Man Who Promised To “Start Killing People” If Gun Laws Are Passed, Lost His Carry Permit

So much can happen in 24 hours.

Yesterday, we told you about the Tennessee CEO who went on YouTube and made a video promising to “start killing people” if anyone, especially the Obama administration, tries to implement gun control laws. Well today,Tennessee officials suspended the lunatic’s carry permit.

A West Tennessee man can no longer legally carry a a handgun, after he made threatening posts on the internet site YouTube.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced Friday that they had suspended James Yeager’s handgun carry permit.

Yeager, 42, of Camden, posted videos claiming he would “start killing people” if the Obama administration took executive action to pass gun control measures.

Officials said the decision to suspend Yeager’s handgun carry permit was based on a “material likelihood of risk of harm to the public” (TCA 39-17-1352).

“The number one priority for our department is to ensure the public’s safety. Mr. Yeager’s comments were irresponsible, dangerous, and deserved our immediate attention. Due to our concern, as well as that of law enforcement, his handgun permit was suspended immediately. We have notified Mr. Yeager about the suspension today via e-mail. He will receive an official notification of his suspension through the mail,” Commissioner Bill Gibbons said.

So Mitt Romney Lost The Presidential Election. Now What?

Well, two things he shouldn’t do – 1. Go to Disneyland, and 2. visit any more future Pacquiao fights. But that’s just my list. Margaret Carlson from Bloomberg makes her own suggestion:

My suggestion is to take on Wayne LaPierre, chief executive of the National Rifle Association. LaPierre says he represents beleaguered gun owners, but his massive war chest comes from the gun industry (which has provided him with almost $40 million in recent years), not necessarily from NRA members.

What Romney first needs to do is quash the NRA’s unhinged crusade to put armed security guards and out-of-work police officers at every school. LaPierre announced this last week after the unspeakable massacre of 20 small children, and some of the teachers who tried to save them, in a small town in Connecticut. The deranged gunman, wielding a military-type assault weapon, also killed his mother and himself.

Then Romney can lead the campaign for the assault-weapon ban, which is being readied for the new Congress and is much tougher than the one that lapsed in 2004. As governor of Massachusetts, Romney embraced gun control, signing an assault- weapons ban. He could stiffen the resolve of lawmakers whose fear of the NRA is greater than their grief for dead 6-year- olds. That’s a battle Romney could be proud of fighting — even if, shudder to think, he loses.

But then again this is Mitt Romney we’re talking about, and Republican couldn’t wait to usher him off to Never Never land after the November elections were over. It is highly unlikely that any Republican in Congress will be moved to do the right thing simply because of Mitt Romney is behind it.

Sunshine State Recap: Mitt In A Walk

At least it was quick and fairly painless. Not for Newt, but for the rest of us who need to move on to something important like Friday’s jobs numbers or the Super Bowl.

How’d I do? Again, not bad. My prediction is first, then the actual.

Romney    43%              46%

Gingrich    31%              32%

Santorum  14%              13%

Paul           11%                7%

I thought Paul would do better, but at this point we’re beyond the possible phase of the race and have entered the Nomination Zone. Boutique candidates need not apply

The other issue is this continued talk of the motivated Republican voter. Florida GOP officials had said that they were looking for north of 2 million primary voters, and it looks as though they fell a bit short. So much for the enthusiasm gap. Democrats are becoming more energized and could match Republican participation in the fall.

Newt says he’s staying in the race. We’ll see.

Will conservatives flock to Santorum as the conservative du jour? I’m thinking not. Mitt is in a commanding position and will be the nominee. The rest of the campaign will measure how much he’s been damaged by the infighting and how much that will affect his chances against Obama.
