Republican Woman Ran Over Husband With SUV Because Obama Won Re-Election

The crazies are really coming out now. Yes, President Obama was reelected by a majority of the Electoral votes and he received a majority of the popular votes. Any sane person will accept the fact that democracy worked and the best man won.

But since his win, there have been calls from various states to secede from the Union. There are also individuals calling the president the n-word and wishing assassination on him. We are now hearing of other stories where spouses are trying to kill each other.

Here’s another example of the Republican insanity that has captured the wing-nuts just because democracy worked. She is 28-year-old Holly Solomon, and she ran over her husband with her SUV because Obama won. Her argument? Her husband didn’t vote:

According to police in Gilbert, 28-year-old Holly Solomon of Mesa and her husband Daniel argued loudly in a local parking lot before Holly got in her Jeep SUV and began chasing Daniel around. She eventually managed to pin him underneath the vehicle as he was trying to run away.

Daniel sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

“According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama’s re-election,” Gilbert police Sergeant Jesse Sanger said in a statement.

Who would have thought democracy was such a bad thing?

The freaks are really coming out now…!

Shutting Down The Republican Lie That “23 Million People Are Unemployed”

Mitt Romney has used this talking point in the debates and he uses it all the time on the campaign trail. He never states where this information came from, because accurate information is not necessary in Republican world. And his mouthpieces are now using the same talking point, but today, one person stood up for the truth.

Her name is Neera Tanden. She was a guest on the Melissa Perry Show this morning, and responding to the talking-point, Ms Tanden said, “23 million people aren’t unemployed. This is something that Mitt Romney says, it’s not true. We have an under-employment problem.”

And the record reflects Neera Tanden’s point. According to CNN reporting, “the U.S. Labor Department, which puts out the official government jobs data, counts 12.8 million people as unemployed — not 23 million.

“Even if you add in unemployed people who are not counted in that total because they are not actively looking for work — a category the Labor Department terms “marginally attached” — that number rises to just over 15.3 million.”

But again, Republican never let facts get in the way of a good talking point.

Republican Woman Arrested For Trying To Vote Twice

Investigators today arrested a Southern Nevada woman suspected of trying to vote twice this week at two different polling locations.

Roxanne Rubin was taken into custody as she arrived for work at the Riviera hotel-casino, investigators said. Rubin, 56, is a registered Republican who lives in Henderson, according to the Clark County Registrar.

Rubin allegedly cast a vote Monday at the Anthem Community Center in Henderson. Later that day, she tried to vote a second time at an early voting location on Eastern Avenue, investigators said.

When Rubin arrived at the second location, a poll worker conducted a routine database check and found Rubin had already voted. When confronted by the poll worker, Rubin denied having voted and claimed the database used by the poll worker was wrong.

Poll workers at the Eastern Avenue location blocked Rubin from voting and notified the county registrar’s office, who forwarded the complaint to the Nevada secretary of state.

The Race Race

It doesn’t come as a complete surprise, but this article from Yahoo! News about racial attitudes is a shameful comment about our so-called post-racial attitudes. Turns out they aren’t very post-anything.

Antebellum would be more accurate.

From the article:

In all, 51 percent of Americans now express explicit anti-black attitudes, compared with 48 percent in a similar 2008 survey. When measured by an implicit racial attitudes test, the number of Americans with anti-black sentiments jumped to 56 percent, up from 49 percent during the last presidential election. In both tests, the share of Americans expressing pro-black attitudes fell.

And there’s more. This week, Colin Powell officially endorsed Barack Obama for president with eloquence and reason. That, evidently, was not enough for former Bush Chief of Staff, New Hampshire Governor and present Romney staffer John Sununu. His take was that Powell endorsed Obama because he’s black. So is Powell.

In the small mind of a zealot, that makes sense. Not only is this offensive from a racial point-of-view, it is meant to reduce Colin Powell, a great military leader and public servant who actually enunciated a military doctrine that all presidents should honor, to someone who can’t think for himself and must endorse Obama for emotional reasons. He’s questioning Powell’s intelligence. Bad move.

