Sleeping Fan Sues NY Yankees and ESPN for Defamation

The moral of this story – be careful if who you make fun of at a Yankees game. You just might get sued for $10 million.

A man caught on camera snoozing at a Yankees game last month is suing ESPN, the New York Yankees, and announcers Dan Shulman and John Kruk, court documents said.

Andrew Rector is asking for $10 million for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress because of comments made to millions of viewers during the live telecast of the April 13 Yankees vs. Red Sox game.

According to the lawsuit filed in New York, the Rector claimed he was show in a false light, that his reputation was damaged and it was no one’s business if he was napping.

The lawsuit claimed the announcers insinuated Rector is “stupid”, “not worthy to be a fan”, “a fatty cow that needs two seats at all times”, and “socially bankrupt.”

Rick Perry Snubs Obama – Refuse To Shake President’s Hand on Tarmac

President Obama invited Rick Perry to meet him at the airport in Austin Texas, but Perry apparently had better things to do. Politicking.

In his refusal letter to the administration, Perry pointed out that he didn’t want a “quick handshake,” but instead, wants a “substantive meeting” to discuss the immigration issues in South Texas.

“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,” Perry wrote in a letter on Monday to the president, according to the Austin American-Statesman. “I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue. With the appropriate notice, I am willing to change my schedule to facilitate this request.”

This refusal to meet the president regardless of the reasoning will play beautifully in the conservative arena. And especially since Perry is considering a run for the White House in 2016, his diss of the president is sure to attract a few more votes.

Politicking.

Newspaper Headline – “The N*gger In The White House”

This is the headline one of the local papers here in New York, the WestView News, ran.

Now they claimed that this headline and the article that goes with it was actually written in support of the president, mocking the blatant racists who oppose the president simply because he is black. But to me that doesn’t matter. There are just certain things that should not be said and this is one of them.

What ever happened to common decency?

It’s Official – Thad Cochran Wins in Mississippi

The final results were turned over to the Secretary of State on Monday, and they showed Cochran winning the Republican primary by 7667 votes.

Meanwhile, his Teaparty challenger Chris McDaniel, is asking for a do over, claiming that some Mississippi residents voted illegally because they are registered Democrats. State rules do not prevent cross-party voting, but prohibits voting in both Democratic and Republican elections.

Cochran will face Democrat Travis Childers in the November midterm elections.

JOB CREATION UP, UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN BUT OBAMA STILL BLACK

As seen on America The Not So Beautiful

July 7, 2014

By Mike Caccioppoli

There is much controversy and ballyhoo over the headline “A Nigger In The White House” by a paper in Greenwich Village in NYC. It’s actually a pro-Obama article which makes the point I have made many times and will make again today. That there is much racism involved when it comes to the criticism of Obama. There is more talk about that headline than the problem the article lays out. This is commonplace from a media that loves sensationalism and hates those boring things known as facts.

This of course always plays right into the Republicans hands since they are a party and voters who love vitriol and despise facts. We don’t see headlines like “OBAMA CREATES JOBS, SLASHES UNEMPLOYMENT.” No instead we see “BOEHNER SUES OBAMA” and “REPUBLICANS CALL OBAMA DICTATOR” and of course the perpetual “BENGHAZI BENGHAZI BENGHAZI.”

So why don’t we see the factual headlines? Such as “OBAMA’S JOB NUMBERS LEAVING BUSH IN THE DUST” OR “OBAMA ISSUES FEWER EXECUTIVE ORDERS THAN BOTH REAGAN AND BUSH.” Because THOSE are facts. I mean jobs are important right? Here is a fact based column written by Michael Tomasky. It documents how Obama has a net gain of 4.5 million jobs so far. A 3 million job advantage over Bush. But that is “The Daily Beast.” In all due respects to that publication it isn’t the “NY Times” or “USA Today”. You won’t see that headline in those publications. Of course you won’t see it on Fox News or CNN either.

Now the media is certainly to blame. We can say that’s a reason why voters don’t know this information. Tomasky blames the media somewhat and also blames the Democrats themselves for not being louder about their accomplishments. He is right. But if the media doesn’t want to cover it the Democrats can do no better than yelling out their windows ala Peter Finch in “Network.”

