Pistons-Knicks usher/fan dance off

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, the Detroit Pistons defeated the New York Knicks for the first time since 2011.

The thrilling victory was on their home court, The Palace, which made it even sweeter. But the highlight of the game happened in the stands.

The State Farm dance cam was making its way through the crowd, when an adorable young fan started exuberantly pop-locking in the stands. Clinton Shannon Sailes Sr, known to Detroit fans as “The Dancing Usher” took it as a challenge; what happened next is pure viral magic.

Republican’s Hate for Obama Is Not About Policies, They Hate The Man

When you see a graph like the one shown above it makes you wonder: what is it about this president, this particular president, that would make Republicans hate him so much?& A hate soo strong, that they’ve decided to do everything they can, even bringing the country to its knees, to make sure this president fails.

Their excuse is always the same – we are against the policies and the direction the president is taking the country. Yes, that would be admirable, but it’s not true.

The fact is, the policies Mr. Obama have implemented are not the left winged, Democratic wet dreams that Republicans must fight against. No, on the contrary. The president’s policies – maybe by design or purely unintentionally – are more center or right of center.

Take the Republican hated Obamacare for example. The idea of Obamacare was first instituted in Massachusetts by a Republican governor named Mitt Romney. And the dreaded “individual mandate” Republicans hate so much, was the brainchild of a right winged think tank called The Heritage Foundation.

But Obamacare was not all. There are more policies previously supported and even proposed by Republicans, that lost Republican favor when the president embraced those policies. A fact that even the President noticed, when he, on many occasions, called Republicans out for turning their backs on their own policies because those policies gained his support.

So if it’s not about policies, then it has to be about a man. What is it about the man that has Republicans so pissed off? So consumed with hate that they’re happily pushing the country over the edge hoping to point their finger to the man in charge and say, “see, he did it!”

It’s not Obama’s family that they hate, or his policies or even his party. And it’s not the president’s beliefs. What’s fueling the Republican’s hate is nothing more than the color of the President’s skin.

The graph above tells the whole story. All American presidents, a mixture of Democrats and Republicans. But the black dude on the left has seen more of his court nominations filibustered by Republicans than all the other presidents combined.

Republicans want you to think that they’re all for the Constitution. They’re the first to quote selected texts and point out what the Founding Fathers intended when they put the document together. But I’m sure they can’t find a passage in the Constitution that says one branch of government must do all they can to make sure the other branches fail… especially if the head of one of those branches is black.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner Successfully Signs Up For ObamaCare

Congratulations House Speaker John Boehner for successfully enrolling in the Affordable Care Act; Aka: Obamacare.

It was about an hour after Boehner’s office said he couldn’t sign up for Obamacare coverage on the District of Columbia’s exchange, that his office said, he had officially enrolled.

Boehner’s office wrote, “Kept at it, and called the DC Health Link help line. They called back a few hours later, and after restarting the process on the website two more times, I just heard from DC Health Link that I have been successfully enrolled.”

Politico reports:

Responding to Boehner’s earlier failed attempts to sign up for coverage, the District’s exchange — known as DC Health Link — said it recently identified some system errors after enrollment.

“We recently discovered the fact that after enrollment, some users have been receiving a random error message,” DC Health Link communications director Richard Sorian wrote in an email. “Despite the message, these individuals have been enrolled. Our call center has been able to quickly resolve these matters. We are working on a system-wide update that will eliminate this soon. Users will be able to verify their enrollment in their secure, online account.”
Boehner’s office on Thursday afternoon said he originally received an error screen when he tried to sign up for coverage. “Guess I’ll just have to keep trying…” his office wrote at the time.

I plan to enroll too, but I’m not a ‘shop on Black Friday’ kind of person. I’ve been waiting for things to settle down. After I enroll, it will be like Boehner and I are BFFs. Isn’t that exciting?

Stuff not covered: How long did it take to enroll for coverage by an insurance company before Obamacare?

President Obama on His Personal Security – “It’s not something I think about”

On the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, President Obama said that although the tragedy transformed the U.S. Secret Service, which protects him and his family today, he doesn’t spend much time worrying about his personal safety.

“It’s not something I think about,” Obama told ABC News‘ Barbara Walters in an interview today. “Mainly because we have a Secret Service that does an outstanding job every single day.”

“And, obviously, tragedy reshaped the Secret Service in many ways, but they do an outstanding job and it’s thankfully not something I spend a lot of time worrying about,” he added.

President Obama’s full interview with Barbara Walters will air on “20/20” Friday, Nov. 29.

Obama also reflected on JFK’s untimely death, which came nearly three years into his presidency, and its lasting impact on the country.

“And it’s been an incredible legacy but JFK in particular, I think, captured the idealism, the ability to imagine and remake America to meets its ideals, in a way we haven’t seen before or since,” Obama said.

“And I don’t know of anyone who has had that same impact on a generation and inspired so many people as JFK has,” he added

Knicks Coach Fined $25000 for Criticizing NBA Refs

The New York Knicks aren’t doing too good right now. In a recent interview on ESPN, the Knicks head coach Mike Woodson made a statement that caught the ear of the NBA gods.

The Knicks Coach was talking about the foul calls or lack of calls where his star player Carmelo Anthony is concerned, and this statement cost him $25,000

Absolutely. And I’m not going to shy away from that either. I think Melo gets hit more than ever.”

“I’ve been at this thing 30 years and sometimes I’m starting to wonder what’s a foul and what’s not a foul.”

“The offense normally has the advantage when you’re making plays at the rim…Melo draws a lot of contact but he comes up empty a lot of times as well.”

This Woman Wants to Sell Her Virginity To The Highest Bidder

A 21-year-old Brazilian woman who auctioned off her virginity online for $780,000 last year now says she wants to sell it again as the deal was never consummated.

