Doubling Down on Stupidity Is The Romney Way

I have a sinking suspicion that Romney believes voters aren’t terribly bright.

The main problem with Romney’s new line is that it doesn’t make any sense. “The federal government doesn’t pay for teachers, firefighters or policemen”? Well, actually, the federal government can provide resources to states and municipalities to either hire new teachers and first responders, or prevent layoffs that would otherwise be made. If Washington would do this, we’d see an immediate drop in the unemployment rate, but Republicans refuse to even consider the idea.

What’s more, when Romney says President Obama’s “new idea … didn’t work the first time,” that’s the exact opposite of reality. Obama’s new idea isn’t exactly new — the last three Republican presidents strengthened the national economy through public-sector hiring— and it worked perfectly when Obama protected these jobs in 2009. Here’s a possible follow-up question for Romney: when you say public-sector hiring didn’t work the first time, what in the world are you talking about?

And finally, Romney’s position from Friday hasn’t changed. He sees President Obama fighting for school teachers, police officers, and firefighters, and Romney’s still convinced the economy will be better off if those teachers and first responders are unemployed.

That’s not “completely absurd”; that’s just Romney’s stated position.

Told To Leave, Portland Occupiers Partied Instead

The deadline was midnight last night, that was the time the mayor wanted the Occupiers in Portland gone. But instead of doing what Mayor Sam Adam wanted, the crowed of thousands did a countdown to the midnight hour and then partied like it was 1999.

Police stood by.

As the hours went by and the sun began to rise, Occupiers declared victory. The night however, was not without incident, as one individual decided to disregard the Occupiers’ wishes to stay peaceful.

Around 2 a.m., an announcement over the PA system warned protesters to clear the street, and someone threw a projectile, injuring a police officer. But the occupiers—who had collectively made it clear that their resistance would be nonviolent—found the offender and turned him over to police. Tensions cooled somewhat after that, and for the next few hours, the police focused on controlling the crowd, which successfully held the park. A few hours later, as the sun began to rise and the parks were legally opened, protesters declared victory.

Navy-Man Stands In Midst Of Oakland Tear Gas Street Holding Constitution – Video

A powerful video of a United States Navyman, standing in the middle of a tear gas-filled street in Oakland, holding a flag and a copy of the United States constitution. As he stands still, hands raised holding the Constitution facing the Oakland police, distant shots and explosions could be heard in the background.

Police in Oakland and nationwide are calling these Occupiers “violent” and are trying to justify the unnecessary brutal measures they’re using against American citizens exercising their rights, but when you see videos like the one below, you can’t help but wonder what is the real reason for the police actions, and exactly how much in “donations” went to their police department?

As far as the New York Police Department goes, we know that big banks have donated up to $4 million this year!

Oakland Police Used Tear Gas On Occupiers

About 75 Occupiers were arrested earlier today as they were kicked out of Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland, California because, according to the police, the protesters were  causing “sanitary and public safety concerns.” However, as word of the Oakland’s Police action got around, over 1000 more Oakland occupiers gathered and began marching back to their camps at Frank Ogawa Plaza.

Oakland police, intent on keeping the occupiers from returning to the Plaza, promised to arrest anyone who insisted on returning. As the group continued their march, police took unnecessarily harsh measures. They suffocated the area with tear gas causing the peaceful marchers to abandon their 1st amendment rights and retreat.

Firefighters – Call And Tell Congress To Pass The Jobs Bill

A new ad running in different states are urging Americans to call congress and tell them to support President Obama’s jobs bill. The group responsible for the ad is The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).

The bill has $35 billion in funding to help pay for staffing at fire and police departments across the country as well as at schools — that includes $1 billion in funding to protect firefighters’ jobs. The IAFF estimates that 15,000 firefighter and paramedic jobs have been lost or are threatened due to lack of funds.

Keith Olbermann Speaks To Lawyer Of Man Run Over By New York Police

There is absolutely no reason why any police officer should be allowed to intentionally cause harm to anyone, especially when an individual is in harm’s way, but is not putting  said officer’s life in danger. So don’t even try to understand this policeman’s actions in the video below – there’s just no plausible explanation.

Keith Olbermann interviews the lawyer of the victim. Be warned, more scenes of the attack are shown.
