me. I can just tell.”

Murdoch later said he was used to people like Jobs complaining about Fox. “He’s got sort of a left-wing view on this,” he said.

Apparently, Jobs’ words of wisdom to the owner of Fox News just went in one ear and out the other. Maybe the destruction of our society is their goal. It’s hard to think otherwise when you look at their willful attempt to mislead their audience.

Sarah Palin Answered The Question – But No One Understood Her Answer

They’re at different ends of the totem pole. At one end, last night, the Republican savior Chris Christie, demanded all the media attention, as he announced once again that he will not run for president. And at the other end, Sarah Palin, the Republican shipwreck and her feeble attempt to keep the Fox spotlight on herself one more time, trying to fool the last six of her last remaining followers into thinking that she may…or may not run for president in 2012.

The host of On The Record asked about a possible Palin candidacy in 2012 and off-camera, the interpreters tried to decode the words falling from Palin’s mouth;

“Through my process of decision-making with my family and my close friends as to whether I should throw my name in the hat for the GOP nomination for 2012 – Is a title worth it? Does a title shackle a person?” Palin said Tuesday night on the Fox News show “On the Record.”

“Someone like me who’s a maverick? I do go rogue and I call it like I see it and I don’t mind stirring it up in order to get people to think and debate aggressively to find solutions to the problems that our country is facing,” Palin continued.

“Somebody like me, is a title and a campaign too shackling? Does that prohibit me from being out there and out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what’s going on, or what contributors or political pundits want it to be?”

Head scratching, with raised eyebrows everywhere.

This Fox Host Is A Man Of Honor… Seriously

Bob Beckel, one of the hosts of Fox News’  The Five, is possibly the most honorable person working at the network. In a recent show, Mr. Beckel made a decision not to join in with his co-hosts to slander the Obama administration.

The group decided to talk about a company that received funds from the stimulus, then went out of business a few years later. Without proof, the Fox News group decided that somehow, the Obama administration did something grossly wrong and proceeded to speculate to their audience about it. Mr. Beckel, showing his displeasure in the conversation, said;

“I’d like to be not interrupted here because this is the last time I’m going to say it on this subject. This story on Solyndra is a clear effort to smear Barack Obama by suggesting he gave government guarantees in exchange for campaign contributions. It is a classic Republican scam. It is based on no evidence except for these little emails you’ve got and, as far as I’m concerned, we won’t talk about the $50 billion in no-contract bids that Halliburton during the Iraq War from Bush and Cheney but we will talk about this. It’s the last time I’ll talk about it. I refuse to talk about it anymore. You guys go talk about it but, for the next days we do, I’m out of the conversation. It’s slanderous and libelous and you should be…ah, never mind.”

More power to you Mr. Beckel!

Sean Hannity Thinks President Obama Is Not “That Smart”

So Called, FOX "News" Sean Hannity

An enraged Sean Hannity reacted to a controversial Politico article about Rick Perry’s intelligence by questioning President Obama’s intelligence for almost eight minutes.

The Politico piece had a blunt title: “Is Rick Perry Dumb?” Writer Jonathan Martin spent nearly 1,800 words pondering the question, essentially concluding that, while Perry is not an “ideas man,” he has a sharp and potent political mind and should not be underestimated. Hannity was incensed, though, seeing a clear case of liberal media bias.

“The question of intelligence is one the mainstream media never bothered to ask about President Obama,” he said. He then brought on Tucker Carlson and Democratic cable news mainstay Steve McMahon on to discuss just that.

Eventually, Hannity stated “Every liberal’s a genius that drives the economy into a ditch,” he concluded , “…I don’t think he’s that smart.”

The Facts About Vacations. Barack Obama vs George Bush

The big controversy now is that Republicans are trying to hammer the President on is his vacations. President Obama and his family decided to take a 10-day vacation in Martha’s Vinyard, but Fox News, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and the rest of the Republican presidential field have read their talking-points and are zeroing in on the President’s family time as “inappropriate.”

Here are some of the lies from Donald Trump;

The fact is, he takes more vacations than any other human being I’ve ever seen. They used to complain about George Bush, but I understand he’s already exceed George Bush and we’re not even through the year, so he likes vacations.

But take a look at the video below. It shows the difference between the vacation time of the last few presidents and the hypocritical nature of this Republican argument.

Juan Williams – This Republican Party “Looks Like A 1950’s Oldsmobile.”

Remember Juan Williams? He’s the same writer/Fox News contributor who used to work for NPR, but made some remarks about Muslims and lost job there. Fox News immediately jumped on NPR for firing Juan, and that began the Republican push to defund NPR – one of the most trusted news sources in the land.

