Obama Calls Out Republican Leaders for Failure to Denounce Donald Trump

It has been a disastrous campaign from day one but somehow, maybe because he said all the things that stroke the Republicans’ ego, Donald Trump managed to outwit and outlast all the other contenders for president. But when Trump decided to take on Gold Parents, Khizr and Gazala Khan, whose son died in Iraq while defending the United States, the current Commander-in-Chief refused to stay quiet.

Obama called Trump “unfit” to serve in the White House, and gave a blistering denunciation of the GOP presidential nominee.
“He said it was long past time for Republicans to revoke their endorsements of Trump, noting that his criticisms of the businessman were shared by many in the GOP.

“Yes, I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president,” Obama said. “I said so last week, and he keeps on proving it.”

“This is not just my opinion,” Obama continued, pointing to the “repeated denunciations” of Trump’s statements by top Republicans including SpeakerPaul Ryan(R-Wis.), Senate Majority LeaderMitch McConnell(R-Ky.) and Sen.John McCain(R-Ariz.).

“The question, I think, they have to ask themselves is, if they are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Obama asked.”What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer?”

What made Obama’s comments all the more striking is that they did not come at a political convention or a rally with Democratic nomineeHillary Clinton, but at a joint White House press conference with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore.Obama said Trump’s latest controversy — the feud with the Khans — was not “an episodic gaffe,” noting GOP leaders are forced to address the businessman’s comments almost daily.

“There has to come a point at which you say ‘enough,” Obama said.

Obama Slams Trump – Your Twitter Account Does Not Qualify You  for President

Donald Trump is a prolific tweeter. He has mastered the art of sitting behind a computer screen and attacking people in 180 characters. The conservative trolls love him for that and have anointed him the chosen one to be the next president.

But apparently being good at Twitter is not a constitutional requirement to be president. The current president made that point during his first campaign appearance for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Obama said Trump is just as qualified to serve as president as his 15-year-old daughter Sasha.

“Everybody can tweet, but nobody actually knows what it takes to do the job until you’ve sat behind the desk,” Obama told a crowd in Charlotte, N.C.

“I mean, Sasha tweets, but she doesn’t think that she’s thereby should be sitting behind the desk.”

In contrast, Obama said Clinton is more than ready to take his place. He cited her work on healthcare and education, as well as her performance under pressure during the lead up to the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.

“There has never been a man or woman more qualified for this office than Hillary Clinton. Ever. And that’s the truth,” the president saidf the United States. But being good at twitter is apparently not a constitutional requirement to be president.

Watch – President Obama Slams Donald Trump’s Unconstitutional Muslim Ban – Video

There are some who say what President Obama did today was unprecedented. But when Donald Trump – the leader of the Republican party and Republican presidential candidate – continually misleads his followers with unconstitutional talk of religious tests for Muslims entering the United States, then the sitting president had no choice but to stand up and smack down Trump’s ignorance.

“I’m With Her” – President Obama Endorses Hillary Clinton – Video

I still don’t agree with the way the media portrayed Bernie Sanders, painting him as a bothersome nobody who should have wrapped up his campaign on January 2nd and leave the stage. But Bernie got some respect today when he met with President Obama. It was a meeting that many Bernie fans respected and appreciated. After the meeting, the president’s expected endorsement of Hillary Clinton was made official.

Donald Trump Fanatic Arrested with Bombs After Threatening Barack Obama

Donald Trump and the Republican party just lost a vote as John Roos, one of Trump’s biggest fans, is now in custody.

A fanatical Donald Trump supporter, who was arrested by the FBI in Oregon this week after repeatedly threatening to kill President Barack Obama and federal agents, had multiple pipe bombs in his home, authorities alleged in court on Friday.

John Martin Roos, a 61-year-old from Oregon, has been charged with communication of a threat in interstate commerce, and additional charges are likely forthcoming. Roos first came onto the federal government’s radar after a “concerned citizen” brought Roos’ Facebook and Twitter postings to the FBI’s attention in February, according to an affidavit from Special Agent Jeffrey Gray. (Excerpts, below, from Roos’ postings contain explicit language.)

