Kyle Mantyla writes: As we have noted several times in the past, Jesse Lee Peterson of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND) has carved out a very unique niche as a black right-wing activist who specializes in accusing Democrats, and especially black Democrats, of being racist while defending white people who are accused of racism.
Earlier this year, Peterson made news when he declared that he would like “to take all black people back to the South and put them on the plantation so they would understand the ethic of working.” So it comes as no surprise that Peterson has now decided to weigh in on the Trayvon Martin tragedy by declaring that the outrage over his death is not about justice but rather “about getting even with whites and gaining political power”:
“It’s hypocritical for so-called black ‘leaders’ to call for the prosecution of George Zimmerman and accuse the police of racism without knowing the facts. Black-on-black crime takes place every day. And blacks kill whites in far greater numbers than whites kill blacks. Yet, we only see these leaders and their hypnotized black followers worked up when a black is victimized by another race. This is racist and evil.
“Where were the NAACP, Al Sharpton, the Black Caucus and black ministers when black flash mobs were terrorizing the city of Philadelphia and attacking whites and others? It was so bad that Mayor Michael Nutter threatened to jail parents if they were not willing to get their thug children under control. In Kansas City, a 13-year-old white kid was attacked by two black teens who poured gasoline on him and set him on fire saying, ‘you get what you deserve, white boy.’ If these leaders were sincere, they would condemn crime across the board.
“I’ve said for the last 22 years that most black Americans are brainwashed. The recent actions of these black leaders and their followers are not about justice—it’s about getting even with whites and gaining political power. This is black hatred of white people and a result of more than fifty years of brainwashing by racist civil-rights leaders.
Republicans have managed to take a national tragedy and turn it into a something political. It began with the Glenn Beck show – saying things about Trayvon I refuse to list here in this forum – then the politics of the tragedy made its way on Fox News, when Geraldo Rivera blamed Trayvon for Trayvon’s murder.
Now, regular right-winged nuts on Twitter are jumping into the fray. They have scavenged the internet looking for anything they could come up with to paint a negative portrait of the victim in this heinous crime. Below is a tweet by John M. Patello, who mentioned messages against “the liberal media” in some of his tweets, and sent out this picture he claimed is of Trayvon Martin. Off to the right of the picture are the words;
… have you seen these pics? Probably not. They’re not selling any t-shirts with THESE pics from Trayvons Facebook on them. Now imagine Trayvon, dressed in a “hoodie” (a disguise), stalking a neighborhood on a rainy night.
Move on folks, nothing new to see here. All we’re showing in this video clip is yet another episode of Mitt Romney denouncing something he now stands for, an act better known as the Flip Flop – something Mitt Romney has mastered.
In this case, Mitt Romney is turning his back on the Republican party, saying the only connection he had to Republicans was that he’s a “registered Republican.” He even considered running against another fellow Republican in Massachusetts.
But that was then in 2002. This is now and of course, now he’s “severely conservative!”
The Daily News Reports: “My own son just wrote to say he’s ashamed of my position,” the Fox News contributor tweeted on Friday.
Rivera created a firestorm earlier this week when he argued the hoodie the unarmed teen chose to wear when he was killed in Florida was as much to blame for his death as the man that shot him.
Despite his own family’s harsh criticism, Rivera refused to budge on his position, adding on Twitter “Still I feel parents must do whatever they can to keep their kids safe.”
Rivera elaborated on his 32-year-old son’s shame to Politico.
“Gabriel broke my heart…He just told me for the first time in his life he’s ashamed,” he told the political website, adding his son believed he had “gone viral for all the wrong reasons.”
Rivera said he wrote Gabriel back and tried to explain his position that “every hoodie should come with a warning like cigarettes, ‘caution wearing this could get you killed.'”
According to Geraldo Riveria of the Fox News Network, Trayvon Martin may still be alive today, had he worn different clothing the night he was murdered. The Fox employee equally blamed Martin’s hoodie for the killing, as he the killer, George Zimmerman.
“I believe,” he shared, “that George Zimmerman, the overzealous neighborhood watch captain, should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law and if he is criminally liable, he should be prosecuted. But I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies. I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was.”
Although there are many preconceived notions and misconceptions about blacks and other minorities, casting blame on the outfit of the 17 year old murder victim is part of the problem we face as a society. The problem is not our clothing – we take pride is considering ourselves a “free” country. The problem is ignorance and bigotry, and the apparent willingness by some – especially those in the media – to foster that ignorance.
