New York Congressman Dressed In Black Face With Afro For Purim Celebrations

Congressman’s Black Face Costume with wife and son

Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind hosted a massive Purim party at his home yesterday that featured over fourteen hours of food and drink and, as is customary on the Jewish holiday, elaborate costumes. Mr. Hikind said a professional makeup artist came to his home to transform him into a “basketball player” with a costume that consisted of an afro wig, sunglasses, an orange jersey and brown face paint.

“I was just, I think, I was trying to emulate, you know, maybe some of these basketball players. Someone gave me a uniform, someone gave me the hair of the actual, you know, sort of a black basketball player,” Mr. Hikind explained. “It was just a lot of fun. Everybody just had a very, very good time and every year I do something else. … The fun for me is when people come in and don’t recognize me.”

The Assemblyman’s wife was dressed as a devil and his son was a trippy, yin-yang-faced “angel.” Mr. Hikind, a Democrat and power broker in the city’s Orthodox Jewish political scene, said he put a sign outside his house in the afternoon letting his neighbors know the door was open and a steady stream of revelers came in to enjoy the festivities throughout the day.

On his blog, the Congressman tried to explain himself. “Yes, I wore a costume on Purim and hosted a party. Most of the people who attended also wore costumes. Everywhere that Purim was being celebrated, people wore costumes. It was Purim. People dress up.”

“I am intrigued that anyone who understands Purim—or for that matter understands me—would have a problem with this. This is political correctness to the absurd. There is not a prejudiced bone in my body.”

Racist Man Who Slapped Baby Loses Job

Thanks @TonyLBlackwell

Well at least there are still some decent people out there. And some of them employed the racist man who slapped a baby calling the child ” a nigger baby.”  After the news broke that one of their employees was an unapologetic racist, these decent people did what had to be done and fired Joe Rickey Hundley.

CNN Reports;

An Idaho man accused of uttering a racial slur and slapping a crying 19-month-old boy on a Delta Air Lines flight is now

Joe Rickey Hundley

out of a job.

Joe Rickey Hundley of Hayden, Idaho, was charged with assaulting a minor in the February 8 incident. His company, which initially suspended him, said Sunday that Hundley no longer has his job.

“Reports of the recent behavior of one of our business unit executives while on personal travel are offensive and disturbing,” said a statement from AGC Aerospace & Defense. “We have taken this matter very seriously and worked diligently to examine it since learning of the matter on Friday afternoon.

“As of Sunday, the executive is no longer employed with the company.”

AGC Aerospace & Defense supplies technology and other services to the military and businesses.

Affidavit: Slap with an open hand

According to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta last week:

The boy’s mother, Jessica Bennett, 33, of Minnesota and her son were seated in row 28, seat B, on Delta Flight 721 that originated in Minneapolis.

As the plane began its descent into Atlanta, the boy began to cry because of the altitude change and his mother tried to soothe him.

Then Hundley, who was seated next to the mother and son, allegedly told her to “shut that (‘N word’) baby up.”

Man Tells Mother – “Shut That Nigger Baby Up,” Then Slaps Baby

After demanding that the mother of a crying toddler “shut that nigger baby up,” a male passenger allegedly slapped the 19-month-old across the face as a flight prepared to land in Atlanta last Friday evening, The Smoking Gun has learned.

The shocking February 8 incident aboard Delta Air Lines Flight 721 resulted in Joe Rickey Hundley, 60, being charged with simple assault, according to a U.S. District Court affidavit. Hundley, seen at right, is president of an aircraft parts manufacturer headquartered in Hayden, Idaho.

Joe Rickey Hundley

In an interview, Hundley denied striking the toddler or using a racial slur, though he did acknowledge that he “asked the mother to quiet the child.” Hundley, who said he was traveling to Atlanta to visit a hospitalized relative, described himself as “distraught” on the flight, during which he said he consumed a single alcoholic drink.

As detailed by FBI Agent Daron Cheney, Hundley was traveling to Atlanta from Minneapolis in seat 28A on the MD-90 twin-engine jet. He was seated next to Jessica Bennett, who shared seat 28B with her son Jonah.

