Mitt Romney Cannot Explain How He Will Pay for $5 Trillion More in Tax Cuts for Rich People

Rich people were rich before George Bush decided to give them trillions in two massive tax cut. The idea back then was that giving rich people more money would automatically result in the middle class and the poor getting more jobs. The idea was not a new concept, it was also tried over 30 years ago in the Reagan administration, thus bearing the name Reaganomics also known as Trickle-Down Economics. But all Mr. Bush succeeded in doing was a huge transfer of wealth from middle class America to the rich. And the country plunged into a massive recession comparable to the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

So naturally, Mitt Romney’s goal is to try the same tactics Bush failed at if he become president.

Mitt Romney is promising to extend the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy, in hopes that history would not repeat. His hope is under a Romney administration, wealthy Americans earning millions and billions of dollars would see the light and hire more people. Americans already lived through this disaster, but Romney is promising to do it all again.

In an interview with Bob Schieffer which aired on CBS, Romney was asked to explain how he plan to pay for yet another colossal tax cut to people who don’t need it. His answer basically amounted to – I don’t know how I’ll pay for it, but just trust me.

SCHIEFFER: You haven’t been bashful about telling us yo want to cut taxes. When are you going to tell us where you’re going to get the revenue? Which of the deductions are you going to be willing to eliminate? Which of the tax credits are you going to — when are you going to be able to tell us that?

ROMNEY: Well, we’ll go through that process with Congress as to which of all the different deductions and the exemptions —

SCHIEFFER: But do you have an ideas now, like the home mortgage interest deduction, you know, the various ones?

ROMNEY: Well Simpson Bowles went though a process of saying how they would be able to reach a setting where they had actually under their proposal even more revenue, with lower rates. So, mathematically it’s been proved to be possible: We can have lower rates, as I propose, that creates more growth, and we can limit deductions and exemptions.

Mitt Romney Supports Insurance Companies Denying Coverage to People With Pre-Existing Condition

To put things in perspective, Mitt Romney implemented ObamaCare in Massachusetts. Okay, it wasn’t called ObamaCare when Mitt Romney fell in love with the idea that everyone in the state he governed should have access to quality Health Care and included an individual mandate requiring all to buy insurance. No, ObamaCare wasn’t around at that time, so the bill was called The Massachusetts health care insurance reform law.

The main part of Romney’s law was an individual mandate that required all state residents to get insurance. The goal of the mandate was to make it financially feasible for insurance providers to be able to cover everyone, even those with pre-existing conditions. Romney loved the idea of the mandate so much, he even called for its implementation nationwide. His Health Care reform Law went into effect in Massachusetts 2006.

Now Mitt Romney is running for President of the United States and he is promising to repeal the very Health Care Law he once said should be replicated nationwide. Mr. Romney took this very different position because the individual mandate is not popular with Teaparty members of his party. Now that the President took Romney’s word and signed a bill that duplicates the Massachusetts model, offering the Health Care nationwide, Romney is promising to repeal and replace what is now called ObamaCare.

But what will Mitt Romney replace ObamaCare with?

Based on what he said earlier this month, Romney’s new-found vision of Health Care in America will not include an individual mandate and those who have a  pre-existing condition but couldn’t afford “continuous” insurance, will not have health care.

So let’s say someone has been continuously insured and they develop a serious condition. And let’s say they lose their jobs or they change jobs or they move and go to a different place, I don’t want them to be denied insurance because they have some pre-existing conditions. So we’re going to have to make sure that the law that we replace Obamacare with,ensures that people who have a pre-existing condition, who have been insured in the past, are able to get insurance in the future so they don’t have to worry about that condition keeping them from getting the kind of health care they deserve.

So the short version of what Mitt Romney is saying is this: if you have a pre-existing condition and couldn’t afford continuous health care coverage, don’t even bother trying to get insurance. Under Mitt Romney’s plan, you’re back to a system where healthcare insurance providers are allowed to drop your coverage based on your pre-existing condition.

John McCain Says Foreign Money Going to Romney’s Campaign

Senator and Romney presidential campaign surrogate John McCain (R-AZ) said Thursday that casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is indirectly injecting millions of dollar in Chinese “foreign money” into Mitt Romney‘s presidential election effort.

“Much of Mr. Adelson’s casino profits that go to him come from his casino in Macau, which says that obviously, maybe in a roundabout way foreign money is coming into an American political campaign,” McCain said in an interview on PBS’s News Hour.

“That is a great deal of money, and we need a level playing field and we need to go back to the realization… that we have to have a limit on the flow of money and corporations are not people,” he said.

