President’s Approval Ratings Fall

Republicans rejoice! The easily fooled Americans are buying your lies about the president and healthcare.

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s approval ratings are so sickly that Mitt Romney could beat him right now, a new poll has found.

Obamacare is the heart of the problem, with opposition to the Affordable Care Act at a new high, 57%, according to the Washington Post-ABC News poll released Tuesday.

The President’s overall approval rating is at 42%, a loss of six points in a month.

He’s at career lows for leadership and honesty, with his rating for leadership down by 15 points this year.

Romney topped Obama 49% to 45% among registered voters in the poll, while the 2012 rivals were tied at 47% among all Americans polled.

In the 2012 election, Obama beat Romney, 51% to 47%.

A big reason for the turnaround is chagrin among independents and moderates. Their disapproval of Obamacare has risen sharply.

Reuters Poll: Interest In Obamacare Coverage Still On the Rise

Reuters is reporting that uninsured Americans are showing more interest in the coverage offered under President Barack Obama’s healthcare law despite technical problems that have hindered enrollment through a government website, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The glitches have crippled HealthCare.gov, the new online insurance marketplace meant to serve people in 36 states, frustrating millions of would-be applicants since it opened for enrollment on October 1.

The poll’s findings are good news for Obamacare supporters who worry the problems and bad press could dissuade people from signing up, particularly the young and healthy who are crucial to diversifying the pool of insured and keeping premiums down.

The uninsured view the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, more favorably since online marketplaces opened – 44 percent compared with 37 percent in September, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll. It found that 56 percent oppose the program compared with 63 percent in September.

A higher proportion of the uninsured also said they are interested in buying insurance on the exchanges, with 42 percent in October, saying they were likely to enroll compared with 37 percent in September. The results have a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points

New Poll: Americand Don’t Approve of Boehner, McConnell, Cruz

Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) favorability rating has dropped to the lowest level since he took on his leadership position after the 2010 elections, according to a new poll.

A CNN poll released Tuesday shows Boehner’s favorability rating hanging at 27 percent, down 6 points since last month. The number of people who hold an unfavorable view of him shot up 7 points to 55 percent — his highest rating ever.

Among Republicans, his favorability dropped 9 percent.

Boehner’s numbers follow an overall downward trend of the Republican Party a week after leaders came to an agreement to end the 16-day shutdown and raise the nation’s borrowing limit.
Sixty-four percent of the public holds an unfavorable view of the Republican Party.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) also saw their favorability ratings drop.

McConnell’s rating dropped to 23 percent. It already stood at 27 percent before the shutdown. His rating dropped 11 percent among Republicans.

Cruz, who helped lead the charge to defund ObamaCare which ultimately led to the government shutdown, saw a 7 percent drop in his favorability rating since last month. Only 23 percent of people hold a favorable view of the freshman senator, while 42 percent hold an unfavorable view

New Poll: More Americans Want Democrats Controlling the House

Just over half the public says that it’s bad for the country that the GOP controls the House of Representatives, according to a new national poll conducted after the end of the partial government shutdown.

And the CNN/ORC International survey also indicates that more than six in 10 Americans say that Speaker of the House John Boehner should be replaced.

The poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, just after the end of the 16-day partial federal government shutdown that was caused in part by a push by House conservatives to try and dismantle the health care law, which is President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement.

According to the survey, 54% say it’s a bad thing that the GOP controls the House, up 11 points from last December, soon after the 2012 elections when the Republicans kept control of the chamber. Only 38% say it’s a good thing the GOP controls the House, a 13-point dive from the end of last year.

New Poll: Another Record in Republican Disapproval

A new high of 74 percent of Americans disapprove of the way the Republicans in Congress are handling Washington’s budget crisis, up significantly in the past two weeks and far exceeding disapproval of both President Obama and congressional Democrats on the issue.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll finds that criticism of the GOP’s handling of the budget dispute has grown by 11 percentage points since just before the partial government shutdown began, from 63 to 70 and now 74 percent – clearly leaving the party with the lion’s share of blame. Indeed 54 percent now “strongly” disapprove.

By contrast, 53 percent disapprove of Obama’s work on the issue, essentially flat since the crisis came to a head and a broad 21 points lower than disapproval of the Republicans. Fewer, as well, strongly disapprove of Obama’s performance, 39 percent.

The Democrats in Congress, for their part, remain positioned between the two: Sixty-one percent disapprove of their handling of budget talks in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, unchanged from last week and up 5 points from the week before.

Poll: Republican Party Badly Damaged by Government Shutdown

The Republican Party has been badly damaged in the ongoing government shutdown and debt limit standoff, with a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finding that a majority of Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown, and with the party’s popularity declining to its lowest level.

By a 22-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent), the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Barack Obama – a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96.

Just 24 percent of respondents have a favorable opinion about the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable view of the Tea Party, which are both at all-time lows in the history of poll.

And one year until next fall’s midterm elections, American voters prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress to a Republican-controlled one by eight percentage points (47 percent to 39 percent), up from the Democrats’ three-point advantage last month (46 percent to 43 percent).