Bennett, 33, told investigators that the “aircraft was in final descent” to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport when her child “started to cry due to the altitude change.” Bennett added that she “was trying to get [her son] to stop crying, but he continued.”

At this point, Bennett recalled, Hundley used the racial epithet as he told her to shut the child up. He then allegedly “turned around and slapped” the toddler in the face “with an open hand, which caused the juvenile victim to scream even louder.” The slap, Bennett said, “caused a scratch below [the child’s] right eye.”

After Hundley hit the child, Agent Cheney reported, Bennett received assistance from several other passengers, including Todd Wooten, who was in seat 16C. Wooten told agents that he “heard derogatory language coming from the rear of the aircraft” and got up to investigate. “According to Mr. Wooten,” Cheney noted, “he saw Joe Rickey Hundley strike” the toddler.

Kentucky Man Displays Watermelon Eating Obama – Maintains It’s Not Racist

A Casey County man says the life-sized mannequin in his front yard of President Obama holding a slice of watermelon was meant as a joke and not a racist display.

“The way I look at it, it’s freedom of speech,” said Danny Hafley. “I don’t know how other people will take it.”

Hafley bought the Obama mask on sale after Halloween and put up the display around the time of November’s presidential election.

The mannequin, dressed in a grey suit, clip-on tie and blue-collared shirt, was originally standing in Hafley’s yard but the homeowner decided it would look better near the road.

“That’s my buddy,” Hafley said. “He don’t talk. Don’t make no smart comments. If I had a dollar for everyone who stopped and took a picture of it I’d be a millionaire.”

When asked the reason behind the watermelon, Hafley responded that he thought the figure “might get hungry standing out here.”

Report: The White House Did Not Change Language In Benghazi Talking Points

John McCain and his Republican friends would not be happy hearing this. According to official reports, the White House had absolutely nothing to do with replacing the words, “al Qaeda” with “Extremists” in the talking points Susan Rice repeated on the Sunday talk shows.

The report:

The intelligence community — not the White House, State Department or Justice Department — was responsible for the substantive changes made to the talking points distributed for government officials who spoke publicly about the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, the spokesman for the director of national intelligence said Monday.

….The initial version included information linking individuals involved in the attack to al Qaeda, according to a senior U.S. official familiar with the drafting of the talking points. But when the document was sent to the rest of the intelligence community for review, there was a decision to change “al Qaeda” to “extremists.” The official said the change was made for legitimate intelligence and legal reasons, not for political purposes.

Republicans led by John McCain, have hoped and prayed that someone in the White House – preferably President Obama – changed those words. Their hope was presenting the Obama administration in a negative light, engaging in a cover-up of the unfortunate events that took the lives of four Americans in Benghazi Libya.

Now that this information is cleared up, are the Republicans going to stop their baseless witch-hunt on Susan Rice? Don’t bet on it. After this news broke, 97 Republicans signed a letter urging President Obama to avoid nominating  Susan Rice for Secretary of State.

Susan Rice has over 20 years of diplomatic experience. She is the United States Ambassador to the United Nations and has the experience and education necessary to represent America as Secretary of State. Why then, are Republicans hellbent on denying her nomination? Said Marcia Fudge, the next chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus:

“All of the things they have disliked about things that have gone on in the administration, they have never called a male unqualified, not bright, not trustworthy. There is a clear sexism and racism that goes with these comments being made by unfortunately Sen. McCain and others.”

It is unfortunately beginning to look that way.

The Race Race

It doesn’t come as a complete surprise, but this article from Yahoo! News about racial attitudes is a shameful comment about our so-called post-racial attitudes. Turns out they aren’t very post-anything.

Antebellum would be more accurate.

From the article:

In all, 51 percent of Americans now express explicit anti-black attitudes, compared with 48 percent in a similar 2008 survey. When measured by an implicit racial attitudes test, the number of Americans with anti-black sentiments jumped to 56 percent, up from 49 percent during the last presidential election. In both tests, the share of Americans expressing pro-black attitudes fell.

And there’s more. This week, Colin Powell officially endorsed Barack Obama for president with eloquence and reason. That, evidently, was not enough for former Bush Chief of Staff, New Hampshire Governor and present Romney staffer John Sununu. His take was that Powell endorsed Obama because he’s black. So is Powell.

