Debbie Wasserman Schultz Resigns from DNC

Bernie Sanders was right all along. Seems the DNC was in it for Hillary Clinton from the start. With the recent Wiki-Leaks publication proving Sanders’ point, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has announced she will step down as chair of the DNC.

In a statement Sunday, Schultz said the best way to accomplish the election of Clinton is to relinquish her chairmanship when the Democratic National Convention comes to a close Thursday night. But in a sign the Florida congresswoman is still determined to be heard before what could be a crowd of hostile delegates, she also indicated she still planned to speak.

“As party chair, this week I will open and close the convention and I will address our delegates about the stakes involved in this election not only for Democrats, but for all Americans,” she said.

Schultz’s imminent departure casts a cloud over the start of the Democrats’ four-day convention as it underlines the remaining divisions between the liberal supporters of Bernie Sanders and the party establishment that’s been loyal to Clinton. DNC vice chair Donna Brazile, a longtime party activist and consultant, will serve as interim chair through the November election.

Over 229,000 Sign Petition Demanding DNC Give Bernie His Database Back

The story just broke like hours ago, but already, there are well over 229,000 signatures on a petition demanding DNC Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz take her finger off the scale for Hillary Clinton and give Bernie Sanders access to his database.

According to the petition;

We demand that DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz immediately reinstate the Bernie Sanders campaign’s access to the DNC’s 50-state voter file, which is crucial for voter outreach in the last weeks before the first Democratic caucuses. Shutting down Sanders’ tools to reach voters is an infringement on democracy.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who heads the Democratic National Committee, undoubtedly made the call to suspend Bernie Sanders’ access to the DNC’s 50-state voter file in the wake of a software glitch that a Sanders staffer had previously reported on multiple occasions. With just 6 weeks to go before the Iowa caucuses and less than 2 months before the New Hampshire primary, the Sanders campaign needs this voter file more than ever to reach a maximum number of voters. Withholding access to this critical information at such a critical time for the campaign is equivalent to sabotage.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Smacks Down Newt Gingrich on War On Women

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s (R) awkward attempt to link Vice President Joe Biden to the GOP’s policies against womens’ reproductive health was smacked down hard by Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) on Tuesday.

“Democrats like to complain about a Republican ‘war on women,’” Gingrich said on Crossfire, before mentioning Biden’s visit to a Japanese e-commerce company, DeNA, in which Biden asked a group of women working there if their husbands “like them working full-time,” if they were married, and if they were allowed to work from home.

“How do you explain Biden’s inability to stay in touch with reality?” Gingrich asked Wasserman Schultz, who expressed amazement that Gingrich would link the “war on women” term with Biden, the author of the Violence Against Women Act, which was been staunchly opposed by Republicans even after passing in the House in February 2013.

“Your party spent two years holding back on bringing the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act to the floor,” Wasserman Schultz responded. “Your party has nominated, consistently, the likes of [Pennsylvania Gov. Tom] Corbett in Pennsylvania, who famously said, ‘Well, if women don’t want to have an ultrasound when they have an abortion, they can just close their eyes.’”

Schultz also pointed out that another Republican, Virginia Attorney General nominee Mark Obenshain, introduced legislation four years ago that would have required pregnant women to report a miscarriage to authorities.

“If you want to talk about the war on women — and that’s just a couple of examples –” Schultz said, before getting cut off by Gingrich.

“I understand your version of reality,” Gingrich shot back, before being interrupted himself by co-host Stephanie Cutter.

“That’s not a version of reality, Newt,” Cutter chimed in. “Those are facts.”

Thuggish Allen West Refuses To Apologize. Fund-raises Instead.

The Republican thug who, for absolutely no valid reason, criticized and defamed Debbie Wasserman Schultz, went on Fox Business News on Thursday and flat-out said he will not be apologizing to Mrs. Schultz. When asked about the possibility of an apology, Allen West replied;

“That is not happening. This is a pattern I referred to in that email that goes back to 2010. Finally I think I have the right to stand up and defend my honor and make sure that this type of activity does cease. I sent her a private email, she decided to make it public by releasing it to the news media.”

