Trump Backtracks from ‘Obama Coming for Your Guns’ Claim

Most of what Trump says is completely nonsense. But it is his nature to double and triple down on said nonsense when someone points out how wrong he is.

Except in this case.

On Monday, speaking to a group of supporters looking for their daily dose of red meat, Donald Trump offered them this nugget to feast on – Trump told them that President Obama “is thinking” about signing and executive order to take away their guns.

“You know, the President is thinking about signing an executive order where he wants to take your guns away. You hear about this? Not gonna happen. That won’t happen. But that’s a tough one, I think that’s a tough one for him to do. There’s plenty of executive orders being signed, you know that. And we can’t let that go on.”

Besides the fact that Trump is not a mind reader, doesn’t have a crystal ball and thus, cannot know what the president is thinking, Trump’s followers got their red meat and went away happy, filled with even more reasons to hate the President.

But someone in the media asked Trump to explain his sources. How the heck would he know what the president is thinking?

Then it hit him. Trump realized he was caught and tried to weasel his way out of the issue, telling the media that he probably heard about Obama’s thinking from the media itself. And he even called the media “good sources,” something Republicans are trained not to do.

Speaking on CNN, Trump answered the question about his sources this way;

“No, no. I’ve heard that he wants to. And I heard it, I think, on your network. Somebody said that that’s what he’s thinking about. I didn’t say that he’s signing it. I said I think that would be a tough one to sign actually. I would say it would be impossible. But nevertheless he was thinking about it. And I’ve heard it from numerous networks. And I’ve read it in the papers. You know. My source is the papers. So, you know, they’re pretty good sources.”

Meanwhile, as the red meat festers in their stomach, his base is sure to stockpile their weapons, waiting for the eventual war with Obama when he comes knocking.

President’s Immigration Plan includes a Temporary Stay for 5 Million Immigrants

President Obama is determined to get something done on immigration. And despite the threats from Republicans to block all his other policies if he does immigration alone, the president is insisting on doing the right thing.

Seated with 12 top members of the House and Senate in the Old Family Dining Room, Obama shot back that he intended to proceed, saying that he had already waited almost two years for congressional action on immigration. He added that his decision should not upend chances for cooperation on unrelated matters, according to aides familiar with the exchange.

The new focus on Obama’s plans to revamp the immigration system by executive fiat came as the president is reportedly reviewing proposals to allow as many as 5 million illegal immigrants to stay in the United States at least temporarily, according to several people familiar with his plans. He is expected to announce his intentions after returning from a visit to China, Burma and Australia, either this month or in early December, said those familiar with the subject, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not

President’s Executive Order Raises Wage for Disabled Too

President Obama’s executive order to raise the minimum wage for workers under future federal contracts includes a key provision to address concerns raised by advocates for disabled workers, according to the White House.

The president, who is set to sign the order at a ceremony in the White House East Room on Wednesday afternoon, announced his plan to take unilateral action at last month’s State of the Union Address and hike the minimum wage for low-wage workers to $10.10 from the current rate of $7.25.

Almost immediately after announcing his plan, advocates for the physically and intellectually disabled began pressing the White House to include the group among those getting raises. Under a government program that dates back to 1938, employers could pay certain disabled workers subminimum wages — sometimes for a fraction of the prevailing minimum wage.

But with Obama’s executive order, that practice will be discontinued with disabled workers laboring under federal contracts in the future.

“Under current law, workers whose productivity is affected because of their disabilities may be paid less than the wage paid to others doing the same job under certain specialized certificate programs,” according to a White House memo detailing the order. “Under this Executive Order, all individuals working under service or concessions contracts with the federal government will be covered by the same $10.10 per hour minimum wage protections.”

The White House says Obama will continue to push Congress to back legislation that would gradually raise the minimum wage for all workers to $10.10 by the end of his presidency, but the effort faces stiff resistance in the GOP-controlled House.

President Obama Offers Student Loan Relief

Republicans wont act to do what’s necessary to help Americans, so today, President Obama will use his executive authority to do just that – help students. The White House said the President will announce his plan today, a plan that will bring relief to students in two specific ways:

First, he will accelerate a measure passed by Congress that reduces the maximum
repayment on student loans from 15 percent of discretionary income annually to
10 percent. The White House wants it to go into effect in 2012, instead of 2014.
In addition, the White House says the remaining debt would be forgiven after 20
years, instead of 25. About 1.6 million borrowers could be
affected.

Second, he will allow borrowers who have a loan from the
Federal Family Education Loan Program and a direct loan from the government to
consolidate them into one loan. The consolidated loan would carry an interest
rate of up to a half percentage point less than before. This could affect 5.8
million more borrowers.

President Obama Ends A Failed Bush Policy – No Child Left Behind

President Obama:

“Our kids only get one shot at a decent education. They cannot afford to wait any longer. So, given that Congress cannot act, I am acting.”

And with that, President Obama used his Executive pen this week and put an end to another of former President Bush’s failed education policy, No Child Left Behind, (NCLB). The policy, signed into law in 2002, is considered a failure by educators all across the country.

The president blamed congress for dragging its feet on revamping the education system saying, “We can’t let another generation of young people fall behind… we are in the midst of an enormous economic challenge,” Mr. Obama said. “The most important thing we can do is make sure that our kids are prepared for this new economy. By signing the Executive Order, President Obama is granting states a waiver, which would allow them to draft their own education programs, instead of the one-size-fits-all approach Bush envisioned under NCLB.
