Errand Boy Chris Christie Now Fetching McDonalds for Trump’s Campaign

AP Photo/Andrew Harnik

And fittingly so. Chris Christie is a disgrace to the Republican party… and that’s saying a lot considering that the very meaning of the word ‘disgraceful’ references the Republican Party as an example.

“[Christie] has transformed himself into a sort of manservant, who is constantly with Trump at events,” Ryan Lizza wrote in the magazine’s June 20 issue. Lizza also said one anonymous Republican source told him a friend on Trump’s campaign “used Snapchat to send him a video of Christie fetching Trump’s McDonald’s order.”

The piece, which traces Republicans coming to terms with Trump as the presumptive nominee, is the latest humiliation for Christie since he became a prominent surrogate for the businessman’s campaign.

After appearing on camera with a panicked, deer-in-the-headlights look in his eyes for much of a Super Tuesday press conference with Trump in March, Christie was forced to hold a presser of his own to clarify, “No, I wasn’t being held hostage.”

Protests Paid Off – McDonald’s Announces Wage and Benefits Increase

The voice of one only goes so far, but the voices of many echoes throughout the nation and the world, and the decision makers at McDonald’s took note.

In a statement released on Wednesday, McDonald’s announced wage increases for its employees and a benefit package including more paid time-off and educational opportunities for its full-time and part-time employees.

“We’ve been working on a comprehensive benefits package for our employees — the people who bring our brand to life for customers every day in our U.S. restaurants,” said McDonald’s President and CEO Steve Easterbrook. “We’ve listened to our employees and learned that — in addition to increased wages — paid personal leave and financial assistance for completing their education would make a real difference in their careers and lives.”

On July 1, 2015, starting wages at McDonald’s company-owned restaurants in the U.S. will be one dollar over the locally-mandated minimum wage. The wages of all employees up to restaurant manager will be adjusted accordingly based on tenure and job performance. By the end of 2016, McDonald’s projects that the average hourly wage rate for McDonald’s employees at company-owned restaurants will be in excess of $10.

A McDonald’s Worker Must Work 4 Months to See What CEO Makes in 1 Hour

That’s working 4 months and doing overtime the whole time. How is this right?

A McDonald’s employee working overtime for nearly four months straight would make as much as the company’s former CEO earned in just 60 minutes, according to an analysis published Tuesday.

The analysis, compiled by the financial information company NerdWallet, assumes the average salary of a McDonald’s hourly worker is $7.73, based on information from self-reported salary site GlassDoor.com. Official figures on McDonald’s worker pay aren’t publicly available, but the median wage for fast-food workers overall is $8.90 per hour.

By comparison, former McDonald’s CEO James Skinner raked in $9,247 for an hour of his precious time last year, according to NerdWallet. (The analysis focuses on Skinner and not current CEO Donald Thompson because full data on the latter’s salary isn’t publicly available yet.)

McDonald’s To Employees – Sell Your Christmas Gifts to Pay Bills

They’re at it again. Refusing to pay their employees a decent living wage, McDonald’s is now tell its workers to sell off their gifts to raise cash for their bills.

As the giving season approaches, fast-food giant McDonald’s has found a new way to avoid helping its low-paid workers with a living wage: this time by urging employees to sell their Christmas presents for extra money. The helpful bit of corporate advice was posted on the company’s “McResource” employee webpage in an effort to help staff manage finances and stress as the holiday season approaches. Companies like McDonald’s and Walmart are really outdoing themselves with the holidays appaoaching: Retail giant Wal-Mart’s recently requested help with the company’s food drive, with proceeds going to their  own employees, because Wal-MArt does not pay them enough to afford food.

Of course, McDonald’s also recently advised employees break food into little pieces in an effort to feel more full on less food. In yet more helpful tips from this very caring empyer, McDonald’s also recommended singing away stress and taking two vacations a year to lower the risk of heart attack. And, of course, selling your possessions is not just good for Christmas presents, they advise “selling some of your unwanted possessions on eBay or Craigslist” for “some quick cash.”