Trayvon Martin wasnt killed because of a hoodie, he was killed because George Zimmerman thought he was better than Trayvon. George Zimmerman looked down on Trayvon and saw something he despised and it wasn’t a hoodie… it was a color… the color of Trayvon’s skin… black.
Some have criticized the president for taking too long to issue a statement about the senseless killing of an unarmed teenager in Florida. A crime that allowed the shooter to walk free without even being brought in for questioning, while the teenager’s bullet-ridden body was tested for drugs and alcohol.
“I’ve got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we’re not impairing any investigation that’s taking place right now.” He did, however, share that he empathized with Martin’s parents and that the young man’s death made him think about his own daughters
“But, obviously, this is a tragedy,” he added, noting that we all have to “do some soul searching to find out why something like this happened.”
“I think every parent in America,” he said, “should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative to investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together — federal, state, and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.” He noted that he was glad that the Justice Department had stepped in to investigate the specifics of the case.
“But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And, you know, I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”
Trayvon Martin was killed by what is amounting to an overzealous racist, who made multiple 911 calls complaining about black teens in his neighborhood, and even used a racial slur in the 911 call he made about Trayvon. The killing, which happened in the last week of February sparked a national outcry when it was learned that the shooter George Zimmermann was never arrested for the crime and today, one month later, is still walking the streets as a free man.
Mitt Romney’s game plan for the general election is to “shake” off the extreme positions he took during the Republican primary process… an obviously blatant attempt on his part to leave his hard to find “severely conservative” ideals in the dust while he try to appeal to the sane portion of the general American public.
Well the DNC released this video to make sure that the Romney shake doesn’t happen.
Tracy Knauss posted this message on his Facebook page, blaming the so-called “News” Network for the death of his mother. According to Knauss, his mother, an extremely devoted Fox News viewer, died 10 days after she suffered an injury and refused to go to the doctor because she didn’t want “ObamaCare getting all her information.”
Karole reports: When I first saw this image on Facebook, I wasn’t sure how on earth Fox News could have killed someone’s mother. And then I read the message that went with the photo. Tracy Knauss posted it on his Facebook page along with a message which said in part:
I know this personally. FOX News killed my precious mother, Hallie. She watched FOX religiously. And when she fell ten days before she died, she refused to go to the doctor because, “I don’t want Obamacare to get all of my information! she declared, recalling the warnings from FOX News “anchors.” She was emphatic. She was not going to consort with the muslim enemy. As she made out her will she told her lawyer, “I don’t want any of my money going to the Muslim Brotherhood!” And her last protestation dealt with “Obama’s death panels.” Mother died just days later. I hold FOX News responsible for my mother’s death.
This statement is as good a description of Mitt Romney as we’ve ever seen since Romney decided to run for political office back in the 1990’s, and oh yea, he’s not a career politician… wink wink!
The description was given on CNN by a Romney advisor Eric Fehrnstrom, when he was asked if Romney had hurt his chances with moderates in the general after moving “so far to the right.” Eric answered;
“Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.”
And that sums up Mitt Romney perfectly. A flip flopping Etch A Sketch candidate who will say whatever you want to hear to get elected. And if for some reason you hear Romney speaking negatively about an issue you cherish, have no fear. Just shake ’em up, hit the reset button, and watch the Etch A Sketch candidate change like a chameleon to void his previous position.
If there’s one thing you cannot accuse Mitt Romney if, it’s being a man of conviction. Now imagine that as your leader!
The moment I will never forget was when he looked at me. He gave me a chance to talk to him. It was like he was waiting for me to say something. I took the moment and signed “I am proud of you,” and his response was “Thank u” in sign language back! Oh my gosh! I was like wow! He understood me after I said I was proud of him. It was so amazing…I was just speechless. Right after he thanked me, he smiled at another deaf lady who signed “I love you.” When I shook his hand it did not feel like he was superior to me. He was just a humble man. I am just impressed by him and know that he will have my vote and he will win second term without a doubt. Yeah, I feel safe to have him for another term.
Can you believe it? There is something Rush Limbaugh wouldn’t do although its a perfect match for the right winged hate monger. Apparently, although he needs sponsors, Rush is not accepting ads from the Westboro Baptiste Church.
A spokeswoman for the radio network that carries conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh’s radio program has stated that they will reject any ads submitted by Westboro Baptist Church.
“Premiere Networks is not considering an offer of sponsorship from Westboro Baptist Church,” said Rachel Nelson, public relations director for Premiere Networks, which carries Limbaugh’s three hour program, in a statement given to the press.
Hatewatch, a blog overseen by the Southern Poverty Law Center, has been tracking the story since last week when Westboro first offered an ad for Limbaugh’s radio program.
