Now I’m sure some of you will enjoy this but to me, this is just too much work. And it gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, beauty is only skin deep.
Now I can appreciate taking pride in the way you look or your beauty for that matter, but in this case, it’s taking in pride in your makeup selection.
Women wear makeup for different reasons, like enhancing certain features or hiding certain flaws. In the video below, watch as Cheri Lindsay removes her makeup to reveal her feature or flaw. I think it’s wonderful!
“You cannot seek validation from other people,” she said. “This world is very cruel. You must seek validation within yourself and be kind to yourself.”
Those are the words of 21-year-old Amani Terrell, a 260 lbs woman who put on her bikini on Tuesday and walked the street of Hollywood Blvd. Her message? “Love the skin you’re in.”
Speaking about LA women, Terrell said, “that’s all you see are thin women. I came up with this idea because I live in Hollywood and there’s this mass hysteria of perfection in this town. There’s a misconception that big women have low self-esteem. I don’t have low self-esteem.”
Of course there were some who took offense to Terrell’s display, but their disapproval had no effect. “I still love myself regardless” she said.

When you’re in your local nail salon getting a manicure and a guy walks in for a treatment, do you judge him? Do you give him the side-eye because you don’t want any–eww–males in your serene space? Well, even if you don’t do either of these things, guys who go to nail salons feel like you do. That’s why one LA entrepreneur is opening an all-male nail salon, called Hammer & Nails.
Screenwriter Michael Elliot (he wrote Just Wright, a romantic comedy starring Common and Queen Latifah) had an “a-ha” moment when he went to a nail salon in LA and struck up a conversation with the only other dude in the place. “It was just clear that we both felt uncomfortable, and we talked about how uncomfortable this is. I asked a lot of my other guy friends about their experiences and realized I wasn’t alone,” Elliot told me. “I have always hated going to get a mani just because of that feeling of walking in the door and it seems like all the women kind of look at you like, ‘What are you doing here?’ and it’s just awful.”
Hammer & Nails, which opens on Melrose Avenue in LA on November 9, is designed to look like a man-cave. The chairs are oversize leather, there’s a vintage punching bag from the 1940′s, and everyone gets his own TV and headphones, complete with a selection of premium sports channels. (I guess guys aren’t into engaging in nail salon gossip.) There will also be a selection of free beverages. Elliot doesn’t have a liquor license yet, but the goal is to offer complimentary beer and scotch.
The menu includes a standard manicure for $25 and a pedicure for $30. He acknowledges that his prices are about 20% higher than an average salon–he says he’s going for a more luxury vibe, and it’s difficult to stay as competitive as the more traditional salons do.
And the manicures won’t necessarily all involve just a buff or clear polish. “I do plan to offer [colored polishes] here. It wasn’t my original plan until I read an article in the New York Timesvery recently about this growing popularity of colors for guys,” Elliot said. “So I want to make that available here as well.”
Elliot’s goal is to get red-blooded American males to engage in regular nail care. “There’s this misconception that only metrosexual men would get a mani or pedi, or only gay men,” Elliot said. “I want to make nail care as common as getting a haircut and I feel like creating the right environment is key to that.” He thinks that there’s an untapped market out there of men who have never had a manicure because the typical nail salon is too intimidating, but who want to try one.
T&A won’t be a part of the draw at the salon, though. I asked him about hiring Hooters-style nail techs and he said, “Absolutely not. In fact the very first nail tech I hired has been doing men’s manicures for 38 years.” Elliot’s goal is to hire techs who enjoy working on men’s nails and who have a lot of experience doing so.
While some of Elliot’s friends think he’s nuts (the whole business venture is self-funded), he’s confident he has a winning concept. He hopes to open another Hammer & Nails LA outpost within 12 months, and to start franchising in 2014. He says he’s already received inquiries about franchise opportunities.
I actually think this whole concept makes a lot of sense. And I think you’d have more luck getting your boyfriend into a place like this to get his disgusting feet taken care of than into your standard girly salon.

