Our National Passtime – Another School Shooting in Oregon

A shooter at Troutdale’s Reynolds High School is dead, according to officials with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 100 law enforcement officers, tactical teams and medical personnel are in the process of evacuating students and staff.

No one else is known to have died in the shooting, though at least one teacher was reportedly injured.

Parents are being asked to reunite with their children at the Wood Village Fred Meyer at NE 223rd and NE Glisan.

Whether the shooter has been neutralized is still unknown, though law enforcement officers have concluded tactical efforts.

Parents began arriving at the school around 8:45 a.m., despite officers requesting they stay away for the moment. Officers are telling parents to meet with evacuated students at the Safeway on 242nd and Cherry Park.

A student still within the school tweeted just after 9 a.m. that while some students had been evacuated, “most” are still on lockdown.

One student told a parent the shooting began in the school’s gymnasium, though police have not been able to confirm specific details. Rumors of a shot teacher have also been unconfirmed.

About 2,800 students attend the school.

Three “Good Guys With Guns” Died in Recent Las Vegas Shooting

So by now you’ve already heard of the shooting in Las Vegas, where two police officers were gunned down while eating lunch at a restaurant.

The shooting was apparently carried out by an anti-government, Teaparty/Militia married couple, who also took part in the Bundy Ranch standoff against the government just months ago. After killing the officers, they covered the bodies with what has now become the symbol flag of the Teaparty – The Gadsden flag.

Two good guys with guns dead!

But there was another “good guy with a gun” that got blown away by the couple. A 31-year-old Walmart customer, Joseph Wilcox, who was standing near the checkout area with a friend when the couple busted into the department store and ordered everyone to leave.

Wanting to stop the couple and minimize the potential bloodbath that was bound to happen, Wilcox – a legally licensed concealed carry Walmart patron – told his friend that he was going to stop shooter.

According to reports, Wilcox pulled out his gun and “got into position,” aiming for the male shooter. He unfortunately did not see the female shooter with her gun aimed at him. She shot Wilcox in the side. He immediately fell and died from his injury without shooting off any rounds.

The female shooter shot and killed her husband, then killed herself. All that remained afterwards were the bodies of the three “good guys with guns,” the bodies of the two bad guys with guns, and of course, the guns. Five dead bodies… and the guns!

Republicans and the NRA continue to argue that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” I wonder which of the “people” the couple used to bludgeon the others to death…!

Leave The Murderers With The Guns, Protect Your Child With This Blanket – Video

So this is what the civilized United States of America has come to.

Instead of doing something simple to curb gun violence, like issuing background checks to act as a deterrent for those with bad intentions, you know, make it harder for lunatics to buy a gun. We are instead, preparing our kids to be sitting ducks in schools with bullet proof blankets.

An Oklahoma company – ProTecht – has developed the blanket made from bullet proof material hopeful that schools would pay the $1000 price tag for the blanket.

The blanket they say, would help protect the child from falling debris in the event of certain natural disasters, but would also help when the mass murderer with his Second Amendment Semiautomatic comes knocking at their classroom door. The only requirement is that the nice murderer stands outside the classroom and wait until all the children are fully covered before opening fire.

And if that’s not good enough news for you, consider this: someone is about to make a lot of money with their bullet proof blankets. 

Capitalism at work here folks, there is a need and the market steps forward to address that need!

Chalk up another victory for the NRA and the Republican party.

Gunshot Victim’s Dad to Politicians – “I don’t give a sh@t that you feel sorry for me,”

It’s something we’ve seen far too often. Mass shootings in our so-called “civilized” society by a gun-crazed lunatic, then more lunatics come forward to defend the right of the shooter over the rights of the multiple innocent victims he killed.

Survival of the fittest. Kill or be killed. Their definition of American civility!

Then the politicians, those entrusted with the task of leading this nation and protecting the rights and wellbeing of all Americans as laid out in the Constitution, do nothing except to offer their condolences. And in doing nothing, they validate the right of the lunatic shooter and the lunatics defending his rights.

Well, after yet another mass murdering spree in California where multiple innocent people lost their lives, and where lunatics rushed forward to defend the shooter, politicians are once again poised to offer their condolences. But the father of one of the victims is not hearing it. He’s not going to be satisfied with them calling him with the usual, sorry for your loss, but the shooter has his rights too!