In one Jan. 31 Facebook post cited by the FBI, Roos referred to agents as “pussies” and wrote he would “snipe them with hunting rifles everywhere.” (Despite his threats to kill members of law enforcement, he also complained on Facebook earlier this month about the “liberal media … slamming police.”) In a post in November that was also cited by the FBI, Roos spoke out against accepting refugees and threatened to kill Obama.

“Obama you goat fffing fudgepacker, the refugees are men of fighting age. Black lives matter! Sure we need someone to pick cotton and wash cars. Paris, burn diseased muslim neighborhoods to the ground and start over with human beings. Obama you are on a hit list,” he wrote in a post that appears to have been removed.

Beyond what was mentioned in the affidavit, Roos regularly posted on both Facebook and Twitter about his support for Trump and his hatred for Obama, who he called a “muslim faggot” and other derogatory terms. He indicated he wanted to kill Obama’s family and made other racist and sexist statements about Michelle Obama. He also made negative references to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, singer Beyonce, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and reporter Michelle Fields, and said he believed that the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was killed by Obama. He praised Ann Coulter and Stacey Dash, and posted several links to posts on Breitbart.com.

8 Year Old Flint Resident Writes Obama, Obama Responds

Mari Copeny, an eight year old resident in Flint Michigan who was affected by Republican Governor Rick Snyder’s decision to use led contaminated pipes for Flint’s water system,  wrote a letter to President Obama and got a response from the leader of the free world.

Hello my name is Mari Copeny and I’m 8 years old, I live in Flint, Michigan and I’m more commonly known around town as “Little Miss Flint”. I am one of the children that is effected by this water, and I’ve been doing my best to march in protest and to speak out for all the kids that live here in Flint. This Thursday I will be riding a bus to Washington, D.C. to watch the congressional hearings of our Governor Rick Snyder. I know this is probably an odd request but I would love for a chance to meet you or your wife. My mom said chances are you will be too busy with more important things, but there is a lot of people coming on these buses and even just a meeting from you or your wife would really lift people’s spirits. Thank you for all that do for our country. I look forward to being able to come to Washington and to be able to see Gov. Snyder in person and to be able to be in the city where you live.

Thank You
Mari Copeny

The Reality Show Election Just Got Very Real

It is true that political discourse has taken a wildly unpredictable and extremely troubling turn in this country, but just when it seems that the shouting match will get louder, along comes a politician who is calm, focused, steely, intelligent, moral and principled. Who is this person?

The current occupant of the Oval Office. A man who has led this country through some of its most trying days. The president who will be remembered for bringing health care to millions and for signing a financial reform plan that is holding up well in the face of those opponents who would like to go back to the conditions that created the crisis in the first place. He has made stirring speeches, gave the order to kill Osama bin Laden, reminded us that race is still a central issue in the country, and weathered attacks by people who questioned not only his authority, but his legitimacy and fitness for the highest office in the land. And he did all of this without a major political scandal, running the government and hiring advisers who, for the most part, served their president well.

And for all of that, President Obama’s approval ratings have risen as the economy has improved, as evidenced by last week’s Labor Department report showing that wages are rising, more people are working and looking for work, and the economy is improving at a rate we haven’t seen in years.

But of course, much of this improvement is because the opposition is presenting voters with the choice between a Know-Nothing, Say Anything candidate in Donald Trump and his main competition, Ted Cruz, whose chief accomplishments seem to suggest that he wants to be president so he can shut the government down rather than have it serve the American people.

And this past week serves as a reminder that we had better be very careful about who we elect to the presidency. Trump’s mindless comments about criminalizing women who have abortions is only one-half step worse than Cruz’s position that abortions due to rape and incest be likewise criminalized. Both have said that American citizens who are Muslims should be watched more closely, and of course Trump wants to bar Muslim immigrants based solely on their religious beliefs. As for foreign policy, if you can call it that, Cruz wants to carpet bomb while Trump said last week that he wants our allies to pay far more for their own defense, even if it means the spread of nuclear weapons to South Korea and Japan. Never mind that an arms race with China is a real possibility and that the United States has an interest in shoring up those two countries against Chinese and unpredictable North Korean threats.

This last issue provoked the president into reminding the country that candidates like Trump can’t simply make up foreign policy on the fly. We have commitments in the world and whoever is president needs to take them seriously. And saying that many other countries, such as Pakistan, have nuclear weapons as a reason to allow more countries to have them is not responsible.