Adelson announced Thursday he would be giving $10 million to the pro-Romney Super PACRestore Our Future, and reports stated his future contributions to pro-Romney groups could be “limitless.”

Mike Huckabee: His talents are best used elsewhere
Why he’s in the veepstakes: Huckabee is already a household name, thanks to his 2008 run for president and subsequent Fox News show, and he’s popular with social conservatives and right-leaning economic populists. He’s also an ordained Baptist minister with a sunny public disposition.

Why he won’t be chosen: “I think there’s a greater likelihood that I’ll be asked by Madonna to go on tour as her bass player than I’ll be picked to be on the ticket,” Huckabee told ABC News on June 10.

2. Jeb Bush: Not interested in toeing the party line
Why he’s in the veepstakes: The former Florida governor, and younger scion of the Bush clan, is a Republican’s Republican, a uniting figure who can bring together different factions of the GOP — and could help Romney win Florida.

Why he won’t be chosen: Being Romney’s running mate is “not in the cards for me,” Bush told ABC News on June 1. “I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this. I have been repeating it for the last two years. I’ve been pretty consistent…. I am not a candidate. I’m not going to be asked…. This will prove I’m not running for anything: If you could bring to me a majority of people to say that we are going to have $10 of spending cuts for $1 of revenue enhancement, put me in, coach.”

Three, four, five, six, seven years from now, if I do a good job as vice president — I’m sorry, if I do a good job as a senator instead of a vice president, I’ll have a chance to do all sorts of things, including commissioner of the NFL, which is where the real power is.”

Why he won’t be chosen: “Do I look like somebody’s vice president?” the famously portly Christie said at a December 2011 Romney rally in Iowa. “If you were a betting woman, I wouldn’t bet on Romney-Christie. I wouldn’t lay any money on that.”

How to Purchase a Presidency – Mittens Gets a Huge Donation

Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is pumping $10 million into an outside group supporting GOP presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, the Associated Press and other news outlets report.

Adelson’s donation went to Restore Our Future, which has run ads to support Romney’s campaign and attack his opponents, the AP reports, citing anonymous sources. Charles Spies, Restore Our Future’s treasurer, declined to comment on donors. Adelson spokesman Ron Reese did not return telephone calls.

The donation is the latest sign deep-pocketed Republican donors are prepared to spend heavily to defeat President Obama through independent groups that can raise and spend unlimited amounts. Restore Our Future, a super PAC run by former Romney campaign aides, has collected $56.5 million between Jan. 1, 2011 and April 30 of this year, more than five times the amount raised by Priorities USA Action, a pro-Obama super PAC.

Doubling Down on Stupidity Is The Romney Way

I have a sinking suspicion that Romney believes voters aren’t terribly bright.

The main problem with Romney’s new line is that it doesn’t make any sense. “The federal government doesn’t pay for teachers, firefighters or policemen”? Well, actually, the federal government can provide resources to states and municipalities to either hire new teachers and first responders, or prevent layoffs that would otherwise be made. If Washington would do this, we’d see an immediate drop in the unemployment rate, but Republicans refuse to even consider the idea.

What’s more, when Romney says President Obama’s “new idea … didn’t work the first time,” that’s the exact opposite of reality. Obama’s new idea isn’t exactly new — the last three Republican presidents strengthened the national economy through public-sector hiring— and it worked perfectly when Obama protected these jobs in 2009. Here’s a possible follow-up question for Romney: when you say public-sector hiring didn’t work the first time, what in the world are you talking about?

And finally, Romney’s position from Friday hasn’t changed. He sees President Obama fighting for school teachers, police officers, and firefighters, and Romney’s still convinced the economy will be better off if those teachers and first responders are unemployed.

That’s not “completely absurd”; that’s just Romney’s stated position.

New Poll Gives Mitt Romney The Lead Against President In North Carolina

What are these people thinking, or are they even thinking? The same Mitt Romney who is promising to cut jobs if he becomes president is leading in North Carolina.

PPP’s newest North Carolina poll finds Mitt Romney leading Barack Obama 48-46. It’s a small lead but still significant in that it’s the first time we’ve found Romney ahead in our monthly polling of the state since October.

Romney’s gained 7 points on Obama in North Carolina since April, when the President led by a 49-44 margin. Since then Romney’s erased what was a 51-38 lead for Obama with independents and taken a 42-41 lead with that voting group. He’s also increased his share of the Democratic vote from 15% to 20%, suggesting he’s convincing some more conservative voters within the party to cross over.

Voters in the state have significantly warmed up to Romney in the couple of months since he sewed up the Republican nomination. 41% of voters have a favorable opinion of him to 46% with a negative one. Those numbers still aren’t great but they represent a 24 point improvement on the margin from April when Romney was at a -29 spread (29/58).

