Joe Biden’s Son Tests Positive for Cocaine – Discharged From the Navy

ABC News is reporting that Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was discharged from the Navy in February after testing positive for cocaine, a person familiar with the case.

The person said Biden had failed a urinalysis test administered in June 2013 before he was discharged from the Navy.

“It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S .Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge,” Hunter Biden said in a statement distributed through his lawyer. “I respect the Navy’s decision. With the love and support of my family, I’m moving forward.”

The person familiar with the case said he “was treated no different than any other sailor.”

Biden, 44, had needed an age waiver to join the Reserves because of his age as well as a second waiver because of a drug-related incident while a young man.

Republicans Want Their Cocaine Using Representative to Quit

The Republican Party of Florida on Monday called for the resignation of Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.), who was sentenced last week for cocaine possession.

“The people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District need a Congressman who is 100 percent focused on the needs of Southwest Florida,” state GOP chairman Lenny Curry said in a statement. “Therefore, Congressman Radel should step down and focus his attention on rehabilitation and his family.”

Radel took a leave of absence and checked into a rehabilitation facility last week after he was sentenced in Washington to one year on probation for cocaine possession.

Radel, sworn into office just 10 months ago, had been celebrated as a tea party favorite. Among other things, he favored drug tests for food stamp recipients.

Terry Miller, chairman of the Lee County, Fla., GOP, told The Associated Press of his disappointment following Radel’s sentencing.

“We thought we had an up-and-coming star in the party,” Miller said.

Oreo cookies are as addictive as cocaine – especially when it comes to the creamy center, a new study claims.
Lab rats who ate “America’s favorite cookie” formed an equally strong association as they did when injected with cocaine or morphine, student researchers at Connecticut College claim.

The cookies also ignited more neurons in the “pleasure center” of the brain than exposure to abusive drugs, according to the researchers.

“Our research supports the theory that high-fat/ high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” said Neuroscience Professor Joseph Schroeder, who led the study.

“It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.”