A day before, the so-called congressman told a reporter from the Huffington Post that he did in fact apologize to Schultz, but later, his team released a statement saying that it did not happen.

Amazingly, Allen West is using this occasion to fund raise, telling his defenders that it’s “moments like this”  when he needs “friends.”

Subject: Vile, Despicable, and Unprofessional

Those three words sum up my feelings about Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.

By now, you’ve probably heard the story. But I wanted you to hear it from me. Yesterday, on the floor of the House, I publicly expressed my support for “Cut, Cap, and Balance” –the leading conservative proposal to help us get our spiraling debt and spending under control.

Once I left the floor, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (DNC Chair) –who it seems does little except act as an attack dog for the “vast left wing conspiracy” –attacked me personally for supporting the legislation.

It’s not a coincidence that she is the Chairwoman of the DNC and that the Democrats are making me target #1 for defeat. In a discussion of grave importance to this nation’s future, she somehow finds time to try to score political points. And she doesn’t have the guts to do it to my face!

Episodes like these show that her agenda isn’t to improve the lives of Floridians or to stand on principle. She’s an attack dog for the liberal, progressive wing of the Democratic Party –plain and simple. And it’s times like this that I need friends with me.

Allen West To Debbie Wasserman-Schultz – “You Want A Personal Fight?”

Allen West wrote a scalding letter to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, calling her the “most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the US House of Representatives.” The Republican congressman was responding to what he thought was an attack from Schultz, when she took to the floor of the House today, after West had spoken.

The discussion was about the Republicans Cut, Cap and Balance legislation, one that West supports. Debbie’s only mistake, was apparently questioning “the gentleman’s” support for the legislation.

“The gentleman from Florida, who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries, unbelievable from a Member from South Florida,” Wasserman Schultz said. She made the point that the legislation “slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for Big Oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas.”

Although Schultz did not mention West by name, West showed his total lack of decency and attacked Debbie in this letter, posted below.

Republicans And Their Jim Crow Ways

Former President Bill Clinton just figured out what the Republicans are doing. In a speech to a liberal group at the Campus Progress’s annual conference in Washington on Wednesday, Mr. Clinton broke the news – the Republicans are trying to disenfranchise minority voters.

“I can’t help thinking since we just celebrated the Fourth of July and we’re supposed to be a country dedicated to liberty that one of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators to keep most of you from voting next time.

“There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today.

“They [Republicans] are trying to make the 2012 electorate look more like the 2010 electorate than the 2008 electorate,” Clinton added, referencing the dip in youth voter turnout in the 2010 elections. “Are you fighting? You should be fighting it.”

Jim Crow laws were enacted in the United States for almost 100 years, from 1876 to 1965. The laws were responsible for what was called, “separate but equal,” – a doctrine that demanded separate facilities be set up for blacks and whites, from restaurants to restrooms to drinking fountains to schools and other public places. Jim Crow laws also implemented stiff fines and fees, designed to keep blacks from voting.

So far, 13 Republican governed states have changed their voter registration laws, including Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida and Texas. And although these Republican governors wouldn’t admit to it, the reasoning for making voting more difficult in these states is to discourage the minority vote.

But Clinton is not the first to call out the Republicans on their Jim Crow-like efforts to keep the minority vote away from the polls. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Democratic Committee Chairman told CNN back in June that Republicans “want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws.”

Mrs. Schultz eventually apologize for using the words “Jim Crow,” what she called, ” the wrong analogy to use,” but the fact still remains the same – trying to make voting more difficult for a particular group of people, whether its 1911 or 2011, whether it’s through fines or changing voting laws to disenfranchise this group, the words Jim Crow in my view, are very appropriate.