New Poll – Support for Obamacare Goes Up

The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll is just an endless horror show for Republicans. Obama’s approval is up; Republican Party approval is down; confidence in the economic recovery has plummeted thanks to the budget standoff; and voters blame Republicans for the government shutdown by a margin of 53-31.

Virtually everyone who’s not a hardcore dittohead blames the GOP. What’s more, 73 percent of the public thinks the shutdown is a serious problem and 31 percent have been personally affected.

But none of that is a big surprise. Here’s something that is: After a week of 24/7 media coverage about the problems with the rollout of Obamacare, its popularity has gone up. It’s still not doing gangbusters or anything, but it’s pretty interesting that an awful lot of people who previously had no opinion are now feeling pretty positive about it. Is this because they or someone they know has actually gone on line and discovered that there are pretty good deals available? I don’t know. But something has changed their minds

Poll: Americans Prefer Hemorrhoids and Toenail Fungus Over Congress

There is a cysts on the ass of Congress, and the scientific name for it is Republican.

This Republican cyst is so freaking annoying, that given the choice, most Americans would prefer to deal with a hemorrhoid or toenail fungus.

This is what the new PPP poll found.

Voters say they have a higher opinion of hemorrhoids than Congress, by 53% to 31%. More than seven in 10 voters say they view jury duty more favorably than Congress, which musters only 18% support in that comparison. Even toenail fungus rates 3 percentage points higher Congress.

Overall, voters in PPP’s telephone poll gave Congress an 8% approval rating. Nearly nine in 10 voters, or 86%, say they disapprove of Congress — which is in line with a recent CNN survey.

“Congress having an 8% approval rating tells us one thing about how unhappy voters are,” said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling. “But it’s even more telling that voters have a lower opinion of it than annoyances like the DMV and jury duty, health issues like hemorrhoids, and even witches.”

Poll: Americans Strongly oppose The Republican Engineered Shutdown

The poll taken by Quinnipiac shows that by a 3-1 margin, Americans all over this nation disagree with the government shutdown and how the Republicans have been systematically bringing this nation to its knees.

American voters oppose 72 – 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

Voters also oppose 64 – 27 percent blocking an increase in the nation’s debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

Poll: Republicans Will Be Blamed for Government Shutdown

The poll also finds that more Americans think Republicans are acting like spoiled children.

A CNN/ORC International poll released Monday morning, hours before funding for the government is scheduled to run out, also indicates that most Americans think Republicans in Congress are acting like spoiled children in this fiscal fight, with the public divided on whether the president is acting like a spoiled child or a responsible adult.

…..

According to the poll, which was conducted Friday through Sunday, 46% say they would blame congressional Republicans for a government shutdown, with 36% saying the president would be more responsible and 13% pointing fingers at both the GOP in Congress and Obama.

“The number who would hold congressional Republicans responsible has gone down by 5 points since early September, and the number who would blame Obama is up 3 points in that same time,” said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “Those changes came among most demographic groups.”

The CNN poll is similar to a CBS News/New York Times survey released late last week that indicated 44% blaming congressional Republicans and 35% pointing fingers at the president. Two other polls conducted in the past week and a half, from Pew Research Center and United Technologies/National Journal, showed a much closer margin but their questions mentioned Republicans in general rather than the GOP in Congress.

New Poll: Republicans Are Gaining Support among Voters

It’s like the battered woman syndrome. Americans keep running back to their economic abusers.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll is showing some worrisome trends. Americans are beginning to trust the Republicans more than Democrats on  issues they’ve proven to know nothing about. Issues like the economy, where Republicans have blocked progress time and time again by defeating numerous jobs bills, deficit reduction and foreign policy, Americans are putting more faith in Republicans.

“Republicans are now rated higher than Democrats on handling the economy and foreign policy, and the GOP’s lead has strengthened on several other issues, including dealing with the federal deficit and ensuring a strong national defense. On topics such as health care, Democrats have seen their long-standing advantage whittled to lows not seen in years.”

Poll: Americans Agree With Obama – 79% Prefer Congressional Approval on Syria

When it comes to taking military action against Syria, a strong majority of Americans think President Obama should be required to get congressional approval, according to an NBC News poll: specifically, 79 percent support congressional approval.

That number shows that, as in Congress itself, a substantial number who would require congressional approval are surely Republicans who just don’t think this president should ever have the authority to do anything on his own, but many are Democrats who have less cynical reasons (since the vast majority of reasons are less cynical than the Republican one).

On the question of whether the US should take military action, separate from the question of congressional approval, the numbers vary depending on what’s proposed. Asked “Do you think the United States should take military action against the Syrian government in response to the use of chemical weapons or not,” 42 percent are in favor while 50 percent are opposed. But when the military action is limited to “air strikes using cruise missiles launched from U.S. naval ships that were meant to destroy military units and infrastructure that have been used to carry out chemical attacks,” the numbers basically reverse: 50 percent are in favor while 44 percent are opposed. Still, in both cases support is weaker than the 58 percent support for the statement that “The use of chemical weapons by any country is a ‘red line,’ that is an action that would require a significant  U.S. response, including the possibility of military action.”
