Unemployment Falls to 4.9% – 73 Consecutive Months of Job Growth

If you listen to Trump and his Republican party, you would think the United States of America is worse than a third world country. Yes, there is always room for progress, but considering the most recent economic report, things are not as bad as they would have you believe.

The economy added 161,000 jobs in October, a solid gain, suggesting it is maintaining its healthy and steady pace.

Jobs added during the previous month were also revised up substantially by the Labor Department. It is the last look at the health of the economy for Americans voters before they cast their ballots next week.

Unemployment fell a tick to 4.9%. That’s down by half since 2009, when unemployment peaked at 10%.

October’s gains marked the 73rd consecutive month of job gains for the U.S. economy.

Another Positive Jobs Report for December – 292,000 Jobs Created

Unemployment Drops to 5% with 271,000 Jobs Added in October

And the positive economic growth continues, regardless of what the Republicans say.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday that nonfarm payrolls grew 271,000 for the month, a sharp jump from weak August and September numbers. The headline unemployment rate declined to 5.0 percent, declining even as the civilian labor force increased by 313,000.

A broader measure of unemployment that includes those who have stopped looking as well as those working part time for economic reasons declined to 9.8 percent, the first time it’s been below 10 percent since May 2008.

Perhaps more important than the headline number was the growth in average hourly earnings, which jumped 9 cents, representing a monthly gain of 0.6 percent and an annualized increase of 2.5 percent. The average work week remained at 34.5 hours.

Unemployment Rate Down to 5.3% – A 7 Year Low

Newly released reports state that the labor market added 223,000 jobs last month, making this the lowest the unemployment rate has been in 7 years.

The unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent, the lowest mark in seven years, but the decline reflected a wave of Americans who either retired or abandoned their job hunts.

The latest jobs data from the Department of Labor comes amid a spike in global economic volatility, the result of high-wire negotiations between a near-bankrupt Greece and its European creditors. Though the United States faces little risk from the chaos across the Atlantic, its own economy is fighting through a soft spot after an encouraging period of growth in 2014.

Thursday’s numbers point “to an economic recovery that is good, but not good enough,” Bill Spriggs, a chief economist at the AFL-CIO, wrote in an e-mail.

More Jobs Created, Unemployment rate at 5.4% – Republicans, they Mad

A new jobs report for April and more evidence that the policies of president Obama are working.

As per this new report, there have been over 12.3 million private sector jobs added to the economy since this president took office, and April marked the 62nd straight month of positive jobs growth, adding 223,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate is reflecting all this positive growth, falling to 5.4% – the lowest since May of 2008.

Republicans can’t be too happy. They have sat on their hands for Obama’s entire presidency, hoping to make his presidency fail. But give them time, they’ll figure out a way to see this positive information as negative.

February Job Gains – Unemployment Rate Falls to 5.5%

Some (Republicans) will look high and low to find a way to criticize this report,  but no matter what they say, this is good news.

U.S. employers extended a healthy streak of hiring in February by adding 295,000 jobs, the 12th straight monthly gain above 200,000.

The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent from 5.7 percent. But the decline in the rate occurred mainly because some people out of work stopped looking for jobs and were no longer counted as unemployed.

The strong job gains weren’t enough to boost wages by much. The average hourly wage rose just 3 cents in February to $24.78 an hour.

Still, over the past 12 months, 3.3 million more Americans have gotten jobs. More jobs and lower gas prices have led many consumers to step up spending. That’s boosting the economy, offsetting sluggish economies overseas and giving employers the confidence to hire.

January Jobs Figure – 257,000 Jobs Added, Wages Jump to 6 Year High

More jobs added to the U.S economy in January, more people making more money.

U.S. employers added a vigorous 257,000 jobs in January, and wages jumped by the most in six years — evidence that the job market is accelerating closer to full health

The surprisingly robust report the government issued Friday also showed that hiring was far stronger in November and December than it had previously estimated. Employers added 414,000 jobs in November — the most in 17 years. Job growth in December was revised sharply up to 329,000 from 252,000.

Average hourly wages soared 12 cents in January to $24.75, the sharpest gain since 2008. Over the past 12 months, hourly pay, which has long been stagnant, has now risen 2.2 percent. That is ahead of inflation, which rose just 0.7 percent in 2014.

The unemployment rate last month rose to 5.7 percent from 5.6 percent. But that occurred for a good reason: More than 1 million Americans — the most since January 2000 — began looking for jobs, though not all of them found work, and their numbers swelled the number of people counted as unemployed. An influx of job hunters suggests that Americans have grown more confident about their prospects.

