For GOP, it’s NEWT to The Rescue – Call the Coroner

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that for the Republican party, the way to move forward is only accomplished in reverse.

Since Boehner jumped ship on the Republican speakership of the House and McCarthy’s candidacy for the same position ended in a belly flop, eyes turned to the only other logical party insider to fill the post, Paul Ryan. Ryan however, has been adamant that he does not want the job.

But this group of misfits in the House of Representatives need a leader, and word on the street is, Newton Gingrich is serious about the gig… again!

“If you were to say to me 218 have called you up and given you their pledge, obviously no citizen could ever turn down that kind of challenge,” Gingrich told radio and Fox host Sean Hannity. “This is why George Washington came out of retirement — because there are moments you can’t avoid.”

“Moments you can’t avoid” would be putting on a blindfold and going for a stroll along the edges of the Grand Canyon. Okay, so you can avoid doing that by choosing not to put on that blindfold or walking along the edges of the Grand Canyon. But if Republicans choose Gingrich as Speaker of the House, then like the blindfolded fool walking along the edge… well, somebody should call the Coroner.

Obama on Immigration – “America’s greatness doesn’t come from building walls”

In his address to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, president Obama took on some of the Republican presidential candidates and their backward stance on immigration. And although he did not mentioned names, allow me to say Donald Trump!

“There’s nowhere they want to go further backwards than on immigration,” said the president, who noted his administration’s progress on reducing the Latino unemployment rate and providing more health care to the minority group.

Although he did not address him by name, Obama appeared to direct some of his comments at Republican front-runner Donald Trump, who has taken one of the toughest stances of any presidential candidate on illegal immigration.

“You’ve got to realize that America’s greatness doesn’t come from building walls, our greatness comes from opportunity,” Obama said.

Trump, whose campaign slogan is “Make America Great Again,” has vowed to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico to stop illegal border crossings. He has also been criticized for making a series of disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants.

Ben Carson Admits – He Punked Out When Man Pulled a Gun On Him

Ben Carson must be trying to overtake Donald Trump with all these dumb statements. Carson, who bragged all week that he would have fought back and encouraged others to do the same if he was in the room when the Oregon massacre began, Ben Carson is now admitting that he punked out when a man tried to rob him at a Popeyes in Baltimore.

On an interview with Karen Hunter’s Sirius XM Radio program, Carson recalled that one time when he had the opportunity to do a Rambo on a gunman, but instead whimpered.

“I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeye’s organization,” Carson said.

“Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,’”

What happened to “the guy behind the counter?” We don’t know, Carson did not say. What is apparent however, Carson did not come to the guy’s rescue as he claimed he would have if he was a victim in the Oregon shooting.

Man Calls Police Because His Girlfriend Wouldn’t Have Sex With Him

Sexual frustration is nothing to play with, but calling the police because you can’t get none? Now that’s on a whole other level of WTF!

When a cop responded to his Spartanburg residence, Patrick Doggett, 53, “stated he called 911 because his girlfriend, Ms. Faye Woodruff, would not give him any ass

Woodruff told police that Doggett had been drinking all day and “didn’t know where he was at.” She added that Doggett got into bed and wanted to have sex, but “she had her grandchild with her.”

So, Woodruff noted, Doggett“got up and then dialed 911.”

Doggett, who was outside the residence drinking an alcoholic beverage when police arrived, was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the county jail (where he remains locked up this afternoon).

Kevin McCarthy Drops Out of Running for Speaker of The House – Video

Besides the fact that he is a Republican, Kevin McCarthy has some other issues. One very big issue is, he cannot formulate a coherent sentence. How can you be Speaker of the House of Representatives when you can’t even… speak?

After doing some soul searching, Kevin McCarthy must have realized the irony of his ambition to be Speaker and decided against it. And he spoke his decision in this statement:

Ben Carson – “I’m not gonna become a vanilla envelope” – Video

Ben Carson. That’s all you really have to say to convey the idea of a man who has mastered the art of putting his foot in his mouth.

Since announcing his intentions to run for President, the Republican candidate has been caught time and again trying to clarify his statements. From his religious test for Muslims being president to his well documented ideas about abortions and contraception, to his drones on the border statement, Carson is constantly trying to explain what he meant to say.

His most recent flare-up happened last week when he implied that the victims of the mass shooting in Oregon stood by waiting to be killed. If he was there, Carson said, he would kindly ask everyone to attack the shooter.

Carson went on Fox and was asked if he has a problem saying things that are more easily accepted.

The convo went something like this;

“It sounds — I understand what you are trying to say underneath — but the problem is the way it sometimes comes across,” Fox host MacCallum said. “It is something you run into time and time again with the comment on Muslims being President and, you know, some other things. So how do you deal with that part of the equation? Because you have to keep cleaning up these comments?”

“I don’t deal with it to be honest with you,” adding, “we’re living” in a divisive culture.

“But does it bother you that you spend time — you’re doing it again here right now — sort of saying here is what I meant to say,” MacCallum continued. “As a candidate, do you need to get better at saying what you mean?”

Carson replied;

“I don’t think so, actually. I think people know exactly what I am saying, and they know exactly what the media is trying to do. And I think they are smarter than that and they’re not going to be manipulated.”