The strategy of dividing the country by race has been a Republican staple since Richard Nixon used the Southern Strategy in his 1968 and 1972 campaigns. Ronald Reagan endorsed state’s rights very early in his 1980 campaign, and Sununu’s boss George H.W. Bush famously made Willie Horton the face of black males in 1988. Racism was muted, for the most part, in the election of 2008 (many Democrats feared a Bradley Effect where people say they’ll vote for a black candidate in a poll, but don’t vote for them in the actual election) as the economy and a near-Depression pushed it to the background. But racism is alive and well in 2012.

Fortunately, I believe, this might be the last national election where the Republican Party’s coalition of older southern and western white voters influences its policy choices. The country is changing demographically and the GOP had better nurture the few African-Americans in its ranks for 2014 and 2016 if it wants to remain competitive. I also expect Latinos like Marco Rubio to be the face of the party at the expense of Paul Ryan. Even young people might find a GOP message more reassuring if it wasn’t so anti-black, brown and gay.

Despite these attitudes, it does look like the United States is about to reelect its first African-American president, and that means something. Obama doesn’t betray a great deal of passion in his non-campaign face, but he desperately wants to win this election for symbolic and political reasons. A one-term presidency would embolden the racists to say that the US tried an African-American president and he failed. Two terms allows Obama to be an even more powerful symbol and leader, as he will now be president when the economy recovers, and the health care, Dodd-Frank and tax reform laws take hold.

In short, he will leave a legacy worthy of a great president.

Top Republican Says “My Party Is Filled With Racists!” – Video

That was the response from Mitt Romney’s top adviser John Sununu, who criticized General Colin Powell‘s decision to endorse President Obama in the presidential election. Sununu insinuated that Colin Powell only endorsed the President because they’re both black.

“Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder whether that’s an endorsement based on issues or whether he’s got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama,” Sununu said in an interview on CNN. When asked to explain his statement, Sununu continued, “Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that you’re proud of being president of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him.”

On The Ed Show, the guest was Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, the Former Chief of Staff at the State Department for Colin Powell. Ed asked his guest to comment on what John Sununu said, and the Mr. Wilkerson’s response took me by surprised. Although I believe what Mr. Wilkerson said is true, hearing him say it was sad. Sad that this was our reality, but still refreshing to hear a Republican telling the truth.

Lifelong Republican Senator Explains Why He’s Voting For Barack Obama

[I am] a combat veteran of two tours in Vietnam with twenty-two years of service as a Republican member of the U.S. House and Senate, I endorse President Barack Obama for a second term as our Commander-in-Chief. Candidates publicly praise our service members, veterans and their families, but President Obama supports them in word and deed, anywhere and every time.

 As a Vietnam vet, one of the reasons I support President Obama is because he has consistently shown he understands that our commitment to our servicemen and women may begin when they put on their uniform, but that it must never end.
This decision is not easy for any lifelong Republican. In 2008 I voted for Barack Obama, the first time I ever voted for a Democrat, because the Republican Party was drifting toward a dangerous path that put extreme party ideology above national interest. Mitt Romney heads a party remaining on that dangerous path, proving the emptiness of their praise as they abandon our service members, veterans and military families along the way.

What really set me off was Romney’s reference to 47% of Americans to be written off – including any veteran collecting disability like myself, as a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) veteran.

Pro-Life Republican Congressman Forced Mistress To Get An Abortion

Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.), an anti-abortion activist, had an affair with a patient when he was a practicing physician and then pressured her to get an abortion, according to a report by The Huffington Post.

The report, which cites a phone call transcript from 2000, said DesJarlais was “trying to save his marriage at the time.” Said transcript and court documents showed that DesJarlais and the woman went back and forth about undergoing to the procedure.

Some of the quotes from the transcript, via the HuffPost:

“You told me you’d have an abortion, and now we’re getting too far along without one,” DesJarlais tells the woman at one point in the call while negotiating with her over whether he’ll reveal her identity to his wife. They then discuss whether he will accompany her to a procedure to end the sort of life the congressman now describes as “sacred.”

