PolitiFact Calls Mitt Romney’s Lie “Pants On Fire”

It’s a talking point used, not only by Mitt Romney, but also by Michele Bachmann, and really just about every other Republican in Congress. They just love repeating it over and over, like it cannot be checked for accuracy or something.

Well PolitiFact, the non-biased, non-partisan group, has taken it upon themselves to fact-check these politicians. At the last Republican presidential debate, Mitt Romney continued the usual talking point – “President Obama apologizes  for America.”

Fact-checking found this to be a lie. And not just any ol’ lie,  like a white lie or a fib. No, this one qualifies for a category PolitiFact calls a “Pants On Fire” lie.

Mitt Romney’s Campaign Defends His Lying Ad

Relax people, it’s okay to lie as part of your campaign strategy to become the next elected president of the United States. At least that’s what Mitt Romney and his campaign camp believes. And they want you to be in on the lie too!

When asked if they had any explanation for intentionally misleading the American people with an ad showing President Obama saying, “if we keep talking about the economy, we will lose,” Romney’s campaign said that was their intent. Misleading the American people is “exactly what we want.”

What the ad fails to tell the American people is that –  the then Senator –  Obama was actually paraphrasing something Mr. McCain said in their 2008 presidential campaign.

Romney senior New Hampshire adviser Tom Rath tells CBS News the ad is “exactly what we want.”

“They were using McCain’s words to make fun of McCain. And we’re using the exact same technique,” he said.

Pressed on whether it was unfair to lop off the top of Mr. Obama’s comments — which would show the president was quoting the McCain camp — Rath said, “He did say the words. That’s his voice.”

He then [suggested] that the more people discuss the ad, the better it is for the Romney campaign.

So what’s the moral of this story? There’s none. There are ABSOLUTELY NO MORALS depicted in this story… and that’s exactly the way Romney is choosing to run his campaign. Morals, apparently, are for losers!

Rick Santorum Wants More Profiling Of Muslims

In tonight’s debate sponsored by CNN and moderated by Wolf Blitzer, the question was put to various candidates as to whether they support the Patriotic Act, a law that gives the federal government the authority to take extreme steps in gathering intelligence, even among American citizens. Just about all the participants agreed with the Patriot Act, except Ron Paul of course, who believes in freedom over security.

After  Rick Santorum got his chance to answer the question, Blitzer pointed out the fact that  “under certain circumstances” Santorum said he would support profiling. He then asked Santorum to explain in what instances would profiling be supported, “…is it ethnic profiling, religious profiling?”

Santorum answered;

Well, the folks most likely to be committing these crimes… obviously Muslims would be someone you’d look at, absolutely…. those are the folks who are the radical Muslims who would be committing these crimes,:

The Republican audience applauded… what else is new?

Mitt Romney Lies To The American People… Again!

Something must be terribly wrong in the Mitt Romney camp. The Republican presidential candidate has continually resorted to blatantly lying about the president.

In a new political ad engineered by the Romney campaign, President Obama is heard saying “if we keep talking about the economy, we will lose.” But what Romney and his handlers failed to reveal to the viewer, is that Mr. Obama was actually quoting something said by his 2008 Republican presidential opponent – Senator John McCain.

Is this the only thing the desperate but eventual Republican front-runner can come up with, lying to the American people to try and win the White House?

Actually,  no one here is surprised. He is, after all, a Republican.

Bernie Sanders – Disappointed, Not Surprised With Super Committee

Bernie Sanders, one of the only Senators in Congress who maintains a strong approval among the American people, (he’s often called “America’s Senator,”) expressed his frustrations with the failure of the Super Committee to reach a compromise on ways to effectively reduce the deficit. Saunders made the following statement;

“With a $15 trillion national debt, deficit reduction is clearly a huge issue for the country.  I am disappointed, but not surprised, that the super committee was unable to reach agreement.

