In what is seen as an admission that MH370 will never be found, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said today that the surface search was being scaled back because it is ‘highly unlikely’ clues will be found on the surface of the Indian Ocean
Instead, the search will enter a new phase with the focus on the ocean floor – despite there being no ‘pings’ from what was earlier hoped were the aircraft’s black boxes.
Mr Abbott said that as the aircraft, which had 239 people on board, has been missing for 52 days, if there had been any debris from the aircraft it would have now sunk.
‘By this stage, 52 days into the search, most material would have become waterlogged and sunk’ said Mr Abbott.
He paid tribute to the ‘tremendous work’ of air crews from eight nations who have contributed to the search.
His words were seen as virtually admitting that the search had little prospect of finding the aircraft, particularly as a concentrated hunt by the undersea search vehicle Bluefin-21 in a ‘likely area’ had found nothing.
Howard Kurtz built a name for himself as a media critic when he was employed at CNN. So his decision to work for the pits at Fox News was mind-boggling to say the least. But something happened over at Fox that has Howard pointing fingers and naming names, reminiscent of his days at CNN. And that something is Cliven Bundy!
Clive Bundy it seemed had an open invitation to appear on any Fox News show he chose, at any time he wanted. Bundy you may recall, is the Navada rancher who has broken the law for over 20 years and just because he broke the laws, was crowned a hero by Fox News and the Republican party. Bundy then got the support of militia groups calling themselves “Patriots.” These “patriots” came armed with guns with one goal – to make sure Bundy continue breaking the law.
But as fate would have it, Bundy is also a racist.
According to the New York Times and verified by a video of the man himself talking, Bundy has some rather racist views about black people. On the video, Bundy was seen and heard saying that blacks would have been better off under slavery, because all they do nowadays is sit on their porch waiting for a government handout and aborting their babies… and putting their men in jail!
After his views were publicized, Fox News – the same folks who had Bundy on camera so much, he could have shared office space with Bill O’ Reilly – Fox decided that the best way to handle their racist hero was to ignore the story.
For over 9 hours after the Bundy’s racism surfaced, Fox News stayed silent. Even shutting down a Democrat when he tried to mention Bundy’s name on air.
Howard Kurtz decided that he would be the voice of reason and pointed out the hypocrisy of his employer and his fellow co workers for trying to keep the story from their loyal viewers. On his Sunday show, Kurtz took them to task!
“In my view, Fox News fell seriously short on this story on Thursday,” Kurtz said. “All day long until Special Report at 6 p.m. ET, there was virtually no mention of these racist remarks by Cliven Bundy when everybody else was covering it.”
“And I think that to ignore a major story that was on the front page of The New York Times at a time when the network, among others, had devoted a lot of time to covering this story and to building up Cliven Bundy, I think that gives ammunition to Fox’s detractors.”
So true Howard, but Fox’s silence on this matter is just one of thousands, maybe millions of other areas where ammunition presents itself for, as you say, “detractors.”
Another famous black person is speaking out on the racist remarks allegedly made by the owner of the LA Clippers. In addition to Snoop and Labron James, President Obama, in a news conference with other leaders in Malaysia was asked to weigh in on the racist rants attributed to Donald Sterling, as broadcast by TMZ Sports. The president called the speaker in the audio ignorant, saying “when ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t have to do anything, you just let them talk.”
Personally, I think all the black players in the NBA including the ones playing for the LA Clippers and their fans, should boycott the LA Clippers. If the racism expressed by Donald Sterling turns out to be true and he prefer blacks not come to his games, then shouldn’t that include the players?
I think it should. The way you hurt rich racists is in their wallet. A black boycott of the Clippers will not end Sterling’s racism, but it may starve the bastard for the duration.
Before taking on the Charlotte Bobcats in Game 3 of Miami’s first-round playoff series, James said that if the report is true, then “there is no room for Donald Sterling in our league.”
“It’s unacceptable and as a commissioner in our league, they have to make a stand, and they have to be very aggressive with it. I don’t know what it’s going to be, but you just can’t have that in our league,” James said, via the Miami Herald. The four-time NBA MVP also said he even contemplated not playing. “I kind of wavered back and forth whether I would actually sit out. If our owner would come out and say the things that he said, I would really have to sit down with my teammates, talk to my family because at the end of the day, our family, and our teammates are way more important than that.”
James also wondered aloud what would happened to a player who “came out and said something of that stature” and called on NBA commissioner Adam Silver to “do something very fast and quickly before this really gets out of hand.”
LeBron was not alone. TNT analyst and former NBA star Charles Barkley said Silver”suspend [Sterling] and fine him immediately.” Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson described Sterling’s alleged remarks as a “black eye for the NBA.”
In case you haven’t heard, the owner of the LA Clippers is trying to outracist the racist Cliven Bundy. News today from TMZ Sports had audio of the owner, Donald Sterling telling his girlfriend, “don’t bring black people to my games!”
Well, black people have ears to hear and sometimes we use them well. BlackTwitter went nuts dogging the racist and they didn’t leave anything unsaid. But when it comes to dogging someone, no one does it better than the head DOGG himself, straight from the doggpound – Snoop Dogg!
In an instagram message, Snoop addressed the racist Sterling, calling him a “bitch A** redneck, white-bread, chicken sh*t mother fu*ker!” And that’s just part of what he had to say!