She changed her name to reflect her personality… sexy… okay…
NEWARK, Ohio — A central Ohio woman who loathed being named Sheila and wanted a moniker that reflected her personality has legally changed her first name to Sexy.
A judge approved the request Tuesday from the 41-year-old Pataskala woman, formerly named Sheila Ranea Crabtree.
In her application, Crabtree called her given name “the ugliest one out there.” She says that if the court didn’t allow the switch to Sexy, she’d try to become known legally by her middle name, which she has used for years.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Crabtree told a judge that her husband and teenage daughters approve of the change. When the judge asked why she chose Sexy, Crabtree said she’s fun and free-spirited and thought the change would make her complete.
While an eye drop manufacturer commissioned the poll, the independent research company One Poll conducted it. Worth noting: The results include the 10 traits men notice first about women.

Baojun Yuan is a member of China Senior Photographers Association. He is highly respected by Chinese people. Why? In the past nine years, Mr. Yuan has repaired more than 2000 old photos for residents for free. Course it is not surprising enough if you have no idea about this great man. Mr. Yuan is 76 years old now. He didn’t know Photoshop until his was 60 years old. Mr. Yuan learned repairing skills from a teacher and was soon skilled in it. Considering that repairing old photos is too expensive for most of the residents to afford, Mr. Yuan himself bought a computer and a scanner and began service people without any charge. In his words “my teacher just taught me how to repair the photos, but he forgot to tell me how to charge”.

Lyndsey Scott
As much as we try to fight it, most people have a very stereotypical image come to mind when they think of coders and software entrepreneurs: pale, unshaven, twenty-something males.
Lyndsey Scott is none of those things. Though passionate about acting, she majored in computer science in college and then went on to become a model for brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Gucci, and Prada.
Despite her success on the runway, Lyndsey never lost her passion for coding. While she chose not to take the traditional route with a software engineering job at a firm in Manhattan or the Silicon Valley, she continued to work on apps in her free time, with projects ranging from an app that lets you learn about and fund youth education in Africa to an app that lets actors and models create professional-looking portfolios with the ease that only an iPad app can deliver.
We first learned about Lyndsey and her surprising workload from her profile on Stack Overflow, a site that lets programmers ask questions about their code and get helpful responses from other members of the community with expertise on specific topics.
She’s something of a celebrity on the site: users gain reputation points for providing helpful answers and the site keeps track of the number of views each profile attracts. To date, she’s gained over 1,000 reputation points and her profile has been viewed over 38,000 times.

- Dry, limp, thin-feeling hair

There are many things that can cause this effect, such as a sudden psychological or physical stressor, like a divorce or job loss, or it can also mean a high fever from the flu or an infection and diabetes. There are many medications that can cause hair loss as side effect too, such as birth pills, lithium and Depakote. Autoimmune diseases can also promote sudden hair loss. Hormone changes and thyroid disease, especially hypothyroidism, are some of the most common causes of hair loss.
- Overall hair loss that appears permanent
It’s usually caused by a change in the pattern of the sex hormones, but diseases and other underlying conditions can cause this type of hair loss by affecting the hormones
- Dry, brittle hair that breaks off easily
Breakage is most frequently the result of hair becoming over-brittle from chemical processing or dyeing, but there are certain health conditions that also lead to brittle, fragile hair, such as: Cushing’s syndrome, a disorder of the adrenal glands that causes excess production of the hormone cortisol, and hypoparathyroidism, a condition that usually either hereditary or the result of injury to the parathyroid glands during head and neck surgery.
Yellowish flakes on the hair and scaly, itchy patches on the scalp
It could mean a chronic inflammatory condition of the scalp that causes skin to develop scaly patches, often in the areas where the scalp is oiliest. When the flaky skin loosens, it leaves the telltale “dandruff” flakes.
