Beginning Today, More Health Benefits For Women Goes Into Effect Thanks To ObamaCare

More life saving health care benefits for women goes into effect today, thanks to ObamaCare. But have no fear women of America, if Mitt Romney gets his way and is elected as your next president, he’s promised to repeal this monstrous law that is saving the lives of many Americans, reducing our long-term deficit and contributing overall to a healthier nation.

How dare Mr. Obama sign such a law into effect!?

Beginning today, comprehensive preventive care coverage for women goes into effect as part of the latest rollout of reforms under the Affordable Care Act. Under the law, almost all new or renewed private health care plans issued after Aug. 1 must cover comprehensive women’s preventive services with no cost sharing, or co-payments.

One local health care practitioner believes the elimination of a co-pay requirement for preventive care is an important shift toward healthier outcomes that will decrease the number and cost of chronic illnesses.

“We have seen there are many women who don’t come in for an appointment because of a $10 to $25 co-pay,” said Margot Kingston, a women’s health nurse practitioner who works at the Families First Health and Support Center in Portsmouth and at Harbour Women’s Health. “More women need routine health care but they don’t get it because they can’t afford the co-payment. No woman should die of cervical cancer because they can’t afford a checkup.”

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in 2011 an estimated 20.4 million American women with private health insurance gained expanded no-cost sharing preventive services, including mammograms, cervical cancer screenings, prenatal care, flu and pneumonia shots, and regular well-baby and well-child visits. DHHS estimates that more than 253,000 women in New Hampshire on private insurance plans are now covered by the expanded preventive care provisions. By 2014, all Americans with private insurance will have a wide range of no co-pay, preventive care services as part of their basic coverage.

This new expansion of preventive services with no cost-sharing will cover so-called well-woman visits, which include contraceptive services and screening for gestational diabetes, domestic violence and sexually transmitted infections.

CBO – ObamaCare Reduces The Deficit, Repealing It Increases The Deficit By $109 Billion

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul will shrink rather than increase the nation’s huge federal deficits over the next decade, Congress’ nonpartisan budget scorekeepers said Tuesday, supporting Obama’s contention in a major election-year dispute with Republicans.

About 3 million fewer uninsured people will gain health coverage because of last month’s Supreme Court ruling granting states more leeway, and that will cut the federal costs by $84 billion, the Congressional Budget Office said in the biggest changes from earlier estimates.

Republicans have insisted that “Obamacare” will actually raise deficits — by “trillions,” according to presidential candidate Mitt Romney. But that’s not so, the budget office said.

The office gave no updated estimate for total deficit reductions from the law, approved by Congress and signed by Obama in 2010. But it did estimate that Republican legislation to repeal the overhaul — passed recently by the House — would itself boost the deficit by $109 billion from 2013 to 2022.

Republicans Fall Short, Way Short Of Their Health Care Promises

Remember when President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act also known these days as “ObamaCare” into law? Republicans all over this nation went wild, promising to the American people that they would “repeal and replace” the law. Well, we’ve seen multiple attempts – 33 so far, but whose counting – to “repeal” the law, but what happened to the “replace?”

Apparently, replacing is not that important. As a matter of fact, it is not even the issue.

From Politico: Even as they cheer their “Obamacare” repeal vote, here’s a reality check: House Republicans have done next to nothing they promised they would when it comes to health care.

Sure, they’ve voted to kill parts of President Barack Obama’s law more than 30 times, slashing funding, using the votes as red meat to rally the base — even squeezing some into law.

But they’ve fallen short of what they promised the American people they would do when it comes to actual health care policy.

Flash back to the campaign promises of 2010: GOP leadership told voters they would “enact medical liability reform,” allow Americans to buy health insurance across state lines, expand health savings accounts, “ensure access for patients with pre-existing conditions” and “permanently prohibit taxpayer funding of abortion.

Eighteen months after taking the majority, they’ve passed only two of those: an abortion bill and liability legislation.

Republican leaders have passed a resolution asking committees to draft a replacement for the Obama health care law, but don’t look for any thick, comprehensive proposals; they don’t exist.

Stephanie Miller Tells Al Sharpton – ObamaCare Would Have Helped My Sister – Video

Yesterday we told you of Stephanie Miller, an Ohio resident who got the chance to meet President Obama and thanked him for passing ObamaCare. Today, Ms Miller met with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s Politics Nation and told her sister’s story, explaining that her sister would still be around if she had ObamaCare.

