After allegedly being stripped, beaten and bit by 7-Eleven employees last year, accused candy-thief David Golson is finally having his day in court.
The 30-year-old Bronx man is suing 7-Eleven, claiming “emotional distress,” according to documents he filed in the Bronx Supreme Court on October 29. A video of his Golson’s brutal beat-down went viral last year and Golson claims the internet frenzy has exacerbated his mental stress and well-being.
The video shows Golson repeatedly attempting to tell the attackers he’s innocent. “I don’t have nothing!” he pleads as the attackers strip of him of clothes. Several days after the incident, Golson was charged with robbery, assault, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the New York Daily News.
7-Eleven fired one of the employees that participated in the attack, according to theDaily News.
President Barack Obama faced perhaps the worst job approval numbers of his presidency in a new Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday afternoon.
American voters disapprove of the job he’s doing by a margin of 54 to 39 percent — up from a 49-45 percent disapproval on Oct. 1, according to the same poll. It’s the first time his approval rating has dipped below 40 percent. His lowest score in the ongoing Quinnipiac survey was a 55-41 percent disapproval on Oct. 6, 2011.
“President Obama’s job approval rating has fallen to the level of former President George W. Bush at the same period of his Presidency,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
The president faces net disapproval among men (58-37 percent), independents (63-30 percent), white voters (62-32 percent), senior citizens (59-36 percent) and even women (51-40 percent) and Hispanic voters (47-41 percent). Democrats and black voters continue to strongly approve, 79-14 percent and 75-15 percent, respectively
So the Republicans are jumping in unison on Bill Clinton’s statement that Obama should “fix” Obamacare to allow people to keep the garbage insurance plans if they want to. To these people with such short attention span, Bill Clinton is the only person of importance in the Democratic party to make such a request.
But if they were listening to the President last week in an interview with Chuck Todd of MSNBC, these same dim-wits would have heard the President himself say that he and his team are working on ways to fix this problem in the healthcare law. White House spokesman Jay Carney was asked about this in a recent press conference, and had to remind everyone that what Clinton said is actually a moot point, because it is already being looked into.
JULIE PACE, ASSOCIATED PRESS: I wanted to get your reaction to a comment that President Clinton made in an interview that was posted today. He was talking about health care, he said, President Obama should honor his commitment to people who have lost their health care or losing their health care under the president’s law, even if it means changing that law. Does the president agree with the comment?
JAY CARNEY: I think as you saw the president say in an interview with NBC last week, the answer’s yes. The president has asked his team with looking at a range of options — as he said — to make sure that nobody is put in a position where their plans have been canceled and they can’t afford a better plan even though they’d like to have a better plan.
You heard the president address this very issue in his interview last week. And I think it’s important to note that President Clinton, in that interview, also said, and I quote, ‘the big lesson is that we are better off with this law than without it.’ And he said, quote, ‘the enrollment period did not come off well because the national website wasn’t ready. But this happened once before. It happened when President Bush put in the Medicare drug program for seniors, which was not as complicated but had exactly the same problem with the rollout. It was a disaster. There were people that lost their prescriptions for their existing medicine and they fixed it.’
So, the president, as you know, has pledged to ask his team, tasked his team to look at potential actions that could be taken to address this problem, because his focus is on making sure that people get quality and affordable health insurance.

But it’s a waste of time. These Republicans would only hear what they want to hear, and Clinton’s statement plays right into their gameplan – creating enough noise about Obamacare, in hopes that Americans would not buy into the law, thus making it a failure.
Anything to bring down the President of the United States.
As reported by WFPL., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell – the same Republican who said that his number one objective was to bring down the Obama presidency – admitted once again that policies and policy matters are not important to him.
All he wanted to discuss at a recent press conference was Obamacare – something he hopes in his puny mind, would bring down the Obama presidency.
Said McConnell: “I’m probably not going to be answering questions about anything else, but I’m happy to respond to questions about Obamacare. As some of you have complained from time to time that I don’t do a stake out after every event and I’m not going to do a stake out after every event because as you can imagine I prefer the news of that day to be what I’d like for it to be rather than what you all may be interested in pursuing.”

