Elizabeth Warren Leads In Poll Against Scott Brown

Elizabeth Warren just announced her candidacy for the Massachusetts Senate race to take on Republican Scott Brown, and already, Mrs Warren is leading in the latest poll against Mr. Brown. The Hill reports on the poll conducted by PPP which surveyed 791 Massachusetts voters;

Former Obama official and consumer protection advocate Elizabeth Warren is now leading Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), 46 percent to 44 percent, and has jumped 24 percentage points in name recognition over the last three months, according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling.

In the last PPP poll, in early June, Brown was 15 points ahead of Warren, and only 38 percent of voters knew who she was. Now 62 percent recognize her. And she’s making a strong first impression: Almost four-fifths of those who have developed an opinion of her since early June view her positively.

Thanks for keeping the seat warm for Mrs. Warren, Scott.

Mark Cuban Agrees – Millionaires Should Pay Their Fair Share

Billionaire Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, tells ABC Radio that he agrees with President Obama’s position of taxing the rich. Don’t tell the Republicans who have decided that rich people should never pay the same rate poorer Americans pay.

Mark Cuban has joined the likes of Warren Buffett and Russell Simmons, among others, who are willing to pay their fair share.

James Carville Happy Again With President Obama

James Carville, the often outspoken liberal commentator, is feeling much better about President Obama. Last week, Carville, a CNN political pundit and former lead strategist for the Clinton administration, wrote a piece on CNN saying that it is time President Obama “panic” and called on the President to fire some of his staff.

After much rebuke from other liberal leaning media outlets, Carville suddenly found favor in the President again. Appearing on Good Morning America, he expressed his pleasure in the President’s speech about raising taxes for millionaires, saying “the White House is listening.” He also said, “I think he fired his old negotiating philosophy which was a pretty good start.”

I guess we have Carville to thank for this???

Bachmann Distances Herself From Her Retardation Claim

Michele Bachmann found herself in a little hot water when she repeated what a woman said to her after the last Republican debate. Bachmann, one of the Republican presidential candidates for 2012, was engaged in a heated contest back and forth with her competition, Rick Perry over his Texas mandate that pre-teen girls get the HPV vaccine. Clearly against Perry’s mandate, Bachmann told Fox News;

“There’s a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given that vaccine. She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result. There are very dangerous consequences.”

Of course, there’s no proof that the HPV vaccine cause mental retardation, but for whatever reason, and we assume it’s all political, Bachmann felt the need to repeat this woman’s claim to the media. Maybe she thought saying it to Fox News was a safe place to spread her lie and misinformation, afterall, that’s what Fox does all the time. But Bachmann’s inaccurate statement caused a huge backlash from actual professionals in the medical industry. Even her Republican base has raised an eyebrow on Bachmann’s lie, and she’s now trying to take back her statement.

Asked about her false statement by the Associated Press, Bachmann played the innocent role;

“All I was doing is relaying what a woman had said. I relayed what she said. I wasn’t attesting to her accuracy. I wasn’t attesting to anything.”

Call me naïve, but as a so-called leader in the Republican party and an elected congresswoman, shouldn’t we expect a certain level of honesty and accuracy from these people? How low has this nation descended to, when leaders think they can repeat certain claims, without “attesting” to their accuracy?

What message are we sending to the kids? What is this saying about the future of politics in the country?
