Cruz Bumps Trump, Rubio A ReMarcoble Third, Dems Deadlocked

I’m not really the type to say “I told you so,” but I indeed told you so on numerous occasions that Donald
Trump would not be the GOP nominee and neither will Ted Cruz.

Trump’s second place finish in Iowa is but the first blow to his campaign, because while he was battering Cruz with ads and withering sarcasm, Marco Rubio, who is no moderate, snuck up on him and finished a very strong third. This gives the GOP alternatives to Trump and my sense is that they will take advantage of that.

Iowa also marked the beginning of either the beginning or the end of some of the more moderate Republican campaigns. Jeb, Kasich and Christie absolutely must come in second or third in the Granite State if they are to have any traction for the rest of the month and to stick around for Super Tuesday. By next week the GOP field should lose Fiorina, Carson and Paul, and their supporters will have to go somewhere. My guess is that they won’t go to Trump or Cruz.

Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Bernie and Hillary were locked in a tight race that likely serves Sanders better because the polls said he would lose by a small margin. To lose by an even smaller margin, or perhaps to eke out a small win, puts Clinton back a bit going into New Hampshire where Bernie is expected to do very well.

Funny how actual voting can really mess up a narrative. Onward we go.

Ted Cruz Forced to Defend his “Obamacare is a job killer” Lie – Video

Current Republican presidential candidate and former Canadian citizen until a few months ago, Ted Cruz, got a rude awakening when he visited his friends at Fox News and got called out by Chris Wallace on his lie that Obamacare is a job killer.

“The fact checkers say you’re wrong,” Wallace told Cruz. “Since that law went into effect, the unemployment rate fell from 9.9% to 5% as 13 million new jobs were created, and 16.3 million people who were previously uninsured now have coverage. There are plenty of problems with Obamacare, but more people have jobs and health insurance.”

Naturally, Cruz went on to claim that fact checkers are liberally biased.

“Fact checkers are not fair and impartial,” Cruz responded. “They are liberal editorial journalists. And they have made it their mission to defend Obamacare.”

“Wait,” Wallace shot back. “There’s certainly no question that more people have jobs and more people health insurance.”

“Yes, there is question,” Cruz replied. “The fact is from 2008 to today, we’ve seen economic growth of 1.2% on average.”

Notice how he said “from 2008 to today” – that’s important. Cruz is lumping in 2008 and 2009 which were horrible years for jobs because that’s when the Great Recession began. Naturally, when you factor in those two disastrous years it’s going to make the year-to-year job growth percentages under President Obama appear to be much worse than they are. Especially when you consider that Obama wasn’t even president in 2008.

Also, Cruz can say whatever he wants, but it’s indisputable that the unemployment rate is down to 5 percent, that we’ve created over 13 million new jobs and over 16 million people have gained access to health insurance. Those aren’t numbers that were made up by a “biased” fact checker, they’re facts – period.

Donald Trump – “Ted Cruz is an Anchor Baby” – Video

At an event in Nashua, New Hampshire today, Donald Trump continued his attacks against his closest competitor, Canadian born, Ted Cruz, calling the Republican presidential wannabe, “an anchor baby.”

“Now, Ted Cruz may not be a U.S. citizen. Right? But he’s an anchor baby in Canada. No, he’s an anchor baby. Ted Cruz is an anchor baby in Canada,” Trump told the crowd.

Trump later on lambasted Cruz for saying he didn’t know about various loans he received earlier in his political career.

“But he said he didn’t know he was a citizen of Canada, and he didn’t know about Goldman Sacs loaning him money, and he didn’t know about Citibank loaning him money. Other than that, he’s got a very good memory, okay?”

Panderer-in-Chief – Ted Cruz Continues to Pander for the Evangelical Vote – Video

Donald Trump secured the endorsement of Pastor Jerry Falwell Jr. I don’t know why because as far as I know, the pastor should be teaching and preaching about love and compassion, and not the hate mongering shown by Trump and his campaign.

That said, Ted Cruz, a man who can be considered the best panderer in Washington, panders even more for the evangelical vote by going all out Christian.

