President Obama To GOP – “We’re not going to pay a ransom for America paying its bills.” – Video

President Obama on Tuesday said he’s willing to sit down and talk with Republicans over anything they wish to negotiate after they re-open the government and drop the threat of letting the nation default on its loans, if only for a few weeks.

“I will not eliminate any topic of conversation, and I’ve shown myself willing to engage all the parties involved, any leader on the issue,” Mr. Obama said from the White House press briefing room. “The only thing I will say is that we’re not going to pay a ransom for America paying its bills. That’s something that should be non-negotiable.”

After eight days of a government shutdown, with the deadline to raise the nation’s debt limit less than two weeks away, Washington has found itself incapable of overcoming their partisan disagreements. The stalemate stems from the Republican Party’s insistence on dismantling or delaying parts of the Affordable Care Act as part of these fiscal policy matters.

Michele Bachmann: Proof We’re Living In The End of Days

“Rather than seeing this as a negative, we need to rejoice, Maranatha, come Lord Jesus, His day is at hand…” ~ Michele Bachmann, praying for Armegeddon

Rep. Michele Bachmann believes that we’re living in the End Times. Truth be told, so do I, but I’m not about to blame the President. She claims to have proof.

On Saturday she spread the “Gospel According to Michele Bachmann” on a Christian radio program called ‘Understanding The Times’. On the show she said,

“President Obama waived a ban on arming terrorists in order to allow weapons to go to the Syrian opposition. Your listeners, U.S. taxpayers, are now paying to give arms to terrorists including al Qaeda.”

Honestly, if selling arms to the enemy was a prerequisite to the coming of End Times, America would have been Armageddon Central tens of presidential administrations ago. Weapons making and selling is big business around here Michele.

Right Wing Watch’s Brian Tashman points out though, that Bachmann — who on several occasions during her presidential campaign, has spoken of the second coming of Christ — may have been stretching the truth just a bit in her accusations against Obama.

“The Minnesota congresswoman referred to a decision by the Obama administration to allow vetted Syrian rebels not affiliated with terrorist organizations to help them resist chemical weapons attacks, which was spurred by the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons on civilians,” Tashman wrote. “While the administration’s move is only related to non-lethal, defensive and protective aid, Bachmann falsely claimed that ‘President Obama waived a ban on selling arms to terrorists.'”

Indeed, it was only a matter of time before Bachmann would come this close to calling the President The Anti-Christ. And no doubt there are many on the Christian far right and left who will believe her. But Bachmann and others have not come to this far gone conclusion all by themselves.

Hollywood assists a great deal in prophesying the End of The World coming just about around the time America’s has a Black man as President:

Tom Beck (Morgan Freeman) the calm, authoritative President who orders the use of nuclear weapons to destroy a comet on collision course with Earth in 1998’s Deep Impact.

Thomas Wilson (Danny Glover), tasked with the minor job of saving humanity from annihilation in 2012.

Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood), the newly elected president who finds himself saved from assassination by extra-terrestrial means in the show The Event.

And how about President Lindberg (Tom Lister Jr), the World President in Luc Besson’s 1997 movie The Fifth Element who was working against the clock to solve a riddle that would save earth from total destruction.

Truth be told these Black fictional Presidents fared pretty well in the face of pending “end-of-world” scenarios. If you can believe in the wisdom and prophetic abilities of Hollywood producers, than I’d say to Michele and the rest of the world, “Don’t worry. We’re in pretty good hands after all.

Fox News Reports Another Fake Story as Truth

But what else is new. Reporting fake stories or stories filled with lies and misrepresentation is something perfected by Fox. So this story – originated from a satirical website – was included in a on Fox broadcast. Apparently, it fell right in line with their Modus operandi.

On October 5, the co-hosts of Fox & Friends Saturday discussed the closure of the World War II Memorial, which resulted from the Republican-led shutdown. During the discussion, co-host Anna Kooiman claimed that while the memorial is closed, “President Obama has offered to pay out of his own pocket for the museum of Muslim culture.”

KOOIMAN: The Republican National Committee is offering to pay for it to keep it open so that the veterans from Honor Flight are going to be able to go and see this because who did it honor? It honored them. It really doesn’t seem fair, especially — and we’re going to talk a little bit later in the show too about some things that are continuing to be funded. And President Obama has offered to pay out of his own pocket for the museum of Muslim culture out of his own pocket, yet it’s the Republican National Committee who’s paying for this.

Unfortunately for Kooiman, the claim that Obama offered to pay out of pocket for a “museum of Muslim culture” originated from the satirical website the National Report. As the fact-checking site Snopes.com points out, a now-removed disclaimer on the National Report noted: “National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news.”

President Obama Cancels Planned Trip To Asia Because of Government Shutdown

President Obama’s already shortened trip to Asia was canceled Thursday, the White House calling it a casualty of the government shutdown.

Obama had been scheduled to leave Washington Saturday to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Indonesia, and the East Asia Summit in Brunei.

“The President made this decision based on the difficulty in moving forward with foreign travel in the face of a shutdown, and his determination to continue pressing his case that Republicans should immediately allow a vote to reopen the government,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney in a statement. “Secretary [Of State John] Kerry will lead delegations to both countries in place of the President.”

The White House announced last month that Obama would take a four-nation, seven-day tour that also was to include stops in Malaysia and the Philippines. Earlier this week, the White House had canceled those two legs of the trip because of the shutdown of parts of the federal government, which began Tuesday morning.