The other reason, the one the paper in the Village spoke about, I think is the bigger problem. The inherent racism of the United States. Hey maybe the media is racist as well, because unlike corporations, the media ARE people. Before you go and tell me how a black guy won the Presidency twice and that proves there is no racism anymore I will explain how he won. He won because Obama’s people did a superb job of getting African-Americans out to vote. That would be his own people. There is also a good percentage of white racists with low IQ’s that don’t vote..at all. Oh they complain but they don’t vote.

Those people, the white racists do have cars, and driver’s licenses. They do get polled. And when they do it reflects on Obama’s overall approval rating. You need to ask yourself this…IF a Clinton or a Bush, had been creating jobs for 45 straight months and if a Clinton or a Bush had lowered unemployment, would they be struggling to get above 45-50 percent approval? I think anyone who is honest with themselves would say no.

If a Clinton or a Bush was consistently obstructed by the opposing party would it be they who would be having the popularity problem? We can blame the media but they almost always go with the negative headline over the positive. It didn’t just start with Obama. And the Republicans have always been loud mouthed obnoxious assholes while the Democrats have always been meek and unable to toot their own horn.

The only denominator that has changed is the race of the President. These lowbrow, lowlife racists are just too dumb and prejudiced to realize that he is creating jobs for THEM! Not for the rich, but for those who need them the most. He is improving THEIR lives by lowering the unemployment rate.

Obama has given THESE people health coverage, jobs, a steady check instead of unemployment which runs out fast because Republicans won’t extend it. Their kids, if they want to go to college will have less debt due to changes in student loans. I could go on and on about how he has been on THEIR side.

Yet it doesn’t matter. His economic numbers are crushing Bush. If it keeps going like this as Tomasky points out, he will get close to Reagan’s numbers. Doesn’t matter.

Bush and Reagan were white. Obama is still black.

Warriors Ex Coach Mark Jackson Preaching on The Street Corner – Video

Former NBA player and former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson, was captured on video Saturday preaching a street corner in Los Angeles. Jackson, a devote Christian brought his A game to the street corner, as he preached about Jesus with members of his congregation.

TMZ reports that the occasion was “World Vision Day,” which Jackson himself described as … “A call 4 every Believer 2 hit the Streets n Preach for 1 hr.”

The former player and coach was clearly in his element. I wouldn’t be surprised if the title “Reverend” comes next.

Jason Chaffetz Believes That Two-Time Loser Mitt Romney, Is Running For President

Chris Matthews of MSNBC actually made some news Monday night. He did not beat up on the president. And that in itself is amazing providing that of lately, the Hardball host has been on a personal vendetta it seems, to help bolster the Republican’s talking points.

Oh, and Matthews made another set of news. In an interview with Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz and Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings, Matthews asked Chaffetz his opinion on whether two-time loser Mitt Romney is running for president a third time. Chaffetz answered with no doubt in his mind that Mitt Romney is in deed, running!

Chaffetz even went as far as predicting that in 2016, the Flipper will be the next president of the United States.

12 Year Old New Jersey Girl Shot by Stray Bullet to be Taken Off Life Support

She was shot on Saturday and on Monday, the family makes the ultimate decision.

A 12-year-old girl is set to be taken off life support Monday after she was shot in the head while riding a scooter in northern New Jersey on Saturday night, police said.

Genesis Rincon was critically injured in the 8:40 p.m. shooting in Paterson and would not pull through, her family said from her bedside, where they were saying their goodbyes Sunday.

“They’re hurting, they’re in mourning, but they’re outraged,” a spokesman for the family Rev. Della Fischer, told CBS News York. “This is senseless.”

Little Genesis was walking with two other kids on Rosa Parks Boulevard when she was cut down by a stray bullet, police said.
The trio was heading back to a family party after making a run to a nearby store, which was closed.

Fox News’ Advice to Women – “Don’t talk too much” and Wear a “colorful top”

“Not to raise their voices” and not to talk too much. That ladies, is Fox’s advice to you. According to these brainiacs, keeping your mouths shut is the secret to success.

