Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic congresswoman who lost multiple limbs in war, is expecting her first child in December.
In a heart-warming segment on NBC’s Today show, the Illinois Democrat talked about her pregnancy in an interview with three other Iraq War veterans — all of them amputees who are either expecting or just had children. Duckworth calls the women her “Band of Sisters” and they have dubbed themselves the “Band of Mothers.”

Republicans – the party of “morals and family values,” and apparently hypocrites.
The Bill Cassidy Senate campaign announced Thursday that the candidate’s unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant as she prepares for her senior year at a Baton Rouge high school.
Cassidy, a Republican congressman from Baton Rouge, said in a statement provided NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune that his daughter faces “a more challenging future” and that she has his and his wife Laura’s unconditional support. The baby is expected later this summer.
Much like Sarah Palin, who announced that her own unmarried 17-year-old daughter was expecting just before she addressed the Republican National Convention as John McCain’s surprise 2008 vice presidential selection, the Cassidy campaign chose to pre-emptively disclose the information about their daughter’s pregnancy.
The Cassidy campaign provided this statement:
“Earlier this year, Laura and I learned we will become grandparents this summer. Our children have been the greatest blessing of our lives and we welcome our grandchild as a joyous addition to our family. Our daughter now faces a more challenging future than her peers. She has our unconditional love and support.”
The Republican outlet better known as the New York Post sank to a new low. In what they call at “letter” to Chelsea’s Fetus, the post parroted the usual nonsense from the Republicans and from Fox News, calling the pregnancy “campaign asset” and “stage prop” for “Lady Pantsuit'”

Before you were even born your mommy’s mommy pretended that it’s a completely normal thing to announce your own grandchild’s birth to the world at a joint press appearance with your mom, hosted on Skype and live-streamed. With America Ferrera!

This is the news the far right-wing nuts are interested in and it is why they diligently tune into Fox. Where else would you hear stuff like Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy is a political ploy for the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign?
On Sunday, Fox talking head Laura Ashburn, speaking to Fox’s Howard Kurtz, explained that being cynical about Chelsea’s pregnancy is a good thing because… Hillary!
“You’ve been in this town for how many years, and you don’t have a cynical bone in your body?” Ashburn said to Kurtz. “I think a lot of reporters think maybe this was planned.”
She later continued;
“We do have to realize that this is Hillary Clinton, she’s most likely running for president. It hasn’t been good for her. A lot of people say she’s too old. And so, there is coverage.”

He knew what he was about to say made no sense, but the Newsmax conservative host Steve Malzberg went ahead and made his dumb statement anyway.
“Now pardon the skeptic in me,” Malzberg said. “Oh I can see Media Matters, I can see everybody going crazy on me now. Malzberg thinks this was a staged, planned pregnancy?”
“Well, now I’m not saying, when I say staged I have to believe she’s pregnant, if she says she’s pregnant. I don’t mean that they’re making up she’s pregnant. But what great timing! I mean purely accidental, purely an act of nature, purely just left up to God.”
“And God answered Hillary Clinton’s prayers and she’s going to have the prop of being a new grandma while she runs for president,” he added. “It just warms the heart, it brings a tear to my eye. It really does.”
To these Republican nut jobs, everything is political.

In a joint appearance with her mom Hillary Clinton, daughter Chelsea made the announcement that she and her husband Marc were expecting their first child this year.
“I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,” Chelsea Clinton said, according to the Washington Post.
Former president Bill Clinton took to Twitter and expressed his excitement with this tweet:
“Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio…grandfather-to-be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!” he wrote.
“I’m so excited! I’m a few months along, I can’t wait to be a mom!” the rapper, 39, told Us Weekly.
(AP) — Michael Jordan’s wife Yvette has given birth to the couple’s identical twin daughters, Jordan’s spokeswoman Estee Portnoy told The Associated Press.
Portnoy said Tuesday that Yvette Jordan, 35, gave birth to Victoria and Ysabel on Sunday in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Yvette Jordan and the babies are doing well and the family is overjoyed at their arrival,” Portnoy said.
Jordan, widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, is now the owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, who are currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and have a chance to make the playoffs for the first time since he took over as majority owner in 2010.
Jordan, who turns 51 next Monday, married former model Yvette Prieto on April 27 of last year in Palm Beach, Florida The reception took place at a private golf club in Jupiter, Florida, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Jordan owns a home near the course.
The couple met six years ago.
Jordan has three children — two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Marcus James, and a daughter, Jasmine — with former wife Juanita Vanoy. They divorced in 2006.
Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and was a 14-time All-Star and five-time league MVP.
A two-month saga ended today in Fort Worth, Texas when a hospital deactivated the ventilator that was keeping a brain-dead pregnant woman alive. Officials at John Peter Smith Hopsital did so on the order of a judge, who sided with the woman’s family.
Marlise Munoz had been attached to a ventilator that was keeping her heart and lungs working since late November, when her husband found her unconscious in their kitchen. Doctors declared Munoz brain-dead and her family insisted that she did not wish to be kept alive artificially, but Texas law stated that the hospital had to keep her body working because she was carrying a fetus.
The fetus, at 14 weeks, was not viable. But Texas’ draconian laws and views regarding how to handle pregnancies meant that Munoz and her family had to endure a situation they had no interest in being a part of. “May Marlise Munoz finally rest in peace, and her family find the strength to complete what has been an unbearably long and arduous journey,” said the family’s lawyers in a statement.
We’re still trying to figure out who Mitt Romney is. With all his shifting positions moving from severely conservative to endorsing the president’s foreign policies, it is fair to say that Mitt Romney is still trying to figure out Mitt Romney.
But when Mitt Romney makes an official endorsement, it is a good indication of what Mitt Romney believes and stands for.
Mitt Romney officially endorsed Richard Mourdock. Richard Mourdock thinks that a pregnancy that results from rape is God’s doing.

Trying to distance himself from the “legitimate rape” comment that Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) made last week, Pennsylvania Senate candidate Tom Smith (R) stirred up further controversy by comparing a pregnancy caused by rape to “having a baby out of wedlock.”
Smith said Monday at the Pennsylvania Press Club that although he condemns Akin’s comment, he agrees with Akin that abortion should be banned without any exceptions, including for rape and incest victims. Pressed by a reporter on how he would handle a daughter or granddaughter becoming pregnant as a result of rape, Smith said he had already “lived something similar to that” in his family.
“She chose life, and I commend her for that,” he said. “She knew my views. But, fortunately for me, I didn’t have to … she chose the way I thought. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t rape.”
When a reporter asked Smith to clarify what kind of situation was similar to becoming pregnant from rape, the candidate responded, “Having a baby out of wedlock.”
He added, “Put yourself in a father’s position. Yes, it is similar.”