“I fear for America,” he said. “If we keep on this path there comes a point of no return and my prayer is that this awakening continues, that the body of Christ rise up to pull us back from the abyss.”

After mentioning how campaigning has been “humbling,” Cruz said that “we are going to, together with God’s blessing and grace, pull America back from the abyss and it is this election that makes the difference.” He then urged people who oppose gay marriage and abortion rights to back him in the Iowa caucuses.

Donald Trump’s Ad Tears into Hypocritical Ted Cruz on Immigration – Ad

We know they’re all hypocrites, masters at saying one thing now because they’re looking for votes. But what Donald Trump did to Ted Cruz in this new ad was actually brilliant. He matched the things Cruz is saying now to what he said in the past, and guess what? Ted Cruz, as it turns out, is just your regular everyday Republican establishment politician, saying the things he deem necessary to win over a particular audience.

In other words, Ted Cruz is the epitome of a politician… although he wants you to believe he is an “outsider!”

The video below shows just two different sides of Ted Cruz on the immigration/amnesty issue – his stance when he was for immigration because it was the right thing to do, and his stance now being against immigration, since the people he is pandering to for votes are also against immigration.

Iowa Governor Wants Ted Cruz to Lose in Iowa – Video

Gov. Terry Brandstad sounds like a smart man.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad says he still won’t endorse a Republican presidential candidate before the Feb. 1 caucuses. But Tuesday, for the first time, Branstad said he wants Texas Senator Ted Cruz defeated.

“Yes,” Branstad told Channel 13 News Tuesday morning when asked if he wants Cruz, who is currently leading the Iowa polls, to lose.

Branstad made his comments after addressing a room of alternative energy supporters at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit in Altoona.

“I think it would be very damaging to our state,” Iowa’s governor said of a Cruz victory on caucus night.

Another Constitutional Scolar Says Ted Cruz is “Ineligible” to Run for President – Video

Ted Cruz would love for this issue to die, for it to just go away. But it seems to be sticking around for the time being and with good reason. Ted Cruz, born in Canada and a Canadian citizen up to a few months before he declared his intent to run for president, has maintained that having an American mother gives him “Natural Birth” status in his birth place of Calvary Canada. Cruz has maintained that this “Natural Birth” status is “settled law.”

But it is not settled law as the courts have not adjudicated the matter. And the fact that numerous law professors and Constitutional Scholars are coming out saying that Cruz cannot run for president is making this issue even more detrimental to the Cruz campaign.

One of the Constitutional Scholars, Mary Brigid McManamon, wrote about the issue in the Washington Post explaining her reasoning. She sat down with Lawrence O’Donnell and further made her case that Ted Cruz is ineligible to run for president.

Trump Blasts Cruz on Twitter – Calls Him “The Ultimate Hypocrite” and a “Natural Born Canadian”

Donald Trump continued his assault on Ted Cruz on Saturday, using Twitter, along with his many  followers to hit Cruz on the fact that he was born in Canada. “Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a “natural born Canadian,” did he borrow unreported loans from C banks?”

And the fact that Ted Cruz failed to disclose the almost $`1 million in campaign contributions he received from Goldman Sachs. “Greatly dishonest of #TedCruz to file a financial disclosure for & not list his lending bans- then pretend he is going to clean up Wall St”

And a hit on Ted Cruz for his “New York Values” criticism of New Yorkers. “Everybody that loves the people of New York, and all they have been thru, should get hypocrites like Ted Cruz out of politics!”

Then Cruz’s claim that his is opposed to gay marriage. “If Ted Cruz is so opposed to gay marriage, why did he accept money from people who espouse gay marriage?”

And speaking the truth for a change, calling Cruz “the Ultimate hypocrite.” “Ted is the ultimate hypocrite. Says one thing for money, does another for votes.”

New York Republican Donors Upset with Ted Cruz “New York Values” Statement

Ted Cruz insulted New Yorkers while trying to raise his poll numbers in Iowa and New Hampshire. But the Republican presidential hopeful forgot that while insulting the entire state, there are Republicans and Republican donors in the state too, and these people just might not like the fact that he is demoralizing them.