“So, I’m not gonna change and become a — you know — a vanilla (sic) envelope that they can accept,” Carson continued. “They’re never going to accept me because I don’t believe in political correctness. I can twist myself in pretzels trying to fit into their box or be who I am. And we need people to stand up and talk what’s logical right now.”

Investigation – NYPD Used “Excessive Force” to “Arrest” Tennis Star James Blake

Buzzfeed is reporting that an independent investigation by the Civilian Complaint and Review Board found that the the New York Police Department officer who mistakenly arrested James Blake last month used excessive force during the takedown.

“I appreciate the efforts of the CCRB to advance this investigation,” Blake said in a statement.

The NYPD arrested Blake on Sep. 9, after a group of plainclothes officers mistook him for a suspect in a credit card fraud scheme. The violent arrest, in which an officer tackled the athlete without warning, was captured on video. It soon emerged neither Blake nor the suspect, both of whom are black, had any connection to the scheme.

“We have been made aware of the CCRB’s findings. The department’s internal review is still on-going,” the NYPD said in a statement.

Although Blake was not seriously injured, the incident unleashed a public relations crisis for the NYPD, which still struggles with allegations of racial profiling and excessive force. Both Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton issued rare public apologies to the athlete, who said he welcomed the apologies but insisted that the city take substantive steps to address the issues.

The CCRB’s finding opens the door for a departmental trial against Officer James Frascatore, who tackled Blake, and Detective Daniel Herzog, who was also involved in the arrest. The two officers will have an advocate who will contrast their side of the story with the CCRB’s finding. In the end, Commissioner Bratton will have the final say on whether the officers will be disciplined, and if so in what form.

Bobby Jindal Blames Single Mothers and Abortion for Oregon Shootings

No one is talking about Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Since announcing that he is running for president, Bobby Jindal has been left out of every single conversation about the presidency. So in an effort to be relevant, bobby Jindal is blaming the shooting in Oregon on abortion and single mothers.

In the post (which we saw via ThinkProgress), titled “We Fill Our Culture With Garbage, And We Reap The Result,” Jindal “speak[s] the truth” about our “cultural rot.” A cultural rot apparently wrought on us, not by the easy availability of deadly weapons, but by violent television, video games, abortion, and single mothers. It’s like Republican Bingo and Jindal just hit the jackpot.

Jindal writes:

“We devalue human life, we have no regard for the sanctity of human life in any regard, from the unborn, to the old, and to every single person in between, we devalue it and act as if we have almost no regard for humanity.”…

In the next polls, expect to see Jindal’s numbers right where they are now – between 1 and 2%. Although Republicans love to talk about abortions and love blaming single mothers for everything wrong with society,  Bobby Jindal is clearly not
their messenger.

I also expect he’ll drop out of the race before December.

Lindsey Graham Wants Federal Aid for South Carolina – Voted Against Aid for New Jersey

Natural disasters don’t care who you are or where you live. And when they happen, we should all come together and help each other.

But back in 2013 when hurricane Sandy crippled the east coast, South Carolina Senator and current Republican presidential candidate, Lindsey Graham, voted to deny federal help for those in need.

My oh my how times have changed. In an interview on CNN, Graham was asked about his apparent hypocrisy and why federal help is necessary for South Carolina and not New Jersey.

He had no answer but knew 100 percent that his state needed all the federal help they can get no matter the cost.

“Let’s just get through this thing, and whatever it costs, it costs,” Graham told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room.

Then the amnesia set in when he was asked about his vote to not help the people of New Jersey.

“I’m all for helping the people in New Jersey. I don’t really remember me voting that way,” Graham said.

Pressed further, he said: “Anyway, I don’t really recall that, but I’d be glad to look and tell you why I did vote no, if I did.”

Republican’s Advice to Christians – “think about getting a handgun permit”

The Republican Lt. Governor from Tennessee, Ron Ramsey, went on his Facebook page with a message for all his “fellow Christians who are serious about their faith.” According to Mr. Ramsey, his fellow Christians should “think about getting a handgun permit.”

Ron Ramsey was referencing the recent mass shooting in Oregon, where a crazed gunman asked students at the Umpqua Community College if they were Christians, then shot the ones who answered yes. On the post, Ramsey wrote;

While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.

But Ramsey didn’t stop there. He also included a link to a state government Web site that showed residents the steps in getting a gun permit.

Good work Mr. Ramsey. Jesus would be so proud!

Report: MSNBC and Keith Olbermann to Meet About Possible Return

Mediaite is reporting the possible return of Keith Olbermann to MSNBC, jump starting his “Countdown” program and using the 8pm time slot currently occupied by Chris Hayes. In an exclusive posting, Joe Concha at Mediaite states;

A well-placed source now informs me that a meeting has been set between Olbermann and Lack to discuss his return to the network and his old 8:00 PM slot. This arrangement was something that Mediaite’s Andrew Kirell first wrote about as a rumor in July; when asked for comment, a network executive with knowledge close to the situation tells me, “It is patently untrue.”

Said source indicates the impetus for the conversation is to jumpstart sagging ratings under Hayes, which despite an Emmy win this year has been a consistent drag on the rest of primetime since launching on April Fools Day in 2013. At one point this year in May, the show averaged only 74k in the demo, making it the worst performing MSNBC program at 8:00 PM since 2005. And given Olbermann is now a free agent after leaving ESPN again in July (Note: on good terms if the company’s farewell statement is any indication), he appears to be the only remedy for Lack.
