Donald Trump Sues Univision for $500 Million

If Donald Trump is not a racist, he definitely has racist tendencies. That may explain why he said those racist things about Mexican people causing Univision to cut ties with him and the Miss USA Pageant. But in addition to his racist tendencies, Trump is sometimes a sore loser, and has filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision over the network’s decision to cut ties with the Miss USA pageant.

The Blaze reports that Univision, which was under contract to air the pageant live in Spanish, said it would no longer do so after Trump’s controversial comments on those illegally entering the USA from Mexico.

Trump, however, contested Univision’s claim, contending the network’s move was really aimed at silencing his freedom of speech as he begins his presidential campaign. Trump said in a statement that nothing he has said was different from what he has been saying for “many years.”

“I want strong borders, and I do not support or condone illegal immigration,” Trump said. “There is a high level of crime occurring in this country due to unchecked illegal immigration. This is a major security issue for the United States.”

“Additionally, the terrible trade deals our government is routinely entering into with Mexico are causing great financial harm to our country,” he continued. “We are losing a huge number of jobs, manufacturing opportunities and money due to poorly negotiated trade deals, a fact that is indisputable. That won’t happen if I become president – this disturbing trend will end and it will end quickly.”

Trump said that he has “great respect for Mexico and love for the Mexican people,” contending his comments have been manipulated by the media to frame him as a racist.

Figueroa was quickly fired in response, according to NBC News.

The New Mitt Romney Controversy – Bussing In Supporters To Univision Event

According to Buzzfeed, Mitt Romney’s recent appearance at the Univision event had some issues. The report quotes Maria Salinas, one of the anchors at the event that catered mainly to the Spanish-speaking audience, where she explained that a special exemption to the rules had to be made before Romney came onstage.

Buzzfeed reports that the event that featured a student audience but Romney had problems filling the seats, so he was allowed to bus in “rowdy activists” supporters from other parts of the state.

(Maria Elena) Salinas told BuzzFeed that tickets for each forum were divided between the network, the respective campaigns, and the University of Miami (which hosted the events) — and she said both campaigns initially agreed to keep the audience comprised mostly of students, in keeping with the events’ education theme.

But after exhausting the few conservative groups on campus, the Romney camp realized there weren’t enough sympathetic students to fill the stands on their night — so they told the network and university that if they weren’t given an exemption to the students-only rule, they might have to “reschedule.”

…Romney’s team was allowed to bus in rowdy activists from around southern Florida in order to fill the extra seats at their town hall.

And according to the report, Romney was not happy with the reception he received when introduced, and demanded redoing his introduction with a more appreciating audience. Ms Salinas was shocked. “It was a very awkward moment, believe me.”

Bringing in his own supporters for an event is nothing new to Mitt Romney. He was also accused of flying in supporters when he spoke to at an event hosted by the NAACP back in July.

Mitt Romney’s “Oops” Moment – Now Says He’s For 100% of Americans

Can you say a Rick Perry “Oops?”

After showing his true colors in what he thought was a private gathering with his millionaire friends, where Mitt Romney expressed that 47% of Americans consider themselves “victims” who depend on the government for food, clothing and shelter and lack the ambition to “take care of themselves,” Mitt Romney is now changing his tune and he is hoping the American people are too slow to notice.

At an appearance on a Spanish network on Univision, the Republican presidential nominee is now quoting another number – 100%

“My campaign is about the 100% of America,” he said.

Romney also tried to put a different spin on what he said about the 47%. He explained;

“I know that I’m not going to get 100% of the vote and my campaign will focus on those people we think we can bring in to support, but this is a campaign about helping people who need help.”

ABC News noted Romney stressed the number three times in the first 10 minutes of the candidates forum.

President Obama Talks About His Republican Challengers

In an interview with Univision, President Obama spoke briefly in response to the question of who he would rather go up against in the 2012 general election.

“I don’t really think about that,” Obama said in response to a question about who would be more of a threat in an interview with Univision conducted Wednesday night in Chandler, Ariz., and released Thursday morning. “What I can say is this: That whoever their nominee is, they represent ideas that I think are wrong for America.”

“On a whole range of issues I think that whether it’s Mr. Romney or Mr. Gingrich or Mr. Santorum or whoever else they might decide to select, they represent a fundamentally different vision of America. And it’s not the bold generous forward looking optimistic America that I think built this country,” he added.

The interview was Obama’s first since delivering his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, and comes as the Republican presidential candidates are stepping up their appeals to Hispanic voters ahead of next week’s Florida primary. Speaking to one of the top U.S. Spanish-language news outlets, Obama offered his own appeals, noting his efforts to make immigration laws more favorable to immigrants even without the comprehensive reform he’s repeatedly called for.

Five Republican Presidential Candidates Withdraw From Univision Debate

Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry all pulled their names from a debate sponsored by the Spanish language network Univision. Their reasoning falls right in line with what would be expected from a 3rd grader – they didn’t like the way Univision handled a story concerning fellow Republican Marco Rubio’s brother-in-law, so these five requested their names be removed from the debate.

Seriously…!

According to reporting by CNN, the five are claiming that Univision had a story about Rubio’s brother-in-law’s drug conviction, and told Mr. Rubio that they would not broadcast the story if Rubio agreed to appear on “Al Punto,” (Univision News program.) Universion has denied this claim, calling it “absurd” and according to Isasc Lee, President of Univision News;

 “Univision did not offer to soften or ignore the report about an anti-drug raid that involved the family of Sen. Rubio. We would never make such an offer with any protagonist in a news report and we did not make an offer in this case.”

But that statement was already too late. The Fab Five had already based their decision to withdraw their names on zero facts and that was all they needed.

It is hard to believe that these five Republican presidential candidates would prefer listening to unfounded rumors, instead of meeting and answering the questions important to the Spanish community. Well, maybe not hard to believe… we are talking about Republicans here.
