I would argue that Rush Limbaugh is singlehandedly responsible for our political divide today. While Not too long ago while Democrats and Republicans found ways to work together, Limbaugh was busy on his radio show recruiting an army of far-right conservatives willing to take his message of division, exclusion, and yes, even racism.
Today, Rush Limbaugh died of lung cancer at the age of 70 years old, and he left behind the fruits of his labor – a failed president, a failed insurrection of the nation’s capitol and a completely failed and divided Republican party. Limbaugh never apologized to his audience for misleading them. He never told them that this was how he made his living, that it was all for entertainment.
My condolences to his wife and the rest of family.
On the radio Rush Limbaugh has a job to do. His job is intentionally designed to keep his listeners ignorant, and he does that job extremely well.
But Rush Limbaugh knows the truth. He knows that something is happening wuth the weather, with climate change. And Rush Limbaugh is doing everything he can to secure his beachfront home from the effects of Climate change, even if that means working with the Obama administration.
Limbaugh just signed off on a plan to cooperate with the US Army Corp of Engineers to use his property to store sand and then spread it along the beach where he resides. In his easement deal with the Corps obtained through the town of Palm Beach, Limbaugh is allowing the use of his 2.5 acre compound on the extreme north side of the island to “enhance shoreline management” and provide “storm protection in safe guarding coastal properties”.
He has everything he can ever want now, and for generations to come. Starving or having to go to a soup line will never happen to Rush Limbaugh. But hearing him talk about how things were in 1933 as compared to how they are now, you get the feeling that Rush would prefer seeing soup lines make a comeback, would prefer seeing other Americans starve, jobless and homeless.
After rambling on about the unemployment and homelessness then and now, and what was different then as oppose to now, Rush concluded;
In 1933, if you were out of work, you didn’t eat. You had to stand in a soup line and depend on charity. In 2015, you can be among the 94 million not working and have a roof over your head, have a cell phone, a car, your air conditioned home probably– or your home is probably air conditioned and, you’re eating as much as you want.
He then ask himself, “What you want people to starve?” He mockingly answered, “No.” He ended his diatribe with, ” If you can eat, and have a house, and a big screen, and a cell phone without working, who in the world is paying for it? Back during the Great Depression, if you couldn’t pay for it, you didn’t have it.”
Rush Limbaugh wants all the Republican candidates for 2016 to stop admitting that the invasion of Iraq was a failure. Instead, the mouthpiece of the Republican party wants the other members of his party to blame Obama and Democrats for the war and everything else that went wrong with the Bush-led invasion.
His advice to Republicans is to say that Democrats “attempt[ed] to divide this country by sabotaging the war effort” and “these things we’re living with today… are the result of the Barack Obama presidency.”
In other words, the mouthpiece of the Republican party want Republicans to lie about the war and its outcome. And the so-called “Christian Conservatives” will gladly accept Limbaugh’s talking point.
You thought idiots like Rick Wiles would by now be laughed out of society and be ridiculed for the pure bull that escapes his lips. And you probably thought by now his audience would be wise enough to realize that fools must not be followed. But Wiles still has an audience who amazingly takes him seriously and yes, regardless of the facts, Wiles is still spewing his special brand of bull…
“Here in the U.S.A., Barry Soetoro, alias Barack Obama, continues to lead his Marxist revolution to overthrow American society and its government. We have Marxist communists marching in the streets of U.S. cities chanting, ‘What do we want? Dead cops now.’ And what happens? Cops sitting in their cruiser get shot in the head. Is it any surprise that this is happening? I warned the American people in 2008 that Barack Obama is a dangerous Marxist communist revolutionary who will start race riots and another civil war and set America on fire. He’s getting away with his radical revolutionary agenda because people can’t believe it’s actually happening. It’s so surreal that people can’t bring themselves to admitting that a Marxist, communist revolution is actually underway in the United States of America.
Wiles later added that gains in marriage equality over the past several years have put America “in direct rebellion against God,” warning that the country has “gone over the morality cliff and the next sound you will hear will be the splat.”
And by “splat,” Wiles means nuclear holocaust, as he went on to suggest that God may punish the U.S. for legalizing same-sex marriage by launching a nuclear war with China that kills millions.
“So go ahead America and wallow around in your decadent, immoral homosexual sex, abortion of millions of babies and your bloody, gory movies, and the bloodshed and violence in your streets and the greed on Wall Street. I promise you there is an end to it coming very soon,” he said. “You allowed militant homosexuals, atheists and secular Jews to take control of your country and turn it into a cesspool of immorality, perversion, violence, rebellion, sorcery and witchcraft; my Bible says such a country will suffer sudden destruction.”
Unlike America, Wiles praised Russia for “building a modern-day Noah’s Ark” that is ready for the looming Last Days.
A day after his Republican party took control of Congress, Rush Limbaugh went on his radio show and began laying down the law, telling Republicans what he expects from them over the next few years – not to govern, but to stop President Obama and any other progress this country expected.