“You told me you would have time to go with me and everything,” the woman complains.

“I said, if I could, I would, didn’t I? And I will try,” DesJarlais says. “If I can [find] time, you’re saying you still will?”

“Yeah,” the woman answers.

The two bicker over when they can meet to hash out a solution, and they make clear the nature of their relationship when DesJarlais says delaying a resolution isn’t fair to his wife.

“This is not fair to me. I don’t want you in my life,” the woman says.

“Well, I didn’t want to be in your life either, but you lied to me about something that caused us to be in this situation, and that’s not my fault, that’s yours,” the doctor responds.

“Well, it’s [your] fault for sleeping with your patient,” the woman fires back.

DesJarlais’ wife had apparently filed for divorce two years prior. The HuffPost provided a copy of the transcript to the congressman — who “did not deny its contents.”

Republicans Effort to Suppress The Vote Fails In Ohio – Early Voting Reinstalled

A federal appeals court ruled Friday that if soldiers from Ohio can cast ballots ahead of time, everyone else should have the same opportunity.

The court said that the state had not shown compelling evidence for why only one group should be permitted to cast ballots on the three days before Election Day. The decision, strongly advocated by the Obama campaign, will likely lead to more ballots cast from poor and elderly voters.

There is no word yet on whether the swing state will appeal the decision.

Republican Businessman: “I Don’t Know Why Any Woman Would Vote For Romney.”

Retired Ohio businessman Wayne Butterfass says he’s voted Republican all his life, but can’t believe what he’s seeing this year in the Republican Party.

“Obama was handed an economy on the skids, after eight years of Bush,” Butterfass said in an email. “All he ever did was think about war. I’m afraid Romney will do the same, especially the trickle-down theory.

“I don’t know why any woman or gay would ever vote for Romney. All you have to do is look at the Republican platform. I’ve never seen such HATE this year in the Republican Party, national or state.”

As Sarah Jones notes at PoliticusUSA, “Wayne Butterfass is not alone is his disgust with his former party. According to Stan Greenberg, the Republican Party has lost 5 points in voter identification over the past month. He writes, ‘Contempt for the Republicans is pushing Democrats into the lead, not only in the presidential race but across Senate and likely many House races as well’.”

A Highly-Favored Republican Voice Wants to Increase The Voting Age

Republicans are doing all they can to suppress and in some cases, take away the voting rights of ordinary Americans. Their latest efforts includes requiring voters IDs and a new low in Ohio, where a Republican led assault is on the way to reduce the amount of time voters in Democratic districts have to cast their ballots.

In some of these cases, the courts have ruled that these forms of suppression – or “maintaining the integrity of the voting process” as the Republicans have called it – are illegal and should not happen on American soil.

But now another voice considered highly favored in the Republican circle is trying to change the rules. Ann Coulter wants to increase the voting age.

According to a recent interview on Fox News, Mrs. Coulter said, “I think we ought to raise the voting age. You can’t drink until you’re 21. We don’t have a draft anymore. Why are we letting infants vote? Their brains aren’t fully formed.”

It’s just amazing that before Barack Obama won the 2008 election, there was no need to change anything. After 2008 however, Republicans have manufactured every conceivable reason to change the process in their favor.

Imagine two runners competing in a race and after the winner crosses the finish line, the loser claims victory because during the race he (the loser or today’s Republican party) decided that the last person to cross the finish line wins.

Side-note: Barack Obama overwhelmingly won the youth vote in 2008.

Republican Delegate “Highly Offended” By Presence of A Mexican Working At Epcot

During a trip to Epcot at Disneyworld, Pennsylvania delegate Mark Harris and his wife were shocked and offended to find a Mexican employee working at the amusement park’s American pavilion, which showcases the different cultures in the United States. According to the couple’s blog, Harris complained to staff that he was “highly offended” that a “person from Mexico” was working in the American pavilion when other nations’ pavilions were staffed by people from each respective country:

According to their website, “Mark and Irene are both pro‐life, believe marriage is between one man and one woman, are for open records and transparency, believe in very conservative principles and the Republican platform.”
