When you’re looking for a sensible Repunlican to speak the truth to their brain dead masses, Karl Rove is usually not the man.
As a matter of fact, when it comes to speaking the truth, it is hard to find anyone in the Republican Party to carry that banner. So when someone from that party step to the plate and make a sensible statement, well, there will be a lot of snow in the northeast.
Guess what? There is a lot of snow in the northeast and Karl Rove said something that actually made sense.
In a recent interview on Fox News, Rove was asked to comment on Rand Paul and his constant bludgeoning of a 20 year old story involving Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Rove’s response amounted to the most sensible thing I’ve heard from a Republican in a very long time.
“I’m not sure he [Rand Paul] has a strategy,” Rove said. He then went on to explain that each candidate running for president in 2016 must focus on the “bigger picture” instead of personal issues and he concluded that Rand Paul’s focus on Bill Clinton’s past is not in the best interest of the nation.
The United States Constitution forbids foreign born citizens for running for president, but many have attempted to challenge the law. According to the New York Post, former governor of California and action movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger will attempt to challenge the law and run for president in 2016. The news broke while Schwarzenegger was promoting his new film “Escape Plan,” in New York City, also costarring another veteran action star, Sylvester Stallone.
The 66 year old Schwarzenegger was born in Austria and became a United States citizen in 1983. The former Republican governor of California was elected in 2003 during a recall election and won reelection 2006, holding the office until 2011. Sources note that Schwarzenegger will file paperwork in an attempt to challenge the Constitution so he can be on the ballot in 2016.
“Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016. He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules.”
Schwarzenegger appeared on the “Tonight Show” in 2010 and told host Jay Leno that if the law was changed, he would seriously consider a run for the nation’s top office. In order to have the law changed, it would have to be approved by two-thirds in the House and Senate and be ratified by 38 of the country’s 50 states.
Huckabee, who finished a strong second place in South Carolina’s 2008 primary, polls at 18 percent in the survey. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) comes in second place with 17 percent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is in third with 14 percent of the vote and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) pulls 13 percent. No other candidate reaches double digits.
Wishing for an Elizabeth Warren Presidential candidacy in 2016? Well you may have to wait a little longer…
“I’m not running for president, and I plan to serve out my term,” Warren said in quotes that were first reported by The Boston Herald and Boston Globe. Warren’s Senate office confirmed her comments.
Warren, who has strong support among some liberals, made her remarks during a news conference with Boston Mayor-elect Martin Walsh.
Warren, a former Harvard law professor who helped launch the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, became a rising star in Democratic politics with her populist views and criticism of Wall Street.
Warren defeated GOP Sen. Scott Brown in one of the nation’s most closely watched and expensive Senate races in 2012. She will be up for re-election in the Senate in 2018, and her current term will end January 2019.
The top fundraiser behind Hillary Clinton’s first presidential bid is currently in talks to join Priorities USA, the leading super PAC behind President Obama last year that is now positioning itself for a possible Clinton White House bid in 2016.”
Jonathan Mantz, who served as Clinton’s national finance director in 2008 and is one of the Democratic Party’s biggest names in fundraising, is set to join Priorities USA in a senior adviser.
Four sources familiar with the Mantz discussions said he will fundraise for Priorities as transitions from the last presidential election into its next phase — a pro-Clinton paid media effort, likely led by Jim Messina and John Podesta, top former aides to Barack Obama and Bill Clinton respectively.”
It won’t be enough for a candidate merely to keep his or her distance from [George] W. John McCain and Mitt Romney tried that, and they failed.
“I don’t think there’s any Bush baggage at all,” the former Florida governor said onFox News Sunday. “I love my brother. I’m proud of his accomplishments.” On Meet the Press, he added that “history will be kind to George W. Bush.”
Unfortunately for Jeb, history is written by historians. Three times since 2009, pollsters have asked them to rank American presidents, and in those rankings, W. has come in 36th, 39th, and 31st. Only Millard Fillmore, Warren Harding, William Henry Harrison, Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, and James Buchanan rank lower. Ordinary Americans agree. Three times since George W. Bush left office, pollsters have asked the public to rank recent presidents. And three times, W. has ended up second to last, ahead of only Richard Nixon.
Speaking for the majority of Americans in this country, and in agreement with those who took that poll, I think it is safe to say that we’ve had it up to here with the Bushes. We have successfully navigated ourselves out of the Bushes and we don’t plan on going back. The goal is moving forward, not back to the future.
Plans for the new Titanic were revealed at a press conference in New York on Tuesday by billionaire Clive Palmer and his Blue Star Line Company. According to the plans, the new Titanic will be an exact replica of the doomed ship that sank on its maiden voyage about 100 years ago.
Titanic 2 will make its maiden voyage on 2016 from Southhampton, England to New York, carrying 2,600 passengers in 850 cabins. It will employ about 900 crew members. The length will be three inches longer than the original at 883 feet and include 18 lifeboats — enough for everyone on board.
“The area [for] passengers will be authentic with the same design and facilities, but there will be modern things such as air conditioning and other features we are debating, such as Internet on the ship,” Palmer said at the press conference. “I’m against it. I think you should relax on vacation. There won’t be TVs in the state rooms though.”