In October last year, Catarina Migliorini took part in an online auction as part of the “Virgins Wanted” documentary organised by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely.

A Japanese identified only as Natsu beat out competition from 14 other men, mainly from Brazil, but also from India, Australia and the United States.

But in a video, Miss Migliorini now insists: “I am still a virgin in every sense of the word and no one can prove me wrong.”

The young woman, who posed nude next to a pink teddy bear in Playboy magazine, opened her own website to hold a second sale of her virginity to the highest bidder.

“I decided to open my own webpage to auction off my virginity and this time it will be for real. So those interested, men or women, can make their bids,” she said.

She told the Brazilian showbiz website Pure People that she hopes to bring in at least $680,000.

On Natsu, she said she met him in a restaurant in Sydney.

“He was not a 53-year-old man as Justin (Sisely) claimed,” she said. “He was a 21-year-old Japanese. I was surprised and no deal was struck between him and I.”

She added that she will give details of the failed transaction in an forthcoming book.

It was not clear whether Miss Migliorini ever received any money from Natsu.

Meanwhile Miss Migliorini’s mother, Mary, said she was “flabbergasted” by her daughter’s decision.

“I don’t approve but I won’t stop loving her. I love my daughter unconditionally … But I don’t get this,” she added

Right-Wing Nut Writes – “We now have authority to shoot Obama, i.e., to kill him.”

Larry Klayman was recently the topic of one of Chris Matthews segments on Hardball. Klayman is no stranger to hate for President Obama, and recently told a group of Teaparty protesters in Washington that President Obama should “surrender and come out with his hands in the air.”

Klayman, and others like him, use eliminationist rhetoric with no regard for who they might inspire. Here’s apost from Facebook taking Klayman a few giant steps further (and yes, the Secret Service is on it). It says, in part:

We now have authority to shoot Obama, i.e., to kill him. His willful violations and alienation of our Constitution, constant disregard for our peaceful protests and corruption of all the three branches of government, (i.e., rogue and illegitiimate government), reveal the dictator that he is.

This isn’t the first assassination threat posted on social media and it won’t be the last. Mr. Wilhelmsen is a militia man, a self-proclaimed good Christian who is standing up for his country while he calls for the assassination of our President just days ahead of the 50-year observance of the anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

I get the first amendment, free speech, yea I get it. But when a nut is inciting other nuts to “kill” the president, then that nut has clearly crossed the line and has given up his freedom.

Again, the Secret Service is on it.

6 “Knockout”-Style Attacks Hit The City

Medical researcher Lawrence Hsieh, schooled in Taekwondo, didn’t have time to defend himself when a kid KO’ed him on Church Street in one of six assaults in two days that appear to mimic a violent game hitting the East Coast.

Walking on the overpass between North and South Frontage at 5:30 p.m., Hsieh (pictured above) encountered a group of three young men. Without warning, one approached him and sucker-punched him in the nose, knocking Hsieh to the ground. The assailant and his buddies took off down the street, laughing.

“The whole ordeal was over in 30 seconds,” said Hsieh, who may have broken his nose as a result.

Hseih’s attacker was following the script of the so-called “Knockout Game,” which consists of punching random strangers. To become a “Knockout King,” the player must bring his target to the ground with one jab.

The game has been reported in recent days in several East Coast cities, including New York, New Jersey, and Washington D. C. Incidents date back to 2011.

Weiner was an active leader for MLB players and his positive impact on the game of a Baseball can not be overstated. Even through his 15 month battle, Weiner continued to work. He did not use his condition as a reason to quit but instead was an active leader until the very end.

Many players and Baseball writers took to twitter to express their sadness about the passing of Michael Weiner.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post wrote:

“@Joelsherman1: Forget about his union work and intellect, Mike Weiner was as nice a person as I have met. Utter sadness, respect to his family #RIP”

MLB pitcher, David Aardsma wrote:

“@TheDA53: My heart goes out to the Weiner family. Michael was one of the most brilliant people I have ever know. We have lost a great great person!”

Mark Fiensand of the Daily News wrote:

“@FeinsandNYDN: Very sad to hear of Michael Weiner’s passing. Did great things for the MLBPA and the entire game, but more important was a quality person.”
“@FeinsandNYDN: Michael Weiner once told me there were few things he loved more than being with baseball players. His love for the game showed in his work.”

Former MLB player, Aaron Boone wrote:

“@AaronBoone_ESPN: Baseball and the world lost a good man today. R.I.P. Michael Weiner”

These were just a few tweets of the many pouring onto twitter. All of them follow the same theme. Michael Weiner was not just a great union head, he was a great friend and person. He will be sorely missed.

Don Lemon Compares Obama to Toronto’s Rob Ford – Steven Colbert Responds – Video

Everyone is jumping on the bash Obama bandwagon these days because of the technical problems with the Obamacare website. But when CNN’s Don Lemon opened his mouth on this week and compared the President to Toronto’s crack smoking mayor Rob Ford, well, people took notice.

Said Lemon: “You won’t find two politicians who’ve had worse weeks…. President Obama saying ‘I’m Sorry’ over and over for his so-called signature achievement Obamacare, Rob Ford though admitting to crack– to be a crack smoker.”

Steven Colbert took notice. In his show last night, Colbert took aim at Lemon for his maladroit comparison. Lemon it seemed, thought it was a correct comparison because both President Obama and Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford had a bad week and offered apologies. Colbert then wondered if a comparison between Lemon and a goat could be made if both were shown on video.

Colbert’s conclusion? “Yeah, they’re both in trouble. Therefore it’s an entirely fair comparison,” he mocked. “The same way that since they’re both on video, it’s fair to compare Don Lemon’s reporting to this dog milking a goat.”
