According to his wife Christi, 56-year old John Gibson – a pastor and professor in New Orléans – struggled with addiction and depression in the past. And on August 24th after it was revealed by hackers that he frequented the cheaters website Ashley Madison, Christi found him dead in their home.
“It was a moment that life doesn’t prepare you for,” Christi told CNN. “How do you tell your kids that their dad is gone and that he took his own life?”
Christi also told CNN Gibson left a suicide note with an apology—she didn’t say what for, but the note did mention Ashley Madison. She also said her husband had struggled with addiction and depression in the past.
Gibson was set to teach classes at the New Orléans Baptist Theological Seminary the day after his death, but since the Seminary’s president announced Gibson’s death on Twitter, students and other teachers have been mourning him on Facebook.
I’m wondering how long it took this so-called pastor to come up with this one. A claim without facts is not just an accusation, it is a lie. But that didn’t stop Rev. James David Manning of New York from making his baseless, fact less claim.
In a YouTube video posted on Tuesday, Atlah World Missionary Church Rev. James David Manning said that he had displayed the following sign outside his Harlem church: ”Obama has released the homo demons on the black man. Look out black woman. A white homo may take your man.”
“Obama has released these demons, particularly upon the black males,” he explained. “This homosexual demon, hoping to influence as many black males to subscribe to ideas that homosexual perverted LGBT as possible.”
As evidence, Manning pointed to the “outing” of basketball player Jason Collins and football player Michael Sam.
“I have noticed that Obama is influencing the few black men that are left to come out of the closet — or be homosexual — and they are being scooped up by white homos, leaving the black woman in more dire straits and with less of a choice of a man to come and be her husband, and father her children,” he said.
Pastor Steven Andrew on Tuesday night delivered “God’s State of the Union” address in response to President Barack Obama’s speech to the nation.
The conservative pastor of USA Christian Ministries called on Americans to serve the God of the Bible rather than false gods if they wished to receive his blessings and see their nation’s prosperity restored.
“We want to seek God with all of our heart and soul,” Andrew said. “We want to obey the Holy Bible with all of our heart and soul, and we want Jesus as our king. This is how you restore God’s blessings. People like Barack Obama have a totally different vision of America. His vision is to follow Satan.”
It is clear Obama is following Satan, according to the pastor, because he is openly encouraging “homosexual sin” and violating God’s unalienable rights “by forcing people to have death panels.”
He described Obama as a covetous liar who was not a part of the “Kingdom of God.”
Proclaiming Jesus as the Lord of the United States could also solve the nation’s financial troubles, Andrew said.
“Americans right now are suffering. There is great economic problems in the United States of America. We have the biggest debt in the world. How is this going to go away? This debt is going to go away by humbling ourselves before the Lord and not by serving Mammon but by putting Jesus Christ first.”
This story is wrong on so many levels, that it’s almost unreal. A pastor in Florida was arrested Tuesday (May 14) for allegedly watching child porn during his shift at Disney World.
Cedric Cuthbert has served as pastor of the Historic St. James Methodist Episcopal Church for three years, and moonlit as a custodial manager at Disney World. It was there that the 49-year-old was busted for reportedly trying to solicit a minor, in addition to possessing the porn, Orange County Police said.
Cuthbert used his church computer to gain access to his disgusting fetish and tried the same move on the Disney World computer, but an Internet firewall got in the way. Officials at the theme park contacted authorities last month, after they learned that he was trying to access the sites.
Investigators found that Cuthbert used the same computer from his dirty viewing party, to pen two sermons. He also sent messages to young girls writing sick things like “you are so cute! Great sexy bodi! Send me a private vid.”
For now, the now ex-pastor is prohibited from working at any AME Church, pending a meeting to be held in September. The bishop of the district’s Florida AME churches apologized for Cuthbert’s behavior. “We are surprised and extremely disappointed by the alleged illicit behavior of the Reverend Cedric Cuthbert,” the statement read. The Eleventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church apologizes to all families and communities, especially the City of Sanford and the members of St. James AME Church, that have been hurt by Reverend Cuthbert’s alleged actions…Reverend Cuthbert has been relieved of all of his pastoral duties.”