“It is rare that a political party running for office in a midterm election not standing for anything ends up with a mandate, and they have one, and it is the biggest and perhaps the most important mandate a political party has had in the recent era, and it is very simple what that mandate is,” Limbaugh said Wednesday morning. “It is to stop Barack Obama. It is to stop the Democrats. There is no other reason why Republicans were elected yesterday. Republicans were not elected to govern.”
In fact, Limbaugh said it would be impossible to “govern” with a president in office who “disobeys the Constitution” and “is demonstrably lawless.”
“Yesterday’s result cannot in any way mean that voters want Republicans to work with Democrats,” Limbaugh said. “And anybody who tells you that and anybody who thinks that could not be more dangerously wrong.”
Mark my words. Despite the “coming together” rhetoric from the Republicans now that they control Congress, this point of view by Rush Limbaugh will soon permeate the GOP landfill and every elected Republican official will use this talking-point as their excuse not to govern. Expect to hear these Republicans say, we were not elected to govern, but to stop the Democrats!
Personally, I would never put Rush Limbaugh in the news business, but a new survey from Pew Research finds that Rush Limbaugh is America’s least-trusted news source. And who does America trust most?
Thirty-nine percent of respondents to the Pew poll say they don’t trust Limbaugh, a bombastic conservative radio voice. Fox News follows closely with 37 percent saying they don’t trust the network. Glenn Beck ranks third, with 24 percent of respondents saying they distrust Beck.
The Pew survey was conducted March 19-April 29.
The five major news networks top the trust spectrum, with 54 percent of respondents saying they trust CNN, 50 percent saying they trust ABC and NBC, 46 percent saying they trust CBS and 44 percent saying they trust Fox News.
Forty-four percent of respondents say they get their news from CNN.
Day after day, Republicans tun in by the millions to hear the things Rush Limbaugh say. Not only to hear the things he say, but also to memorize the list of new talking points from their leader with the golden mic.
On Monday, said leader with the golden mic went on a rant, stating, without facts of course, that president Obama is allowing Americans to be infected with the Ebola virus as a payback for slavery.
I know, I know, just when you think a couldn’t get any crazier, this will be the new talking point from the Republican party.
While speaking with one of the unfortunate callers on his nationally syndicated talk show, ‘the Limbaugh’ said that there are liberals who believe that America is responsible for the spread of Ebola in Liberia because that nation was established by freed American slaves.
“And if it hadn’t been for that they probably wouldn’t have [Ebola]. So there are some people who think we kind of deserve a little bit of this,” he said, before accusing elected leaders of purposely leaving the country vulnerable to the virus.
“The danger we have now is that we elected people in positions of power and authority who think this or think like this in terms of this country being responsible, this country being to blame for things and it’s that kind of thinking that leads to opposition to shutting down airports from various countries,” Limbaugh explained, referring to the Obama administration’s handling of the crisis.
“It leads to opposition to keeping these people out of the country: ‘How dare we? We can’t turn our back on them! They exist because of us. We can’t turn them away!’”
Ever wondered how the conservative’s mind work? Why they go against all the normal reactions to the most horrendous things, choosing instead to hold on to the most outrageous theories their one collective mind musters up?
I wonder about that all the time, especially when a frequent user of that one conservative mind makes his thoughts known.
Here’s Rush Limbaugh for example, explaining his thoughts – one day after Robin Williams was found dead – that Robin Williams killed himself because of his liberal ideology.
“What is the left’s world view in general? If you had to attach, not a philosophy, but an attitude to a leftist world view. It’s one of pessimism, and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy, are they?”
“They’re animated in large part by the false promises of America because the promises of America are not for everyone.
“Robin Williams felt guilty that he was still alive while his three friends had died young, and much earlier than he had.” the conservative talker explained. “He could never get over the guilt that they died and he didn’t.”
“Well, that is a constant measurement that is made by political leftists in judging the country.”
I think the one mind they collectively use is being over used.
Back when bush invaded iraq on false pretense and with false information, no one on the right questioned his motives. Bush was right they thought, and the conservative and Republican media did all they could to push the weapons of mass destruction lie as a valid reason to invade.
President Obama, then a Senator from Illinois, objected to the invasion and referred to it as Bush’s distraction from a disastrous economy.
Well now that there is a legitimate threat to Iraq’s security called ISIS, President Obama has ordered targeted air strikes to selected targets and the same Republicans and conservatives who pushed Bush’s false narrative, are now questioning Obama’s reasoning, saying that Obama is bombing Iraq to cover up what they call, a failed economy.
This was Rush Limbaugh’s theory:
“He didn’t vote for it,” Rush said of Obama. “He made a speech before it even happened condemning it, that Bush was just dredging it up as a distraction. He makes a speech at the Democrat convention in 2004, called it a dumb war, continued with that theme, and now look where we are. Would it be too cynical to suggest that Obama might be bombing Iraq to distract us from his numerous problems? I mean, we’ve got an immigration disaster taking place. Our economy is a disaster. Obamacare is a disaster.”
