President’s Weekly Address – Degrading and Defeating ISIL

In his weekly address, President Obama took his new call to degrade and defend ISIL directly to the American people, explaining the importance of taking the fight directly to the terrorist group.

As Commander-in-Chief, my highest priority is the security of the American people.  And I’ve made it clear that those who threaten the United States will find no safe haven.  Thanks to our military and counterterrorism professionals, we took out Osama bin Laden, much of al Qaeda’s leadership in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and leaders of al Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and Somalia.  We’ve prevented terrorist attacks, saved American lives and made our homeland more secure.

Today, the terrorist threat is more diffuse, from al Qaeda affiliates and other extremists—like ISIL in Syria and Iraq.  As I said this week, our intelligence community has not yet detected specific ISIL plots against our homeland.  But its leaders have repeatedly threatened the United States.  And, if left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond the Middle East, including to the United States.  So we’re staying vigilant.  And we’re moving ahead with our strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy this terrorist organization.

Congress’ Wish for Obama – “Just bomb the place and tell us about it later”

Rep. Jack Kingston

So we may be heading for another war, have you heard? A war with the terrorist group called ISIS. And as such, and according to the United States Constitution, Congress should be the ones making the final decision for war. Congress should have a debate and vote on any military engagement with ISIS.

But Congress is filled to the brim with cowards. Spineless politicians whose only focus is securing their own longevity even at the expense of the American people. Let me rephrase that… especially at the expense of the American people.

So although the Constitution demands that Congress stand up and do their job, the job they were elected to do, chances are that the cowards would cower and bury their heads under a rock until the President makes his decision… again!

Take what Jack Kingston had to say for example. And his sentiments are so true when talking about these congressional cowards. Now Kingston said that he is willing to take a vote on military action against ISIS, but listen to the his words when describing the thinking of his fellow congress members.

“A lot of people would like to stay on the sideline and say, ‘Just bomb the place and tell us about it later. It’s an election year. A lot of Democrats don’t know how it would play in their party, and Republicans don’t want to change anything. We like the path we’re on now. We can denounce it if it goes bad, and praise it if it goes well and ask what took him so long.”

Again, longevity. These people are willing to put aside the Constitution in order to secure another couple of years in Congress. And it makes you wonder, if they don’t want to do their job, why are they trying so hard to keep that job?

Sometimes, politics stink!

Chris Matthews eric holder Mike Brown Shooting Politics

Chris Matthews Wrongfully Criticized President Obama’s Leadership in Ferguson – Video

In a recent MSNBC interview about the events in Ferguson Missouri, Hardball’s host Chris Matthews attacked the president by comparing him to Eric Holder.

Earlier this week, Eric Holder made a visit to Ferguson, the place where citizens protested the murder of Michael Brown by a Ferguson cop, Darren Wilson. The protests have gone on for 12 days now with violent clashes between protesters and police officers with police using rubber bullets, tear gas and snipers to intimidate the protesters. Holders visit came on Wednesday, and is seen as a turning point in the protests. The violence is now minimal or even nonexistent as people are now hopeful that the federal government’s investigation will bring some form of justice to Ferguson.

In his interview with Craig Melvin, Matthews praised Holders visit, and used it to criticize the president.

“It may be a lesson for the president, too,” Matthews said. “And I’m not usually a critic of him but I have to say that I thought that in a very positive way Eric Holder showed how you lead in this country. And a big part of leading is showing up.”

What Matthews conveniently chose to ignore is the fact that Holder is part of the Obama administration, and his visit to Ferguson was initiated by the President himself.

Back on Monday during a press conference, the president called for calm heads to prevail in Ferguson and announced that he will send Eric Holder for a first hand account of the situation.

“The attorney general himself will be traveling to Ferguson on Wednesday to meet with the FBI agents and DOJ personnel conducting the criminal investigation and he will receive an update from them on their progress. He will also be meeting with other leaders in the community,” Obama said during the press conference.

Matthews refused to mention that fact in his criticism. He apparently thinks Holder’s visit was independent to the President’s decision to send him to Ferguson.

Watch President Obama Denounce ISIS for Beheading James Foley – Video

After confirming that the ISIS video showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley was real, President Obama gave this statement, calling ISIS a “cancer” that America will continue fighting, saying that America will be “diligent and relentless” in this fight.

“The whole world is appalled by the brutal murder of James Foley,” the President said. And he denounced the so-called religious “cause” these terrorists are on. “No faith teaches people to massacre innocents. No just God would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day.”

The Ignorant Racists Respond to Obama’s Call for Higher Education – PIC

So the President used his weekly address to call on students and parents to work on achieving higher education and he spoke of ways to make that happen. And just as expected, right on cue, those with the least education among us jumped on YouTube and commented on the president and his message the only way they know how – through racism.

Here is a small segment of the racist ignorance directed to the President’s address on higher education.

President’s Weekly Address – The Ability To Afford Higher Education

President Obama used his weekly address to talk about the start of a new school year and the importance of preparing for an education beyond high school.