Meanwhile, Cuthbert jumped in the apology game as well, writing a letter to Disney, according to the police affidavit.
He is barred from having any contact with children, aside from his 8-year-old and 10-year-old sons.
I’m at a loss of words on this one, so I’ll let the so-called “pastor” explain.
His rant on the roles of men and women really got interesting somewhere around the 51 minute mark in his sermon, where he went out of his way to explain that men are not better than women. But after making that point, Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona explained that he is a dictator in his home and that his wife is happy to play the submissive role. She “was born to be submissive and subject to me,” he said.

And, you know, you say, “Well, that’s not true, because I talk to all these women that are just, you know, they just want to be a feminist and stuff…” You know what? Here’s what I’ve found over the years: The women who are screaming the loudest that they want to be a feminist and that they don’t want a man telling them what to do, on the inside, are really screaming the loudest, please tell me what to do. Please put me in my place. And, you know what? If you don’t believe that? You’re just ignorant. It’s that simple.
And, yeah, I’m sure that there are some reprobate lesbians out there that have a different view. But let me tell you something: A normal woman, on the inside, wants to follow a leader. She wants to follow a husband. She wants a man there that she can look up to, not look down on…
GARDENDALE | A prominent Alabama pastor fatally shot his wife and wounded their 18-year-old daughter in their church-owned home before grabbing a kitchen knife and trying to stab himself to death, police said Friday.
The Rev. Terry Greer, 54, is being charged with murder in the slaying of 52-year-old Lisa Greer and attempted murder in the wounding of Suzanna Greer, a University of South Alabama student, according to police in Gardendale, a suburb about 10 miles north of Birmingham.
Greer is senior pastor at Gardendale-Mount Vernon United Methodist Church near Birmingham. Prominent in Methodist circles in the area, he leads a church with an average Sunday attendance of about 670.
After Greer opened fire on his wife and daughter Thursday, the teenager grabbed the gun and ran to a neighbor’s house to alert authorities, police said.
The minister then grabbed a kitchen knife and went to a bathroom, where he repeatedly stabbed himself in his chest and neck, police said. Responding officers stopped Greer and took him into custody.
I grew up in the Church. Before they passed, my father was a Preacher and my mom was an Evangelist. I am sure that makes me somewhat of an anomaly with Republicans, because I have a Christian background but I am a Democrat. This mixture confuses these Republicans because as far as they are concerned, you cannot be a Democrat and a believer in Christ at the same time. But I’m not here to pacify their confusion, so I’ll go on to the point of this blog.
It really irks me when I come across wolves in sheep’s clothing, that is, people who call themselves preachers but take to the pulpit and “preach” nothing but hate and ignorance. I’ve used past blog-posts to highlight some of the idiotic statements these “pastors” have made in the past and sadly, here is another.
His name is Pastor David Barton and part of his message to his congregation was that people are on welfare because they don’t read the Bible. “I really believe this,” Barton said. Here’s his full statement;
Wouldn’t it be interesting to do a study between those that are on welfare and see how much and how often they read the Bible. You know, if Booker T. Washington is right that Christianity and reading the Bible increases your desires and therefore your ability for hard work; if we take that as an axiom, does that mean that the people who are getting government assistance spend nearly no time in the Bible, therefore have no desire, and therefore no ability for hard work? I could go a lot of places with this. I would love to see this proven out in some kind of sociological study, but it makes perfect sense.
While real preachers use the Bible to get their sermons, Barton – a Conservative Republican – allows his politics to dictate what and how he preach. Too bad he hasn’t paid attention to a particular political document by one of the Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson – the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the United States – who in 1802 wrote, “… I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.”
“I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers,” he says.
“Build a great, big, large fence — 150- or 100-mile long — put all the lesbians in there . . . do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out.
“Feed ’em, and you know what?” Worley continues. “In a few years they’ll die. Do you know why? They can’t reproduce.”
Those comments were made by a pastor… in the church… on the pulpit… where preaching about the everlasting love of Christ was supposed to be done. His name is Pastor Charles Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, N.C, and his sermon on May 13th about killing gays and lesbians was apparently his way of saving them.