In the small mind of a zealot, that makes sense. Not only is this offensive from a racial point-of-view, it is meant to reduce Colin Powell, a great military leader and public servant who actually enunciated a military doctrine that all presidents should honor, to someone who can’t think for himself and must endorse Obama for emotional reasons. He’s questioning Powell’s intelligence. Bad move.

The strategy of dividing the country by race has been a Republican staple since Richard Nixon used the Southern Strategy in his 1968 and 1972 campaigns. Ronald Reagan endorsed state’s rights very early in his 1980 campaign, and Sununu’s boss George H.W. Bush famously made Willie Horton the face of black males in 1988. Racism was muted, for the most part, in the election of 2008 (many Democrats feared a Bradley Effect where people say they’ll vote for a black candidate in a poll, but don’t vote for them in the actual election) as the economy and a near-Depression pushed it to the background. But racism is alive and well in 2012.

Fortunately, I believe, this might be the last national election where the Republican Party’s coalition of older southern and western white voters influences its policy choices. The country is changing demographically and the GOP had better nurture the few African-Americans in its ranks for 2014 and 2016 if it wants to remain competitive. I also expect Latinos like Marco Rubio to be the face of the party at the expense of Paul Ryan. Even young people might find a GOP message more reassuring if it wasn’t so anti-black, brown and gay.

Despite these attitudes, it does look like the United States is about to reelect its first African-American president, and that means something. Obama doesn’t betray a great deal of passion in his non-campaign face, but he desperately wants to win this election for symbolic and political reasons. A one-term presidency would embolden the racists to say that the US tried an African-American president and he failed. Two terms allows Obama to be an even more powerful symbol and leader, as he will now be president when the economy recovers, and the health care, Dodd-Frank and tax reform laws take hold.

In short, he will leave a legacy worthy of a great president.

Top Republican Says “My Party Is Filled With Racists!” – Video

That was the response from Mitt Romney’s top adviser John Sununu, who criticized General Colin Powell‘s decision to endorse President Obama in the presidential election. Sununu insinuated that Colin Powell only endorsed the President because they’re both black.

“Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder whether that’s an endorsement based on issues or whether he’s got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama,” Sununu said in an interview on CNN. When asked to explain his statement, Sununu continued, “Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that you’re proud of being president of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him.”

On The Ed Show, the guest was Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, the Former Chief of Staff at the State Department for Colin Powell. Ed asked his guest to comment on what John Sununu said, and the Mr. Wilkerson’s response took me by surprised. Although I believe what Mr. Wilkerson said is true, hearing him say it was sad. Sad that this was our reality, but still refreshing to hear a Republican telling the truth.

Chris Mathews Owned Republican Chairman Reince Preibus, Calling Him “Garbage!”

If you haven’t seen or heard about this one yet, then have no fear! We have the video below.

Chris Mathews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball sat down with the hosts of Morning Joe and Republican Chairman Reince Preibus for a ‘friendly’ conversation. But anyone who’ve seen Chris Mathews’ show knows that when he gets going, there’s almost no stopping him. And having the Republican Chairman just a few feet away was enough to get Mr. Mathews going.

The ‘friendly’ discussion started with Mathews asking Preibus about some of the “questionable” ads the Romney campaign has run. Ads that many independent sources have called misleading or straight out lies. But what really got Chris going was a recent statement by Mitt Romney at a recent campaign event, where Romney said that no one had to ask for his birth certificate because everyone knows he was born here. To Chris and many others (including me), this statement from Romney was not “just a joke” as Romney and his supporters are calling it. Mr. Mathews saw Romney’s statement and the racial undertones it carried.

The conversation that started out fairly calm ended with the word “garbage” being thrown around, and in once instance, garbage was used to describe the Republican Chairman.

Mississippi Church Issues Appology For Refusing to Marry Black Couple

You expect racism from a certain segment of the Society. A segment that thinks they are superior to others, that they are better, that the blood that flows through their veins comes directly from the Almighty while that of the other ‘inferior beings’ comes from primates, preferably monkeys.

The ironic thing about racism however, is that although the racists think they are superior, they are often the ones stuck in a primitive stage of development, refusing to accept Biblical and basic scientific facts that we are all the same. And they are usually the first ones to justify their hate and ignorance with something from the Bible – another irony… quoting scriptures to validate their hate.

