Bill DeBlasio on Rudy Giuliani – His “Political Trick” is “Absolutely Pitiful”

The current mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, called out the ignorant rhetoric of former mayor Rudy Giuliani today, calling Giuliani’s dumb political claim that the President doesn’t love America, “absolutely pitiful.

“Rudy Giuliani decided to attack the President’s love of his own country, his patriotism, his devotion to the United States of America. It’s absolutely – I think it’s pitiful,” Mayor de Blasio told reporters.

“I find it a cheap political trick for Rudy Giuliani to question the President’s love of the country. That is just – that is stooping very, very low, even for him,” de Blasio said.

De Blasio and other Democrats were responding to the former mayor’s comments on Wednesday night.

“I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that this President loves America,” Giuliani said at a dinner for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who’s considering a run for the White House.

Obama, Giuliani told those gathered at Manhattan’s 21 Club, “doesn’t love you. He doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up: To love this country.”

Bill de Blasio to Corporations – Time to Pay a Living Wage

New York City’s new mayor, Bill DeBlasio, has had enough of big corporations taking advantage of the city’s welfare system by paying notoriously low wages.

“If we’re subsidizing companies, we have every right to demand a living wage for the people they pay,” DeBlasio told WNYC’s Brian Lehrer on Monday.

DeBlasio is referring to the fact that millions of low wage workers depend on public assistance, like food stamps, to get by. A report in October found that American taxpayers shell out $3.8 billion per year to subsidize worker pay at the country’s top 10 largest fast food chains.

In October, de Blasio stood with fast-food workers in New York City who were protesting for higher wages. “The bottom line is, this is an unsupportable situation where every day hard-working people can’t make ends meet, and the companies involved certainly can do more,” he said.

The mayor is expected to soon introduce legislation expanding living wage protections in New York. Under a proposal introduced during his campaign this past summer, de Blasio would raise the wage for employees at companies receiving city subsidies — including some retail and fast-food restaurants — to $11.75 an hour with benefits.

Bill de Blasio Taunts Dante on Toboggan Slide – Video

New York’s Mayor Bill de Blasio took his family to 42nd Street today – renamed Super Bowl Ave – and unleashed a series of taunts on his high afro son Dante after the two took a slide down the 6 stories Toboggan Run.

“Score one for the older generation,” the mayor said in excitement after the two raced down the slide and what appeared to be a win. “Victory for the parents! You got nothing! You got height and you got hair, but you got nothing else!”

The family, along with members of de Blasio’s administration took multiple rides on the slide with the mayor taunting all the way.

Mike Bloomberg Calls Bill de Blasio’s Campaign Racist

Bill de Blasio and family

New York’s mayor Michael Bloomberg has jumped into the mix, calling Bill de Blasio’s campaign racist.

Bill de Blasio is the leading New York democratic mayoral candidate trying to get Bloomberg’s job.

In an interview with New York magazine, Mr. Bloomberg said he considered it racist of Mr. de Blasio to promote his mixed-race family. Mr. de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, is black and their teenage son, Dante, appears in his father’s campaign ads.

Mr. Bloomberg added that he did not think that Mr. de Blasio was a racist. But he said, “It’s comparable to me pointing out that I’m Jewish in attracting the Jewish vote.”

At an appearance in Brooklyn on Saturday with his wife and their 18-year-old daughter, Chiara, Mr. de Blasio called Mr. Bloomberg’s remarks “very, very unfortunate and inappropriate.”

“I’m exceedingly proud of my family,” he added. “I hope the mayor will reconsider what he said. I hope he realizes it was inappropriate.”

In her response to the mayor’s comments about her husband’s campaign, Ms. McCray said, “Do I look like an inanimate object? Or a tool? I walk, I talk and make my own decisions.”

After Mr. Bloomberg used the word racist, his interviewer asked what he meant. The mayor tried to clarify his assessment by saying: “No, no, I mean he’s making an appeal using his family to gain support. I think it’s pretty obvious to anyone watching what he’s been doing.”