Fox News host and proud card carrying member if the Knuckle dragging community, Steve Doocy introduced Sylvia Ann Hewlett’s book, Executive Presence, by advising that women should wear “well-cut jeans with a colorful top,” while an on-screen graphic told them “not to raise their voices.”

Co-host Anna Kooiman, however, argued that “women shouldn’t be so focused on what we look like, and what we’re wearing, but what our mind can do.”

“Also a little thing that you think is important is your presentation and your voice,” co-host Brian Kilmeade added. “Keep it low, don’t speak loud.”

“For women,” Doocy emphasized.

Hewlett explained that a lot of women from the South were taught to “fill the air with words… but oftentimes that undermines you, just rambling.”

“Don’t talk too much,” Doocy recommended.

My Question – Who’s Suing @SpeakerBoehner and Republicans for Trampling the Constitution?

Republican House Speaker, John Boehner is busy putting Americans back to work and fighting for the middle class by writing articles on CNN. The House speaker op-ed writer explained why he is bringing suit against the president of the United States.

Every member of Congress swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So did President Barack Obama.

But too often over the past five years, the President has circumvented the American people and their elected representatives through executive action, changing and creating his own laws, and excusing himself from enforcing statutes he is sworn to uphold — at times even boasting about his willingness to do it, as if daring the American people to stop him.

That’s why, later this month, we will bring legislation to the House floor that would authorize the House of Representatives to file suit in an effort to compel President Obama to follow his oath of office and faithfully execute the laws of our country.

Got that? Boehner is suing the president for apparently using the fewest Executive Orders, for overseeing an economy where over 9 million private sector jobs were created over the last 52 consecutive months and an unemployment rate of 6.1%. Oh yea, a stock market in record territory!

My question is this, who’s bringing suit against Boehner and the Republican party of NO for putting their hate of the president over their constitutional responsibilities? That’s the lawsuit I’m waiting for.

4th of July Business as Usual in Chicago – 60 People Shot, 9 Killed

While the rest if the nation celebrated America’s independence, Chicago residents were busy doing what they are slowly becoming known for – shooting each other. The holiday weekend left 60 people shot, 9 killed.

The first fatal shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, kicking the weekend off to a violent start. Corey Hudson, 34, was killed in a drive-by shooting. Hudson was fatally shot, while his friend was left wounded. There were also three police-involved shootings on July 4th alone, leaving one suspect dead.
While the soaring violence in Chicago is no new issue, the city has been working to actively combat and reduce gun violence in recent years – especially after one of its bloodiest years in 2012, when Chicago was the only city in the country to record over 500 homicides.

“We will keep building on our strategy, putting more officers on the street in summer months, proactively intervening in gang conflicts, partnering with community leaders,” Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said in a statement.

To bring down the murder rate, police have been dispatched by the hundreds to some of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods. Although this strategy appeared to be working in 2013 when homicides fell to 415, Chicago still had one of the highest murder rates in the country.

The Chicago Tribune updated its tally of shootings in the Windy City to 1,129 so far for this year. But it’s still less than 2013, which saw over 2,000 shootings

Republican Appointed Judge to Supreme Court – “STFU!”

Judge Richard Kopf

Federal Judge Richard Kopf, who was appointed to a U.S. District Court in Nebraska by George H.W. Bush, slammed the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision in his personal blog, Hercules and the Umpire, and told the judges to “stfu.”

He said that the court’s ruling looked bad, as the majority opinion was signed on to by five male, Catholic judges appointed by a Republican president.

“To the average person, the result looks stupid and smells worse,” he wrote. “The decision looks misogynist because the majority were all men. It looks partisan because all were appointed by a Republican. The decision looks religiously motivated because each member of the majority belongs to the Catholic church, and that religious organization is opposed to contraception.”

Kopf argued that the Supreme Court should have left the case alone, and should stay far away from controversial issues.

“Next term is the time for the Supreme Court to go quiescent–this term and several past terms has proven that the Court is now causing more harm (division) to our democracy than good by deciding hot button cases that the Court has the power to avoid. As the kids says [sic], it is time for the Court to stfu,” he wrote.
