Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg – “We Are Not Experiencing The Best of Times” – Video

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke with BBCs Newsnight, and mentioned the Japanese American internment camps that happened in this country during her lifetime. She called that action “a dreadful mistake.” When asked if she saw similarities or “echoes” today when compared to the time of the internment camps, Ruth Ginsburg replied, “we are not experiencing the best of times.”

But, the 83-year-old jurist said the public’s resistance to the new administration — on full display at last month’s Women’s March protests — has given her “reason to hope that we will see a better day.”

“A great man once said that the true symbol of the United States is not the bald eagle; it is the pendulum, and when the pendulum swings too far in one direction, it will go back,” she told BBC.

George Will – Trump’s Speech “The Most Dreadful Inaugural Address In History”

I did not watch Trump’s inaugural because anyone helped by Russia to “win” the presidency is not a legitimate president. So watching the event would have been a total waste of time for me. But the spectacle was watched by some, and the criticisms are quickly coming in.

George Will, a former conservative Republican who left his party because of its embrace of Donald Trump, wrote a column after Trump’s speech. Will called the speech, “the most dreadful inaugural address in history.”

Twenty minutes into his presidency, Donald Trump, who is always claiming to have made, or to be about to make, astonishing history, had done so. Living down to expectations, he had delivered the most dreadful inaugural address in history.

Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s White House counselor, had promised thatthe speech would be “elegant.” This is not the adjective that came to mind as he described “American carnage.” That was a phrase the likes of which has never hitherto been spoken at an inauguration.

I knew watching his speech would have been a total waste of time.

President Obama’s Final Address – “Yes We Can, Yes We Did” – Video

In his final address as president, President Obama gave an emotional speech in Chicago where he mentioned some of his signature accomplishments as president.

“You were the change,” Obama said in front of a Chicago audience. “You answered people’s hopes, and because of you, by almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started.”

He ended his speech with a similar campaign echo: “Yes we can. Yes we did. Yes we can.”

Obama appeared to tear up while thanking his wife and family toward the end of his address, during which he touted the results of his tenure, noting the lower unemployment rate and millions of new recipients of health insurance covered under the Affordable Care Act, among other achievements.

But as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office in 10 days, Obama warned of foreign and domestic threats to American democracy, raising the threats of terrorism, economic inequality, and climate change.

“A shrinking world, growing inequality, demographic change, and the specter of terrorism — these forces haven’t just tested our security and prosperity but our democracy as well,” Obama said. “And how we meet these challenges to our democracy will determine our ability to educate our kids, and create good jobs, and protect our homeland.”

Poll – Half of Trump Voters Believe Hillary Clinton Heads Child Sex Ring

And you wonder why Donald Trump will become the next president of the United States? When half his voters believe his Democratic opponent heads a child sex ring out of a pizza shop in D.C, then it should come as no surprise that Trump will be sworn in on January 20th. Oh yea, and Russia helped his “election too.

I actually know one of these people. He believes that Hillary Clinton is the cause of everything wrong in America, so when the fake news story came out that Hillary sold young kids for sex, even cooking and eating some of them, this guy, my co-worker, was more than delighted to tell me how much of a devil Hillary Clinton is, and how this child-sex story proves his point.

But I digress.

No matter how many times law enforcement and the media insist that there is no Democrat-led pedophilia ring being run out of a D.C. family restaurant, there will always be people who believe that there is.

Specifically, there will always be Donald Trump voters who believe that Hillary Clinton traffics kids out of a pizzeria basement. That story was spawned and propagated by fake news sites and even led to a man discharging a gun inside of the restaurant in question. Still, the rumor persists.

An Economist/YouGov poll recently proved what most already know: Which political conspiracy theories a person believes and which of them a person rejects are all dependent on their ideology.

Notably, almost half of Trump’s supporters believe in the so-called “Pizzagate” scandal that centers around the supposed child sex ring while 57% of Clinton’s supporters rejected the idea outright.

Republican Compares Trump to Jesus – Refers to Trump as “A New King”

The Chairman of the RNC, Reince Priebus, released a statement on Christmas somewhat mentioning Christ but more importantly apparently, announcing the arrival of “a new King” in Donald Trump!

“Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind,” RNC chairman Reince Priebus and co-chair Sharon Day said in the statement.

“Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends.”
Twitter of course, attacked the nonsense.

Newt Gingrich – Get Used to Trump’s “Brilliant or Stupid” Tweets – Video

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich went on Fox News Sunday and told Chris Wallace that Americans better get used to Trump’s Twitter usage, regardless of if his tweets are “brilliant or stupid.”

