The Washington Post – “Donald Trump is a bigot and a racist”

The Washington Post – Let’s not mince words: Donald Trump is a bigot and a racist.

Some will think this an outrageous label to apply to the frontrunner for a major party’s presidential nomination. Ordinarily, I would agree that name-calling is part of what’s wrong with our politics.

But there is a greater imperative not to be silent in the face of demagoguery. Trump in this campaign has gone after African Americans, immigrants, Latinos, Asians, women, Muslims and now the disabled. His pattern brings to mind the famous words of Martin Neimoller, the pastor and concentration camp survivor (“First they came for the socialists…”) that Ohio Gov. John Kasich adroitly used in a video last week attacking Trump’s hateful broadsides.

It might be possible to explain away any one of Trump’s outrages as a mistake or a misunderstanding. But at some point you’re not merely saying things that could be construed as bigoted: You are a bigot.

Georgia Elementary School Teacher Fired for Calling Michelle Obama a “Gorilla”

Don’t worry, this racist is sure to find new work at Fox News!

A release from Forsyth County Schools says: “Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district. We are committed to ongoing staff training on the acceptance of all individuals. As this is a personnel matter, the district will provide no further comment.”

Allen threw herself into the spotlight when she wrote a response to the Facebook site Opposing Views, which noted that First Lady Obama continues to top the list of most admired women in the world.

“Do you admire her?” Opposing Views asked.

One of Allen’s response is:

“I admire a gorilla more than I admire her. (Wait, I forgot. She is a gorilla)! If she was a real First Lady, she would not have used and abused her title, by thinking that she is entitled to go on all the trips that she takes every other day. But most of all wasted all of our tax payers money. She is the worst example of a First Lady ever! (Or sorry, I meant gorilla, not First Lady)!”

Hillary Clinton Exposes More of Donald Trump’s Racism – Video

Originally, this post was supposed to be about all those black supporters of Donald Trump… all the 100 so-called “pastors” that is, remember them? They had a meeting with Trump in Manhattan a few months ago then emerged from the meeting at a press conference declaring their support for the Republican nominee.

Well honestly speaking, not all the ‘100 pastors’ announced their support for Trump, only a few. So this post was originally for those pastors and a question that bugged my mind  – what happened to your morals and more appropriately, what happened to your Christianity?

In the clip below, Trump was talking about his “success” in forcing President Obama to produce his birth certificate. He even had the nerves to say that he’s had a “healing” with the black community. Trump then told a truth for a change, saying his relationship with blacks go way back, like “over the last… a little while” – a clear admission that this “relationship” with the black community is new, one could even say pandering for votes.

Yet, some blacks – some pastors – support him.

But Hillary Clinton was not about to let this one go by. She pointed out that Trump and his racist ways go back decades, resulting in two federal lawsuits against him for refusing to rent apartments to black people.

Hillary explained;

But remember, Donald started his career back in 1973 being sued by the Justice Department for racial discrimination because he would not rent apartments in one of his developments to African Americans, and he made sure that the people who worked for him understood that was the policy. He actually was sued twice by the Justice Department. So he has a long record of engaging in racists behavior.

Charlotte Police Release Dashcam Video of Keith Lamont Scott’s Killing – Video

A few days ago, Charlotte Police Chief said he would not release the video of the killing of Keith Lamont Scott because he didn’t want to discourage victims of domestic abuse and sexual abuse from coming forward. Imagine that!

Well that was a few days ago.

Since then, the protests have increased and the pressure continued to mount on the department to release the video. And today, the Charlotte police department released the following video showing the moment when Keith Lamont Scott was shot by police for… who knows?

Actor Don Cheadle to Donald Trump – “die in a grease fire”

Actor Don Cheadle added to the criticism of Donald Trump Saturday, after the Republican presidential nominee tweeted about the death of Nykea Aldridge, the cousin of basketball player Dwyane Wade who was caught in crossfire and shot in the head and arm while leaving a school in Chicago, The Hill reports.

“Dwayne [sic] Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” he tweeted, misspelling the athlete’s name.

The black actor responded in two harshly worded tweets.

Twitter Suspends Accounts of Racists for Attacking Actor Leslie Jones

Chalk one up for the good guys. After pointing out and retweeting some of the vile and racist tweets sent her way, Ghostbusters star, Leslie Jones, got some sort of redemption on Tuesday when Twitter finally responded by permanently suspending some of the racists who took part in the attack.
Among those banned Tuesday was Breitbart tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos, who has been a controversial figure on the site and helped lead the abuse against Jones. Yiannopoulos did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Twitter has long come under criticism for not doing enough to police abusive behavior on the often-freewheeling messaging service. Other celebrities have taken issue with abuse on the site, including writer and actress Lena Dunham, who said in September she had hired someone to tweet on her behalf because it was no longer a “safe space” for her.

