It’s Possible – Yet Another Mitt Romney Presidential Run in 2016

Ask Mitt Romney if he would run for president a third time, and he will deny it every which way.

“I’ve had my turn,” he told CNN.

“We’re so ready to watch the next person step up and take that nomination,” his wife told Fox News. “Oh, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no,” Romney told The New York Times.

But in recent weeks, a strange thing has happened: Some supporters and donors, pollsters and pundits are starting to suggest — without irony — that the former Massachusetts governor run for president in 2016.

“Once a month, someone would e-mail or call and say he should run again,” said Ron Kaufman, a longtime Romney adviser. “Now I get it every day — from the grass roots, and from donors. I get it every day.”

Kaufman made clear that there was no behind-the-scenes maneuvering to persuade Romney to run again. A second Romney adviser said he was also approached frequently by former supporters and donors, asking him to persuade Romney to run again in 2016.

Those close to Romney say he is giving the talk little thought, and party operatives in key states and some of his former advisers say they cannot imagine a scenario in which he would run.

“He’s made it pretty clear he will strongly support whoever the 2016 nominee is,” Romney’s oldest son, Tagg, said in an e-mail to the Globe. “This isn’t something we are spending any time thinking about. Chatter is just chatter.”

And yet the former candidate who rarely gave interviews during the 2012 campaign and laid low for the year following his defeat is now suddenly everywhere.

There’s the new “MITT” documentary on Netflix, which was a well-received portrayal of the candidate and inner workings of his losing campaign.

He did a “slow jam” of the news with late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon, displaying a looseness and a wry humor he rarely let show in public. He showed up at the Super Bowl (“It’s great to . . . come in here and celebrate a great sport,” he said). He was recently on CNN discussing the Olympics, and on Fox News talking about health care.

And on Sunday he’ll be on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” his second appearance on the show in the past three months.

Romney’s public relations makeover and higher profile have come at a time when mainstream Republicans are searching for a strong party patriarch. Some party activists blanch at the prospect of a presidential field dominated by Tea Party movement favorites like Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Mike Huckabee Leads All GOP Potential Candidates in South Carolina Poll

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) leads the field of potential Republican presidential candidates in early-voting South Carolina, according to a new poll from Gravis Marketing.

Huckabee, who finished a strong second place in South Carolina’s 2008 primary, polls at 18 percent in the survey. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) comes in second place with 17 percent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is in third with 14 percent of the vote and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) pulls 13 percent. No other candidate reaches double digits.

Elizabeth Warren – “I’m not running for president, and I plan to serve out my term”

Wishing for an Elizabeth Warren Presidential candidacy in 2016? Well you may have to wait a little longer…

“I’m not running for president, and I plan to serve out my term,” Warren said in quotes that were first reported by The Boston Herald and Boston Globe. Warren’s Senate office confirmed her comments.

Warren, who has strong support among some liberals, made her remarks during a news conference with Boston Mayor-elect Martin Walsh.

Warren, a former Harvard law professor who helped launch the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, became a rising star in Democratic politics with her populist views and criticism of Wall Street.

Warren defeated GOP Sen. Scott Brown in one of the nation’s most closely watched and expensive Senate races in 2012. She will be up for re-election in the Senate in 2018, and her current term will end January 2019.

Mitt Romney’s Plan Will Raise Your Taxes

Unless you’re earning over $1 million a year that is, then you will see your taxes cut by as much as $146,000 a year. But for the middle class Americans struggling to make ends meet, prepare to pay more in taxes if Mitt Romney becomes your president.

The non-partisan Tax Policy Center analyzed Mitt Romney’s tax proposals and, according to the Wall Street Journal, “concluded that Mr. Romney’s plan would reduce taxes significantly for high-income earners (by 6.9% or $146,000 for households making more than $1 million), and increase federal deficits by $180 billion in 2015 compared to current tax levels.”

And despite Romney’s claims, his plan would also raise taxes slightly for low-income families.

Associated Press: “Households making between $50,000 and $75,000 would get small tax cuts, averaging 2.2 percent, or about $250, the study said. People making more than $1 million would get tax cuts averaging 15 percent, or about $146,000.”

Michele Bachmann Meets Occupy Wall Street – The Encounter

Michele Bachmann, one of the Republicans trying to become the nominee to take on President Obama in the 2012 Presidential election, was doing what she does best, giving a speech about something she knows nothing about- in this case, foreign policies.

Then, in a manner of communication perfected by seasoned protesters, someone – believed to be from the Occupy Wall Street movement – began a call and response chant for several minutes, saying “Mike check. This will only take a minute. We have a message for Ms. Bachmann.”

The chant and response continued, and the message was delivered. Audience members tried shouting the protesters down, but the messengers continued until Bachmann was briefly escorted from the podium.

She later returned and continued her speech, first commenting on something else she’s shown she knows little about – the first amendment.

In his effort to sell his book, Herman Cain did little campaigning in the third quarter of the year. But that little bit of campaigning was all his Republican Teaparty base needed. They dug into their pockets and sent their hard-earned cash to support Donald Trump Part 2. Cain is laughing all the way to the bank.

Cain, the brash former businessman whose candidacy was long considered a lark, had caught fire in recent weeks and has even opened a lead on GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney in some polls.

