Morgan Freeman lends his famous voice to the Re-election campaign for President Obama. In the ad below, Mr. Freeman spoke about where we were as a country when President Obama took office, where we are now and where we must go in the future.
“the last thing we should do, is turn back now,” Mr. Freeman said, as the ad comes to an end.
Move along folks, there’s nothing to see here. Just another story pointing out something you’ve all heard before and know for a fact – that Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate and his running mate Paul Ryan, both lie.
In this posting, you’ll see Paul Ryan denying that he requested Stimulus funds, only to admit that he did in fact, asked for funds on two different occasions. This admission came when Ryan’s back was against the wall in the vice-presidential debate.
What if Mitt Romney had to debate himself. Who will win, or in Romney’s case, who will lose?
The good people over at Daily Kos took three of the many different positions Romney adopted over the course of this campaign, and the result is shown in the clip below.
It’s a great idea. I would like to see a longer debate between these two.
Mitt Romney was in the restaurant. He strolled over to a table and sat down next to a man who just happened to be a veteran… a gay veteran. Seeing Mr. Romney sitting next to him, the veteran asked Mr. Romney a question that was of importance to him.
“How do you feel about marriage equality Mr. Romney?”
“I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman,” Romney happily responded, unaware that he was talking to a gay man. He apparently expected the elderly man to smile approvingly, after all, the man was in his 60’s and common knowledge suggests that elderly people will generally be against same-sex marriage.
But Romney soon realized he was wrong about this particular elder and after a brief and uncomfortable discussion, Romney was quickly ushered away from the table.
The veteran was angry, and told reporters that Romney will not get his vote. “He will never be president,” he said. “At least not my president!”
Republican women have seen the light. They are witness to the obvious assault the men in their party are waging on them and they are saying enough with the party-first-me-second mentality. They are demanding the respect they deserve, but respect in today’s Republican party doesn’t come easily, so these women are taking matters into their own hands. They are voting for policies that protect their lives. They are voting for President Obama this November.
The video below is sponsored by the Jewish Council on Education and Research Super PAC. It stars Samuel Jackson and his co-star, “little Suzie.” In the vocal tradition of his audio book for children, “Go the F*ck To Sleep,” Jackson begins the piece;
“In the silvery moonlight that bathed every town,
the people lie dreaming so safe and so sound.
They’re warm in their beds, snuggled up in their sheets,
But four years before, they were out in the streets.
Now, it’s as if they don’t know what’s at stake,
All except one girl, wide-eyed and awake.”
“Little Suzie is to worried to sleep,
She can’t figure out why her family is so placid.
It’s like they don’t know that Romney and his veep,
Will remake the country in ways that are drastic.
She read his platform and it scared he to death,
She’s got to do something, while there’s still time left.”
I’m not a big fan of Morning Joe on MSNBC. Host Joe Scarborough usually get to me and I still cannot figure out what Mika’s role on the show is. But sometimes, Joe would say something worth repeating and on Tuesday morning, the news worthy part of Joe’s broadcast featured his cast discussing Romney’s recent blunder, where he was caught on video dissing 47% of America.
Joe started the discussion pointing out how comfortable Mitt Romney when he said that poorer Americans are basically lazy and dependent on the government. “What was that?” Joe asked.
“That’s the case the Obama campaign made last night. This was a man saying what he believes. This is a window into the real Mitt Romney,” was one answer.
A second guest added, “… unfortunately he says this thing, this one sentence, ‘I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.’ That’s pretty much every senior citizen in America. Pretty much every senior citizen in America who is on Medicare and Social Security doesn’t pay any income tax. That’s the one voting group Mitt Romney had a clear advantage over the President with. It’s so contentious, it’s so condescending.”
Joe then made a comparison with George Bush who, according to Joe, tried to get voters from the minority group. Joe finished up with the conclusion that Mitt Romney sounds like a “plutocrat.” (According to the Dictionary, a plutocrat is someone who believes that Government is for the wealthy, that the wealthy should be the ones controlling the government.) He later added that this week is the worst he’s seen for the Romney campaign.
Peter King, Mitt Romney, Donald Rumsfield, Liz Cheney, Tim Pawlenty and other Republicans regularly use the media to propagate a false claim – that the President goes around the world apologising for America. When that lie is told on Fox News and other irresponsible “news” outlets, the claim goes unchecked and the viewing public is left with the impression that the President is weak on national security.
But on Monday’s Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien, Peter King was finally asked to backup his claims. King pointed to a 2009 speech by the President in Cairo and said the speech contains “apologies” for America’s values. Soledad explained that she had copies of the speech and found no reference to apologies or the words “I’m sorry.”
“Everyone keeps talking about this ‘apology tour’ and ‘apologies’ from the President,” said O’Brien. “And I’m trying to find the words “I’m sorry, I apologize’ in any of those speeches — which I have the text of all those speeches in front of me. None of those speeches at all. And if you go to factcheck.org, which we check in a lot, they all say the same thing. They fact check this.”
She also advised King that Fact Checkers have debunked the claim that the President went on an “apology tour,” to which King answered, “I don’t care about fact checkers.”
That sentiment is reflected in Mitt Romney’s campaign. When presented with facts challenging the false claims he makes, Romney continues the lies.
In his never-ending bid to pander to every conceivable group of voters, Mitt Romney aligned himself yesterday with Republican Pat Robertson, a Political on-air personality who also calls himself an Evangelist. And it was Pat Robertson who recently advised an abused husband to “become a Muslim and beat your wife.”