“The American people have made it very clear that they believe the wealthiest people in the country – who are doing phenomenally well and are paying the lowest effective tax rate in decades – must start sharing some of the burden of deficit reduction. The American people have made it clear that they favor closing tax loopholes for profitable corporations. The American people have made it clear that it is time to take a hard look at mushrooming defense spending.

“Unfortunately, the Republicans in Congress won’t do what big majorities of Americans want Congress to do. The only way Republicans want to lower deficits is by cutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, education, and the environment, while providing even more tax breaks for millionaires and profitable corporations.

“Now, with more than one year to go before automatic spending cuts take effect, there is time for Congress to do what the American people want.”

Everyone knows what the American people want. The truth of the matter is, Republicans in this Congress just don’t care.

Where Are Mitt Romney’s Government Records In Massachusetts? – Destroyed

While calling for more transparency from the Obama Administration, Mitt Romney – the sure thing to eventually win the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential election – just about admitted today in an interview that he had his campaign workers  destroy emails and other records from his time as governor in Massachusetts. The idea was to keep his political opponents from knowing how he governed. Y’ know… “transparency.”

They even went as far as buying back old hard-drives from the computers used in his administration.

Romney and his campaign have so far denied this, with the candidate saying this weekend in New Hampshire that his staff took the highly unusual step of purchasing their work hard drives because they might contain “confidential and private” information…

But in a fairly stunning admission today during an interview with the editorial board of the Nashua Telegraph in New Hampshire, Romney suggested that his administration deleted emails because they didn’t want “opposition research teams” to have access to them.

In the interview, Romney said, “…well, I think in government we should follow the law. And there has never been an administration that has provided to the opposition research team, or to the public, electronic communications. So ours would have been the first.”

The Super Committee’s A Super Dud!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the American political system where political affiliation is more important than doing what’s right for the viability of the United States economy. The “Super Committee” is set to announce today that they failed to reach a compromise on bringing some stability to the nation’s runaway deficit crisis.

“I wouldn’t be optimistic. I don’t want to create any false hope here,” Republican Senator Jon Kyl said on Fox News. He said the panel would release a statement by the end of the day.

After a year of bruising budget battles, failure by the super committee is another sign that U.S. lawmakers are too entrenched to compromise on the tax increases and benefit cuts that budget experts say are needed to set the country’s finances on a stable path.

The failure will cement notions of a dysfunctional Washington among voters and investors already disenchanted with the brinkmanship that brought the country to the edge of a first-ever debt default in August.

Lawmakers likely will not return to the problem until 2013 at the earliest as they shift their attention to the 2012 presidential and congressional elections.

Budget skirmishes will continue over the coming months.

Republicans unwillingness to raise taxes on the top 1% and Democrats unwillingness to cut spending on programs that benefit the bottom 99% without raising taxes on the top 1% means that come 2013, programs that Republicans adore like the military budget will automatically be cut along with programs Democrats love, like some entitlement programs for the poor.

However, 2013 is still a long time away. If nothing is done now, you can be assured that somehow, these incompetent fools in Congress will manage to stop the automatic triggers set to begin because of this failure. Wait for it…!

Rick Santorum – Lower Income Americans Should “Suffer”

So now it’s Rick Santorum’s turn to add his contribution to the list of Republican presidential candidates who just don’t give a crap about the unfortunate among us. Not to be left out of the Republican insanity, Santorum felt the need to add his two cents.

On Friday, Santorum attended a town hall meeting in Ottumwa Iowa, and complained that lower-income Americans receive too many government benefits. He calls this a bad thing and said that these Americans should just “suffer.”

 If you’re lower income, you get lots of things you can qualify for. In many states, you can qualify for Medicaid, you can qualify for food stamps, you can qualify for housing assistance…”

“Suffering is part of life and it’s not a bad thing, it is an essential thing in life.”

And these are supposed to be the best of the best in the Republican Party. WOW!

p.s. – Whatever you do, don’t google “Santorum.” Don’t do it I tells ya!