It must be all that stuff the Pope does, you know, like catering to the needs of the poor and teaching love and compassion for the less fortunate. He’s trying to put the focus of the Catholic Church back to community service and helping others.
Simple things, like giving up his pope-mobile for a less conspicuous, far less appealing 1984 ride, and washing and kissing the feet of prisoners… these things are a no no in the conservative world, so therefore, as per the Palin, the Pope must be a liberal!
In an interview on CNN’s “The Lead,” when host Jake Tapper , Palin shared the “thoughts” swirling around in her cabeza!
“Having read through media outlets, he’s had some statements that to me sounded kind of liberal, has taken me aback, has kind of surprised me. But there again unless I really dig deep into what his messaging is, and do my own homework, I’m not going to just trust what I hear in the media.”
A group of Occupy Wall Street activists has bought almost $15m of Americans’ personal debt over the last year as part of the Rolling Jubilee project to help people pay off their outstanding credit.
Rolling Jubilee, set up by Occupy’s Strike Debt group following the street protests that swept the world in 2011, launched on 15 November 2012. The group purchases personal debt cheaply from banks before “abolishing” it, freeing individuals from their bills.
By purchasing the debt at knockdown prices the group has managed to free $14,734,569.87 of personal debt, mainly medical debt, spending only $400,000.
“We thought that the ratio would be about 20 to 1,” said Andrew Ross, a member of Strike Debt and professor of social and cultural analysis at New York University. He said the team initially envisaged raising $50,000, which would have enabled it to buy $1m in debt.
“In fact we’ve been able to buy debt a lot more cheaply than that.”
The group is able to buy debt so cheaply due to the nature of the “secondary debt market”. If individuals consistently fail to pay bills from credit cards, loans, or medical insurance the bank or lender that issued the funds will eventually cut its losses by selling that debt to a third party. These sales occur for a fraction of the debt’s true values – typically for five cents on the dollar – and debt-buying companies then attempt to recoup the debt from the individual debtor and thus make a profit.
The Rolling Jubilee project was mostly conceived as a “public education project”, Ross said.
“We’re under no illusions that $15m is just a tiny drop in the secondary debt market. It doesn’t make a dent in the amount of debt.
“Our purpose in doing this, aside from helping some people along the way – there’s certainly many, many people who are very thankful that their debts are abolished – our primary purpose was to spread information about the workings of this secondary debt market.”
The group has focussed on buying medical debt, and has acquired the $14.7m in three separate purchases, most recently spending $13.5m on medical debt owed by 2,693 people across 45 states and Puerto Rico, Rolling Jubilee said in a press release.
“No one should have to go into debt or bankruptcy because they get sick,” said Laura Hanna, an organiser with the group. Hanna said 62% of all personal bankruptcies have medical debt as a contributing factor.

A woman claiming to know President Obama or Barry as he was called back in school when he was 16, claims that the President was a “gay, cocaine using hustler” back in school. This claim by the woman who calls herself Mia Marie Pope, is now being searched for near and far. Apparently, she has important information they need to make policies that will help the American people.
An official inquest into the mysterious death of Jason Airey was unable to determine exactly what led the 37-year-old to suddenly stop living shortly after opening a inscribed with the words “Pandora’s box.”
Airey was found slumped forward with his face down in the bedroom of his family home in container Carlisle (UK). He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but passed away two days later.
According to officials, the opened “Pandora’s box” beside him contained a small packet of synthetic cannabis, which was unused.
In fact, there were no traces of any drugs in his system at the time of death, and his father claimed Airey “hadn’t taken any drugs after having a bad experience with ecstasy 13 years ago.”
Dennis Airey further told the inquest that his son was in a good mood, and was “just his normal self” before his unexplained demise.
The coroner concluded that Airey’s heart stopped beating, but could only offer up conjecture as to why.
“His heart stopping caused the death of his brain which caused multiple organ failure,” Robert Chapman said. “We don’t really know what caused his heart to stop.
The President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino, says the death toll from Friday’s typhoon may be lower than first thought.
In an interview with CNN, he said the number of 10,000 killed was “too high” and the figure was more likely up to 2,500.
The UN says more than 11 million people are believed to have been affected and some 673,000 displaced.
The relief operation is being stepped up, but many are still without aid.
The earlier figure of 10,000 feared killed came from a police officer and local official and may have arisen from the “emotional trauma” of being at the centre of the disaster, Mr Aquino said.
He said 29 municipalities had yet to be contacted to establish the number of victims there.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has put the official death toll at 1,798, as of 22:00 local time (14:00 GMT) on Tuesday. The number of injured stands at 2,582 with 82 listed as missing.
Joe Scarborough of MSNBC is in promotion mode. He just wrote a new book The Right Path, and is making his rounds trying to sell as many books as he can.
Today’s visit brought Mr. Scarborough to The View on ABC where he, of course, spoke about his book. The book is apparently about… politics. Who knew?
Other topics of discussion for Scarborough? Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Barack Obama and the Republicans hate for the man. He seemed perplexed by the way Republicans are so focused on denying the president any legislative victories, and questioned their apparent when the next to jump off the cliff if it means a legislative loss for the president.
Take Obama Obamacare for example,. Scarborough, a staunch Republican himself, sad he is not for Obamacare, but could not figure out why dismantling the law seems to be the only goal for the Republican Party.
Speaking about this Republican hate for Obamacare Scarborough said, “I’m not going to endorse Obamacare right here.” He adds, “If you don’t like Obamacare, then guess what? Let’s actually win elections and we’re only going to win elections if we come up to an alternative to Obamacare.”
Of course, figuring out a way to win an election and then coming up with an alternative plan to Obamacare is too much work for these Republicans. They will stick to their futile goal of trying to dismantle the law.

Those in attendance, believing that they were witnessing something terrible, gasped in horror as the elderly woman laid motionless on the floor. She was eventually thrown over Cohan’s shoulder as he exited the stage.