“I don’t care about your sympathy. I don’t give a s— that you feel sorry for me,” Richard Martinez, the father of Christopher Michaels-Martinez, told The Washington Post.  “Get to work and do something.

“I’ll tell the president the same thing if he calls me,” Martinez added. “Getting a call from a politician doesn’t impress me.”

He went on to urge Obama and Congress to take “immediate action” to implement new gun control laws.

“Today, I’m going to ask every person I can find to send a postcard to every politician they can think of with three words on it: ‘Not one more,’ ” he said Tuesday. “People are looking for something to do. I’m asking people to stand up for something. Enough is enough.”

Carney defended Obama’s actions and said he had done all he could without congressional action.

Obama had “acted on every item the administration has contained within the report provided by the vice president to the president on measures that can be taken administratively to help address this challenge,” said Carney.

Guns. Again.

I started watching Elliot Rodgers’ online twisted manifesto about how women ignored, belittled and frustrated him and how, obviously, his only appropriate response was to kill as many as he could, but after two minutes, I had to stop.

This is madness.

We keep asking the same questions. How does a person such as this get legal access to guns and ammunition? Can killings like this be prevented? If the answer is no, then why not? We seem to be able to address, debate or even stop other types of anti-social behavior, but in the present political climate, where the Second Amendment seems more sacrosanct than the First, the answer we keep getting is that no, there’s nothing we can do. I can’t accept that.

Perhaps the country’s tolerance for gun violence and murder has not been tested enough, even with the killing of students in public schools and colleges, and that we need even more killing before we’ve finally had enough. I can’t accept that either. I’ve had enough. No more.

Maybe we’ll get a more liberal Supreme Court that will undo the terrible mischief of the Heller decision that completely obliterated the militia clause in the Second Amendment and made gun rights a personal right. I understand that many gun owners from across the political spectrum believe that this was the correct decision, but a more specific historical analysis shows that the Framers’ intent was not to make sure that everyone could have a gun for personal use, but rather so they could join the state militia quickly in case it was necessary for public defense. The Framers distrusted a too-strong national army and put the militia clause in the Second Amendment for a reason. It was there that Mr. Justice Scalia, the high priest of Original Intent, found that the Framers obviously did not mean for it to have legal weight and told us in Heller that we could ignore it. Go buy a gun. It’s your personal right.

And so here we are, shrugging our shoulders and repeating the old script that says that guns are not the problem, mental illness is the problem. Or society is the problem. Or anger is the problem. Or the president in the problem. But guns? Access to guns is never the problem.

The Little Men With Big Guns Causing Huge Headaches in Texas

In Texas, little men with big guns need a law to authorized their little egos. But the good people of the state are speaking up for their right to peacefully assemble and eat at a restaurant without the unnecessary, legally justified intimidation of these little men and their little egos, and their big guns.

It would be an understatement to say that the tactics of gun rights activists have been backfiring of late. The showdown has taken place foremost in Texas, where in recent months groups such as Open Carry Texas have conducted provocative demonstrations in which armed men exercise their right under state law to carry semi-automatic rifles in public. No fewer than five national food and beverage chains have now told them to get rid of their guns or get lost, including Starbucks, Wendy’s, Applebees, Jack in the Box, and Chipotle.

And now Chili’s and Sonic have effectively joined the list: Two videos posted on YouTube on May 19 by the San Antonio chapter of Open Carry Texas—since removed from public view but obtained by Mother Jones—show its armed members being refused service at both restaurants. The two companies have not made official statements on open carry but have since indicated that they are reviewing their policies. [See update below.] From the nervous and angry reactions of some patrons to comments from some of the gun activists themselves, it’s not difficult to see why these spectacles haven’t been winning many people over.

New Shooting Complements the NRA – 3 Year Old Shoots 18 Month Old in Head

So now, another senseless shooting. This time, a 3-year-old shoots an 18-month-old in the head. I guess the Republicans would say the 3-year-old had mental issues that need to be addressed.

In Payson, Arizona, a town just two hours northeast of Phoenix, a toddler accidentally shot his younger sibling in the head at a residence. According to the Payson Police Department, a 3-year-old boy found a gun in a home he was visiting with his family, then shot his 18-month-old sibling in the head.

At this point, the condition of the baby is not available.

The investigation is just beginning, according to AZFamily.