Longtime New Yorker and Republican donor John Catsimatidis is one of these people. In an interview, Catsimatidis told MSNBC that Ted Cruz should be ashamed for insulting New Yorkers with his slam at “New York values.”

“I think that whether you’re a Democrat or whether you’re Republican, that every New Yorker was upset about it. Because it was nuts!” the grocery store mogul and Republican donor told MSNBC on Friday afternoon. “A presidential candidate should not try and tear up the country by tearing up section by section.”

Catsimatidis — best known in politics for big donations to conservatives and a failed mayoral bid in 2013 — gave the maximum $5,400 to Cruz this spring (as well as donating thousands to many other 2016 candidates, including Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Lindsey Graham), but said he was upset to hear the remark, which seemed to insinuate that the city was too socially liberal.

“I think he’s trying to say that ‘Hey, you guys are New York: You got too many gays, you got too many transgenders, you got too many this, you got too many that.’ Look, we live in the greatest city in the world, New York, and I think he should be ashamed,” he said, calling the remark a “mistake” but saying he’d considering hearing the senator out more if he apologized.

NY Governor Slams Cruz – Says He’s “Divisive” and “Anti-American” – Video

Ted Cruz launched what turned out to be a very feeble criticism on Donald Trump when he spoke about Trump’s “New York Values,” suggesting that New Yorkers live by a different standard and a different set of values than the rest of the nation, that somehow our value system doesn’t add up to his own or that of the rest of the country. His statement was an obvious slap to the Republican frontrunner and all of us in the Big Apple.

Today, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, slammed Cruz and his comment as divisive and “anti-American.”

Republicans Plan to Win the White House? – Become the Party of White People

These are confusing times for the Republican party. After the whipping they took from President Obama during the two presidential campaigns, the Republican establishment thought variety was the spice of life, and the key to victory if they were to win the White House again. Party leaders embarked on a fact-finding mission to figure out ways to make the GOP appeal to a broader spectrum of the electorate, and the results of that mission were shocking to no one but the GOP – the party needed to be more diverse.

So with the results of that mission in hand and the 2016 Presidential election right around the corner, what would be the best winning strategy for the GOP? To appeal to more white people… apparently!

There has been a debate within the party — and the political class — about whether Republicans need to diversify to win or whether it just needs to attract even more of its core constituencies. So far in 2016, led by Cruz and Donald Trump, the election has moved decisively toward the latter. The exceptions, such as Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham, are either out of the race or on the edges of it.

Trump is making the most visceral, raw appeal to people who feel left out of the economic recovery and ignored by the political establishment. He espouses hard-line views on immigration that border on nativism, protectionist trade policies and a tough approach with countries like China, Japan and Mexico that he portrays as thieves of U.S. manufacturing jobs.

Cruz, a Texas senator, is taking a similar tack, especially on immigration, airing a provocative television ad last week that depicts illegal immigrants racing across the U.S. border in suits and high heels to steal jobs from Americans.

Rand Paul – Ted Cruz “is a Natural Born Canadian” #Truth

If I had to pick sides in this fight over Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth to an American mother, and whether that Canadian Birth qualifies Cruz as a “Natural Born” American, I will definitely side with Rand Paul.

Paul is one of the more sensible people on the Republican side running for president, sensible probably because he is not really a Republican, but a libertarian.

Paul went on Fox News today and answered the question that lawyers and constitionalists have wondered about ever since Ted Cruz entered the Republican  presidential nomination contest – whether or not Cruz was a natural born American citizen. Rand Paul’s answer took the confusion out of the issue and simplified it enough that even the Supreme Court would understand.

“Cruz is a natural-born Canadian,” Paul said. “He was naturally born there. The question is, can you be natural-born Canadian and natural-born American at the same time? Maybe, but I think the courts will have to decide it, because it’s never really been decided.”

Still confused? That’s the problem. Sometimes we look at the simplest of issues and confuse the hell out of them. If Ted Cruz was born in Canada, then he is a Natural Born Canadian with an American mother. It’s really not that confusing.
