Republicans Want Their Cocaine Using Representative to Quit

The Republican Party of Florida on Monday called for the resignation of Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.), who was sentenced last week for cocaine possession.

“The people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District need a Congressman who is 100 percent focused on the needs of Southwest Florida,” state GOP chairman Lenny Curry said in a statement. “Therefore, Congressman Radel should step down and focus his attention on rehabilitation and his family.”

Radel took a leave of absence and checked into a rehabilitation facility last week after he was sentenced in Washington to one year on probation for cocaine possession.

Radel, sworn into office just 10 months ago, had been celebrated as a tea party favorite. Among other things, he favored drug tests for food stamp recipients.

Terry Miller, chairman of the Lee County, Fla., GOP, told The Associated Press of his disappointment following Radel’s sentencing.

“We thought we had an up-and-coming star in the party,” Miller said.

Republican Congressman Arrested on Cocaine Charges – Pleads Guilty

Freshman Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.) pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of cocaine in a D.C. Superior Court judge Wednesday, after allegedly purchasing the illegal drug in a sting operation that was set up by several federal agencies.

According to court documents, Radel “unlawfully, knowingly and intentionally possessed” cocaine on Oct. 29. Radel was charged Tuesday following an indictment by a Superior Court grand jury.

“I’ve hit a bottom,” Radel said, as he appeared in District of Columbia Superior Court.

Radel was sentenced to one year probation while he attends treatment in Florida. The freshman congressman, who represents a solidly Republican district in southwest Florida, stated that he will begin an in-patient rehab program in his home state. Radel said he is also seeking counseling in the District. If heviolates his probation, he will have to serve 180 days in jail. He was also charged a $260 fee.

Republican Explains – Delay Obamacare For a Year, Win Senate, Then Repeal

In an interview today on MSNBC, this rookie Congressman apparently thought he was talking to Fox News, and he opened his mouth and the truth slipped out. His name is Trey Radel, a Republican Congressman from Florida. In the interview, the MSNBC host asked what was to be gained from delaying the implementation of ObamaCare.

Mr. Radel answered that the whole plan was to delay the full implementation in the hopes that Republicans win the Senate in 2014, and with a Republican controlled House, they will then be able to repeal the law fully.

Anything to keep the American people from having healthcare. This is ridiculous!
