Mitt Romney Vs. Hurricane Sandy – Video

Mitt Romney was once a believer that the human race may be contributing to climate change. He quickly changed his position when it was politically beneficial to him and he became an opponent of his previous position. Now, he’s even questioning the Federal Government’s role in providing help to victims of natural disasters.

President Obama on the other hand has made his position known about climate change, and much of his policies including his push for clean energy reflects that belief. During his acceptance speech at the Republican National Conference, Mitt Romney chose his time in the spotlight to joke about Mr. Obama’s climate change belief. Stepping to the podium to deliver his speech, Romney claimed that “president Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans, and to heal the planet.” Romney then said, “my promise is to help you and your family.”

Maybe Romney should stop lying to the American people about helping our families, and realize that the planet demands our immediate attention. President Obama is paying attention and his policies reflect the need to invest more in clean energy. And after the recent hurricane Sandy that hit the east coast, we can see once again, that President Obama’s approach is right.

This video should help.

Rick Perry Accepts Federal Emergency Help From President Obama

Information released today by the White House suggests that President Obama and Texas Governor Rick Perry recently had a telephone conversation, where the President offered FEMA’s help to the people of Texas affected by the wild fires. According to the news release;

Today the President called Texas Governor Rick Perry to express his concern for citizens of Texas impacted by the unprecedented fires.

During the call the President extended his condolences for the lives that have been lost as a result of these events, and made clear that the federal government, through DHS/FEMA and the U.S. Forest Service, will continue to make federal assistance available to state and local officials as they fight the fires.

The President also assured the Governor that requests for additional assistance, including as recovery begins, would be quickly assessed.

Following the call, the President directed his national security staff to continue to work closely with FEMA, the Forest Service and the State of Texas to ensure we were making all resources available.

Over the last several days, at the request of the Governor, the Administration has granted eight Fire Management Assistance Grants, making federal funds available to reimburse eligible costs associated with efforts to combat the fires.

FEMA is actively working with state and local officials to conduct damage assessments and to identify areas where additional federal assistance may be warranted.

This, after all the times Rick Perry has denounced the very existence of FEMA, and his many times promising to end the Federal Emergency Program. This dude is simply unbelievable.

Cantor Prefers Debate Instead Of Helping American Citizens

Putting politics ahead of the American people, RepubliCON Eric Cantor earlier this week called for more debates and disagreements on where to get relief for the victims of Hurricane Irene. If Cantor had his way, Washington politicians, who can’t even seem to agree on what day it is, will have months of debates before finding the necessary funds to help Americans in need.

Well the American people are speaking out, and below is a video released by moveon.org, perfectly expressing the disgust and disappointment Americans have in this new RepubliCON party.

This Is A Leader – Watch President Obama At F.E.M.A Headquarters

Remember Hurricane Katrina and the Bush disaster that was created when his FEMA organization sat back and watch people suffer while others died? Well that was a complete failure in leadership, starting at the FEMA level and moving all the way up to President Bush himself.

“This is not a FEMA operation. I haven’t seen a single FEMA guy”, said New Orleans’s emergency operations chief Terry Ebbert. “FEMA has been here three days, yet there is no command and control. We can send massive amounts of aid to tsunami victims, but we can’t bail out the city of New Orleans.”

Contrast that to the new head of FEMA, W. Craig Fugate and his boss, President Obama. Before Hurricane Irene touched land in North Carolina, President Obama cancelled the last day of his vacation and headed back to Washington. The President and Mr. Fugate spoke with the various govornors along the states in Irene’s way, and already began placing FEMA relief efforts in place.

The video below prompted the following twitter comment, comparing the two Presidents response to these disasters. This comment was retweeted multiple times, as other twitter users agreed with what was said;

See the video of a true Commander in action.

In A Ron Paul Administration, Disaster Victims Are On Their Own

Ron Paul is running for President on the Republican ticket. Let’s just say for argument’s sake, that Ron Paul wins his party’s nomination and goes on to win the Presidency in 2012. I know, it’s far-fetched, but let’s just say… If Ron Paul becomes president, his government will not help out when there are natural disasters.

With Hurricane Irene quickly approaching the east coast, this report was filed concerning Paul’s plan to handle such disasters;

After a lunch speech today, Ron Paul slammed the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, and said that no national response to Hurricane Irene is necessary.

“We should be like 1900; we should be like 1940, 1950, 1960,” Paul said. “I live on the gulf coast, we deal with hurricanes all the time. Galveston is in my district.

“There’s no magic about FEMA. They’re a great contribution to deficit financing and quite frankly they don’t have a penny in the bank. We should be coordinated but coordinated voluntarily with the states,” Paul told NBC News. “A state can decide. We don’t need somebody in Washington.”

FEMA is a Federal Emergency Management Agency whose job is to  assist local governments when they need help recovering from disasters. But according to Paul, FEMA is a “great contribution to the deficit.” Pay no attention to the real American lives this agency saves all the time.

And Ron Paul is not the only Republican who believes in money over human lives. Eric Cantor also shares Paul’s views, and even said that if any monies are spent to save or help Americans in the recent Earthquake and the upcoming Hurricane, then that money must be offset by spending cuts.

So to conclude, your home, your livelihood and even your life may hang in the balance, but Cantor will need to go to Washington first, figure out how much to cut from another program, preferably Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, then apply those newly cut funds to helping disaster victims.

Paul on the other hand, would prefer the government to just sit on its hands and watch the citizens suffer.

Welcome to a Republican controlled America. Good thing its just make believe.