Said the president;

And so today, I want to talk directly with students and parents about one of the most important things any of you can do this year — and that’s to begin preparing yourself for an education beyond high school.

We know that in today’s economy, whether you go to a four-year college, a community college, or a professional training program, some higher education is the surest ticket to the middle class. The typical American with a bachelor’s degree or higher earns over $28,000 more per year than someone with just a high school diploma. And they’re also much more likely to have a job in the first place – the unemployment rate for those with a bachelor’s degree is less than one-third of the rate for those without a high school diploma.

But for too many families across the country, paying for higher education is a constant struggle. Earlier this year, a young woman named Elizabeth Cooper wrote to tell me how hard it is for middle-class families like hers to afford college. As she said, she feels “not significant enough to be addressed, not poor enough for people to worry [about], and not rich enough to be cared about.”

Hillary Clinton Calls Obama to Make Amends – Hugs Planned at Martha’s Vineyard

Hillary Clinton found out the hard way that President Obama is still very popular amongst Democrats and liberals – the people whose votes she desperately need if she runs for president in 2016.

After pushing the Republican criticism of the President’s foreign policy decisions, and the backlash he criticism garnered, Hillary Clinton is now backtracking her statement, calling the President and trying to clarify her what she said.

For good measure, she planned on “hugging it out” with the President at an A-list party Wednesday evening on Martha’s Vineyard.
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said Clinton dialed up Obama to emphasize “that nothing she said was an attempt to attack him, his policies, or his leadership.”

“While they’ve had honest differences … some are now choosing to hype those differences but they do not eclipse their broad agreement on most issues,” he said.

“Like any two friends who have to deal with the public eye, she looks forward to hugging it out when she they see each other tomorrow night.”

The attempt at fence-mending came after she critiqued Obama’s foreign policy – and was tweet-slapped by Obama’s former political guru in return.

Republican Official – Forget The Lawsuit, Just Impeach Obama!

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) said in a radio interview Monday that the House needs to stop wasting time and money on suing the President and get straight to impeachment.

In the interview with the “Talk of the Town” radio show on Greenville, N.C. radio station WTIB, which was flagged by BuzzFeed, Jones blasted the vote his colleagues took last week to sue Obama, saying he was “one of the five” Republicans to vote against it. He said it would cost taxpayers too much money.

“My problem with what my party is trying to do to sue is it will cost the taxpayers between two and three million dollars,” Jones said. “Use the Constitution, that’s what it is there for.”

Jones said impeachment was designed to get a President’s attention when he or she surpassed their executive authority.

“Thank Alexander Hamilton. He felt that the Congress needed to use this process to get the attention of a President. And if the President had lost the public trust then move forward in that area,” he said.

MSNBC Host Claims It’s a Fact, That Obama “is From Kenya” – Video

MSNBC host Joy Reid brought on another MSNBC host, Chris Jansing on her show to discuss the U.S.-African Leaders Summit and the importance of the summit being successful under President Obama’s watch. Reid went to Jennings and asked for her input on the success of that Summit and I’m sure she was shocked by Jensing’s Teaparty/Birther answer.

And the fact that he’s from Kenya,” Jansing said. She continued, “and the fact that when he was elected there were great expectations from Africa continent that he would do great things for them…”

She later corrected herself.

Steve King to President Obama – Please Don’t Make us Impeach You

Republicans are determined to somehow bring legal charges against President Obama with their proposed lawsuit. And although John Boehner has said multiple times, that it is not the intention of the Republicans to impeach the President, Boehner has said many things in the past that turned out to be false. And we’ve seen from recent incidents that Boehner has no control over the people in his party. So although he may try to convince the American people that impeachment is off the table, Boehner’s words mean absolutely nothing.

Here’s an example of someone who apparently has more pull than Boehner. Steve King went on Fox News and practically begged the president not to take executive actions on immigration reform. King warned that if such actions are taken by the president, then the I-WORD would surly come into play.

In an interview on Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace asked King what Republicans would do if the president decided to take executive action to stop the deportation of 11 million undocumented immigrants.

“None of us want to do the thing that’s left for us as an alternative,” King explained. “But if the president has decided that he’s simple not going to enforce any immigration law or at least not against anybody except the felons — which essentially he has done already, this is a broader group of people — I think Congress has to sit down and have a serious look at the rest of this Constitution, and that includes that i-word that we don’t want to say.”

The Iowa Republican added: “And I only say that now because I want to encourage the president, ‘Please don’t put America into a constitutional crisis. Please don’t do that. There’s too much at stake in this country to be decided that you can take over the Constitution and write it at will.'”

“You’re saying that if he were to do that, impeachment would be on the table?” Wallace pressed.

“I think then we have to sit down and take a look at that,” King insisted. “If that’s not enough to bring that about then I don’t know what would be. We’ve never seen anything in this country like a president who says I’m going make up all the immigration law that I choose.”