The highlight of the trip was to have been Obama’s participation in the APEC meeting. But several published reports had said Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin also might use the trip for a one-on-one discussion on the situation in Syria.

The White House said Obama personally called the leaders of Indonesia and Brunei to deliver the news. Carney said Obama hoped to return to Southeast Asia “at a later date.”

Peter King – 30 to 40 Congressional Republicans Don’t Think Obama is President

And I bet they all represent members if the infamous Koch controlled Teabaggers… Tea Party.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said Tuesday that there are about 30 to 40 Republicans in Congress who refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency and are seeking to erase everything that’s happened during his administration.

King made the remarks in a discussion with Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s Hardball, after the host asked how many Republicans would like to “erase [Obama’s] record as if he was never here.”
“I’ve had members, they know who they are, they say – ‘I really can’t say with these lips that this man, Barack Obama, was elected president’,” Matthews said. “They choke on that. How many are there in Congress on your side that represent that rejectionist front?”

“I would say there are probably 30 or 40 who are like that,” King responded. “As there were a number of Democrats who felt that way about George W. Bush, and going back to when you and I first met, Republicans who felt that way about Bill Clinton.”

King has been one of the most vocal opponents in his party to the GOP strategy of tying ObamaCare to the resolution to fund the government. He’s openly criticized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who has led the defunding campaign, as a “fraud,” and on Monday sought to orchestrate a “moderate rebellion” in the House to continue funding the government.

Michele Bachmann Likens President Obama to a Crack Dealer

In an interview published today on the conspiracy-theory-happy website WorldNetDaily, Rep. Michele Bachmann likens President Obama to a crack dealer, accusing him of trying to “get Americans addicted to the crack cocaine of dependency on more government health care.”

The Minnesota congresswoman, who has alleged that Obamacare denies healthcare to conservatives, implements death panels and “literally kills” people, even tried to link health insurance exchanges to supposed ACORN-esque voter fraud in which non-existent people will sign up for insurance to make money.

Apparently, Bachmann is afraid that Americans will like the benefits of the Affordable Care Act so much that it will be “virtually impossible” for Republicans to repeal the reform law.

Pulling no punches, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., told WND exactly why she thinks President Obama and Democrats are unwilling to negotiate with the GOP over Obamacare’s well-documented problems.

“I think the reason is because President Obama can’t wait to get Americans addicted to the crack cocaine of dependency on more government health care.”

“Because, once they enroll millions of more individual Americans, it will be virtually impossible for us to pull these benefits back from people,” the congresswoman explained.

“All they want to do is buy love from people by giving them massive government subsidies,” Bachmann summed up.

That’s why she wants lawmakers to do whatever they can to stop Obamacare, now.

“If it means delaying it, rather than repealing it. I’m for it. We have to do what we can do.”

Warning they are “making it up as they go along,” Bachmann predicted disaster if Obamacare goes ahead, because, “They’re trying to fly a plane they haven’t even built yet.”

George W. Bush Defends Obama’s Golfing

In an interview set to air on Tuesday, former president George W. Bush took the high road and defended the president’s golf outings as a necessity to release the stresses of the job.

“I see our president criticized for playing golf. I don’t. I think he ought to play golf,” Bush said. “I know what it’s like to be in the bubble. I know the pressures of the job, and to be able to get outside and play golf with some of your pals is important for the president. It does give you an outlet.

President Obama is often criticized by Republicans for his trips to the golf course. It is good to see the former President stand up for Mr. Obama, in spite of the nonsense coming from his own party.

Obama Nominates Top Contributor as His Ambassador to Canada

President Obama on Thursday said he will nominate Goldman Sachs banker Bruce Heyman, a top bundler to his 2012 campaign, to be his ambassador to Canada.

Heyman is the managing director of Private Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs & Co. and one of the few executives at the financial services giant to openly support Obama.

He and his wife, Vicki, hosted a fundraiser for Obama at their Chicago home back in 2007 — when Hillary Clinton was still the Democratic front-runner — and have jointly bundled $1.7 million for the president, according to records obtained by The New York Times.

President Obama Accuses Republicans of Extortion – Video

They think no one is paying attention, but on Wednesday, President Obama spoke what the American people have been saying all along. This Republican party is not about doing what the people want, it is about extortion to get what the Teaparty demands.

You have never seen in the history of the United States the debt ceiling, or the threat of not raising the debt ceiling, being used to extort a president or a governing party, and try to force issues that have nothing to do with the budget and that have nothing to do with the debt!

Obama to Republicans – No Government Shutdown – “pass a budget without drama”

(AP) — In a blistering warning to congressional Republicans, President Barack Obama said Monday it would be the “height of irresponsibility” for lawmakers to cause a new economic crisis just five years after the near-collapse of the nation’s financial system.

“I cannot remember a time when one faction of one party promises economic chaos if it can’t get 100 percent of what it wants,” Obama said, contending that the stance of some conservative lawmakers amount to just that.

Some of those Republicans say they will vote to extend current spending levels or to increase the nation’s debt ceiling only if Obama delays putting in place his health care law, a condition Obama has rejected. Others say that scheduled spending cuts should stay in place to reduce the deficit, while Obama wants the “sequestration” cuts reworked.

The president spoke at a White House event pegged to the fifth anniversary of the bankruptcy of the Lehman Brothers investment bank, which marked the beginning of a global financial crisis. The White House used the anniversary to lay out the president’s markers for upcoming fiscal fights with Congress over funding the government and raising the nation’s debt limit.

Obama reiterated his refusal to negotiate with Republicans over the debt ceiling. And he called on Congress to “pass a budget without drama.”