When police arrested 19-year-old Dallas Archer of Tennessee for driving with a suspended license, a female corrections officer alerted to an “unknown object” in the teenager’s crotch during a search.
The jailer and a female cop then accompanied Archer to a bathroom for further examination, a review that led to the recovery of a “North American Arms 22 LR revolver (loaded) which Ms. Dallas had concealed in her vagina,” according to a Kingsport Police Department report.
Archer, seen in the above mug shot, was charged with gun possession and introducing contraband into a penal facility. According to a jail official, Archer was released from custody after posting $6000 bond.
Pharrell’s “Happy” song is loved worldwide by millions, including Courtney Ann Sanford from High Point, N.C. Her deadly mistake was posting how much she loved the song while driving.
At 8:33, Courtney Ann Sanford shared on her Facebook:
“The Happy Song makes me so HAPPY.”
At 8:34, the High Point Police Department was called with a report of the crash. Further investigation into Sanford’s online activity revealed she was also taking frequent selfies as she drove down the highway.

In a flyer sent to Emmy voters, the star of the popular cartoon is seen holding a couple of traffic cones – a scene taken directly from Christie’s press conference when he awkwardly joked that he was the one putting down the cones for the lane closure at the George Washington Bridge.
A warning was issued in the flyer – “Vote for us, or it’s time for some traffic problems in Brentwood,” a Los Angeles neighborhood where many Emmy voters live.

L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been captured on tape going on a racist rant against Black people after his bi-racial girlfriend posted pictures of her and Black people on Instagram, reports TMZ.
Sterling’s girlfriend, V. Stiviano, who is Black and Mexican, posted a picture of herself with Magic Johnson, prompting Sterling to say that she was embarrassing him. He told Stiviano that she was supposed to be a “delicate” Latina and that he preferred not to think about her Blackness. He also told his girlfriend, who said that she could not be racist in her heart, that he does not want her to acknowledge Black people publicly.

Magic Johnson called Sterling’s remarks a “shame.”
“It’s a shame that Donald Sterling feels that way about African-Americans,” Johnson told TMZ.
“He has a team full of amazing African-American basketball players that are working to bring a championship to Clippers fans. The Clippers also have a strong minority fan base.”
Sterling has a documented history of allegedly racist behavior — he’s been sued twice by the federal government for allegedly refusing to rent apartments to Blacks and Latinos.
The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday sued [Sterling] for housing discrimination, claiming he refused to rent apartments to blacks and families with children.
Federal prosecutors contend that Sterling, his wife, Rochelle, and their family trust refused to rent to many prospective tenants, treated them poorly and misrepresented the availability of apartments to them in the city’s Koreatown section.
The defendants also are accused of refusing to rent to black prospective tenants in Beverly Hills as well as families with children looking to rent apartments that the defendants owned or managed in Los Angeles County.
“Here in Los Angeles, where housing is already at a premium, it is imperative that no one be denied housing simply because of their skin color, ethnic background or because they have children,” said U.S. Attorney Debra Wong Yang.
A message left with attorney Michael Kennick, who has represented Sterling in previous lawsuits, was not immediately returned Monday.
Claiming violations of the federal Fair Housing Act, the lawsuit seeks an end to “discriminating on account of race, national origin and familial status,” plus unspecified monetary damages and penalties. The lawsuit also names as defendants the Sterling Family Trust and the Korean Land Company, which owns multifamily rental properties throughout the county.
In November, a federal judge ordered Sterling to pay nearly $5 million in fees to plaintiffs’ attorneys in a lawsuit accusing him of discriminating against black and Hispanic tenants.
He was also sued by former Clippers exec Elgin Baylor for racial discrimination, TMZ reports.

Black Twitter Weighs In On Donald Sterling Remarks
The 19-year old pornstar who apparently agreed to be tossed off a roof by a Hollywood millionaire is now suing the man who did the tossing, Dan Blizerian.
Janice Griffith, who suffered a broken foot in the ordeal, told TMZ that her porn career has suffered since the rooftop incident, and she stated the cancelation of a photo shoot for the online adult entertainment website kink.com as an example.
In a twitter message to her 45,000 followers, Janice wrote – ‘I just want to get back to work… that’s my only concern. Anyone trying to book a gal with a broken foot?’
In another tweet she said: ‘I was looking forward to shooting for @SexAndSub SO bad today, stupid broken foot.’
It also appears that the pain in her foot is not only bad for business, but good for her thinking abilities. She told TMZ, “Looking back on it, it’s not the best idea we’ve ever had. It seems [sic] like a good idea at the time.”
She did not say if a lawyer was hired for the lawsuit.

A Georgia woman was sentenced to life in prison after she admitted to stabbing her sister to death with a steak knife.
Chakaya Brittney Folborg, 24, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to the murder of her adopted sister Kourtney Chanel Dyches in their Mableton home on Feb. 20, 2012, authorities said.
The sisters were both 21 years old at the time.
“It was straight up jealousy,” Sherwin Figueroa, assistant district attorney of Cobb County, told the Daily News. “It’s just wrong and it is what it is.”
Figueroa, who prosecuted the case, explained that Folborg was adopted as an infant from a woman with a crack problem in New York. At the time, their mother did not think she could get pregnant. Shortly after, she gave birth to Dyches.
As they aged, Dyches became a popular girl with lots of friends. But Folborg admitted that she felt like a failure.
The girls never talked about boys, entertainment or other light-hearted subjects as teenagers, according to Figueroa.
COBB COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICEKourtney Dyches was only 21 when she was stabbed to death in the shower of her Mableton, Ga., home by her own sister.
Officer Kim Isaza said the sisters had a lot of tension in part because they lived in such a small house — so small that their family members could hear Dyches’ final moments about 11 p.m. that day.
“The mother and their 12-year-old sister were on the other side of the bathroom door begging her to stop when they heard this,” Isaza told The News.
Dyches died before cops could get to the house, officers said.
“This victim was a vibrant young lady with the rest of her life ahead of her,” Figueroa said in a statement.
“The defendant, without any provocation, took a knife from the kitchen some two hours before the killing and waited until the victim was in the shower before viciously stabbing her at least six times.”
Folborg, who has been in jail since her arrest, will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