That buzz – and Cain’s much-hyped 9-9-9 tax plan – has spurred donors to open their wallets.

Cain says his campaign raised more than $3 million so far in October, topping the $2.8 million he totaled during the third fundraising quarter.

Rick Perry Really Said That? O.M.G! – Video

When I came across this video, I thought it would be just another amateur trying to put their mark on the joke that is Rick Perry. Boy was I wrong!

This video shows Rick Perry ‘saying’ some things that are quite frankly, amusing. Okay, okay… the words you hear are not the ones coming from Rick’s mouth, but compared to what the Republican presidential candidate has been saying so far, these words would be an improvement.

Bachmann Changes The Meaning Of Submissive

Michele Bachmann is in a pickle.

Back in 2006, her husband Mr. Marcus Bachmann asked/told/commanded her to get a post-doctorate degree in tax law. Bachmann, recalling the incident, told her husband that she didn’t want to. “Tax law? I hate taxes,” Bachmann said to Marcus. “Why should I go into something like that? But the Lord says, be submissive. Wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.'” So she did as she was told.

In the Republican debate last week Michele Bachmann was asked, if she wins the presidency, would she be submissive to her husband. The audience showed their displeasure in the question by booing the moderator, and a friend of mine joined in, saying that the question was sexist. Bachmann seemed to share the same feeling about the question. She hesitated, then answered, saying that to her, ‘submissive’ meant respect for each other.

I, on the other hand, think the question about her submissiveness to her husband was appropriate, seeing that she intends to run for the most powerful position in the United States of America. People ought to know exactly who will be making the crucial decisions and policies for the country. Who will she be answering too?

And the question didn’t stop at the debate. Michele Bachmann went on CBS’s Face The Nation on Sunday, and was asked to explain her “submissive” statement again, to which she continued her “submissive means respect” answer. She said, “submission, means respect – mutual respect. I respect my husband, he respects me,” she added. “We have been married 33 years, we have a great marriage…and respecting each other, listening to each other is what that means.”

The CBS host asked Michele if submissive meant subservient. Bachmann replied,

 “You know, I guess it depends on what word people are used to, but respect is really what it means. Not to us. To us it means respect. We respect each other, we listen to each other, we love each other and that is what it means.”

So I, determined to prove that my interpretation of the word was wrong all along, looked up the word in the dictionary. And to my shock and dismay, was this:

Submissive  (səbˈmɪsɪv) adj. “of, tending towards, or indicating submission, humility, or servility, compliant.

Nowhere in that definition was the word “respect.” So still determined to prove that I was mistaken, I looked up the synonyms for submissive, and again, I was shocked to find the following;

I tried, and I simply cannot find the word “respect” as a definition for submission. But this comes as no surprise, we are talking about Michele Bachmann – she is the same one who tried to re-invent American history, and claim that America’s founding fathers “worked tirelessly to end slavery.”

So her claiming that “respect” means submission, is expected. It’s a lie… but it’s expected.

Michele Bachmann – All Talk And No Action

Michele Bachmann told a crowd at a political rally in Iowa on Saturday, that she is not a talker, but a doer. This was apparently her response to Tim Pawlenty’s claim that she hasn’t done anything since being elected to congress.

Here are the two sides: Michele Bachmann

 ‘I pledge to you, I’m not a talker. I’m a doer,’ she said, in what seemed to be a response to rival GOP presidential contender Tim Pawlenty’s recent hints that Iowans shouldn’t let themselves be mesmerized by her soaring rhetoric.

Asked what he thought about Bachmann’s candidacy for President: Tim Pawlenty

 “I like Con­gress­woman Bach­mann, I’ve cam­paigned for her, I respect her,” said Paw­lenty on the pro­gram. “But her record of accom­plish­ment in Con­gress is nonex­is­tent. It’s nonex­is­tent. And so we’re not look­ing for folks who, you know, just have speech capa­bil­i­ties, we’re look­ing for peo­ple who can lead a large enter­prise in a pub­lic set­ting and drive it to con­clu­sion. I’ve done that, she hasn’t.”

Now in her third House term, Bachmann has never had a bill or resolution she’s sponsored signed into law, and she’s never wielded a committee gavel, either at the full or subcommittee level. Bachmann’s amendments and bills have rarely been considered by any committee, even with the House under GOP control. In a chamber that rewards substantive policy work and insider maneuvering, Bachmann has shunned the inside game, choosing to be more of a bomb thrower than a legislator.

My take: – the record is clear, the facts are indisputable. Michele Bachmann is all talk, no action.

Ted Kennedy’s Warning About Republican Mitt Romney

From beyond the grave, Ted Kennedy is educating Americans about the Republican Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. The ad below is 17 years old and was released today by Politico. It was filmed by the Ted Kennedy team against their opponent, Romney. It seems that even in 1994, Romney was a businessman who was more concerned about making that profit, no matter how many middle class jobs were lost in the process.

The voice in the ad states;

 “Mitt Romney says he saved Bain and Company, but he didn’t tell you that on the day he took over, he had his predecessor fire hundreds of employees. Or that the way the company was rescued was with a federal bailout of $10 million.”

The ad was never shown, but the message for today is still the same. Like he did back then, Romney is now trying to present himself as someone who knows how to create jobs… even though when he finished his job as governor of Massachusetts, that state ranked 47th out of the 50 states in jobs creation.
