Change Is In Our Hands: Vote!

Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules.

Political rules?

My choice in the New Jersey Senate race is either the incumbent, Democrat Bob Menendez, or the Republican challenger, Bob Hugin.

Senator Menendez was charged with all sorts of nasty political-insider-corruption-fraud-bad-bad-things, when through the process, and it all resulted in a mistrial. Meanwhile, he’s been an effective Senator and has been a terrific friend to teachers and public education in general. He’s also fought hard to get the current administration in Washington to commit some money to rebuild the transportation infrastructure in New Jersey, which has been in terrible shape for years.

Bob Hugin is a businessman and a Republican. If he wins, whatever centrism that exists in his agenda will be swallowed Jonah-like by Mitch McConnell and the ultra-right-wing Know-Nothings who currently run the Senate. And that’s not to mention that he will be obligated to support the most odious, malodorous politician in, well, ever, that being the president of the country who never met a fact he could ignore or turn into a falsehood.

Politics has always attracted people with, shall we say, malleable ethics, but under President Trump, the rules are gone. He has no moral standing, and neither does the Republican Party that supports him while he attempts to trash the constitution and make a mockery of the inclusive values that we’ve tried to practice as a nation. He has nothing but fear and the now-scary title of Commander-In-Chief, which means that he can order soldiers to the border to possibly shoot women and children if they make the mistake of…throwing a rock.

At this point, it is imperative that we as a country put the brakes on Republican one-party rule, as the Republicans did to Democrats in 2010. The House presents the best opportunity for that, because I think the Senate will remain Republican, which has to make the right very happy since they can continue to pack the courts with young judges who think that meaningful constitutional interpretation means living in 1789. In fact, I think the main Republican strategy since the beginning for October is to save the Senate, which explains the president’s continued screeds against immigrants and the media, even when he should be taking a more measured tone in the aftermath of pipe bombs and antisemitic attacks.

And don’t forget that the only meaningful legislation the Republicans have passed is a giant, whopping tax break for the wealthy that has exploded the deficit so completely, it makes the Reagan deficit seem like a rounding error.

Make sure you vote on Tuesday, and in the interests of returning some balance to the country, please vote Democratic. Just think of what two more years of Republican rule will mean for this country.

Hillary Clinton Beats Bernie Sanders in Nevada

Whatever retooling the Clinton campaign team did after being blown out by Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, worked… at least in Nevada, as the former Secretary of State was projected the winner of the Democratic Nevada caucus long before the results rolled in.

Clinton prevailed in the third contest of the primary campaign with the backing of women, union workers, minorities and voters who are certain that the former secretary of state will have a better shot of winning in November, according to entrance polls.

Marvin Teske, a 53-year-old security guard at a Reno casino, said he worried that Sanders would have trouble winning in the fall. The Vermont senator largely appeals to white liberals, a relatively narrow swath of the Democratic Party.

“As far as being too far left, I agree with a lot of the stuff he has to say. But the problem I have is that all the stuff he is promising is never going to happen,” Teske said. “I’ve always liked Hillary.”

The Truth about Rand Paul – PIC

He’s running for president, so there is blatant pandering going on. If you can vote, Rand Paul is your friend. Paul is hoping that folks forget certain things about his true philosophy and past votes, but there are a few truths that just wont go away, no matter how much pandering he does.

Republican Rand Paul is Going After ‘the Black Vote’ – Must Be Another Presidential Election

He’s running for president, and he’s a politician. That said, Rand Paul and others like him will twist and turn and squeeze themselves in any shape or reshape possible, if it gives them the ability to get a vote in 2016. So yes, he will pander to the Black community, to the Hispanic community, to women, to gays. These are just some of the groups Rand Paul and the Republicans have hammered over the last few years but, he is running for president and he’s a politician… and he’s a Republican!

So here goes Rand Paul the pretzel!

You’ve got to give this much to Rand Paul: Kentucky’s junior senator is willing to do something almost unheard of in modern presidential politics, which is to make arguments that not everyone in his party already cares about. For this reason alone, Paul is probably the most interesting presidential hopeful out there, if not the most likely to succeed.

Paul’s latest gambit, as you may have seen, involves an appeal to black voters, who generally have about as much attachment to the Republican Party as Donald Sterling has to his wife. This unusual courtship, which included a speech to the Urban League in which Paul actually quoted Malcolm X, led to a spate of media stories in the past week about a new contest between the parties to win over black voters in closely divided states.

Polling Machine In Pennsylvania Credits Obama Votes To Mitt Romney

The good thing about this story is that this machine was removed when the fault was brought to the attention of the poll workers. No idea how many votes were wrongly credited to Mitt Romney

Justice Roberts Switched Vote To Uphold President’s Health Care Law

(CBS News) Chief Justice John Roberts initially sided with the Supreme Court’s four conservative justices to strike down the heart of President Obama’s health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, but later changed his position and formed an alliance with liberals to uphold the bulk of the law, according to two sources with specific knowledge of the deliberations.

Roberts then withstood a month-long, desperate campaign to bring him back to his original position, the sources said. Ironically, Justice Anthony Kennedy – believed by many conservatives to be the justice most likely to defect and vote for the law – led the effort to try to bring Roberts back to the fold.

“He was relentless,” one source said of Kennedy’s efforts. “He was very engaged in this.”

But this time, Roberts held firm. And so the conservatives handed him their own message which, as one justice put it, essentially translated into, “You’re on your own.”

Wishing Detroit Go Bankrupt, Romney Now Begs for Their Vote – Video

Let’s take a moment to remind the wonderful people of Michigan what Mitt Romney thinks of them and their auto industry. If it was left up to him, hundreds of thousands of jobs would have been eliminated, as Romney took the position that Detroit should “go bankrupt.”

Failing to acknowledge that his position on the auto bailout was wrong, Mittens is now spending heavily in the motor city, expressing how much he loves the height of the trees to anyone who will listen. And it seems his efforts are paying off as Michigan voters are taking another look at the tree hugger before Tuesday’s vote.

Enter AFSCME, one of the biggest unions in the nation. They created this video as a friendly reminder to the people of where Mittens stood when he was given a chance to weigh in on how to fix the auto problem.

The Gingrich That Stole South Carolina Is Now Leading In Florida

Mitt Romney has to be questioning himself and his position in this Republican party, as new polls show a sudden love for the once disgraced and despised Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich, a man with a political record comparable to that of the common criminal (really… the average person would be sitting in jail if they did the same things Gingrich did), won the Republican vote in South Carolina, and now has the lead in Florida.

The InsiderAdvantage poll of of 557 registered Republican voters is one of the first polls taken in Florida in the aftermath of Gingrich’s double-digit win in the South Carolina primary Saturday.

The poll results follow:

Gingrich: 34%

Romney: 26%

Paul: 13%

Santorum: 11%

Other: 2%

No opinion: 14%

The InsiderAdvantage poll was the first major poll last week to show the significant surge for Gingrich in South Carolina.