A moving story of one American who is personally experiencing life without her loved one because of a healthcare system that concentrated more on profits than it did on human life. Stephanie’s story is magnified millions of times all over this country and ObamaCare will help these Americans.

Crying Woman Thanked President Obama for Passing ObamaCare

SANDUSKY, Ohio — An emotional Ohio voter personally thanked President Obama for passing a health care overhaul, relating the story of her late sister’s battle with cancer.

After Obama’s speech in Sandusky, he encountered a sobbing Stephanie Miller, who later told reporters about her encounter with Obama.

“I thanked him for the getting the Affordable Health Act passed,” Miller said, referring to the health care overhaul the Supreme Court upheld last week.

Miller said her sister passed away from colon cancer four years ago — partly because she could not purchase health insurance.

For Republicans – It’s Only A Tax If You’re Talking About ObamaCare – Video

Appearing on MSNBC was a spokesperson for the RNC and an obvious supporter of Mitt Romney. Asked about the struggles the Romney campaign has in explaining whether or not the mandate is a tax or penalty, the spokesperson explained that they agreed with the Supreme court’s position that the mandate is a tax.

But when asked if the same mandate found in RomneyCare – the Health care law that Mitt Romney signed into law as governor of Massachusetts – is a tax on the people of that state, the spokesperson stared at the camera for a split second then advised the host that “we are talking about ObamaCare,” not RomneyCare.

So to conclude, the individual mandate in the law is only a tax if you’re talking about ObamaCare. If you’re talking about RomneyCare… wait a second, we’re not supposed to talk about RomneyCare!

Moving on…!

Mitt Romney’s Sloppy Message On The Mandate – Is It A Tax or A Penalty?

They can’t even get their message straight, but Mitt Romney and his Republican backers wants to run the free world.

The message in question here is where does Mitt Romney stand on the individual mandate – something he attached to his RomneyCare Health Care law in Massachusetts and found in President Obama’s Affordable Healthcare Act also known as ObamaCare. The Supreme Court recently called the mandate a tax on those who refuse to obtain healthcare.

We are still waiting for a definite position on what Romney and his campaign thinks.

Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney has appeared to contradict previous campaign statements by saying President Barack Obama’s health reform law entails a “tax” and not a penalty.

Romney, who enacted a similar healthcare overhaul when he was governor of Massachusetts, has had to reassure fellow conservatives who despise so-called “Obamacare” without appearing to flip-flop on his own legacy.

The balancing act was evident in an interview with CBS news on Wednesday in which Romney agreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling that the individual mandate — which requires Americans to purchase health insurance or pay a fee — amounts to a tax and not a penalty, as both he and Obama had previously argued.

“The Supreme Court has the final word. And their final word is that Obamacare is a tax. So it’s a tax,” Romney told CBS Wednesday.

“They decided it was constitutional. So it is a tax and it’s constitutional,” he said, adding that he had agreed with the court’s dissent, which said the mandate was unconstitutional.

That appeared to mark a shift in his position, given that Romney campaign aide Eric Fehrnstrom had told MSNBC on Monday that the Republican candidate had “consistently described the mandate as a penalty.”

Michael Steele Confirms Only Small Percentage Of Americans Will Pay Penalty

Michael Steele, the former head of the Republican National Committee is not buying into the Republican talking points. Ever since the Supreme Court came out supporting the President’s healthcare reform law, Republicans have been on a rampage telling everyone who would listen that this law – also called ObamaCare – will be the biggest tax on middle class America. And not to be outdone, Rush Limbaugh, the unofficial official mouthpiece of the Republican party is telling his faithful radio following that ObamaCare would be the biggest tax “in the history of the world!”

Of course it’s all a lie, but that’s not stopping these Republicans from using fear to control their base. So imagine my surprise when Michael Steele went on MSNBC’s Hardball and told the truth!

Asked about the law and the fact that Americans are buying into the Republican lie, Steele admitted that the tax/penalty would only be on a small group of Americans who decides not to follow the law.

there is that element of confusion that now exist out there. You’re talking about a small percentage of people, those who does not comply with the law who would be subject to this penalty/tax. But the broader population thinks it applies to them.

Americans To Republicans – Leave ObamaCare Alone, Move On Already!

A new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation taken after the Supreme Court upheld ObamaCare finds a majority of Americans are tired of the Republican’s efforts to repeal President Obama’s Healthcare law.

This poll fielded following the Supreme Court’s decision upholding the heart of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) finds a majority of Americans (56 percent) now say they would like to see the law’s detractors stop their efforts to block its implementation and move on to other national problems.

