Ann Coulter – Nikki Haley “is an immigrant and does not understand America’s History” – Video

Today’s Republicans are not like yesterdays. Today’s Republicans think – among other things – that an American is someone born in the US of A (Ted Cruz is apparently the only exception), and that immigrants to this nation simply cannot understand what it truly means to be American. You can see that way of thinking in the way these Republicans act and you can hear it in the things they say.

Here is a perfect example. South Carolina governor Nikki Haley is a proud Republican (I don’t know why) and a pusher of everything Republican. But her name and the fact that she is of Indian decent have confused the Republican mouthpiece, Ann Coulter. Coulter appeared on Fox Business network and proclaimed that Haley, whose parents immigrated from India, cannot understand American history because, well, “she is an immigrant!”

“I’m appalled,” Coulter said, when talking about Haley’s decision to remove the confederate flag from certain locations in South Carolina, after the deaths of nine African-Americans at the hands of a racist. “I really like to like Nikki Haley since she is a Republican. On the other hand, she is an immigrant and does not understand America’s history.”

It should be noted that Nikki Haley was actually born in South Carolina and the last time I checked, South Carolina was part of the United States. But today’s Republicans don’t let simple facts get in the way of their hate for everything immigrant and their love for propaganda.

Gov. Nikki Haley Named ‘The Other Woman’ In South Carolina Divorce Proceedings

She is considered an up and rising star in the Republican party. The suggestion was even floated that Nikki Haley should have ran for the Republican nomination for presidency in 2012. So imagine the shock when this news broke that Nikki Haley – one of the Republicans’ chosen one – was listed as one of three “other women” in a divorce proceeding.

S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley is one of three “other women” named in a divorce lawsuit filed in Richland County, S.C. earlier this month.

According to court documents obtained exclusively by FITS, Jennifer Marchant – wife of prominent S.C. State House lobbyist Larry Marchant – is suing her husband for divorce on the grounds of infidelity.

One of the three women Marchant accuses her husband of cheating on her with? You guessed it … Haley.

“On or about June 2, 2010, (Larry Marchant) publicly admitted to having an affair with a woman well-known to the parties and the citizens of the State of South Carolina,” the lawsuit reads. “(Jennifer Marchant) was humiliated and embarrassed by (her husband’s) public admission and was unable to appear in public for some time. Eventually, (Jennifer) conditionally forgave (Larry)’s adulterous behavior.”

Damn …

The lawsuit was filed in Richland County family court on February 6 . A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on February 20.

Marchant submitted an affidavit in October 2010 – swearing that he and Haley had a one night stand in Salt Lake City, Utah in June 2008.

Haley categorically denied Marchant’s claim. In fact she said Marchant was unable to prove the two of them were ever alone together on the Salt Lake City trip.

“We’ve had representatives go on the record that said we were in a group setting all the time,” Haley told former Columbia, S.C. radio host Keven Cohen at the time.

Other sources who went on the Salt Lake City trip have disputed Haley’s claim, however.

“They left the W lounge together,” one of these sources confirmed to FITS, referring to a dance club located three blocks away from the Marriott hotel where the South Carolina delegation was staying.

Nikki Haley – “Women Don’t Care about Contraception”

Appearing today on The View, Nikki Haley – the Republican governor of South Carolina – did her best to promote her new book, Can’t Is Not An Option, but managed instead to somehow continue the Republican war on women. Haley, considered a future star in the Republican party, informed the women of the view that women in general do not care about contraception.

“Women don’t care about contraception,” Haley said, “they care about jobs and their families…” She was cut off by Joy Behar, who bristled along with the rest of the panel and noted that women should care about contraception. “The media cares about contraception,” Haley tried again, and then concluded that while women might care about contraception, they just want to be able to make those decisions themselves, without government involvement.

Interesting position for a female Republican governor!

Judge Slams Break On Nikki Haley’s Voter Suppression Law

Since winning the House of Representatives in November 2010, Republicans have been on a rampage trying all they could to suppress the votes of minorities throughout the United States. Republicans would have you believe that voter fraud is crippling our political process, and they are the only ones with the willingness and ability to fix it.

If you listen to the Republican logic, you will believe that on election day, millions of dead people come back to life and vote for Democrats. So to solve this dilemma, Republicans governors across the nation began implementing various forms of voter ID laws.

But the facts show a different story.

A recent Washington Post article found that “prosecutable cases of voter fraud are rare.” The report said that in Ohio for example, out of 9 million votes cast in the 2002 and 2004 elections, only 4 cases of voter fraud were reported. And “from 2002 to 2005, the Justice Department found only five people were convicted for voting multiple times.”

But what about on the national scene, the voter ID fraud cases must be ridiculously rampant, right? Well you’d be wrong to think that too. Another report, this time by the New York Times found that during the first five years of the Bush crackdown on voter fraud, from 2002 to 2007,  “about 120 people have been charged and 86 convicted” nationwide.

This is just a manufactured issue by Republicans claiming that we are under attack by  illegitimate voters from beyond the grave. That’s just not the case and these Republican governors know it. What they are actually trying to do, is suppress the minority votes for the 2012 election.

So we take pleasure in reporting what this judge did in South Carolina – putting the brakes on Gov. Nikki Haley’s voter ID law.

The U.S. Justice Department has blocked South Carolina’s controversial voter ID law, saying it would prevent black people from voting.

It was the first voter ID law to be refused by the federal agency in nearly 20 years.