Well, because of some of Jaun’s views, we usually don’t see eye to eye. But something Mr. Williams wrote on Fox’s website caught my attention. Williams wrote an article about the recent Republican presidential debate, a piece he titled, “Debate Shows GOP Is Out Of Step With Realities Of Today’s America.” For me, that topic was all I needed to read a little further.

The first few paragraphs of Mr. Williams piece summed up the Republican party perfectly. It said;

Last night’s debate put on display a Republican Party that still looks like a 1950s Oldsmobile as they prepare to run against one of the hip, new hybrids coming out the multi-national car companies that now run Detroit.

Despite his troubles, President Obama looks sleek, fast and so very hip as compared the Republicans on view in Iowa. The President remains the mixed-race, son-of-an immigrant, in touch with the under 30 crowd that makes up about half of 2011 America.

It was not just the absence of dynamic people of color and women at the GOP debate that rankle young Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Blacks, working women, and immigrants. The answers coming from the candidates felt like the voice of your grandfather’s GOP.

And on the question of taxes, where all the Republican presidential candidates in the debate said they will not raise taxes no matter what the circumstances, even if it is a 10 to 1 ratio for spending cuts vs. tax hikes, Williams said this;

One of the most astounding parts of the debate for me was when the moderators polled the candidates and asked if they would oppose a deficit reduction package that included government spending cuts to tax increases by a ratio of 10:1. Every single candidate on the stage raised their hand in opposition. No tax increases under any circumstances.

This puts the candidates out of step with the realities of America today, and American public opinion. As a CBS/New York Times poll from last week showed, a majority of Americans – in both political parties – want to see tax increases on the wealthiest Americans in addition to spending cuts. By taking the no-new-taxes-pledge the candidates are even in disagreement with a majority of the Republicans – the very people who will choose the nominee.

Nuff said. You really don’t have to read anymore, that says it all and this reflects the points Mr. Williams laid out throughout the rest of the article. It also summarizes perfectly this Republican party and their intent to “bring America back…” Back to a year they’re more comfortable with, the 1950’s.

If you want to read the rest of Juan Williams’ article, you can find it here.

Michele Bachmann, Are You A Flake?

Fox News Chris Wallace lost the debate to Jon Stewart last week, so in his Sunday interview of Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, Wallace asked the question every sane American has asked about Michele:  “Is she for real, or is she “a flake?”

“The rap on you here in Washington is that you have a history of questionable statements, some would say gaffes . . . are you a flake?”

The question caught Mrs. Bachmann off-guard, to which she answered that she was “insulted” that Wallace would ask her such a question. Realizing that this was going to be his second loss in 2 weeks, Wallace issued the following apology.

“A lot of you were more than perturbed, you were upset and felt that I had been rude to her. And since in the end it’s really all about the answers and not about the questions. I messed up, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any disrespect.”

Although Wallace buckled under the pressure from his bosses at Fox and apologized, his question was actually a good one. Considering all the numerous incorrect statements the presidential candidate has made in recent weeks, we are all wondering the same thing. Is this Republican presidential candidate for real?

And based on her lack of knowledge where basic American history is concerned, I’ll even venture to say that she’s a flake, who cut classes when the subject was taught.

Glenn Beck Punks Out On Van Jones’ Challenge

Glenn Beck is more than happy to sit behind the camera on Fox News or behind the microphone of his radio talk show, and debate himself. The scary part is when he declares himself the winner of those debates, something that happens more times than any sane person should admit to.

Beck was recently given a chance to have a real debate,  a “fight”, a “discussion”. He was given the chance to have an “argument”, a “battle of ideas” from his favorite political rival, Van Jones. Mr. Jones – who, in 2009 had to resign his job at the White House because of the constant lies and character assassinations told about him on Beck’s shows,  issued a challenge to Beck, saying;

I issue a personal challenge to my beloved brother Glenn Beck. I will debate you anytime, anywhere, at any point. I’ll give you an hour, you give me five minutes. And I will stand up for our values. But you would have to stop talking about us and start talking to us.

You got one week left before your show goes off. My phone is ringing. Call me! Call me, Glenn Beck! And let’s have this fight. Let’s have this discussion. Let’s have this argument. Let’s have this battle of ideas. Battle of ideas. And let’s fight for liberty and justice for all.

This would seem like the perfect opportunity for Beck to prove to his radio and television audiences that all the things he’s said about Jones were true. It would seem that Beck would finally have the opportunity to shed some real light on Jones’s true “communistic” character, and at the same time, prove to America that he (Beck) was not just pulling words out of thin air or making stuff up. It would seem like the right thing to do…

But what was Beck’s response?

He retreats back to the rubber room, comfort zone of his radio show where all that he says goes forever unchallenged, and spends 9 minutes continuing his smear campaign against Van Jones, calling him a “communist revolutionist” who formed a group to take over the government.

Yeah Beck, but are you going to accept the challenge? Back up what you say and join Mr. Jones in a debate.