Which brings us to this story about a pastor in Mississippi who refused to marry a black couple simply because…the couple was black.

Te’Andrea and Charles were members of First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs. They were told by their pastor that he couldn’t perform their ceremony at the church because church member would disapprove of a black couple getting married in their sanctuary. The couple moved their wedding to another church, causing a huge backlash in the community and the rest of the Nation.

Today, weeks after their July 21st ceremony, First Baptist Church is offering an apology.

In a statement read at its service and posted online on Sunday, First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs said it never should have asked Te’Andrea Henderson Wilson and Charles Wilson to relocate their July 21 ceremony.

The couple had been told their wedding plans made some congregants uncomfortable at the church in southern Mississippi, a state with a long history of racial divisions.

‘As a church, we express our apology to Te’Andrea and Charles Wilson for the hurt that was brought to them in the hours preceding their wedding and beyond,’ the statement read.
‘We are seeking forgiveness and reconciliation with our Lord Jesus Christ, Te’Andrea and Charles, family and friends of the Hendersons and Wilsons, our church family, and our community for the actions and attitudes that have recently occurred.’

The church said it strives to be open to all people, and its members will continue to pray about the matter.

The church’s decision to move the nuptials stirred racial tensions and drew condemnation from across the globe, as well as reaction from government and religious leaders.

Mississippi Republican Governor Phil Bryant called it ‘unfortunate,’ as did recently elected Southern Baptist Convention President Fred Luter, who is black.

Charles Wilson said yesterday he was not satisfied with the apology because it was not delivered directly to him or his wife.

It also failed to explain why the church denied them a wedding ceremony based solely on their race, he said.

‘As far as this apology, we haven’t heard anything,’ Mr Wilson said. ‘It was stated that they read the apology to the congregation.

‘We were not in their services, so they did not apologise to us … They have not sent us a letter. They have not tried to contact us.’

Mr Wilson said the couple no longer attend the church. They have been invited to join several others in the area and are in the process of visiting them.

Teaparty “Jokes” About President Obama Being Beaten

I came across this today on ThinkProgress. It is an email being circulated to members of a Teaparty group in Pennsylvania called Northeast Pennsylvania Spirit of 1776. They call it a “joke” as usual, and this email follows the pattern of other so-called “jokes” by other Republicans and Teaparty members.

The writers of the email called “Our Forefathers Express Their Outrage” wonders what it would be like when President Obama dies and meet the Forefathers in the afterlife.

It is obvious that these people have no respect for the President, but what happened to respect for the office of the President? Apparently all that went out the window when this particular man became president.

President Obama: Gun Violence “Happening With Too Much Regularity”

President Obama said today that mass shootings like the one Sunday in Wisconsin are “happening with too much regularity” and should inspire “soul searching” by all Americans.

Speaking with reporters in the Oval Office, Obama said ways should be found to reduce gun violence, but he did not discuss specifics. He said he wants to bring together people from throughout society to examine ways to reduce violence.

“There are a lot of elements involved in this,” Obama said.

The president also said he and aides are still awaiting the results of an investigation into Sunday’s shootings at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis.

“All of us are heartbroken by what happened,” Obama said.

The killing of seven people — including the gunman — came less than two weeks after a mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., that left 12 people dead

Republicans Labeled Outhouse “Obama’s Presidential Library”

This is the sophisticated mentality of the people we entrust to lead the greatest nation on earth. In Montana, Republicans gathering for a convention with Former Republican Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich as the Keynote speaker, felt the urgent need to build an outhouse with the words “Obama’s Presidential Library” plastered on its side walls. And for added maturity, fake bullet holes riddled the walls of their creation.

Inside, a fake birth certificate for Barack Hussein Obama made reference to the disproven controversy over the president’s origins. It was stamped “Bull—-.” A graffito advised “For a Good Time call 800-Michelle (crossed out), Hillary (crossed out) and Pelosi (circled in red.)”

Said Will Deschampsthe State Republican Chairman, ” “It’s not something I’m going to agonize over.” He added, “Some of that stuff is not real good taste. We do have a president of the United States, and we have to honor that.”