Democrats overwhelmingly say opponents should move on to other issues (82 percent), as do half (51 percent) of independents and a quarter (26 percent) of Republicans.  But, seven in ten Republicans (69 percent) say they want to see efforts to stop the law continue, a view shared by 41 percent of independents and 14 percent of Democrats.

The public is also divided in its emotional reaction to the decision, with similar shares reporting being angry (17 percent) and enthusiastic (18 percent).  Negative emotions run highest among Republicans who support the Tea Party movement, with 49 percent of this group saying they are angry at the decision.

But what Americans want means nothing to Republicans, as John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are still promising to repeal the law.

Justice Roberts Switched Vote To Uphold President’s Health Care Law

(CBS News) Chief Justice John Roberts initially sided with the Supreme Court’s four conservative justices to strike down the heart of President Obama’s health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, but later changed his position and formed an alliance with liberals to uphold the bulk of the law, according to two sources with specific knowledge of the deliberations.

Roberts then withstood a month-long, desperate campaign to bring him back to his original position, the sources said. Ironically, Justice Anthony Kennedy – believed by many conservatives to be the justice most likely to defect and vote for the law – led the effort to try to bring Roberts back to the fold.

“He was relentless,” one source said of Kennedy’s efforts. “He was very engaged in this.”

But this time, Roberts held firm. And so the conservatives handed him their own message which, as one justice put it, essentially translated into, “You’re on your own.”

Understanding ObamaCare Benefits For Seniors – Video

The Affordable Healthcare Act signed into law by President Obama has benefits for the entire nation. But especially for our most vulnerable citizens, the seniors.

  • Under the health care law, your existing guaranteed Medicare-covered benefits won’t be reduced or taken away. Neither will your ability to choose your own doctor.
  • Nearly 4 million people with Medicare received cost reliefduring the law’s first year. If you had Medicare prescription drug coverage and had to pay for your drugs in the coverage gap known as the “donut hole,” you received a one-time, tax free $250 rebate from Medicare to help pay for your prescriptions.
  • If you have high prescription drug costs that put you in the donut hole, you now get a 50% discount on covered brand-name drugs while you’re in the donut hole. Between today and 2020, you’ll get continuous Medicare coverage for your prescription drugs. The donut hole will be closed completely by 2020.
  • Medicare covers certain preventive services without charging you the Part B coinsurance or deductible. You will also be offered a free annual wellness exam.
  • The life of the Medicare Trust Fund will be extended as a result of reducing waste, fraud and abuse, and slowing cost growth in Medicare, which will provide you with future cost savings on your premiums and coinsurance.

Christian Republicans Believe In Caring For The Sick, But They’re Against ObamaCare?

“It is the view that Christians should vote their values, and this means we should legislate moral evils into oblivion. Thus if we believe life begins at conception, we should vote against abortion! If we believe marriage is between one woman and one man, we should vote against gay marriage! And if we believe in caring for the sick and the poor, we should vote against “Obamacare!” … Wait a minute!”

That is a quote from David J. Dunn, an Orthodox lay theologian who is questioning the apparent hypocrisy being demonstrated by the Christian Republicans in this country. Mr. Dunn wrote a piece in The Huffington Post highlighting three moral issues Christian Republicans base their votes on – Abortions, Gay Marriage and Health care.

“Do you see the political hypocrisy?” Mr. Dunn asks. “The Christian Right votes for candidates who are anti-abortion and anti-gay (at least on paper) because it believes we must pass laws to protect marriage and protect life (at least embryonic life), but it is unwilling to apply the same principle to “Obamacare.” Infants in the womb have a right to life, but apparently adults do not have a right to life-saving medical care.”

He continues;

Opponents of the individual mandate argue that the state cannot force citizens to buy health insurance. That is a violation of our individual rights. But conservative Christians are willing to consider subjecting women to transvaginal ultrasounds before undergoing an abortion. Taxing people without insurance is intrusive, but apparently shoving something up one’s body is not.

Mr. Dunn brought his piece to a rather eye-opening conclusion: “In the Bible, Cain grew jealous of his brother Abel and killed him. This was the first murder. When God asked Cain where Abel was, he feigned ignorance and replied, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Gen. 4:9). Christians who oppose the Affordable Care Act are not murdering Abel, but they are willing to let him die, lest the taxes of others be raised! Apparently Abel must suffer to death so that our individual rights are preserved.”