Twitter said in a statement Tuesday that it had seen an “uptick” in the number of accounts violating its abuse and harassment policies over the past 48 hours, noting it had enforced its policies either by issuing warnings or permanently suspending users.

“We know many people believe we have not done enough to curb this type of behavior on Twitter. We agree,” Twitter said in the statement. “We are continuing to invest heavily in improving our tools and enforcement systems to better allow us to identify and take faster action on abuse as it’s happening and prevent repeat offenders.”

Jones, who is also a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live, publicly pondered over several tweets what would prompt people to “spew hate.”

“I used to wonder why some celebs don’t have Twitter accts now I know,” she wrote in one tweet. In a separate post, she added: “Twitter I understand you got free speech I get it. But there has to be some guidelines when you let [hate] spread like that.”

Donald Trump – “Laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is; I believe that”

As if his documented hate for minorities isn’t enough, Donald Trump is now being quoted as calling backs “lazy.” The quote comes from one of Donald Trump’s top associates, John O’Donnell.

John O’Donnell, who was president of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and later wrote a memoir about his experience, said Trump blamed financial difficulties partly on African American accountants.

“I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza — black guys counting my money!” O’Donnell’s book quoted Trump as saying. “I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. Those are the kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else. . . . Besides that, I’ve got to tell you something else. I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is; I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”

O’Donnell said in an interview that he admonished Trump not to talk that way.

“You’re sitting there listening to him talk in stereotypes about black people being lazy and that it was a trait in his mind. And you just go, ‘Oh my God,’ ” O’Donnell said.

Trump told Playboy magazine that O’Donnell’s memoir was “probably true.” He told The Post earlier this year that the book was “fiction,” although he hadn’t read it. Trump said he fired O’Donnell, but O’Donnell said he quit.

President Obama Talks About his Legacy on Race Relations – Video

President Obama has cut short his trip abroad to come home and address the high tension between the black community and those hired to protect and serve, the police. But while the President visited Poland, he was asked to talk about what his legacy on Race Relations in America will be after he leaves office.

“More than anything, what I hope is that my voice has tried to get all of us, as Americans, to understand the difficult legacy of race; to encourage people to listen to each other; to recognize that the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow and discrimination didn’t suddenly vanish with the passage of the Civil Rights Act, or the Voting Rights Act, or the election of Barack Obama; that things have gotten better, substantially better, but that we’ve still got a lot more work to do… We plant seeds, and somebody else maybe sits under the shade of the tree that we planted.”

Kansas Cop Threatens Random Black Woman and Her Daughter on Facebook

The threat came after five police officers were shot and killed in Dallas. The Kansas cop apparently trolled Facebook, found the woman’s profile and proceeded to threaten her and her little daughter.
“We’ll see how much her life matters soon,” the officer said. “Better be careful leaving your info open where she can be found 🙂 Hold her close tonight it’ll be the last time.”

The Overland Park police officer was fired Friday after the Texas woman reported the threat made the night before, shortly after a gunman opened fire on law enforcement officers during a Black Lives Matter demonstration, reported the Kansas City Star.

The comment was made from the officer’s personal Facebook account on photos of the woman’s daughter she had posted in 2014.

The woman has no idea how the officer found her Facebook profile or why he targeted her and her daughter.

“I had no clue who this guy was,” said the woman, LaNaydra Williams. “I was angry, and then I was scared.”

The police department launched an investigation Friday morning after Williams reported the comments, and the officer was fired hours later.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Calls Shooting of Philando Castile “Heartbreaking”

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, called the shooting aftermath of yet another black man gunned down by police and live-streamed on Facebook, “heartbreaking.”

“My heart goes out to the Castile family and all the other families who have experienced this kind of tragedy,” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post.

“The images we’ve seen this week are graphic and heartbreaking, and they shine a light on the fear that millions of members of our community live with every day,” he wrote.

While cellphone video of police-involved shootings has become more prevalent in recent years in addition to security camera or dashboard footage, the aftermath of Wednesday’s shooting of Castile in Minnesota was live-streamed by his fiancee.

Diamond Reynolds streamed the moments after the shooting, as Castile slumped next to her in the front of the car, his white shirt soaked with blood and the officer standing a few feet away outside, his gun still drawn. The woman’s 4-year-old daughter sat in the back seat. Castile later died.

“While I hope we never have to see another video like Diamond’s, it reminds us why coming together to build a more open and connected world is so important — and how far we still have to go,” Zuckerberg said

Donald Trump’s Racism Caused Senator Mark Kirk to Un-endorse Him

Yes, there were some politics involved in this un-endorsement, but at least the Illinois senator stepped up and did the right thing.

Kirk, facing a tough fight with Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) to keep his Senate seat, released a statement saying, “While I oppose the Democratic nominee, Donald Trump’s latest statements, in context with past attacks on Hispanics, women and the disabled like me, make it certain that I cannot and will not support my party’s nominee for President regardless of the political impact on my candidacy or the Republican Party.”