There is a reason why the Republican Party is trying desperately to stop Trump from earning enough delegates to win the nomination on the first ballot, even to go so far as to repeal a rule passed to stop Ron Paul and ensure the nomination of Mitt Romney just four short years ago. Even in the states that have already voted, such as Louisiana and Tennessee, there are efforts to deny Trump delegates or to convince formerly committed delegates to support another candidate, or no candidate at all. Yet. Now, don’t confuse this with GOP support for Ted Cruz. The party doesn’t want him either. What they want is an open convention where they can settle on a compromise candidate who can win, such as…um…I’ll get back to you on that.

All of this should serve to remind us that we have a president who is a positive role model, a committed family man, a serious thinker and an admirable representative of the United States. He’s had his challenges and burdens and did not really understand just how hard the Republicans would try to thwart him, but he’s learned and adjusted. In the end, we might not get Justice Garland, but we might trade that for the Senate in 2017. I’ll take that deal.

And I think a majority of the people in this country are waking up to the reality of what might happen if we make the wrong choice.

AIPAC Slams Donald Trump for his Anti-Obama Comments

Donald Trump used his American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) speech yesterday to further some of his campaign noise, noise that included his usual knock against President Obama. And while some of his noise fell on a few welcoming ears in the audience, the organizers and president of AIPAC later issued a statement, rebuking Trump and his comments against President Obama, calling those comments divisive.

“Last evening, something occurred which has the potential to drive us apart, to divide us,” AIPAC President Lillian Pinkus said during the final day of the organization’s annual policy conference in Washington. “We say, unequivocally, that we do not countenance ad hominem attacks, and we take great offense against those that are levied against the president of the United States of America from our stage.

“While we may have policy differences, we deeply respect the office of the United States and our president, Barack Obama,” she added to resounding applause. “There are people in our AIPAC family who were deeply hurt last night, and for that we are deeply sorry.

“We are disappointed that so many people applauded a sentiment that we neither agree with or condone.”

The comments were a clear shot at Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, who appeared on the same stage barely more than 12 hours before.

Bill Clinton Slams Obama – Calls the Last 8 Years “Awful” – Video

While on the campaign trail stumping for his wife Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton took an unnecessary shot at President Obama, calling the last 8 years under Mr. Obama “awful!”

While urging the crowd to vote for Hillary, Bill said, “if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us.”

Here in full context is Bill’s statement.

“I literally from the time I met her 45 years ago ‘til we talked yesterday, she is the best change-maker I have ever known. She always finds a way to make something good happen, to make people feel empowered, to buy people into the process, to make democracy work the way the framers intended for it to work.

Now, if you don’t believe we can all grow together again, if you don’t believe were ever going to grow again, if you believe it’s more important to re-litigate the past, there may be many reasons that you don’t want to support her.

But if you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful  legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that when we were  practicing trickle-down economics and no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash, then you should vote for her because she’s the only person who basically had good ideas will tell you how she’s going to pay for them, can be commander in chief and is a proven change maker with republicans and democrats and independents alike.”

Not sure how this will go over with the die hard supporters of President Obama.

Obama Warns Republicans – Democrats Could Block Your Nominees Too

If they can do it to us, why can’t we do it back to them? That is the message President Obama has for Senate Republicans who have vowed not to hold hearings on his Supreme Court nominee Judge Garland , and the President shared his concerns on this very dangerous precedent Republicans have embarked on.

On Saturday, the President warned Republicans that refusing to do their constitutional duties on a president’s nominee could cause Democrats to do the same with a Republican president’s nominee, leading to a process that is “beyond repair.”

Denying Judge Garland a vote “would indicate a process for nominating and confirming judges that is beyond repair,” Mr. Obama told Americans in his weekly address.

“It would make it increasingly impossible for any president, Republican or Democrat, to carry out their Constitutional function,” the president said. “To go down that path would jeopardize our system of justice, it would hurt our democracy, and betray the vision of our founding.”

Somehow, I don’t think Republicans care about starting a dangerous precedent, or their Constitutional responsibilities, or the country for that matter. The only thing they’re concerned about is their jacked-up party and their ignorant supporters, and ensuring their job security in a government they all hate.
