Melissa Harris-Perry No Longer Working on MSNBC

Shocked! Unbelievable that MSNBC and Melissa Harris-Perry have butted heads to the point where they cannot straighten things out. Perry and MSNBC are apparently going their separate ways!

“Farewell #Nerdland,” she tweeted on Sunday, referring to the probing discussions on her weekend show. “Inviting diverse new voices to table was a privilege. Grateful for years of support & criticism.”

The network says MSNBC and Harris-Perry are parting ways.

She was scheduled to appear this Saturday and Sunday in the regular two-hour slot from 10 a.m. to noon. But Harris-Perry announced several days ago that she would stay away — in response to MSNBC’s pre-emption of her program for much of February for coverage of presidential politics.

Harris-Perry has focused on the politics of race, gender and social justice on her “Melissa Harris-Perry” show.

“Our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season,” Harris-Perry said in an email to her staff that was posted on her Twitter page on Friday.

MSNBC “would like me to appear for four inconsequential hours to read news that they deem relevant,” including more political news. “I will not be used as a tool for their purposes. I am not a token, mammy, or little brown bobble head,” said Harris-Perry, who is black.

“While MSNBC may believe that I am worthless, I know better,” she added. “I know who I am. I know why MHP Show is unique and valuable. I will not sell short myself or this show.”

A Defeated Chris Christie Pulls Out of GOP Race for President

Becoming president of the United States was a long-shot for Chris Christie ever since the New Jersey governor hugged and thanked President Obama for bringing federal help to the people of his state during hurricane Sandy. Couple that with the fact that Donald Trump, another loudmouth, callous Republican is in the race, no one cared what Christie had to say.

So after Tuesday’s sixth place reward in New Hampshire, Fox Business News is reporting that Christie is calling it quits.

Despite a strategy that heavily focused money and resources on New Hampshire, Christie ended up in a disappointing sixth place Tuesday. Christie announced shortly after Tuesday’s loss that he was retreating to New Jersey and would be reevaluating his campaign.

Another major hurdle to Christie’s prospects was that he was very unlikely to make Saturday’s CBS debate. Polling at seventh place nationwide and sixth in the next primary state of South Carolina, Christie faced an uphill battle with no clear path to victory.

It’s About Time – The Secret Service Director Quits

The decision to quit was probably the best decision the former director of the Secret Service has made since accepting the job as Secret Service Director. Julia Pierson is finally out!

U.S. Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned under fire on Wednesday after a series of security lapses came to light that exposed gaping holes in the protective cocoon around President Barack Obama.

Pierson, in her position for just 18 months, faced mounting calls from lawmakers to step down in the fallout from a Sept. 19 incident in which an Iraq war veteran with a knife scaled the White House fence, sprinted across the lawn and got deep inside the mansion before an off-duty agent stopped him.

Pierson had told a congressional committee on Tuesday she took “full responsibility” for gaps in presidential security. On Wednesday, she offered her resignation in a meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who accepted it.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Obama believed Pierson’s resignation was in the best interest of the agency, and that “recent and accumulating” reports of security lapses led the president to conclude new leadership was required at the Secret Service.

Rick Santorum is Now Quitting The Presidential Race

The Hill is reporting that Rick Santorum will drop out of the presidential race Tuesday afternoon, according to a campaign consultant, essentially guaranteeing Mitt Romney the GOP nomination.

Santorum will make the announcement at an event in his home state of Pennsylvania — his first public appearance following the release of his daughter from the hospital and after he took a break from the campaign trail for a long Easter weekend.

His decision comes after a slew of primary losses made it harder for him to catch Romney in the delegate count and it follows a meeting the former Pennsylvania senator had with conservative leaders last week to discuss his path forward.

It will now be up to Romney and Gingrich to provide all the GOP craziness.

Jon Huntsman Quits Race – Endorses Willard Romney Instead

The New York Times reports:

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Jon M. Huntsman Jr. informed his advisers on Sunday that he intends to drop out of the Republican presidential race, ending his candidacy a week before he had hoped to revive his campaign in the South Carolina primary.

Mr. Huntsman, who had struggled to live up to the soaring expectations of his candidacy, made plans to make an announcement as early as Monday. He had been set to participate in an evening debate in Myrtle Beach.

Matt David, campaign manager to Mr. Huntsman, confirmed the decision in an interview Sunday evening. “The governor and his family, at this point in the race, decided it was time for Republicans to rally around a candidate who could beat Barack Obama and turn around the economy,” Mr. David said. “That candidate is Gov. Mitt Romney.”

In Case Anyone Is Interested, Sarah Palin Calls It Quits…Again!

This time, she quits even before trying. Not that this is really news, but yesterday, while the world mourned the loss of Steve Jobs – the man who made Apple what it is today with the creation of Apple’s Ipad , Itunes and  more – Sarah Palin, the quitter from Alaska, made an announcement: she was quitting again! “After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States.”

For some strange reason, and we believe it was to scam more donations from the unsuspecting Teaparty loyalists, Sarah Palin pulled a Newt Gingrich, forming a Political Action Committee and asking for donations as she “explored” the path forward. We all knew there was no path, especially after maintaining her job at Fox News when other potential presidential candidates were asked by the network to resign their positions. For the record, Newt actually used the donations he received and had the courage to enter the Republican Presidential race.

Sarah Palin will now continue doing what she does best – looking for the media spotlight and rambling on about… nonsense.

Here’s an example of the nonsense – her “I-am-not-running”  Statement.

October 5, 2011
Wasilla, Alaska

After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.

My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.

From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back – and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it.

I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.

Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.

In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.

Thank you again for all your support. Let’s unite to restore this country!

God bless America.

– Sarah Palin