The decision means voters will not have to show a Department of Motor Vehicles-issued driver’s license or photo ID card, a U.S. military ID or a U.S. passport. And it means the state, which says it plans to appeal the decision in court, will spend time and taxpayer dollars on the second such lawsuit during Gov. Nikki Haley’s term.

Mitt Is It

I’ve said it before. And it is now painfully apparent that Republican primary voters have cycled through almost every candidate who’s running for the nomination, and they will eventually settle on Mitt. Yes, it’s possible for Jon Huntsman to have his bump, although even if he doubled his support he’d only be polling at 4%. Rick Santorum? Again, it’s possible, but just how is he different from Rick Perry? Or, perhaps more importantly, how is he the same as Rick Perry? Here’s how: both will lose.

And Mitt? Well, he just picked up the endorsement of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, which solidifies his position in an important southern state that votes in January, even though Haley’s support is causing her problems with the local Tea Party voters.

But how do we really know that Romney is heading towards the nomination?

Intrade. That’s right. The online trading market and prediction website showed that Mitt gained almost 10 points overnight, while Newt’s number plummeted from 38 to 18. Note to Newt: When the capitalists are bailing on you, it’s time to lobby for an ambassadorship to an island with hefty security. Even worse, he’s now behind Herman Cain(!). Ouch. Of course, these numbers could change tomorrow, but I wouldn’t expect a dramatic turnaround for any of the candidates in the field.

Romney might not win the Iowa caucuses and it won’t hurt him unless he falls to fourth place. He’ll win in New Hampshire, and by then a few of the candidates will have dropped out and thrown their support behind “the eventual nominee'” who will be Romney. Conservatives will have to either grin and bear him or stay home on election day, but that will only help Barack Obama, and we all know that helping the president is just not in the GOP’s DNA.

It might be February before Gingrich’s campaign issues a DNR order, but that day will come, sooner rather than later. Then the real campaign can begin.

Republicans Kick Ass… Their Own. What’s A Newt To Do?

Before he even got started, it seems that the Republican presidential campaign of Newt, the always-talking-never-thinking, Gingrich might be almost over. And the ones pushing on Newt to leave the race are not the expected political enemies in the Democratic party, oh nooo! The Republicans are the ones kicking Newt’s butt.

It all began when Newt appeared on Sunday’s Meet The Press and called the Republican Paul Ryan a radical, and suggested that Ryan’s budget plan will kill Medicare and transfer middle class wealth to the top 1%. Of course, Gingrich was right, but hearing one of their own speak the truth is not something the Republican party is accustomed to. So since Sunday, Mr. Gingrich has been thrown under the bus by Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and the congressional Republican leaders in Washington. Newt’s exact words when asked to describe his feelings about Ryan’s budget plan?

“I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering. I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”

Appearing on Laura Ingram’s show the following day was the right winged radical himself – Paul Ryan. While explaining his excuse for a budget plan if elected, Ryan was asked to respond to Gingrich’s Meet The Press interview. “With allies like that, who needs the left?” Ryan fired back, and the ass-kicking officially began.

Limbaugh:

“I am not going to justify this. I am not going to explain it. “The attack on Paul Ryan, the support for an individual mandate in healthcare?  Folks, don’t ask me to explain this. There is no explanation! What do you mean, ‘If I don’t explain it, who will?’  There is no explanation for it.

“First off, it cuts Paul Ryan off at the knees. It supports the Obama administration in the lawsuits that 26 states have filed over the mandate. I guess, what?  Back in 1993, Newt supported an individual mandate, everybody should buy insurance. I am as befuddled as anyone else is what I’m telling you.”

And being the Republican leader that he is, the talking points were sent out immediately- Rush is against Newt, so Newt must be wrong. The word spread fast, as other conservative media outlets picked up on Limbaugh’s rantings. The story got out to their audience and they too began their attacks.

At a campaign stop in Iowa, Newt was greeted by one of his republican supporters;

IOWA REPUBLICAN: What you just did to Paul Ryan is unforgivable.

GINGRICH: I didn’t do anything to Paul Ryan.

IOWA REPUBLICAN: Yes, you did. You undercut him … you’re an embarrassment to our party.

GINGRICH: I’m sorry you feel that way.

IOWA REPUBLICAN: Why don’t you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself?

The pressure was too much for Gringrich, so like any other potential commander-in-chief, like any other potential leader of the free world, like any other man vying for the job to be the most influential person on the face of the earth – the President Of The United States – Newt Gingrich flipped-flopped and tried to tell the nation that the words from his mouth must not be taken seriously. He really didn’t mean what he said and that was his final answer! He tells Greta Van Susteren of Fox News;

So, let me say on the record: any ad which quotes what I said Sunday is a falsehood and because I have said publicly, those words were inaccurate and unfortunate. And I’m prepared to stand up — when I make a mistake and I’m going to on occasion, I want to stand up and share with the American people, that was a mistake, because that way, we can have an honest conversation.

And with his supporters behind him, their shoes up the seat of his pants, Newt offered apologies to Paul Ryan and any other unnecessary GOPers who would give him the time of day.

Nikki Haley, the powerful Republican governor in South Carolina told CNN in a telephone interview just how disappointed she was in Gingrich;

“What he said was absolutely unfortunate. Here you’ve got Representative Ryan trying to bring common sense to this world of insanity, and Newt absolutely cut him off at the knees.

“When you have a conservative fighting for real change, the last thing we need is a presidential candidate cutting him off at the knees.”

Then this -popularl syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer  suggests that Newt pack up and go home, telling Fox that Newt “didn’t have a big chance in the beginning, but now it’s over!”