As it turns out, there is something Mitt Romney stands by. Something he is known for and he apparently will not change and that is, Mitt Romney is a liar who continues to lie even after the truth is point out to him. Fact-checking means nothing to Mr. Romney, as he just brushes off the facts and continues lying anyway.

When he lose the election in 2012, Mitt Romney will do well as a political pundit at Fox News.

Mitt Romney – Let’s Cut The Jobs of Police, Firefighters And Teachers

This is truly a tale of two very different candidates and the future of this nation has never hung in the balance as it does now. America will move forward or backward, depending on who wins the White House in November.

Take for example President Obama and his recent statement that the Private Sector is “doing fine.” Republicans and Mitt Romney zeroed in on the President’s statement and are now trying to pull the proverbial  wool over the eyes of the American people. Republicans want you to believe that the Private Sector is not doing fine. But when you take the President’s full statement in context, you’ll get the full truth of what he said.

“We’ve created 4.3 million jobs over the last…27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone. The private sector is doing fine. Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government, oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don’t have the same kind of flexibility of the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.”

Anyone with a thread of common sense will tell you that Mr. Obama is correct. The Private Sector is doing fine – trillions in profits and millions hired since Obama took office. The problem the economy is facing now has more to do with the Public Sector and the ease with which state governors are laying off public workers like police officers, firefighters and teachers.

Mitt Romney couldn’t wait to jump on the criticize Obama bandwagon. But in his haste to take the President’s statement out of context and focus only on “…the private sector is doing fine” phrase, Romney unknowingly allowed the American people to take a ‘peek’ at his true intentions – to kill the jobs of police officers, firefighters, teachers and other public sector employees.

Said Romney;

He says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.

So a President who wants to get firemen, policemen and teachers back to work and a Republican candidate who think the message of Wisconsin is to cut the jobs of firemen, policemen and teachers.

Yes, this is truly a tale of two very different candidates and the future of this nation hangs in the balance.

Mitt Romney Is A Liar – Here’s Even More Proof

A couple weeks ago, Mitt Romney quoted Noam Scheiber’s book about the Obama administration’s economic rescue, The Escape Artists, in a highly misleading way. Yesterday he did it again, only this time Romney altered his description so that whatever shred of truth that once existed in his telling is gone, and nothing remains but a pack of lies. Here’s Romney’s incredibly false account:

A book that was written in a way that’s apparently pro-President Obama, was written by a guy named Noam Scheiber and in this book he says that there was a discussion about the fact that Obamacare would slow down the economic recovery in this country and they knew that before they passed it.  But they concluded that we would all forget how long the recovery took once it had happened, so they decided to go ahead.  The idea that they knowingly slowed down our recovery in order to put in place Obamacare, which they wanted and they considered historic but the American people did not want or consider historic, is something which I think deserves a lot of explaining …

The lies. Let us tote them up.

First, and most importantly, at no point did anybody in the Obama administration ever believe that passing the Affordable Care Act would “slow down the recovery.” Nothing close to that is ever described. Romney presents the book as revealing that Obama believed health-care reform, through its “big gummint” regulations, would harm the recovery, but cackling that he wanted to pass it out of some belief that Americans wouldn’t notice mass economic suffering. This bears no relationship to anything the book says.

In the book, Noam Scheiber asked Larry Summers if he believed that the decision to pass health-care reform cost Obama the chance to pass a second stimulus, and thus came at the cost of a faster recovery. Summers answered that he did not think the health-care law prevented a second stimulus, but that even if that were the case, he would have supported it anyway.

Not only is it false for Romney to say Obama “knowingly slowed down our recovery,” it’s not even true that Obama knowingly passed up a chance to accelerate the recovery. The notion that anybody in the administration believed that the health-care law would actually slow down the recovery is complete fiction. It does not appear in the book anywhere and it’s pretty obviously untrue.

Freakshow Mitt Romney and His Uniform Fetish

When Mitt Romney was a college freshman, he told fellow residents of his Stanford University dormitory that he sometimes disguised himself as a police officer – a crime in many states, including Michigan and California, where he then lived. And he had the uniform on display as proof.

So recalls Robin Madden, who had also just arrived as a freshman, the startling incident began when Romney called him and two or three other residents into his room, saying, “Come up, I want to show you something.” When they entered Romney’s room, “and laid out on his bed was a Michigan State Trooper’s uniform.”

Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over the years as he observed his former classmate’s political ascent. The National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to whom he had mentioned it years ago.

Said Madden in a recent interview, “He told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father,” George Romney, then the Governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. “He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler.”