“We might as well get used to it,” Gingrich said. “This is who he is and how he’s gonna operate. Whether it’s brilliant or stupid, he beat 16 rivals, then he beat Hillary Clinton (with the help of Russia of course) and he beat the elite media. He ain’t giving it up.”

We Are the Majority. Shout It.

I think what’s sustaining me, and alternatively giving me strength, is the knowledge that the United States is not going to become a second-rate nation and that our form of government is not being irrevocably damaged by the Russians, Wikileaks, right wing white nationalists or Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations. No, we cannot let these entities knock us off center or dissuade us from our message as a nation. We alone can lend legitimacy and commitment to democratic republicanism throughout the world, and we alone can fix our internal problems. If anything, the election and its aftermath must make those of us in the majority of voters who rejected the hateful, negative, xenophobic, blame-filled rhetoric of the Trump campaign more committed to the good fight, more convinced that we have history on our side, and more vocal in the coming years to speak truth to power.

OK, we can put our gloved fists down now. On second thought, keep them up.

The right wing ideologues who will run our government come January 20 will certainly do some damage to the environment, to the middle class, to those who need society’s protection from the ravages of a less caring government, and to our commitment to freedom and equality. But it is incumbent upon those of us who see the country’s mission as different to make our wishes known, to take to the streets if necessary and to monitor every move, covert and otherwise, that the new administration makes. And that includes filibusters, lawsuits, social media and nonviolent protests whenever we deem it necessary.

Remember that Donald Trump ran a terrible campaign, has no clue as to how to be a competent president, and that he has nominated people who don’t like government to, well, run the government. There will be some shockingly embarrassing moments in the next year alone, much less the next four, and we need to exploit them at every turn. Do not be hesitant. Do not be silent. Do not do the Democratic, left-wing thing where we say that we don’t want to be strident or uncompromising because that’s what Republicans do. Be difficult. Call out the perpetrators whenever possible. Take charge.

That’s the only way to fight against a group that has no shame when it comes to power grabs, fake news, and outrageously false accusations. We are the majority and we have to act like one.

Have a great holiday season. I’ll be back in 2017.

Obama on Russia’s Election Hacking – “We need to take actions and we will”

In a radio interview with NPR, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, made it clear that Russia’s involvement in the United States election process will not go without a direct response from the United States.

“I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections, we need to take actions and we will.”

“At a time and a place of our choosing. Some of it my be explicit and publicised, some of it may not be. Mr Putin is well aware of my feelings about this, because I spoke to him directly about it.”

Russia continues to deny any involvement with Donald Trump’s mysterious presidential election win a little over 1 month ago, despite their earlier announcements by high government officials that Russia was in direct contact with the Trump campaign. The CIA maintains that there are strong evidence to prove Russia hacked into the election, and that Putin was personally involved.

Former CIA Official Calls for New Election – “I don’t see it any other way” – Video

In a CNN interview, former CIA official, Robert Baer made it clear that if America had meddled in a foreign country’s election the way Russia hacked ours, then that country would immediately call for a new vote… and rightly so.

Why shouldn’t we do the same?

“The Russians, it looks like to me did interfere in our elections. We’ll never be able to decide whether they changed the outcome, but I’ll tell you having worked in the CIA if we had been caught interfering in European elections, or Asian elections, or anywhere in the world, those countries would call for new elections. Any democracy would. I mean, I don’t see it any other way. The Electoral College before the nineteenth has got to know whether the Russians had an effect, Whether they went to Wikileaks, whether they hacked email, and whether they affected American opinion.”

“When a foreign country interferes in your election and the outcome is in doubt and the legitimacy of the government. I don’t know how it works constitutionally. I’m not a lawyer, constitutional lawyer, but I’m deeply disturbed by the fact that the Russians interfered, and I would like to see the evidence, because if the evidence is there, I don’t see any other way than to vote again.”

Obama Orders a “Full Review” Of Russia’s Hacking of US Presidential Election

The Hill is reporting that President Barack Obama has ordered a “full review” before he leaves office of the cyberattacks that plagued this year’s presidential election, a top White House official said Friday.

The announcement by Lisa Monaco, Obama’s counterterrorism and homeland security adviser, follows repeated demands from congressional Democrats for more information about the digital assault that the Obama administration has blamed on Russia.

“We may be crossed into a new threshold and it is incumbent upon us to take stock of that, to review, to conduct some after-action, to understand what this means, what has happened and to impart those lessons learned,” Monaco told reporters at a breakfast arranged by the Christian Science Monitor.

Monaco would not commit to making the findings of the review public, but did say that it would be shared with “a range of stakeholders,” including members of Congress.

“That’s going to be first and foremost a determination that’s made by the intelligence community,” she said. “We want to do so very attentive to not disclosing sources and methods that may impede our ability to identify and attribute malicious actors in the future.”