The company recommendations were publicized on Tuesday through Low Pay Is Not OK, an advocacy group for higher wages for fast food workers, arguing that the conglomorate asking its employees to make up for a lack of financial stability because of pitifully low wages was reprehensible. The organization quickly experienced blowback from McDonald’s, with the company flaming that the company-wide advice was taken out of context.

“This is an attempt by an outside organization to undermine a well-intended employee assistance resource website by taking isolated portions out of context,” the company said in a public statement.

The group was in the news earlier this month for releasing a recording of McDonald’s workers calling the company hotline asking for assistance, where the operators then urge the decade-long employee to apply for federal food stamps and Medicaid assistance.

Officer’s Act Of Kindness Caught on Video Moments Before He Is Killed – Video

Officer Jeremy Henwood of the San Diego Police Department was also a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve who had just returned from a one year deployment in Afghanistan — he had also served two tours in Iraq.  Coming home proved to be more dangerous than his service in war zones.

In August of 2011 he was shot and killed as he sat in his patrol car at a traffic light.  The shooter, 23 year-old Dejon Marquee White, pulled up along side his car and shot him in the head with a shotgun.  There was no provocation, he simply wanted to die and had decided to commit ‘suicide by cop.’  He got his wish, a short time later police tracked him down and he was killed in a shootout.

What was not known at the time of Officer Henwood’s death was that only minutes before he had stopped at a McDonald’s nearby to get something to eat and while he was there he had performed a random act of kindness for a young boy who he had never met before.

While standing at the counter in that McDonald’s he was approached by 13 year-old Davian Tinsley who asked if he could get a dime to buy some cookies.  Officer Henwood took out his wallet and bought the cookies for him, asking him what he wanted to be when he grew up.

Davian says that he told him that he wanted to be an NBA star to which Henwood replied, “Well you’ve got to work hard for that.”

Three minutes later Henwood was dead.

The video.

Charles Ramsey Will Never Have To Buy Another Hamburger

The man made famous for putting down his Big Mac to help free three women held captive for about a decade in a Cleveland house will never have to buy a hamburger in his hometown again.

More than two weeks after Charles Ramsey became an instant folk hero after telling his story to television reporters, Cleveland food blogger Michelle Venorsky said on Thursday that 15 restaurants are offering him a free hamburger, whenever he wants it.

Venorsky floated the idea to her followers after seeing Ramsey’s first interview on TV.

“He was so entertaining…I thought he should never have to pay for another meal in Cleveland again,” Venorsky said in a phone interview.

Since his first interview on local TV, Ramsey, a dishwasher at a Cleveland restaurant, has become an Internet sensation. The restaurant produced a t-shirt with Ramsey’s face and the words “Cleveland Hero” on the front, netting $21,000 for a fund set up for the women, who were held captive for about a decade.

Ramsey was not available for comment on Thursday.

Chicago Traders Throw McDonalds Applications At Occupiers

And you thought the traders in Chicago couldn’t stoop any lower. You thought that after placing a huge sign in their office windows saying, “we are the 1%,” these heartless parasites wouldn’t be able to offend the 99%, the Chicago Occupiers protesting outside their building any worse.

Well think again!

In yet another example of the insensitivity of the rich towards the middle class, Chicago Traders once again went to their windows and threw McDonalds’ applications down to the Occupy Chicago protesters below.

The actions of the Traders caused Occupy Chicago to tweet; “Real class acts. This week, it’s McDonald’s job applications they litter from the windows. Soulless place.”

These same traders belong to a financial industry that, through greed and market manipulation, contributed to the present economic crisis. And thanks to the American taxpayers, bailouts were allocated to traders with the hopes that a strong financial sector will eventually amount to a strong middle class, something Republicans call trickle-down economics.

This America, is what the Republicans mean when they say “Trickle-Down Economics.”