Nancy Pelosi’s Statement Praising the 5.6% Unemployment Rate

Hey, Mitch McConnell went on the Senate floor and lied to the world that  he and the Republicans are responsible for the economic growth. Yes, he was lying, but he is a Republican so lying is expected.

But if Mitch can lie about something he did not do, why can’t one of the people responsible for the economic recovery speak up and acknowledged that positive growth?

President Obama has been doing just that and now Nancy Pelosi is doing the same.

After the report today that the unemployment rate fell to 5.6 percent, Pelosi issues this statement.

“Last month, our economy added another exclamation point to the longest uninterrupted period of private sector job creation in our history: 58 months, 11.2 million jobs.  In 2014, we created nearly 3 million new jobs, more than in any year since 1999.  For all our progress, however, too many Americans are still out of work and too many middle class families still feel squeezed.  It is clear the 114th Congress must act to create jobs and expand the opportunities of working people and middle class families.

“On the first day of this Congress, Democrats put forward a legislative package to increase paychecks for working families and put Americans back to workbuilding the roads and bridges our country needs – paid for by keeping our tax dollars here at home.  The CEO/Employee Pay Fairness Act will ensure that workers share in the fruit of their productivity, by denying CEOs the ability to claim tax deductions on income over $1 million unless they give their employees a well-deserved raise.  With the Stop Corporate Expatriation and Invest in America’s Infrastructure Act, we will prevent U.S. corporations from renouncing their citizenship to dodge paying their fair share of taxes and use those dollars to create good-paying jobs here at home.

“Republicans, however, blocked the House from considering both bills – choosing instead to spend the opening days of the new Congress advancing more special interest priorities.  The American people expect Congress to champion the paychecks of middle class families, not the profits of big banks and corporations shipping jobs overseas.  Republicans should stop undermining the middle class, and come together with Democrats to create jobs, bigger paychecks and better infrastructure for every American family.”

Unemployment Rate Falls Again – Down to 5.6 Percent – #BlameObama

No wonder the jokers in the Republican party are now trying to take credit for the economic growth in this country. Who wouldn’t want to be in charge of an economy with a 5.6 unemployment rate?

The U.S. capped its best year for hiring in 15 years with a healthy job gain in December and the unemployment rate falling to a six-year low. The data adds to signs of strength that contrast with sputtering global growth.

The Labor Department says employers added 252,000 jobs last month and 50,000 more in October and November combined than previously estimated. The unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 percent from 5.8 percent and is at the lowest level since June 2008.

Unemployment Rate Falls Again, More Jobs Growth in October

Another month, more Americans find work and the economy gets stronger. But Democrats stayed silent, refusing to talk about the improving economy and record jobs creation during the midterm campaign season,  allowing Republicans to push their narrative that the “economy is falling apart.” And that narrative is what voters believed when they gave Republicans the Congress on Tuesday.

The U.S. created 214,000 jobs in October, nudging the unemployment rate down a notch to 5.8%, as many companies added workers to gear up for the holiday season. The economy has now added 200,000 workers or more for nine straight months, a feat last accomplished in 1994. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected a seasonally adjusted gain of 243,000 nonfarm jobs. So far in 2014 the U.S. has gained an average of 229,000 jobs a month, the fastest pace since 1999…

The labor-force participation rate, meanwhile, edged up to 62.8% from 62.7% as more people looked for work. Employment gains for September and August were revised up by a combined 31,000. The government said the 256,000 new jobs were created in September, up from a preliminary 248,000. August’s gain was raised to 203,000 from 180,000.

Unemployment Rate Falls to 5.9% – 248,000 Jobs Created in September

Watch Republicans find a way to somehow say this is bad for the economy.

In September, the economy added another 248,000 jobs, lowering the unemployment rate to 5.9 percent according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and creating even more headaches for Republicans.

BLU stated that the number of unemployed persons decreased by 329,000 to 9.3 million. The White House noted that America’s businesses extended the longest streak of private-sector job gains on record. The data underscore that six years after the Great Recession—thanks to the hard work of the American people and in part to the policies the President has pursued—our economy has bounced back more strongly than most others around the world.

More Americans Working, Unemployment Rate Falls to 6.1%

Now I too can do what the other talking heads are doing and complain that 142,000 new working Americans in the month of August is too low a figure for this economy. And I too can look at the unemployment rate, which fell from 6.2 to 6.1%, and complain about that it is not at 1%. But compared to where we were when Bush left office, when we were losing 750,000 jobs a month, I’ll say we are in a pretty good place right now.

Of course, there’s always room for improvement, but creating almost 10 million jobs over the last 53 months is definitely progress.
