Watch Rand Paul Run, Trying to Escape The Dreamers – Video

So Steve King and Rand Paul were at a fundraiser in Iowa, eating burgers and meeting supporters. No problem here, politicians do that all the time. But then something strange happened, two Dreamers were ushered to the table to meet the Republicans and when they identified themselves as “Dreamers,” Rand Paul stuffed his mouth with his last bite and sprinted way out of town!

Reminded me of Usain Bolt!

Steve King was forced to explain his controversial “calves the size of cantaloupe” comment, but Paul, the man who is vowing to be Republicans’ fearsome leader and be the President of this country in 2016 was no where to be found.

Republicans Now Want Obama to Use His Executive Order Authority – Video

Luke Russert of MSNBC is stunned. According to Russert, who has covered Congress for the entire time John Boehner has been in charge of the House of Representatives, “…the week the House GOP sued the president over his issue of executive actions, they are now encouraging on a statement to act by himself regarding the border,” Russert said. “You really can’t make that up.”

The MSNBC reporter was talking about the House Republicans canceling a vote on the border bill before heading home for yet another vacation. The bill never made it to the floor and Republicans were okay with leaving Washington and heading home, with the border crisis still unsettled. Russert reported that they now want President Obama to use his Executive Order authority, although they’re presently suing him for using his Executive Order authority.

In his reporting, Russert couldn’t believe what was happening. Like he said, “you really can’t make that up.”

Macho Man Rick Perry Wants The Federal Government to Pay for His National Guards

Big Bad Rick Perry. He don’t need no freakin’ gov’ment! If these little children want to cross the border in his state, then Big Bad Rick Perry knows exactly how to handle these young little rascals whose only hope is to survive. He’ll send in the National Guards… 1000 of em!

Now Rick Perry already knows that the National Guard can not do anything to these children. He’s already admitted that in numerous interviews. But Big Bad Perry is trying to send a message, a photo-op for those other children thinking about crossing the border –  Look, we have the National Guards at the borders.

“It’s just like a law enforcement effort in your neighborhood,” Perry said, explaining his reasons for ordering up the Guards. “Where you see a parked patrol police car on the corner, and the bad guys see it and don’t commit a crime.”

That message, that photo-op is going to cost the state of Texas $12 million dollars a month.

But according to news reports, Big Bad Perry apparently didn’t think this thing through. Who’s going to pay for the 1000 National Guards ordered by Perry to waste time at the border? A $12 million a month price tag?

Reports say that macho man Perry is now running to the Federal Government to ask for help paying for his vary expensive photo op.

Perhaps realizing the threat, President Obama dispatched a team to the border last week to determine whether a federally organized National Guard deployment was necessary.

No matter what (President Barack) Obama decides to do, Perry has said he intends to ask the federal government to pay for his deployment of 1,000 troops, estimated to cost $12 million a month.

Nancy Pelosi on Migrant Kids – Dems are “Committed” on Addressing Their Humanitarian Needs

As Republicans jump all over each other looking for a microphone and camera to debut their newest humiliating idea about the kids crossing the border, Democrats are more concerned about the kids’ humanitarian needs.

Appearing in the Capitol with the presidents of Honduras and Guatemala, the minority leader suggested Democrats wouldn’t accept any border-assistance bill that rolls back the mandatory due process rights currently afforded those children.

“We are committed to addressing their humanitarian needs; we are committed to due process for them,” Pelosi said during a briefing. “In order for that to happen, we must pass the president’s request.”
With more than 57,000 unaccompanied children crossing the border since October, Congress is wrestling with a legislative response that will speed the processing of those kids while ensuring they aren’t sent back into harm’s way.

Latino Community Holds Funeral For The Death of The Republican party

“The Republican Party is essentially dead to our community. They have killed the dreams of thousands of people,” said Greisa Martinez, an organizer with United We Dream, the youth-led immigration advocacy network that organized the event. Explaining that her mother is undocumented, Martinez said, “They have killed the dreams of my mother for not moving forward on immigration reform. They have killed the dreams of millions of people across the nation. And we’re here to say, ‘Enough.'”

Dressed in black and carrying a mock coffin, a coalition of immigration activists paraded through the halls of the Dirksen and Hart Senate buildings on Monday morning as part of a protest of the Republican Party’s stance on immigration.

During the staged funeral procession, demonstrators said that they wouldn’t cry for the Republican Party or mourn its death because its politicians are out of touch on immigration and no longer represent their community.

The procession started at Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) office and meandered through the halls, stopping at the offices of Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas). At each office, the casket was laid outside the office doors while members of the procession, some of whom were undocumented, shared personal stories to suggest that the GOP is out of touch on immigration.

Man Tried to Hang Himself… on Border Fence

The 27 year old man from Mexico apparently thought dying was better than living in his homeland.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent near 1st Street saw the man scaling the fence with a rope on the Mexico side about 7 p.m. As the agent approached, the man wrapped the rope around his neck, hanging himself on the U.S. side of the fence, Border Patrol Agent Eduardo Jacobo said.

The agent grabbed the man by his legs, elevating him to release the pressure around his neck, until another agent arrived to help, a Border Patrol news release said. At some point, the rope came loose and the agents lowered the man to the ground.

The man wasn’t breathing and was unresponsive, the release said. An agent was able to revive him.

The man, identified only as a citizen of Mexico, was taken by ambulance to Calexico Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

BIG Government Rick Perry Wants The National Guard at The Border – Video

Big government indeed. Rick Perry, governor of Texas, is requesting more and more from tax payers and ultimately the Federal Government. He wants the National Guard to come in and patrol the border not because they can make arrests, they can’t, but because he wants the visual.