Word is out that VP Joe Biden is looking to throw his hat into the ring for president in 2016. Not for nothing, but if I were to go with the present mood of the country, I’d have to say that Hillary Rodham Clinton (Stop! We all know she’s running lol!) stands a better chance of becoming the Democratic nominee than the beloved Joe. And it won’t be because Mrs. Clinton is the better politician, or the more experienced legislator or even better liked than Biden. It’s what she isn’t that’s more likely than not going to give her a clearer shot as successor of the Obama Administration.
I don’t think the country has experienced this much diversity since John Fitzgerald Kennedy became the first Irish Catholic American to hold court in the Oval Office. That major feat seems like small potatoes compared to the election of a Barack Hussein Obama to the White house.
Thirteen years into the 21st century and America is slowly showing signs of embracing its diversity, the main reason why its so attractive to others born outside its perceived borders. Whichever way you may wish to see it, for better or for worse, President Obama and his Administration have successfully ushered in The New Vanguard in American politics.
In the 2009 appointment of his Cabinet members, Obama’s choice of seven women (including Hillary as his Secretary of State), nine racial and ethnic minorities and only eight white men among its 21 members–whose overall age averaged 54 years–made his the most diverse Cabinet in history according to political analysts. It’s predicted that his new Cabinet selections, once completed, will also reflect more accurately what America looks like today.
As it should.
It doesn’t help the resistance to this change, that Americans–particularly the young voters who came of voting age within the last ten years or so–have witnessed the slow, embarrassing decay and deterioration of an antiquated Republican Party. It offers such a clear juxtaposition of how we no longer want our politics to look and act as opposed to what we do want.
Virtually unknown, seemingly untainted and un-corrupted by Big Money lobbyists, grass-rooted, youthful, innovative, broad-minded, humanist, energized and unafraid…these are the adjectives being applied to NewPolitician_5.0!
And just to be fair, Clinton and her people should not consider her a shoe-in for the candidacy in four years (remember how that worked out in ’08? Not so good.) There are quite a few politically aspirant stars out there who have cut their teeth on this new political vibe and are looking to go supernova in the American political galaxy. Gays and Lesbians, Latinos, Asians, young white and black men and women, the secular, the handicapped, Little People and even Mormons!…anyone can step up to the plate at any inning and upset her whole game, hoping for the opportunity to represent America, as seen through their eyes. Whether they’ll be the political trailblazers that these difficult times call for, well–only time will tell.
Yes, it’s unbelievable. Newt Gingrich opened his mouth and something miraculous happened… the truth jumped out.
The amazing revelation happened today on NBC’s Meet The Press. Gingrich was talking about the perils of his party and the prospects of them winning in 2016, when he said this;
“If [the Republicans’] competitor in ’16 is going to be Hillary Clinton, supported by Bill Clinton and presumably, a still relatively popular President Barack Obama, trying to win that will be truly the Super Bowl. And the Republican Party today is incapable of competing at that level.”
But that wasn’t the only truth Gingrich spoke today. He kept his mouth opened long enough and more truths to jumped out. This time, Gingrich explained that the reason his party lost the November election was not only because of Mitt Romney was a loser, but also because his party is a loser’s party that refused to adopt to the changing political climate in America.
Gingrich explains;
“We didn’t blow it because of Mitt Romney, we blew it because of a party which has refused to engage the reality of American life and refused to think through what the average American needs for a better future.”
The suggestion was also made that Gingrich should run again for president in 2016. But if Gingrich continues to tell the truth, the Republican party will quickly show him the door. There’s no room for truth tellers in that party, and Gingrich should know better!
At a recent event in Washington featuring a speech by Hillary Clinton, the performance of the Secretary of State and the reception she received from those in attendance were analyzed by David Remnick of The New Yorker, and the conclusion to him was convincing – that Hillary Clinton was running for President of the United States in 2016.
Hillary Clinton was the main speaker. In a packed ballroom of the Willard Hotel, she was greeted with a standing ovation and then a short, adoring film, a video Festschrift testifying to her years as First Lady, senator, and, above all, secretary of state. The film, an expensive-looking production, went to the trouble of collecting interviews with Israeli politicians—Benjamin Netanyahu, Ehud Barak, Tzipi Livni—and American colleagues, like John Kerry. Tony Blair, striking the moony futuristic note that was general in the hall, said, “I just have an instinct that the best is yet to come.”
The film was like an international endorsement four years in advance of the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary. The tone was so reverential that it resembled the sort of film that the Central Committee of the Communist Party might have produced for Leonid Brezhnev’s retirement party if Leonid Brezhnev would only have retired and the Soviets had been in possession of advanced video technology. After it was over there was a separate video from the President. Looking straight into the camera, Obama kvelled at length: “You’ve been at my side at some of the most important moments of my Administration.”
When the videos were over (and as the evening moved on), there was much chatter about what Clinton would do after she steps down from the Cabinet next month—get a haircut; take a few weeks sleeping off jet lag at Canyon Ranch; read the polls and the political landscape; do good works; do good works for the good people of, say, Iowa—and so on. Everyone had a theory of which they were one hundred percent certain. There wasn’t much doubt about the ultimate direction. 2007-8 was but a memory and 2016 was within sight. She’s running.
“I am somewhat overwhelmed, but I’m obviously thinking I should sit down,” Clinton said as the videos concluded. “I prepared some remarks for tonight, but then I thought maybe we could just watch that video a few more times. And then the next time, I could count the hairstyles, which is one of my favorite pastimes.” An old joke with Hillary, but the crowd, tickled to be there, rosy with wine, roared.