Fox News Guest Loses Job After Making Dumb Statement About UCSB Shooting on Fox

First, Robi Ludwig went on Fox News after the shooting in California and said that the mass shooting could have been caused by the shooter not being able to cope with his “homosexual impulses.”

Ludwig, a spokesperson for Coldwell Banker, apparently did not check with her employer before making that statements. After her appearance on the Fox, a concerned viewer shared Ludwig’s statement with Coldwell Banker. The viewer – Scott Wooledge – also asked, “I believe she is a spokesperson of yours, correct?”

Coldwell replied with this: “Dr. Robi’s comments on the tragedy in Santa Barbara do not represent the opinions of Coldwell Banker. Therefore at this time we feel it best to part ways with her as our lifestyle real estate correspondent.”

#GunsUp – 15 Year Old Accidentally Shot his 11 Year Old Cousin Dead

Tragedy has struck an Ohio family after a 15-year-old boy accidentally shot his 11-year-old cousin dead when they were left home alone.

According to News Net 5, Ashton Nicholson was pronounced dead after his unidentified cousin killed him with a gun found in his parents bedroom.
Lt. Gregory Johnson told the site:

“I have nothing to indicate that it was an intentional act, nothing to indicate that whatsoever. This is a terrible tragedy that he was involved in, but I have to give him credit for standing up.”

The gun was not secured, which was how the 15-year-old boy knew where to find it in the house. The boys were home and not at school because it was a snow day.

When the 11-year-old – who was said to have also handled the gun at one point – was shot, the 15-year-old’s older brother called 9-1-1 and told the dispatcher:

“My brother just shot my cousin on accident… Oh my God, he shot him with a pistol.”

Johnson also said that he wants this case to be a lesson to parents who hold guns in their house to be more responsible about securing them.
We pray for family of these young boys during this tragic time.

#GunsUp – 14 Year Old Boy Goofing Off with Gun Accidentally Shoots Older Sister

A 14-year-old Queens girl was shot Friday by a younger brother who was goofing around with a gun, police sources said.

Jessamin Lopez is in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital after being blasted in the abdomen by her 12-year-old brother, sources said. The bullet exited the teen’s back.

A source said the brother was only playing with the gun and did not intentionally strike his sibling.

A friend who is staying at the family’s 164th Street apartment told police she woke up to find the boy playing with a .22-caliber Colt revolver.

“She tells him, ‘What are you doing? Stop playing with the gun,’’’ a source recounted. “The boy says, ‘Don’t worry about it’ – and starts pulling the trigger.’’

The children live with their mom, Silvia Peralta, two other siblings, the mother’s boyfriend and two family friends, sources said.

The same caliber gun was used in the Jamaica neighborhood earlier this week; cops are investigating whether there is a connection.

Wall Street worker Mohammed Hamwi, 48, was shot in the head and torso just after midnight at a Jamaica Station street corner.

Kentucky Churches Giving Away Guns to “Point People to Christ”

The Kentucky Baptist Convention wants to “point people to Christ” by giving away guns at Second Amendment Celebrations hosted across the state.

In the words of spokesman Chuck McAlister the strategy is “outreach to rednecks,” and 1,000 people are expected to attend the next event. To lure the nonreligious into the fold, the churches are offering a handgun, shotgun, or long gun as door prizes. Winners attend church for a photo-op with their new gun, but they must pass a background check before collecting their prize.

“The number of unchurched men who will show up will be in direct proportion to the number of guns you give away,” McAlister told The Courier-Journal. “And I can almost tell you the number of men who would show up based on the make or model. There is a huge interest among unchurched men in the state of Kentucky regarding guns and gun rights that is even more of a draw than a toaster or money would be.”

At one event in February, McAlister reportedly took the stage surrounded by guns and discussed politics, saying gun violence is “not the gun, it’s the man behind the gun,” and “criminals don’t care about a bunch of rules.” God did not come up for the first 30 minutes. After polling the audience about who had a gun, McAlister said, “We’ve got an army right here!”

Trayvon’s Dad Tells The Truth – We Love Guns More Than We Love Our Kids

Two years ago today,  on February 26th, Georgia Zimmerman murdered seventeen year old Trayvon Martin. Two years later, the loved ones of Trayvon are still feeling the pain of their loss.

Trayvon’s dad Tracy, marked the anniversary of his son’s death by making an appearance on Politics Nation with Al Sharpton and dropped a sad truth – that America shows more love to guns, than they do to the life of our kids.