According to the backward thinking of Big Government Rick Perry, who was interviewed on Fox News by Brit Hume, cutting into the already depleted budget to pay a few thousand of National Guardsmen to patrol the border for the perfect picture moment, is how we will stop the children from coming over the border.

“They need to be right on the river. They need to be there as a show of force because that’s the message that gets sent back very quickly to Central America,” he said.

Hume challenged Perry, asking what purpose troops could actually serve.

“They’re not, under the law, allowed to apprehend any of these children that are crossing, are they?” he asked.

“The issue is with being able to send that message because it’s the visual of it, I think, that is the most important,” Perry responded. “If you don’t stop the bleeding. If you don’t staunch this flow of individuals that are coming up here, this is only going to get worse.”

Hume continued to press Perry.

“But the question I’m trying to get at with you is this: if these children, who have undergone these harrowing journeys to escape from the most desperate conditions in their home countries, have gotten this far, are they really going to be deterred by the presence of troops along the border who won’t shoot them and can’t arrest them?” he asked.

“I think we’re talking about two different things here,” Perry responded.

The governor then added that the “most humanitarian thing that we can do” is to take care of the undocumented immigrants, quickly process them and return them to their families.

Bryan Fischer Says “Our Southern Border Is There By God’s Design”

Oh wait! So you didn’t know that the borders were God’s design? You didn’t know that it was his intention that people stay separated? Well according to the Republican “Christian” preacher, preaching Republican policy ideas, that is exactly the case.

In a column for BarbWire today, Fischer writes, “What we learn from the Bible is that borders are God’s idea, and that such borders are to be respected. They are not to be crossed without permission.”

As a result, he writes, “[o]ur southern border is there by God’s design” and those who “regard it as something not worth respecting and defending” are insulting God.

He gives himself an out by adding an exception to biblical national borders in the case of “a just war.”

What we learn from the Bible is that borders are God’s idea, and that such borders are to be respected. They are not to be crossed without permission.

Crossing a border without permission is like breaking in the back door of a house to help yourself to goodies instead of being invited in by the host through the front door. You might get to eat either way, in the same house and from the same cupboard, but in one case you would be doing something respectful and civil and in the other doing something that rightly should land you in jail.

The Scriptures make it clear that national sovereignty, including clearly defined borders, is God’s idea. In Acts 17:26, we read, “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place…” (Emphasis mine throughout.)

Two things, we are told, are under God’s sovereign control: how long a nation lasts, and where its borders are. The verb translated “having determined” is the Greek verb “horizo,” from which we get the word “horizon.” It means “to mark out, to define.” So God has marked out and defined the borders of each country.

Our southern border is there by God’s design. To disregard it, to treat it as if were not there, to regard it as something not worth respecting and defending, is an insult to the God who put it there for our benefit.

The lesson? Each nation’s sovereignty is marked by its boundary, and each nation has the moral right to decide who will be given permission to enter its sovereign territory. Moses recognized this, and so should we. The only exception is under circumstances of a just war.

Bottom line: borders are biblical, and are there by God’s sovereign design. And they are to be respected by everyone.

President Obama – The Real Problem with Immigration is Congress

Following his meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry, President Obama  issued a statement saying that there are no real differences between what he an Perry wants in regards to the border security and immigration issues in South Texas. The President stated that the real stumbling block is getting Congress to act on getting things done.

“The problem here is not a major disagreement around the actions that could be helpful in dealing with the problem. The challenge is, is Congress willing to act to get this done,” the president told reporters. “The question is are we more interested in politics or are we more interested in solving the problem.”

The president urged Republicans to put politics aside and act on his request for $3.7 in emergency funding to cope with the influx of unaccompanied minors flooding across the border.

“Congress has the ability to work with all parties involved to directly help this solution,” Obama said. “This supplemental offers them the ability to work immediately to get this done.”

See It Again – President Obama To Use Executive Action for Immigration Reform – Video

I guess Boehner and his Republican followers will add this to their lawsuit against the President. They’re not doing anything, so they’re upset that the President is. Today, our fearless leader ventured out on the White House lawn and told the world the hell with Republicans and their proposed lawsuit. If Congress fails to do what the constitution demands, then he will!

The Changing Immigration Landscape

Although the main stories in the press focus on gridlock and the lack of compromise, that doesn’t mean that things aren’t slowly changing in the United States. As usually happens, change is driven by the people as they react to circumstances created by the politicians, and that in turn leads to more calls for change. Politicians, meanwhile, usually lag behind the grass-roots calls because they are essentially reactive beings loathe to offend or move too fast.

Consider immigration. There is clearly a need to reform out immigration laws, and most of that is related to things other than a path to citizenship. The Republicans have already felt the wrath of Hispanic voters, but because most of the conservatives have safe districts, and because of their irrational fear of giving President Obama any political victory, the party doesn’t full see the urgency for a vote this term.

The latest argument is that Obama is not to be trusted with the law because he’s already made executive changes to the ACA, and the GOP fears that he will make similar changes to anything they negotiate with him. Now, though, they’re being called out by Senator Charles Schumer. His idea is to pass the law, but have it become operative in 2017, after Obama leaves office. After all, the ACA was passed in 2010 and didn’t become fully operational until 2013. Why not immigration? The GOP’s answer, through Rob Portman of Ohio, seems somewhat promising, but overall the Republicans have little interest in taking voters’ minds off the health care rollout, even if millions of Americans now have the security of health insurance.

Make no mistake that immigration reform will get done sooner or later. Sooner, it will be done with Republican input. Later, it will be done solely by Democrats because the growing Hispanic community will see the GOP as an obstacle. The next Republican presidential nominee had better drop the deportation rhetoric if they want to have any chance of being elected.

Meanwhile, the country will move forward with or without the politicians. As it always has.
